THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED ON MY 2001 FORD RANGER PICKUP, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH ON I-5 SOUTH IN PORTLAND, OR. CONTACTED THE LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER IN VANCOUVER, WA & THEY PASSED THE BUCK TO FORD, STATING THAT THEY DO NOT COVER A WARRANTY FOR THE TIRES, THAT IT FALLS UNDER THE AUTO COMPANY TO COVER THE WARRANTY ON THE TIRES. (TIRESIZE: P225/70RX15 A/S OWL TIRES. *AK)
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING AT 45-50 MPH AN EPILEPTIC SEIZURE OCCURRED WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. E DRIVER'S NOR THE PASSENGER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED. AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT SEAT BELT CAME UNHOOKED. SEAT BELTS WERE ON RECALL, AND THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE DEALER.*AK DRIVER WAS IN A CRASH AND THE LATCH PLATE DETACHED FROM THE BUCKLE DURING THE EVEN. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN TO A STOP. AS I WAS APPROCHING STOPPED TRAFFIC, AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO ATTEMPT TO SLOW DOWN. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE GROUND AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP BUT THE FRONT DID NOT. CAUSING ME TO ALMOST SPIN OUT ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 65MPH. THE LOCAL FORD SERCIVE DEPARTMENT SAYS IT WAS DUE TO A PANIC STOP THAT THE BRAKE FLUID BOILED AND THE PADS OVER HEATED. BUT I DID NOT ATTEMPT A PANIC STOP. I WAS GOING 65 FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN THE BRAKES SIMPLY FAILED. THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR NEW BRAKE PADS, SEALS AND A COMPLETE BRAKE FLUID FLUSH. ALMOST $350 DOLLARS.
CONSUMER STATED THAT FRONT END IS WEARING. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
DT: SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FAILED ON THE CONSUMERS 2003 FORD EXPLORER . THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS HAPPENED ALL THE TIME. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT 40 MPH . *AK THE CONSUMER HAD TO MANUALLY PLACE THE SEAT BELT BACK INTO ITS POSITION IT DID NOT RETRACT. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE SPRINGS WERE WEAK AND THEY WOULD FAIL AGAIN IF REPLACED. *JB
AT 6K MI WHILE MAKING RIGHT TURNS AT SPEEDS 30 MPH AND LOWER, THERE WAS A DISTINCT VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END. FORD REPLACED THE STEERING RACK. NOW AT 23K MI SAME EXACT PROBLEM IS BACK. *TT
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD 10/01 ABOUT A DEFECT WITH THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES. THE DEALER SAID THE TIRE PROGRAM HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED (MANUFACTURER RECALL # 0NP01B77; NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 01X001000). *NLM *TS
AT LESS THAN 22,600 MILES, VEHICLE USED IN LIGHT COMMUTER DUTY REQUIRED NEW BRAKES TWICE, THE MOST RECENT THE RESULT OF SEPARATION OF BRAKE LINING FROM BRAKE PAD CAUSING ROTOR TO CRACK BEYOND REPAIR DUE TO METAL-TO-METAL HEAT FATIGUE. FAILURE OCCURRED WITH NO PREVIOUS AUDIBLE OR OTHER WARNING. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
WHEN I LOOK UP MY FORD RANGER 2002 PICKUP TRUCK AND ATTEMPT TO LOOK AT THE POWER TRAIN OPTION IT COMES BACK WITH A ERROR ON THE SCREEN WITH THE COMMANDS "GET-IN-......." IT DOES NOT GIVE ME ANY SEARCH RESULTS. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *JB
THE VEHICLE CAME FROM THE MANUFACTURER WITH THE WRONG ROTORS. AFTER 19 MILES, THE ROTORS AND BRAKES WERE CHANGED, AND AGAIN AT 32 MILES. *JB
BOTH OF THE VEHICLES FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING OVER A RAILROAD TRACK. *NLM *CB *NLM
WHILE TURNING INTO GROCERY PARKING LOT APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP VEHICLE, BUT VEHICLE KEEP GOING AND SMASHED THROUGH STORE ENTRANCE.VEHICLE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND THEY ARE ANTI LOCK
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FOWARD AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WORN WHICH CAUSED HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. *NLM
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT HOLD AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *MR *SC *TC THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE SKIDDED ACROSS THE ROAD AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. *JB
TRAVELING APPROX 68 MPH I SWURVED TO AVOID GOING OFF ROAD.AS I JERKED THE STIRRING WHEEL TO MY RT THEN BACK TO MY LEFT I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES WITH A HARD AND CONSISTANT PRESSSURE,CAUSING MY FRONT BREAKS LOCKUP,WHICH RESULTED IN ME LOSING CONTROL OF MY TRUCK IT !!SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL I WENT ONLY TO COME TO REST AFTER A FRONTAL IMPACT OF APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MRH AS WELL AS A REAR IMPACT SPEED AT THIS POINT UNKNOWN. BESIDES MY FRONT BREAKS LOCKING UP, NEITHER MY DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
GOODYEAR WRANGLER RT/S FRONT TIRES CUPPING BADLY, RECOMMENDED TIRE ROTATION CAUSED ALL FOUR TIRES TO BE BADLY CUPPED RESULTING IN SERIOUS VIBRATION AND DIFFICULTY IN CONTROL ON WET OR ICY SURFACES. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. TIRES WERE A REPLACEMENT BY FORD OF FIRESTONE TIRES WHICH WERE OEM. IT SEEMS THAT TIRE FAILURE OR ACCIDENTS MAY WELL RESULT WITH THE CUPPING OF GOODYEAR TIRES. FORD DEALER SAYS TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE BUT THE WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT AND FORD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE. FORD DEALER (TASCA FORD CRANSTON, RI) RECOMMENDED ALL TIRES BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE! THESE TIRES HAVE ONLY 14,000 MILES ON THEM! *JB

FUEL PUMP AND MECHANISMS TO SUPPORT CORRECT OPERATION FAILED UPON IGNITION IN DRIVEWAY. IT IS SECOND REPORT GIVEN TO THE NHTSA AND IT IS POSSIBLE IF VEHICLE IS HOT EXPLOSION COULD OCCUR. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 48/52 MPH, VEHICLE WAS IN A SQUARE FRONT COLLISION, BUT NONE THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE POLICE INVESTIGATOR INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENOR WAS HIT DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER UPON IMPACT. TS

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE FUEL PUMP FAILED AT SPEED OF 35-50 MPH AND EMPTIED 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS UNTO ROADWAYS. WEATER WAS DAMP AND WET,HOT WEATHER OR DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES COULD OF CAUSED INJURY. *CB
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS INTAKE. ALSO STATED THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WERE HE WAS HIT WHERE THE GAS INTAKE IS LOCATED AND STARTED LEAKING GAS. DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AT THE TIME OF THIS CALLED. TS
FIRESTONE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GOOD NAME BRAND. THEY HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEMS AS OF LATE. I DID NOT LIKE THESE TIRES ON THIS TRUCK WHEN I BOUGHT IT. NOW I'M JUST STUCK WITH THEM UNTIL SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS. DT

THE VEHICLE FISH TAILED WHILE DRIVING, BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE DESIGNED FOR A PASSENGER CAR NOT A TRUCK.*JB
FORD MADE A EXTENDED CAB WITH BACK DOORS. BY FORD ELIMINATING THE B-PILLAR OR POST. FRONT DOOR IS JUST LATCH TO THE REAR DOOR WITHOUT A POST TO SUPPORT IT. WHICH CAN RESULT IN MINIMAL STRENGTH AND PROTECTION AGAINST SIDE IMPACTS. *JG
THE WALL ON THE TIRE SHREDDED. THE TREAD HAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE RIM ON THE OUTER WALL. DT
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING CLUTCH PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR, AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THE PIN ON MASTER CYLINDER FELL OUT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS

DT: CONTACT STATES: SHE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW FORD RANGER IN 2000 AND SHE HAS HAD TO PUT 2 TRANSMISSIONS AND 2 TORQUE CONVERTERS ON THE VEHICLE WITHIN 70,000 MILES. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WERE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. SHE WROTE A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF FORD AND TO THE NEW MOTOR VEHICLE BOARD AND TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS. SHE HAS TALKED TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT FORD. SHE HAS ALSO TALKED TO THE REPRESENTATIVE IN DEARBORN MI. THERE WAS 34,000 MILES ON THE FIRST TRANSMISSION SHE REPLACED. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT. *NM THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO FEEL A SLIPPING SENSATION WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED.*JB
WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP SIGNALING FOR A LEFT TURN AND OTHER DRIVER HIT ME FROM BEHIND AT APROX. 30 MILES/HOUR. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, ALTHOUGH MY SEATBELT LOCKED AND I WAS SLUNG FORWARD, MISSING THE WINDSHIELD BY ONLY AN INCH OR TWO.

WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR CLUTCH PEDAL MOVED FREELY, CONSUMER UNABLE TO USE CLUTCH TO SHIFT. GEAR LEVER HAD TO BE FORCED INTO GEAR. PLEASE ADD FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
