TAKATA RECALL I WILL LET YOU DRIVE MY RANGER ANYTIME. BEEN OVER 2 YEARS STILL NO AIR BAGS FROM FORDS.
WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYMORE ABOUT THIS RECALL, AND HESITATE TO DRIVE IT, ESPECIALLY OUT ON THE HIGHWAY SYSTEM.

TAKATA RECALL - MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH RECALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS ON BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SID/ I HAVE TAKEN THE RECALL NOTICES TO THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM, AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON ORDER AAEVERAL MONTHS AGO. PAST THAT, THE DEALER HAS NO INFORMATION AND IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY. FORD'S WEBSITE HAS A LOT A FLUFF, BUT NO ANSWERS. I HAVE TWO QUESTIONS: FIRST, ARE BOTH OF THESE PERMANENT REPLACEMENTS? IF THEY AREN'T, THEN WHAT IS THE POINT? SECOND, CAN THE TAKATA AIRBAGS BE REMOVED AND/OR REPLACED IN THIS VEHICLE BY MEANS OTHER THAN THIS INSANE RECALL?
TAKATA RECALL; I TOOK MY 06 FORD RANGER TO JIM BURKE TO HAVE MY RECALL FIXED ON MAY 31 2016 THEY KEPT IT ALL DAY. I PICKED IT UP AT END OF DAY ,MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS STILL ON I ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISER ABOUT IT , THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT BACK ANOTHER DAY AND I WOULD BE CHARGED TO CHECK IT OUT. TODAY IS 7/21/16 MY AIR BAG LIGHT STILL COMES ON .I DON'T THINK JIM BURKE FORD EVER REPLACED MY DEFECTIVE PART
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD FOR MY 2006 FORD RANGER BECAUSE OF THE AIR BAG PROBLEM. SAM GALLOWAY FORD IN FT. MYERS FL GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE DRIVERS SIDE REPLACED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE TEMPORARILY FIXED SO THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. WHEN I WENT TO THE APPOINTMENT, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS SO THE WORK WAS NOT DONE. I ASKED THEM TO DEACTIVATE THE AIR BAGS SO I WOULDN'T GET KILLED BY THE AIR BAG IF IT DEPLOYED AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS ILLEGAL TO DEACTIVATE THEM. I GUESS IT IS BETTER TO GET SHOT BY THE AIR BAGS THAN TO DEACTIVATE THEM. WHAT KIND OF DEAL IS THIS? NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN SO I GUESS I SHOULDN'T USE MY CAR. I JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS.

WELL, I HAD BOTH THE INFLATORS REPLACED IN 2016. SO NOW I GOT ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE THAT I HAVE TO HAVE BOTH THOSE INFLATORS REPLACED AGAIN. SO EVEN AFTER I HAD THOSE INFLATORS REPLACED TWO YEARS AGO, I NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN. DID THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE INFLATORS WITH TWO MORE DEFECTIVE INFLATORS? HAVE I BEEN DRIVING AROUND, STILL, WITH INFLATORS THAT COULD KILL ME? NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER. ALSO, WHY WAS THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY ALLOWED TO REPLACE BAD INFLATORS WITH BAD INFLATORS? THE NEW RECALL FROM FORD TELLS ME THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, YET, THEY HAVE NO PARTS.(I SAW MY DEALER YESTERDAY) SO NOW I AM STILL DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD POSSIBLY KILL ME WITH A DEVICE THAT WAS MEANT TO SAVE ME. TAKATA RECALL. DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. DEALERS CLAIM NO AVAILABILITY OF PARTS, ONE SAYS IT IS NOT EVEN DESIGNED. FORD SAYS THEY ARE MAKING PARTS AS FAST AS THEY CAN, WILL GIVE NO ESTIMATE OF WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. I HAVE CALLED THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER, WHICH I GAVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. NOW I MUST DRIVE A VEHICLE WHICH COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO LIFE.

THE ENTIRE REAR CROSS MEMBER THAT CONNECTS THE FORE AND AFT RUNNING FRAME MEMBERS ROTTED OUT AND DROPPED OFF THE TRUCK. THIS INCLUDES THE SPARE TIRE ENCLOSURE, THE CHAIN WINCH AND SPARE TIRE -- BROKE AWAY FROM THE TRUCK AS IT WENT OVER A BUMP. WITH IT WENT THE FUEL EMISSION CONTROL TUBING THAT NOW REGISTERS AS A FAULT ON THE DASH BOARD. THIS WAS A SERIOUS FAULT AND FORTUNATELY IT OCCURRED ON A RURAL ROAD INSTEAD OF A BUSY HIGHWAY WHERE IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO ANY FOLLOWING VEHICLE. ALARMINGLY, WHEN SPEAKING TO MY MECHANIC, HE SAYS THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON. IN FACT, HE HAS REPAIRED MANY FRAMES ON RANGERS -- SPARE TIRES FALLING OFF, BUMPERS FALLING OFF AND SO ON.. INDEED, THERE IS A BUSINESS WHO SPECIALIZES IN REPAIR FRAME PARTS TO REPAIR ROTTEN RANGER FRAMES. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE ENTIRETY OF THE REMAINDER OF THE TRUCK SHOWS LITTLE OR NO RUST BUT AFT OF THE REAR WHEELS IS TURNING TO SWISS CHEESE. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN TOWING A TRAILER WHEN A BUMPER FALLS OFF?. APPARENTLY, FORD HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE ENCLOSED PHOTO SHOWS WHERE THE CROSS MEMBER AND TIRE ENCLOSURE USED TO BE, THE TORN MEMBER AND THE CORRUGATED FLEX TUBING FOR THE EMISSION CONTROL WITH A PIECE OF THE FORMER SPARE TIRE CARRIER ATTACHED.

WHY IS HONDA MOTOR COMPANY PUTTING IT'S CUSTOMERS IN A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT? TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN RETAINED TO REPRESENT THE FAMILY OF A GENTLEMAN WHO DIED ON DECEMBER 22, 2015 DUE TO A DEFECTIVE DRIVER SIDE TAKATA AIRBAG IN A 2006 FORD RANGER. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN LANCASTER COUNTY, SC. METAL FROM THE INFLATOR CANISTER EXPLODED PENETRATING MY CLIENTS NECK RESULTING IN DEATH. DECEDENT HIT A COW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD CAUSING HIM TO RUN OFF THE ROAD INTO A FIELD -RESULTING IN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 3527 ROCKY RIVER RD. IN LANCASTER COUNTY, SC. CLIENT WAS NOT EJECTED FROM VEHICLE BUT REMAINED STATIONARY IN DRIVER SEAT. THERE IS NO DOUBT AIRBAG SHRAPNEL METAL KILLED MY CLIENT, AS THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY DEATH CERTIFICATE AND AUTOPSY REPORT. DOES NOT MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FAST OR SLOW. THE DEVICE CAN BE RESET BY PUSHING A BUTTON BUT THE DEVICE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WHILE DRIVING. DANGEROUS AS THE LOSS OF POWER IS TOTAL, IMMEDIATE, AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE INERTIA FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH RANDOMLY TRIPS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO STOP DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP CUTTING OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, TWICE ON AN INTERSTATE WHERE LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS MOVING SLOW DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE TRAVELING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND SHE WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A TRACTOR AND TRAILER. SO NOW SHE REFUSES TO DRIVE IT ANY MORE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNKNOWN TO FORD. I LOOKED INTO REPLACING THE SWITCH AND THE ORIGINAL SWITCH ISN'T AVAILABLE. THE REPLACEMENT IS A NEWER VERSION AND COMES WITH A "JUMPER WIRE" AND A NEW KICK PANEL COVER, WHICH IS APPARENTLY FOR RELOCATING THE SWITCH. AGAIN THIS HASN'T CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT IF THE REPLACEMENT IS DIFFERENT AND COMES WITH A RELOCATING KIT. EVERY TIME IT HAS HAPPENED THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION, I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO WHERE THE SWITCH IS LOCATED (ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE FOOT AREA INTERIOR FIRE WALL) BUT I TRIED TO MAKE IT TRIP BY KICKING MY FEET AROUND AND IT WOULDN'T TRIP THE SWITCH. THE TIMING SEEMS TO BE RANDOM, ALTHOUGH EVERY TIME IT HAS TRIPPED IT FELT HOT TO THE TOUCH.
