I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD RANGE WITH ONLY 12,920 MILES ON IT WHEN MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY LOST AIR. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE SIDEWAYS ON THE SNOWY ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BECAUSE NO OTHER CARS WERE AROUND. WHEN THE TIRE WAS INSPECTED THE CAUSE OF THE SUDDEN DEFLATION WAS DETERMINED TO BE A SEVERED TIRE VALVE STEM. THE REST OF THE TIRE VALVES WERE INSPECTED AND 2 MORE VALVES WERE FOUND CRACKED SEVERELY. THESE WERE ORIGINAL VALVES AND TIRES INSTALLED BY FORD AT THE FACTORY. *TR
TIRE VALVE STEM FAILURE ON 2007 FORD RANGER. 1ST FAILURE DEC 08, SECOND FAILURE MAY 09. I JUST RECEIVE A REMINDER LETTER FROM FORD RECOMMENDING CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE ROUTINELY AND NOTING THAT THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IDENTIFIED WITH THESE VALVE STEMS. I CHECKED THE REMAINING TWO AND THEY ARE BOTH ABOUT TO FALL OFF. WHY ISN'T THIS A MANDATORY RECALL???? THEY INDICATE THAT IF MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY CAN BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. WELL I DRIVE ALOT AND HAVE 50K ON MY TRUCK. FORD HAS POOR WARRANTIES AND IT IS NOT MY FAULT THEY DID NOT PROPERLY TEST THESE VALVE STEMS PRIOR TO DEPLOYING THEM. I ONLY HAD MY TRUCK FOR 1 1/2 YEARS BEFORE THE FIRST FAILURE. THIS KIND OF STUFF NEEDS TO BE FIXED. NO WONDER THE BIG THREE ARE IN SUCH A WORLD OF HURT. IF THEY WOULD JUST PUT OUT GOOD VEHICLES AND STAND BEHIND THEM. *TR
TIRE DEFLATED DUE TO A CRACKED VALVE STEM. A SECOND DEFLATION THREE DAYS LATER ON ANOTHER OF THE TIRES. THAT ALSO HAD A CRACKED VALVE STEM. I DECIDED TO HAVE THE REMAINING TWO VALVE STEMS REPLACED AS I FELT THIS WAS TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE. I HAD THE WORK DONE AT A LOCAL TIRE SHOP. I OWN A 2007 FORD RANGER. *TR
I HAD ALL 4 VALVE STEMS FAIL ON MY 2006 FORD RANGER WITHIN A WEEK. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2007 FORD RANGER CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING 45-60 MPH. THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO WEATHER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT THE ICE BUILD UP IN THE WHEELS AND THREW THE WHEELS OFF BALANCE. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD HIM THAT THE WHEELS WERE NOT MANUFACTURED TO PREVENT WHEEL VIBRATION. *AK UPDATED 03/30/07.*JB
