ORIGINAL TIRES, CONSUMER STATES THAT ALL FOUR TIRES ARE SHOWING EVIDENCE OF CRACKING ON OUTSIDE. *AK
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO ASK YOU JUST SIMPLE QUESTIONS. ALL I WANT TO ASK IS HOW MANY FIRESTONE AT TIRE FAILUES HAVE OCCURRED ON FORD RANGER TRUCKS ACCORDING TO YOUR ACCIDENT DATA BASE. THANK YOU.*AK
PROBLEM WITH CLUTCH, DIES WHEN TRYING TO ENTER TRAFFIC, HARD TO STEER WHEN TURNING AND STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM FRONT OF TRUCK. HAD IT BACK NUMEROUS OCCATIONS AND ITS BEEN BLAMED ON CARPET UNDER GAS PEDDAL TO MY IMAGINATION.
THIS IS A RED CARPET CONTRACT. BOUGHT THE PICKUP IN OCT.99. STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CLUTCH IN JAN.2000, SENT IT IN TO CHECK THE CLUTCH AND THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG. SENT I BACK BECAUSE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE PROBLEM WITH CLUTCH WAS STILL THERE. THEY CHANGED A SENSOR AND AGAIN SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH CLUTCH. I DIDN'T GET IT OUT OF THE LOT BEFORE THE CLUTCH WENT COMPLETELY OUT. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH.THEY SAID IT WAS A MANUFACTOR DEFAULT IN NOV.2000 WAS HIT BROADSIDED ON PASSENGER SIDE,BEHIDE DOOR, AND THE WHOLE BACKEND WAS REPLACED. PUT 2 NEW TIARES ON BACK AND EXTENSIVE WORK DONE ON BACKEND. ASSUMED TIRES WERE BALANCED AND FRONT AND BACK ALIGNED. I HAD IT BACK AGAIN JULY 22,2001. THE CLUTCH IS ACTING UP AGAIN, THE STEERING IS ALL WRONG AND IT KEEPS DYING ON ME. THE BACK OF THE TRUCK FEELS LIKE IT IS TRYING TO PASS THE FRONT END. THE FRONT END SHAKES RELLY BAD AT 60MPH, AND WHEN I TRY TO SPEED UP THE MOTOR BOGS DOWN . I TOOK IT BACK FOR ALL THIS AND ONCE AGAIN NOTHING IS WRONG EXCEPT MY INAGINATION, AND THE WHEELS NEED TO BE BALANCED AND THE FARONT END NEEDS RE-ALIGNMENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REASON IT WOULDN'T SPEED UP WHEN GIVEN GAS WAS BECAUSE OF THE CARPET UNDER THE GAS PEDDAL, SO THEY REMOVED IT. THE CLUTCH IS STILL NOT ENGAGING CORRECTLY AND THEY STILL SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY WARRANTUY IS OUT AT 36000 MILES AND I WANT THIS TRUCK FIXED NOW NOT NEXT YEAR. BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN THEY THINK THAT I AM STUPID BUT I HAVE NEWS FOR THEM. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK AND IF I'D HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING I WOULD NEVER HAVE ACCEPTED THE TRUCK AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE ASSURED ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS LIKE BRANDNEW, BUT THEY LIED AND NOW THEY WON'T CORRECT ANYTHING. I DO HOPE THAT YOU WILL CHECK INTO THIS, AS I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN WHO TRAVEL IN THIS TRUCK AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THEM BECAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS, I WILL HAVE NO OTHER OPTION THAT TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY AND GO TO COURT.

PURCHASED APC MODEL 40.4132.TLR "EURO-TAIL" TAIL LAMPS FROM FREITAS CUSTOMS BEGINNING OF JUNE 2001. THEY WERE ADVERTISED AS BEING 100% STREET LEGAL. MARKINGS SAY AIRST 98 DOT. RECEIVED A CITATION FOR ILLEGAL LIGHTING. (IT APPEARS TO BE MISSING SIDE REFLEX REFLECTOR AND SIDE MARKER LAMP) HE GOES TO COURT ON 8/29/01. HE CONTACTED MANUFACTURER BY E-MAIL IN MID AUGUST 2001.
A PIECE OF THE BROKEN LEAF SPRING ABOUT 15 INCHES LONG BROKE LOOSE AND FLEW OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK WHILE IN MOTION. THIS OCCURED IN THE OVERNITE HOURS WITH NO NEARBY TRAFFIC. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILY OF INJURY AND DAMAGE TO VECHICLES IF THIS HAPPENS TO OTHER DRIVERS DURING PEAK TRAFFIC HOURS.*AK
TRANSMISSION HAS LONG SHIFT DELAY BETWEEN 1 AND 2 GEARS AND OFF ON 2 AND 3 GEARS. SOMETIMES DELAY IS GREATER THAN OTHER TIMES, RESULTING IN SLOW MOVEMENT.

WHEN ABS BRAKE SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED, HEADLIGHTS/ HORN AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECOME INOPERABLE, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*SLC

WHILE DRIVING 45-50MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE, AND FRONT END ENDED UP BURIED IN A DITCH. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER DRIVER SIDE NOR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
SEVERE CRACKS IN SIDEWALLS OF TIRES FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT P225?70R15 100S MTS
WE WERE ON VACATION IN AUGUST, 2001.ODOMETER WAS APPROX.7,000MI. COMING DOWN A STEEP, WINDING ROAD IN THE SIERRAS WE PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN LOW GEAR ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THERE WAS NO EFFECT. IT WAS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WERE IN NEUTRAL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS VERIFIED THE PROBLEM AND SAYS IT IS A TORN GASKET. FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB # 14405 ACKNOWLEDGING THE DEFECT BUT SAYING THEY DON'T HAVE A PERMANENT SOLUTION. THE DEALER WILL CHANGE THE GASKET BUT IT MAY FAIL AT ANY TIME. WHAT USE IS A TRUCK THAT WE CAN'T HAUL ANYTHING IN WITHOUT RISKING OUR LIVES?*AK
WHEN DRIVING ON AN INCLINE, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THE BRAKES KICKED IN, AND MOMENTS LATER, THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE HE KEPT ASKING THE DEALER TO REMEDY THE STEERING-3 TIMES. THE CONSUMER HAD TO KEEP TAKING THE VEHICLE TO GET A FRONT END ALIGNMENT EVERY FEW DAYS. THE TAIL GATE LATCH DOES NOT OPERATE, THE WIND IS STILL LEAKING AROUND THE DOOR, THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAKE NOISE OVERHEAD/PERIODICALLY LOCKS UP AND THROWS OFF THE DRIVE BELT AND BECOMES HARD TO STEER, THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL/ROARING NOISE-ROTATED TIRES. *SCC
WHEN DRIVING THERE WILL BE A WHINING NOISE PRESENT AND STEERING WHEEL WILL BECOME STIFF. STEERING HAS LOCKED UP BEFORE DUE TO MAIN DRIVE BELT BREAKING. DEALER HAS REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*AK FRONT BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING AND THE ROTORS WERE TURNED. THE TAILGATE WILL NOT UNLATCH PERIODICALLY AND THEN COMES OPEN BY ITSELF. THE FRONT RODS WERE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. *JG
TAILGATE WILL SOMETIMES BE DIFFICULT TO UNLATCH, AND THERE ARE ALSO TIMES WHEN LATCH WILL COME OPEN WHEN HITTING A BUMP. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE AND CAN'T FIX TAILGATE. *AK
CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, HOT WIRE MELTED OFF OF THE ALTERNATOR AND MELTED ONTO OTHER WIRING AND HOSES. THE PART WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM REOCCURED. THE DEALER STATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. MR THE CONSUMER TALKED TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THE WRONG SIZE ALTERNATOR WAS INSTALLED BY FORD WITH A 95 AMP AND THE VEHICLE REQUIRES A 130 AMP. THER WAS NO SIGN THAT THE MELTING HAD OCCURED UNTIL THE BATTERY WENT DEAD. SCC
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION ON THE BACK BEEN ALTERED BY DEALER SHIP. DELAER WAS CONTACTED THAT THE SUSPENSION HAD BEEN ALTERED AND THAT IF CONSUMER CHOOSES TO TAKE IT OFF THE VEHICLE LEANS ON A SIDE. MR
WE RAN INTO CAR THAT CUT US OFF. OUR SPEED WAS ABOUT 35 MPH. NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED, AND MY WIFE SUSTAINED A BRUISED OR CRACKED STERNUM. THE WRECKER PERSON AND THE STATE TROOPER BOTH SEEMED TO THINK AIR BAGS ON RANGERS DID NOT DEPLOY EASILY. I CONTACTED FORD WITH THE IDEA OF PROVIDING USEFUL DATA ABOUT THEIR VEHICLE. I AM NOT SUING FORD OR THE LIKES JUST TRYING TO REPORT WHAT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM. FORD HAS RESPONDED BY INFORMING ME THAT MY INSURANCE CARRIER CAN SUBROGATE FORD IF THEY FEEL FORD HAS RESPONSIBILITY. MY CONCERN IS THAT SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THOSE AIR BAGS ON FORD RANGERS ARE DEPLOYING IN AN APPROPRIATE MANNER. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND APPARENTLY FORD DOES NOT PLAN TO DO IT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT FAILS TO COME ON WHEN VEHICLE IS BEING STARTED. MECHANIC INDICATED PROBLEM IS IN THE COMPUTER WHICH ALSO AFFECTS THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT. TS
CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, DEALER REMOVED HUB CAP, AND NOTICED THE BRAKE ADJUSTER SPRING WAS BROKEN. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN.*AK
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 35 AND 40 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN A NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *NLM
