There are 2 owner-reported tires & wheels complaints for the 2022 Ford Mustangin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
My daughter was driving her 2022 Mustang GT when the rim snapped, vehicle went into a truck, started flipping on the highway, then burst into flames. My daughter had approximately 3 minutes before it was engulfed. The manufacturer, Wheel Pros, stated that the insurance company allowed us $400 for the rim, so we should be good. This looks like a defective rim. It put my daughter’s life in danger. In June 2023, there was another complaint about rims cracking from this same company. My daughters rim basically had the center of the rim still attached to the car with all lug nuts in place. The center snapped away from the barrel and tire, causing the tire to come off the car.
LOW TIRE WARNING CAME ON. WENT TO TIRE SHOP. THEY REMOVED THE TIRE & SAID IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. WHILE THE TIRE WAS OFF THE RIM, HE SAID WE NEED TO TAKE PICTURES. THE SIDEWALL WAS CRACKING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. HE SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. PIRELLI TIRES P235/55R17 I HAVE THE PICTURES, BUT YOU WEBSITE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD THEM.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
