RECEIVED RECALL 98V323000. CONTACTED DEALER & TOOK VEHICLE IN ON APPOINTED DAY. REPAIRS WERE DONE. AFTER RECEIVING VEHICLE, THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED ON SUBFRAME. THE FRAME WOULD SHIFT & MAKE NOISE. WOULD BEND STEERING WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS.AK
TRANSMISSION WOULD DIE OUT AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT BUT VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO MOVE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD JUMP/JERK FORWARD. TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER. *AK
WAS AT STOP LIGHT WHEN GEARS HAD GRINDED. VEHICLE STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS ON A HILL & THEN STOPPED ALTOGETHER. HAD NO FORWARD GEAR. VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC. WAS INFORMED NO FORWARD GEARD. THE TRANSMISSION HAD BROKEN DOWN & NEEDED REPLACING. THIS WAS THE 3RD TRANSMISSION IN 3 YEARS. *AK
AFTER PARKING THE CAR AND TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING FOR 17 HOURS. THE KEY HAD TO BE PUT BACK INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNED OFF AGAIN. DEALER SAID VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH. *AK

I HIT A DEER THAT RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DOING 45 MPH. MY AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP,TALKED TO SERVICE DEPT. MGR.HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY ALRIGHT, TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD CHECK COMPUTER . CALLED FORD MOTER COMPANY TO SEE HOW TO GET INFO. ABOUT DEFECT, THEY REFERRED ME BAACK TO LOCAL DEALER. I DON'T WANT TO GET BEHIND WHEEL OF CAR WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAG, I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL GO OFF, EXPLAINED THIS TO BOTH PLACES. FORD TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO APPLY FOR A FORM TO HAVE IT DISCONNECTED. NHTSA RECALL 98V323/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 98S36. REAR SUBFRAME CORROSION. WHEN DRIVING THERE WAS A BANGING, AND THE FRONT END SHOOK. FRONT SUBFRAME CORROSION IS EXACTLY LIKE THE REAR PROBLEM. DEALER CONTACTED AND COULD REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TO AIRPORT STOPPED AT LIGHT, STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND COMING OFF THE FREEWAY RPM'S WON'T GO DOWN ,AND VEHICLE WENT UP TO HIGH SPEED. CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND BRAKES WERE HARDENGINE KEPT ON RACING HIGH. CONSUMER HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO STOP TENGINE FROM RACING HIGH ,AND TO BRING VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP.*AK
TRANSMISSION DESIGENERATED AT 89,500 MILES
WAS CHANGING THE FAN BELT. HAD TO REMOVE BRACKET TO GET TO WHERE TENSIONER PULLEY WAS INSTALLED. THE TENSIONER PULLEY HAS BEEN RELEASED TO REPLACE FAN BELT. UPON REPLACING THE TENSIONER, THE PULLEY BROKE IN HALF. THE PIECE OF METAL THAT WAS USED, WAS MADE OF ALUMINUM & NOT STEEL. FINGERS COULD GET CAUGHT IN PULLEY & WOULD HAVE TO CUT PULLEY TO RELEASE FINGERS. *AK
DELAY WIPER STALK SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE. LOOSES CONTACT AND WIPERS FREEZUP. EVERY TAURUA OWNER I KNOW HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. REPLACEMENT SWITCHES FAIL PREMATURELY ALSO. I DRIVE FORDS IN A FLEET AND ALL SIMILAR SWITCHES FAIL.( VARIOUS YEARS AFFECTED). *AK

AT 53699 MILES, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT PULL, DEALER REMOVED AND OVERHAULED TRANSACLE AND REPLACED BOTH OUTER CV BOOTS, 3 MONTHS LATER MORE PROBLEMS OCCURRED WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AIR CONDITIONER FAILED AND 4 MONTHS LATER FAILED AGAIN AFTER REPAIR. POPPING NOISE IN STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING. STRUT BUSHINGS NOISY AND TIE RODS WERE REPLACED. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 65MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 85 MPH, AND KEPT GOING UNTIL THE OCCUPANT HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO STOP IT. DEALER DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

CONSUMER WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15MPH WHEN VEHICLE LOST POWER, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING ON AN INCLINE. THERE WAS A BULLETIN 94-M84-AX4S FOR THE TRANSAXLE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT VEHICLE, AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, IN WARRANTY, 14.000 MILES LATER PROBLEM OCCURRED. RECALL 93V106. *AK
THE TRANSMISSON COULD NOT BE ENGAGED IN EITHER FORWARD OR REVERSE AND A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. A CHECK WITH REPAIR SPECIALISTS DISLOSES THAT THERE IS AN INHERRANT PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSON WHICH PRDICATED FORD TO ISSUE A SERVICE BULLETIN IN 1994. THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTEE WAS EXTENDED TO 7 YEARS FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE OR 60,000.00 MILES. THE REPAIR TOTAL WAS $2400.00 PLUS TOWIING CHARGES. WITH REGARD TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN VEHICLE TRAVELS AT SPEED OVER 65 MPG THE CHEKC ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR 20 TO 30 SECONDS AND SHUTS OFF NUMEROUS TIMES. WHEN VEHICLE TRAVELS UNDER 65 THERE IS NO PROBLEM.ALL FLUIDS ARE FILLED, NO OTHER INDICATION OF PROBLEMS. FORD AUTHORIZED DEALERS CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
FRONT AXLES HAVE A RUBBER CUP ON THEM WHICH WEARS OUT AND BREAKS, DIRT ACCUMULATES AND VEHICLE WILL GO INTO NEUTRAL AND THERE WOULD BE NO CONTROL. DEALER NOT CONTACTED, AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
I HAVE RECENTLY HAD MY TANSMISSION REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT ALLREADY HAD BEEN REPLACED ONCE. I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THERE IS A HESITATION WHEN I FIRST TAKE OFF, AND SOMETIMES IT ACTS LIKE IT IS COUGHING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, OR LIKE SKIPPING, IF I LET OF OF THE GAS WHEN IT DOES THAT AND THEN PUSH BACK DOWN IT USUALLY STOPS. I AM AFTRAID THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO GO OUT AGAIN. ALSO WHEN I USE MY OVERDRIVE, IT FEELS REALLY STIFF AT 55, AND DOES THAT SKIPPING THING AGAIN. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE. *AK
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 98V323000 & CONTACTED DEALER. AFTER ARRIVING WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PARTS. DID NOT FURNISH DATE WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. DEALER SAID HE ONLY RECEIVED ENOUGH PARTS FOR VEHICLES THAT THEY HAD SOLD. *AK
VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING CORROSION AROUND THE SUBFRAME MOUNTS. THE BRACKETS NEEDED REPLACING ON THE SUBRAME, RECALL 98V323000. VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL DUE TO VIN, BUT HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, CONSUMER FELT SOMETHING IN THE STEERING, LIKE A POPPING SOUND. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LOST SPEED. WHEN CONSUMER PUT TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND THEN TRIED TO PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE RACED. ALSO, WHEN PUTTING IN REVERSE THE ENGINE RACED, AND THE CONSUMER COULD'NT MOVE THE VEHICLE. *AK

DRIVING AT 40 MPH. LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM FRONT OF CAR. CAR IMMEDIATELY INCREASED SPEED TO 80 MPH. BRAKES FAILED. CAR STOPPED ONLY BY THROWING INTO PARK. ACCORDING TO DEALER, RIGHT REAR MOTOR MOUNT SNAPPED, TILTING ENGINE FORWARD, SEVERING THROTTLE CABLE. MOTOR ALSO LIFTED UP HOOD RESULTING IN SEVERELY DENTED HOOD. IN PROCESS OF LIFTING INTO HOOD, ALSO SEVERED RADIATOR HOSES. TOLD BY DEALER THAT MOTOR MOUNTS COMMONLY FAIL WITH NO WARNING TO DRIVER. I WAS LUCKY THAT I COULD STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY INJURIES TO MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE. HAD THIS FAILURE OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY AT A HIGHER SPEED, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP.
WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH, WHEN CAR CLUNKED TO A STOP. THE CAR THEN IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH AND BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND THROW CAR INTO PARK TO STOP CAR. ACCORDING TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THE FRONT RIGHT MOTOR MOUNT SNAPPED. THIS CAUSED THE MOTOR TO LIFT UP INTO THE HOOD, SEVERING THE THROTTLE CABLE AND RADIATOR HOSES. ACCORDING TO DEALER, MOTOR MOUNTS COMMONLY GO BAD AND ARE PART OF NORMAL YEARLY MAINTENANCE CHECKS. FUNNY THAT THE PAMPHLET THAT FORD PUTS OUT ON RECCOMMENDED YEARLY MAINTENANCE DOESN'T MENTION THIS ANYWHERE. THE DEALER ALSO SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECENT RECALL ON ENGINE MOUNTS AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED. REPAIRS WERE DONE INCLUDING THE RECALL, INSURANCE COVERED PART. DEALER REFUSED TO GIVE ITEMIZED REPAIR TICKET TO CUSTOMER AND GAVE NO PROOF THAT RECALL WORK WAS DONE. NOW THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS LEAKING. DEALER SAID WAS OLD LEAK AND NOT CAUSED BY EVENT. NEVER HAD A LEAK BEFORE. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED, OR EVEN IN A SCHOOL ZONE AT THE TIME, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE DEALER THAT DID THE REPAIRS IS FAMILY AUTO FORD; 6105 E. 38TH ST.; INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46226; PH. 317-545-8551. SERVICE ADVISOR, BENJAMIN BELL WAS VERY RUDE AND UNCOOPERATIVE TO BOTH US AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND A COMPLAINT IS FILED WITH FORD. WHEN WE QUESTIONED THE REPAIRS, WE DID NOT GET FAR, AND WERE BLUNTLY TOLD THAT IT WAS ALL CAUSED BY US NOT DOING THE PROPER MAINTENANCE CHECK. HE SAID MOTOR MOUNTS COMMONLY GO OUT WITH NO WARNING AT ALL.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE BROKE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WORN OUT FRONT AXLE, AND A/C O-RINGS LEAK. *AK
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THERE IS A BUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE CONSUMER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE MOTOR IS RACING. ALSO, THERE IS SOME KNOCKING AND RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS THERE IS A LOUD NOISE. CONSUMER HAD THE SUBFRAME REPLACED. *AK
THE REAR MOUNTING PLATE HAD CORRODED/RUSTED. THIS CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO GO THROUGH THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE WAITING AT A STOP SIGN TRANSMISSION EXPLODED. THERE WASN'T ANY WARNING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HAD VEHICLE TOWED HOME. *AK
FRONT RIGHT WHEEL STOPPED RESPONDING TO STEERING WHEEL, CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. COULD BE FATAL IF HAPPENS IN HIGHWAY BECAUSE ONLY ONE WHEEL WOULD RESPOND TO STEERING WHEEL. I'M ONLY DRIVER TO THIS CAR - PURCHASE NEW FROM SHEEHY'S FORD-ALL REPAIRS DONE ONLY AT DEALER- NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT NOR A TRAFFIC TICKET-NEVER DRIVE CAR FASTER THAN 65 M/H-CAR WAS AT DEALER 2 MONTHS BEFORE BECAUSE IT HAD LOST A MOTOR SUPPORTING NUT-SAME DEALER WHO FIXED THIS TIME=JERRY'S FORD.- THANK YOU- LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. *AK
