BUT NEITHER WAS THE PROBLEM.HE THEN SPOKE TO A FEW OTHER MECHANICS WHO TOLD HIM IT WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH 3.8L FORD TAURUS ENGINES DUE TO FAULTY HEAD GASKETS. ALL OTHER PROBLEMS ARE SELF EXPLANATORY. *AK

TRANSMISSION- SHIFTS ERRATICALLY, VIOLENTLY SHIFTS INTO LOW GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS(THIS IS NOT PASSING GEAR). SEEMS TO OCCUR ONLY WHEN WEATHER IS VERY HOT AND HAVE BEEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. FORD WILL NOT REPLACE THE MOUNTS EVEN THOUGH A SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED. REASON - OVER 60,000 MILES, ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL DEALER.

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE DOESN'T GIVE ANY PRIOR WARNING BEFORE CUTTING OFF. ALSO, WHEN APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE JUST SLOWS DOWN , NOT GIVING THE VEHICLE ANY TYPE OF POWER. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES, DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE VEHICLE STALLS AT ANY POINT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BETWEEN HOT AND COLD. AFTER THE VEHICLE COOLS DOWN, IT WILL START AGAIN. THE DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, GIVING NO PRIOR WARNING. THE VEHICLE JUST SHAKES ALOT. WHEN APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR AND TOUCHING THE ACCLERATOR, THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER TOO. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TO FIVE TIMES. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
SHORT IN TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CAUSED HEADLIGHTS TO GO OUT TWICE.
MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE AT 30,000 MILES, AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND BROKE AGAIN AT 82,000, DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THE SECOND REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS OF BRAKE COMPONENTS, PADS, ROTORS (8 PAD REPLACEMENTS, 4 ROTOR REPLACEMENTS) DUE TO RAPID WEARING, CALIPERS HAVE ALSO FROZEN RESULTING IN THE REPLACEMENTS OF ROTORS/PADS.

DEALER HAS REPLACED THEM TWICE. *YC WHEN THE MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE IN JULY, THE MOTOR FLEW UP AND BENT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD AND CRACKED THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT FORD FIX THE AIR CONDITIONER. *SLC
