TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT DOWNWARDS. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AXLE FRACTURED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WRIST AND HIP INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. UPDATED 7/8/15*CN UPDATED 10/13/2017*CN

THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE CONTROL ARM FAILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS IN THE PROCESS OF INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 28,000.

THE AXLE OF THE VEHICLE HAS A FLANGE WITH A SEAL ON THE OUTSIDE, WHICH IS USED TO PREVENT EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF WATER FROM LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR. THE RUBBER SEAL WEARS OR CUTS INTO THE METAL AXLE AND NO LONGER PREVENTS WATER FROM ENTERING THE INTERIOR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90.
