ENGINE MOUNTS DETERIOATED AND FAILED. VEHICLE IS OUT OF SCOPE OF THE RECALL ISSUED (TSB# 92M77)
ON COLD MORNINGS, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY STAW AFTER FIVE MINUTES OF DRIVING. ALLOWING THE CAR TO WARM UP AT IDLE DOES NOT ELIMINATE PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE CAR'S COMPUTER REPORTS NO PROBLEMS AND THEY ARE AT A LOSS WHAT TO DO.*AK

BODY MOUNTS AT THE REAR CORNER OF THE SUBFRAME BECAME DETACHED . OWNER HAD THE MOUNTS REPLACED AT 28K MILES PRIOR . THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED PRIOR TO/AFTER RECALL REPAIRS.
THE PLANETARY GEAR FAILED, CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE MALFUNCTIONS, CAUSING THE BUCKLE TO RELEASE WHEN USING THE SEAT BELT. IT DOES NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *AK

CONSUMER RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE IN APRIL. SHE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER IN APRIL/MAY AND AUGUST. THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE RECALL ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING INTO PARKING LOT, LOST CONTROL OF STEERING, NOTICED SMOKE & FLAMES UNDER HOOD, FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED & PUT FLAMES OUT, FUEL LINE GOING TO REGULATOR HAD BROKEN, SAID NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT, VEHICLE TOTALED. *AK *JB

CONSUMER STARTED TO TURN INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN TIE ROD BROKED DUE TO MISSING MOTOR MOUNT BOLT. FORD HAS A BULLETIN ON BOTH COMPONENTS. *AK
INNER TIE RODS BROKE, CAUSING THE FUEL LINES TO BREAK ALSO, RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL. IN ADDITION, THE WHEEL POINTED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION. PRIOR INVESTIGATION OPEN. *AK
IN MARCH OF 1997, THE LEFT FRONT SPRING ON MY MOTHER MARGARETS CAR FRACTURED/FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY. AS A RESULT, THAT SIDE OF THE CAR BASICALLY COLLAPSED TO THE GROUND AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN WITHOUT DOING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE TIRE AND OTHER SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE CLOSEST AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT SPRING HAD INDEED FAILED/FRACTURED. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $426.70 IN JULY OF 1998, I (DANIEL ZEHLER - SON OF MARGARET) RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD HAVING TO DO WITH A SIMILAR/IDENTICAL DEFECT ON 1993 TAURUS AND SABLE VEHICLES. IT TURNS OUT THAT I OWN A 1993 TAURUS. PER THE RECALL LETTER, THE SAFETY DEFECT IS AS FOLLOWS: "THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ON YOUR VEHICLE CAN FRACTURE IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED IN HIGH-CORROSION AREAS OF NORTH AMERICA FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION OF THE FRACTURE ON THE SPRING THERE IS SOME POSSIBILITY THAT THE TIRE CAN BE DAMAGED. A FRACTURED SPRING CAN CAUSE ONE SIDE OF YOUR VEHICLE TO BE LOWER THAN THE OTHER, CAN RESULT IN CLUNKING OR RATTLING NOISE OR CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RIDE ROUGHLY." IN THE WHAT WILL FORD DO CATEGORY, THE LETTER STATES THAT FORD IS PROVIDING ADDITIONAL WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR FRONT SPRING REPLACEMENT, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2001. IN THE WHAT SHOULD WE DO CATEGORY, THE LETTER STATES THAT "IF EITHER OF THE VEHICLE'S FRONT SPRINGS SHOULD FRACTURE DURING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD, CONTACT YOUR DEALER. AT NO COST TO YOU/US, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS." IN THE MEANTIME, SO AS TO PREVENT TIRE DAMAGE SHOULD THE SPRING FRACTURE, FORD HAS DEVELOPED A SPECIAL PLASTIC PROTECTIVE SHIELD, WHICH HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON OUR 1993 TAURUS. AS THE 1992 & 1993 TAURUS MODELS ARE VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE RECALL ON THE 1993 TAURUS'S SHOULD ALSO APPLY TO THE 1992'S AS OUR DEFECT SEEMS TO BE IDENTICAL TO THAT WHICH FORD HAS ALREADY AGREEDEFECT ONTHE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON FREEWAY WITH COMPUTER TRAFFIC SLOWING DOWN AT 15 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AROUND 45MPH OR ABOVE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. MOVED VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD & TURNED IT OFF & RESTARTED. HAD TAKEN TO MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR PROBLEM. HAD THE FUELD PUMP REPLACED 3 TIMES & THE COMPUTER CHIP REPLACED. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TEST DRIVEN. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
EXPERIENCED WATER PUMP FAILURE, REPLACED WATER PUMP AND FAN BELT, COOLANT. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED.
EA-96019, BEHIND THE HEADLAMP SWITCH THE PLASTIC CONNECTOR MELTED ONTO THE LIGHT SWITCH, CAUSING ELECTRICAL SHOCK THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE, SMELLED. ALSO, THE HEADLAMP/DASHBOARD TAIL LIGHTS TURNED ON AND OFF WILDLY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ALL THE COMPONENTS MENTIONED ABOVE WENT DEAD, NO AIR CONDITIONER, POWER WINDOWS AND LOCK AND RADIO CAR COULD NOT BE OPEN AND WINDOWS COULD NOT BE ROLLED AIR CONDITIONED FAILED COMPLETELY AND GAUGES (FUEL AND HEAT WENT OFF, CAR WAS STILL RUNNING.
WHEN PLACING THE VEHICLE FROM PARK INTO REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BROKE, CAUSING THE SELECTOR TO MOVE WITHOUT OPERATOR'S CONTROL. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. *AK
PREMATURE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *AK

FRONT/REAR ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AND WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES. *AK
ANTILOCK BRAKES GRAB.
THE BRAKE POWER ASSIST IS INOPERATIVE. THERE IS A PLASTIC FITTING THAT CONNECTS 3 PIECES OF RUBBER TUBING & THESE RUBBER TUBINGS CONNECT ENGINE VACCUUM TO THE POWER BRAKES. THE PLASTIC FITTING BREAKS IN COLD WHEATHER BECAUSE OF THE VIBRATION OF THE ENGINE AND CAR BODY. *AK
BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, FOOT ON BRAKE, PUT INTO DRIVE, VEHICLE WENT INTO OPEN THROTTLE POSITION, IMPACT 12:00 POSITION, RPMS UNKNOWN. *AK
WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE FREE POSITION THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FROM THE PARK POSITION UNLESS YOU WIGGLE KEY A BIT FIRST. ALSO THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE WHEN HITTING THE BRAKES THE FIRST TIME. VEHICLE NOT TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. *AK
ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS/TRANSMISSION/CV JOINT/AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED. *AK
DURING A FRONTAL IMPACT ACCIDENT AT 50 MPH, THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
DURING VEHICLE OPERATION THE SPEED CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKES WHERE APPLIED. THIS PROBLEM HAS TAKEN PLACE ON TWO OCCASIONS. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE RESTRAINT BELT DID NOT RETRACT. *AK
