VEHICLE OVERHEATS WITHIN 5-30 MINUTES OF OPERATION. I HAD THE WATERPUMP REPLACED AT 87,000 MILES THEN HAD THE THERMOSTAT RELACED 2 WEEKS LATER. I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE OVERHEATING THEN COOLING DOWN EVER TIME I OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE RADIATOR TEST AND FOUND ON PROBLEMS WITH THIS UNITS OPERATION.
REAR BRAKE DRUMS AND SHOES MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING REAR WHEEL TO LOCK UP WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *YC
LUBE TUBE TO TRANSMISSION PLANETARY GEAR DID NOT FIT PROPERLY INTO CASE CAUSING REAR PLANETARY FAILURE, ALMOST RESULTING IN COLLISION WHEN VEHICLE REFUSED TO GO INTO SECOND GEAR.
BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKET/4 MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, AND ALTERNATOR MALFUNCTIONED.
TRANSMISSION MADE WITH ALUMINUM RINGS MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED VEHICLE TO STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. REPLACED TRANSMISSION WITHOUT THE ALUMINUM RINGS. *AK
THE TRANSMISSSION WAS RECALLED ON THE 1991 - RECALL # 94M84 - LISTED AS IRRATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION - THE 1994 MODEL HAS THE SAME FAILURE. FORD REFUSES TO RECALL THE YEAR. THE ONLY RECALL THEY SHOW ON THIS YEAR WAS IN 1997 FOR A HOSE AND IT WAS CONSTRAINED BY TIME & MILEAGE. MECHANICS EVERYWHERE ARE AWARE OF ALL THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THE FORD TAURUS OF ANY YEAR. PLEASE CALL ME WITH ANY HELP YOU MAY HAVE. AS A MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY WITH 3 KIDS WE CAN NOT AFFORD THE $1500 (MIN.) + IT WILL COST TO PAY FOR THIS. ESPECIALLY SINCE WE STILL HAVE A BANK NOTE ON THE CAR FOR 2 MORE YEARS. THIS IS A CONCERN FOR MANY PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION. THE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT AFTER IT WAS FIXED 3 YEARS AGO THROUGH A RECALL BY FORD. CURRENTLY FORD HAS A NEW DESIGN GASKET WHICH THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK
CYLINDER HEAD AND WATER PUMP FAILED WHILE DRIVING.
AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT 55 MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATES AND PULLS TO THE LEFT. ALSO, THE TIRE ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IS WEARING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. VEHICLE STARTED MOVING AT 5 MPH, AND THERE WAS LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. *AK
WHEN DRIVING A LONG DISTANCE, HEADLIGHT SWITCH WILL OVERHEAT, CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO SHORT OUT. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK CONSUMER ATTACHED PHOTOS OF WIRE HARNESS HEAT DAMAGE AND DEFECTIVE SWITCH. *TT
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE TRAFFIC CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULD GO. THIS IN MY MIND WAS A DANGEROUS SCENARIO. FINALLY, I ENDED UP PAYING 1197. BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS DIAGNOSED AS FAILING. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A VEHICHLE AT 67,000 MILES NOR SHOULD THIS ELEMENT OF DANGER OCCUR. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING WHICH MAY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT OR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. DEALER WILL REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 40MPH, THE CAR SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO FIRST GEAR, THROWING BOTH MY SON AND WIFE FORWARD, MY SON HIT THE DASH BOARD, AND MY WIFE INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. MY WIFE AT THE WAS SCARED, THAT SHE EVEN LET OUT A SCREAM. THIS IS TO ME A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. POTENTIALLY A PERSON COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR CAR. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE FROM STOP. WHEN FINALLY INGAGED WOULD JERK AND SHIFT AND OVER REV. SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL.
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE DRIVING. CONSUMER BELIEVED THIS IS ALSO MFR. DEFECT FOR VEHICLE WITH ONLY 76000 MILES OF WEAR. DEALER NOT CONTACTED AT THIS TIME. *AK
WHEN DRIVING THE HEADLIGHT'S WILL COME ON AND GO OUT,CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. CONSUMER WILL NOT TO HAVE A GOOD VIEW WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, HEADLIGHT'S GET DIM. *AK
WHENEVER DRIVING TRANSMISSION WOULD SKIP & MAKE LOUD BANGING NOISES. VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE & WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE GEARS. TOOK TO TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, SAID THAT THE ALUMINUM PISTON IS DEFECTIVE AND CAN LEAD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *AK *ML
VEHICLE HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, AND IT WAS AS A RESULT OF A TIMING COVER GASKET THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE HEAD GASKET WAS RECALLED BY FORD, BUT THE REPAIR OF THE TIMING COVER GASKET WOULD BE $426. AT CONSUMER EXPENSE, CONSUMER IS NOT SATISFIED SINCE THE HEAD GASKET WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. *AK
FORWARD ENGINE MOUNT SHOULD NOT FAIL SO OFTEN... PERHAPS A REDESIGN IS IN ORDER
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS, SUCH AS LOSING POWER, AND THERE IS A CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IT FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD BLINK ON AND OFF WHENEVER THEY WERE BEING USED. THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WAS BURNED OUT AND REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL # 98V009000 FORD/HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT BREAKER.
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STOPPED, CAR WAS TOWED TO SHOP. MECHANIC STATED THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE, INSPECTION OF TRANSMISSION IS BEING DONE . *AK
THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH TIE ROD END. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE CAR STARTED PULLING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN FROM WHICH THE CONSUMER WAS STEERING. WHEN THE CONSUMER GOT OUT OF VEHICLE TO VIEW THE TIRE, THE TIRE WAS GOING ALMOST IN AN HORIZONTAL POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
REAR PASSENGER DOOR BROKE AWAY FROM THE HINGES WHEN HOLDING ON THE TOP OF THE DOOR. VEHICLE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. NOT YET SEEN AT DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM.
HEAD GASKETS NEED TO BE REPLACED TWICE
ENGINE FAILURE - DRIVING ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY, CAR STALLED - AFTER SEVERAL DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS TO FIND PROBLEM, PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TEETH ON THE GEAR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DISTRIBUTOR HAD BROKEN OFF. THIS TYPE OF STRESS FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. THE FORD COMPANY HAD BEEN NOTIFIED AND WOULD NOT CONSIDER ANY RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM BEING OUTSIDE THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THE OTHER PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED WAS THAT THE SPEEDODOMETER HAD BEGUN TO FAIL.... GOING FROM ZERO TO 60 AND BACK AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING. A SPEED SENSOR HAD FAILED. THE CAR WAS ALSO DOING A HARD JERKING AT ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR. FORD DEALERSHIP HAD TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT 2 OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEARS WERE BAD AND WE HAD THEM REPLACED. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I HAD FOUND OUT FORD HAD MANY (I MEAN MANY) PROBLEMS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM IN ALL THE FORD TAURUS VEHICLES. STILL THE DEALERSHIP FORD COMPANY WOULD DO NOTHING INCLUDING FILING THIS COMPLAINT STATING IT WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE BACKED SOME IT NOT ALL OF THIS UP CONSIDERING THE MILEAGE AND PROBLEM HISTORY OF THIS VEHICLE. DISTRIBUTER GEARS SHOULD HAVE NEVER BROKEN OFF UNLESS THE METAL COMPOUND HAD BEEN DEFECTIVE. *AK
THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHEN IN MOTION. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. *AK
VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE PARKED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AND HIT A STONE FENCE RESULTING IN INJURY TO TWO PASSENGERS INSIDE.
CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE AND IN PROCESS OF TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT, AND THE FUEL GOT ALL OVER THE ENGINE. *AK

TRANSMISSION FAILED TO OPERATE. VEHICLE NEEDED TO RUN FOR A WHILE BEFORE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO GEAR. AT TIMES CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO APPLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEFORE TRANSMISSION WOULD GO INTO GEAR. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER SUFFERED FROM CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES, AND WAS HOSPITALIZED. CONSUMER WAS TRANSPORTED FROM ONE TO ANOTHER DUE TO HIGH LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN HIS BLOOD . 15 IS DANGEROUS. CONSUMER HAD CONSUMED UP TO 18- BLOOD C/O RATING. DEALERS REPAIRED MISSING BOLT IN MANIFOLD MUFFLER ASSEMBLY. GASKET EXHAUST CONVERSION OUTLET PIPES/TUBES/RETAINER TUBE PUSH CONNECTION/MUFFLER, RESONATOR,AND RIGHT EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT. THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION FOR COOLANT LEAKAGE THROUGH HEAD GASKETS--IE-98-080. *AK
CLUTCH PISTON FAILURE.
CONSUMER EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH COIL SPRING OR SHOCK ASBORERS. MFR. RECALL WAS DONE CONCERNING EITHER PROBLEM. DEALER/ MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER ANY RECALL. CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT EXISTS UNDR RECALL, AND MANUFACTURER DOES NOT ACCEPT.*AK
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED AS A PART OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SERVICE PROGRAM NUMBER 98M01 FOR PREMATURE HEAD GASKET FAILURE AT MIDDLETON MOTORS IN MIDDLETON, WI IT WAS NOTICED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A TIMING GASKET COVER FAILURE. THIS ALSO SEEMS PREMATURE FOR A FAILURE OF THIS TYPE. I HAVE WRITTEN TO FORD REQUESTING TOTAL REIMBURSEMENT AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THEM. THANK YOU FOR UTILIZING THIS INFORMATION.

THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HESITATES TO SWITCH GEARS, AND AT TIMES LUNGES FORWARD. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
VEHICLE, WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE BURNED ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS.CAUSED WXTENSIVE DAMAGE.
THE ALUMINUM FORWARD PISTON CLUTCH TRANSMISSION CRACKED AND OVERHEATED. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. THERE IS TSB THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY A STEEL TRANSMISSION. DEALER ALSO REPLACED MOTOR MOUNTS. *AK
WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED, IT WILL JUMP AHEAD, AND WHEN ACCELLERATING FROM A STOP, IT WILL JERK BACK. HOWEVER, WHEN TRAVELLING AND TRYING TO PASS IN LANES, THE CAR WILL NOT INCREASE SPEED, DEALER CONTACTED, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. *AK

TRANSMISSION SLIPPING-STICKING IN GEAR, REAL JERKY WHEN SLOWING DOWN- TOOK TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD NEEDED NEW TRANSMISSION
MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED, ONE ORIGINAL AND TWO REPLACEMENTS PARTS EACH YEAR, GARAGE HAS INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDS REPLACEMENT BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES.*ET
