WHILE DRIVING AND TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT .THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED AT COST TO OWNER. *AK
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE WIPERS WEREN'T WORKING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR . THE DEALER HAS REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FOUR TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCLERATED TO 90 MPH IN SECONDS. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE INOPERATIVE. HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP VEHICLE. DEALER SAID IT MIGHT BE THE PASSING GEAR OR A VACCUM HOSE WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN CLOGGED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK
AFTER DRIVING FOR 1.5 HRS DURING A 86 DEGREE DAY, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, ALTHOUGH THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE REMAINED IN THE "NORMAL" RANGE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START UNTIL AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE IGNITION MODULE WAS REPLACED AT THE TIME, BUT A YEAR LATER, THIS PAST WEEKEND, THE SAME TIME HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR STOPPED AFTER A 1.5 HOUR DRIVE, AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN, UNTIL SITTING FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
SPEEDOMETER HEAD FAILURE PRODUCES ERRATIC DISPLAY FOR PROLONGED PERIODS. THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE OF THIS UNIT - FIRST AT APPROXIMATELY 60K, SECOND AT 116K. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE DEFECT - LOCAL FORD AGENCY PARTS MANAGER AFFIRMS THAT THIS PART IS A COMMON FAILURE. FORD REFUSES TO NEGOITIATE EVEN A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT. THIS FAILURE IS ATTRIBUTABLE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IS NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR.

SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER ISN'T WORKING, AND THE NEEDLE IS SWINGING BACK AND FORWARD. CONSUMER CAN'T DETERMINE HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS GOING. *AK
1. RADIATOR - FAILED DUE TO DESIGN DEFECT IN PLASTIC TO ALUMINUM CORE JOINT, CAUSING LOSS OF COOLANT, REPLACEMENT FAILED WITHIN ONE DAY. REPLACEMENT FOR THAT ONE LASTED ONLY ABOUT 20,000 ADDITIONAL MILES, SO A TOTAL OF THREE IDENTICAL RADIATOR FAILURES WITH LOSS OF COOLANT IN ABOUT 25,000 MILES ON THE SAME CAR. SAME PROBLEM ON SON'S 1995 TAURUS SEDAN WITH SAME ENGINE. ORIGINAL RADIATOR FAILED, REPLACEMENT FAILED WITHIN 1,000 MILES OF INSTALLATION. THIS EXPERIENCE SEEMS TO INDICATE A FUNDAMENTAL DESIGN DEFECT IN THE TAURUS RADIATOR. 2. BRAKE FAILURE. DEFECT IN DESIGN OF REAR CALIPERS USED WITH ABS SYSTEM ON THE TAURUS RESULTS IN RAINWATER INTRUSION CAUSING RUSTING OF CALIPER PINS THAT THEN IMPEDES PROPER RETRACTION OF THE BRAKE PADS. EXCESSIVE PAD WEAR RESULTS IN METAL TO METAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE CALIPER PISTON AND THE PAD BACKING PLATE WITH GREATLY REDUCED BRAKING EFFICIENCY. *AK
VEHICLE HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES, AT ANY SPEED. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS PUZZLED ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT COULD NOT BE CORRECTED. *YH
WHEN IT IS HOT AND HUMID, THE CAR WILL JUST DIE AFTER RUNNING APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES. THE CAR WILL USUALLY RESTART AFTER SETTING 5-15 MINUTES, BUT CONTINUES TO DIE. THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON AND ALL POWER IS LOST. HAVE HAD TO MANY DIFFERENT MECHANICS, HAVE DIAGNOSTICS DONE ON ENGINE WITH NO RESULTS. AM TOLD THAT MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS REPORTED WITH FORD/MERCURY VEHICLES.THIS HAPPENS MORE QUICKLY WHEN RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONING. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET PROBLEM DIAGNOSED OR FIXED. I AM AFRAID OF MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE STOPPING.*AK
SPEEDOMETER JUMPS FROM 65 TO 85 DEPENDING ON HOW LARGE A BUMP YOU HIT. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT REPLACEMENT PART WAS ALSO FAULTY AND COULD NOT REPLACE AT THE TIME.
CAR STALLED OUT (35MPH) NEAR END OF 200 MILE TRIP. WAS DIAGNOSED BY KING L-M AS A FUEL PUMP FAILURE, AND REPLACED AT A COST OF $507. NHTSA COMPLIANT DATA BASE INDICATES A LARGE NUMBER OF FUEL PUMP FAILURES, AND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS (I.E., CONTINUED STALLING, LOSS OF POWER, ELECTRICAL SHORTING IN FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY, ETC.). I'M BEGINNING TO WONDER WHETHER YOU PEOPLE EVER DO ANYTHING WITH THE DATA THAT CONSUMERS PROVIDE. DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT LOSS OF POWER (ENGINE SHUTDOWN) PRESENTS A MAJOR SAFETY RISK? ALSO, FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE EXISTENCE OF A DESIGN DEFECT IN THIS FUEL PUMP (SEE TSB'S # 96-7-5, 95-25-2, AND 94-16-3). THE MOST RECENT TSP SUGGESTS THAT THE OEM PUMP BE REPLACED WITH A FUEL PUMP OF A DIFFERENT DESIGN AFTER THE OEM PART FAILS. THE ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE TSP INVOLVES "REDUCED POWER, HESITATION, STALLING, AND NO-START CONDITIONS... CAUSED BY A LACK OF VAPOR PORTS IN THE (OEM) FUEL PUMP. GIVING THE DATES OF THE TSP'S(WHICH APPLY TO 1989-1995 TAURUSES), IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SAFETY DEFECT FOR A VERY LONG TIME. WHY HASN'T THIS ITEM BEEN REPORTED TO NHTSA? WHY ARE THE REFERENCED TSP'S NOT AVAILABLE ON THE NHTSA DATA BASE? FORD HAS UNGRACIOUSLY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS AT THEIR EXPENSE ONLY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS DURING THE BASIC VEHICLE WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE, UNTENABLE POSITION-- AS THE ISSUE INVOLVES (1) KNOWN DESIGN DEFECTS (PER THE TSP'S); AND (2) MATTERS OF PUBLIC SAFETY. I HEREBY REQUEST THAT A FULL AND COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF THE COMPONENT IN QUESTION BE UNDERTAKEN BY NHTSA.
WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 90 DEGREES THE ENGINE QUITS CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING THUS MAKING THE STEERING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.THE ENGINE WILL NOT START UNTILL THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO COOL DOWN (WITH THE HOOD UP) FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. A DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE ONE TIME BUT THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS DEFINITELY RELATED TO HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING/LOST POWER, AND FIRE CAME FROM FRONT HOOD. FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT CAME. VEHICLE TOWED AND INSURANCE CO. TOTALLED CAR. REPORTED OPINIONS ELECTRICAL FIRE. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

: SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT SPEED. WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 45 MPH THE NEEDLE FLUCTUATES. THIS IS THE THIRD(3RD) TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK

I HAVE REPLACED TWO SPEEDOMETERS,13 MONTHS APART & FORD MOTOR CO WILL NOT DO ANYTHING.
THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE OF A SPEEDOMETER IN THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 32000 MILES, AND WAS REPLACED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THE SECOND FAILED AT APPROX. 65000 MILES, AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED 75000 MILE WARRANTY, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WARRANTY, OR BY THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. OTHER 1995 TAURUS OWNERS I HAVE SPOKEN TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A POORLY ENGINEERED AND/OR MANUFACTURED PART AND THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKE LINES WORE AGAINST THE FIRE WALL MAKING A HOLE IN THE LINES,RESULTING IN LOST OF BRAKE FUEL.CAUSING BRAKES NOT TO HOLD WHEN APPLIED. MR
MY HUSBAND WENT INSIDE A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WHEN HE CAME BACK OUT A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. WE DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE, THE CAR IS NOT FIXED AND IS IN OUR GARAGE. ALL OF THE DASHBOARD WIRING, ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD IS BURNED AS WELL AS THE FRONT SEATS. THE ENGINE IS NOT BURNED FROM WHAT WE CAN SEE.
THE CONNECTOR TO FUEL PUMP WOULD GET VERY HOT & FALL OFF. WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET FUEL TO VEHICLE. HAD CONTACTED DEALER & WAS INFORMED THE WIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE GROUNDED. THIS WOULD ALLOW FUEL TO VEHICLE. *AK
ENGINE AND HEATER HOSE FAILED. NLM
THE DEALER HAS PUT IN TWO ENGINE AND I NOW HAVE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS ENGINE IS NOT FIT FOR ANY CAR I PUT HARD EARN MONEY INTO THIS CAR WHICH IS JUNK .
THE TRANSMISSION DROPS OUT OF GEAR AT STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS. YOU DO NOT KNOW THIS HAS HAPPENED UNTIL YOU TRY TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE. THE TRANSMISSION WILL ENGAGED SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER YOU APPLY THE THROTTLE, RESULTING IN A HARD SHIFT INTO GEAR. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND ISSUED A TSB 98-3-7. THIS HAS RESULTED IN ONE INCIDENT AT A STOP LIGHT WHERE THE CAR TO THE REAR HIT OF OUR CAR, AT LESS THAN 5MPH, BECAUSE WE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT CAPITAL FORD, IN RALEIGH NC, AND THEY ARE REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION AT THIS TIME. THE SERVICE MANAGER FEELS THAT THE TSB IS ONLY PART OF THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIIVNG HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED ON/OFF. AFTER JIGGLING THE HIGH/LOW SWITCH HEADLIGHTS COME BACK ON. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. HEADLIGHTS WILL BE REPAIRED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
I DON'T FEEL A 1995 AUTOMOBILE WITH ONLY 47000 MILES ON IT SHOULD WARRANT A NEW POWER TRAIN . MY MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON QUITE A FEW FORD TAURUS 'S I FEEL CHEATED BUYING AN AMERICAN MADE CAR BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING TO A FOREIGN CAR . THE VEHICLE WOULD QUIT RUNNING DUE TO MISSING PAR T IN ENGINE. THE MODULATOR HAD GONE BAD. THIS CUTS OFF FUEL TO FUEL PUMP. THE GAS TANK HAD SMOKE COMING OUT. TOOK TO DEALER & HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. *AK
OUR VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS USUAL PRIOR TO THE BREAKDOWN. WE HAD RECENTLY HAD THE VEHICLE TUNED UP, AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACED DUE TO A SKIP PROBLEM AND LOWER THEN NORMAL GAS MILEAGE. WE HAD JUST COMPLETED A 45 MINUTE TRIP IN THE VEHICLE AND STOPPED FOR DINNER. WE WERE IN THE RESTAURANT FOR 45 MINUTES AND THEN RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETE OUR TRIP. UPON LEAVING THE RESTAURANT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKIP BADLY, WITH SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST, AND THE TEMPERTURE GAUGE BEGAN TO RISE. WE IMMEDITALLY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE SAID WE HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. UPON CONTACTING OUR FORD DEALERSHIP WE WERE TOLD THAT YES, FORD HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT THAT WE WERE PAST THE DEC.31, 1998 DEADLINE AND THE 60,000 MILES. WE CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER INQUIRY DEPARTMENT, BUT WE WERE TOLD THE SAMETHING. WE FEEL THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *AK
WHILE AT A STAND STILL AT A RED LIGHT, CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION, IMPACT OVER 50 MPH IN WHICH NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN INJURIES TO BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER . CONSUMER HAS YET TO CONTACT DEALER. *AK
SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AT 35000 MILES FAILED AGAIN AT 56000 MILES. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 94 OTHER RECORDS OF SPEEDOMETER FAILURES ON LINE. THIS REPRESENTS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER DUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE BY THE OPERATOR OF HIS SPEED WHICH MAY RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO ANY FURTHER ACTION WHICH SHOULD BE TAKEN TO HAVE FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECALL THIS SPEEDOMETER AND REPLACE IT WITH ONE WHICH WILL WORK PROPERLY. THIS SHOULD BE DONE AT NO EXPENSE TO THE CUSTOMER. I HAVE ALREADY ASKED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REPLACE THIS SPEEDOMETER DUE TO MULTIPLE FAILURES, BUT THEY REFUSED IN A LETTER DATED 07/09/1999. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN CORRECTING THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY MATTER.
RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE PARKED AND PUNCTURED TIRE. DEALER NOTIFIED AND MADE REPAIRS. *AK PRIOR TO THIS, THE REAR SPRING BROKE AND BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT ROTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT IT HAD HOLES IN IT. *JB
INACCURATE TEMP GAUGE OCCURES MOSTLY IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT (GAUGE IS 20 DEGREES BELOW REPORTED TEMP,THIS IS EVEN AFTER DRIVING 15+ MILES OR 20+ MINS.) PRESSURE TEST HAS BEEN DONE ON COOLING SYS.,NO LEAKS,LOSING ANTI-FREEZE SOMEWHERE,HAVE TO ADD FLUID OCCASIONALLY. BRAND NEW TIRES,HAVE 6,000 MILES ON THEM.VIBRATION STARTED AFTER PURCHASE,SPEEDS ABOVE 65 MPH. BALANCED AGAIN, STILL VIBRATING ABOVE 65 MPH.( DOT NUMBER: 2242KPRL TIRE SIZE: MSP2056592 )
THE DESERT MOTORS SERVICE DEPT. SAID THAT ALTHOUGH THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, MY VEHICLE AND ENGINE WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I SENT A LETTER OF COMPLAINT AND DIGITAL PICTURES OF THE FAILED AND DEFORMED HEAD GASKET TO FORD MTR. CO., CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CTR. IN DEARBORN, MICH. BUT SO FAR NO RESPONSE
THE ODOMETER AND RPM METERS HAVE BEEN ACTING UP FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS.
SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES.SPEEDOMETER JUMPS TO VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DOES NOT RECORD THE CORRECT SPEED. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS BEING EXPERIENCED BY OTHER FORD OWNERS AS REFLECTED IN THE DATABASE OF COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS DRIVERS OF FORDS WITH THIS PROBLEM HAVE NO IDEA ON HOW FAST THEY ARE DRIVING. PLEASE ADVISE HOW YOU WILL REQUIRE FORD TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS IN YOUR DATABASE REFLECTS THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM. DUE TO THE COSTLY NATURE OF REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM AND NOT HAVING ANY ASSURANCE THAT IT WILL FINALLY BE CORRECTED PROPERLY, I AM ASKING FOR YOUR AGENCYS INTERVENTION TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE ACCIDENT RESULTING IN ONE FATALITY.*MR A WITNESS STATED THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE SWERVED IMMEDIATELY LEFT OF THE CENTER LANE. THE WITNESS WHO WAS DRIVING BEHIND THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, STATED ANOTHER VAN TRAVELING IN THE ONCOMING DIRECTION TRIED TO MANEUVER AROUND THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE TWO VEHICLES MET HEAD ON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE OTHER VEHICLE RODE ON TOP OF THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ONTO THE ROOF. BOTH VEHICLES LANDED IN A DITCH. THE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND (DRIVER) WAS KILLED UPON IMPACT. TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WERE BELTED AND SUSTAINED LACERATIONS. DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID. VEHICLE WAS HEAVILY DISABLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE DRIVER HAD TO BE CUT OUT THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER DIED AS A RESULT OF BLUNT IMPACTS TO HIS TRUNK WITH MULTIPLE FRACTURED RIBS AND LACERATIONS OF LEFT LUNG, INFERIOR VENA CAVA. LIVER AND SPLEEN. (WIFE ON BEHALF ON HUSBAND) *PH
DEALER NEVER INFORMED MANUFATURER OF PURCHASE 0F 1995 TAURUS. NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF EXTENTED WARRENTY 98M01.CALLED FORD WHO STILL HAD ME DRIVING A 1992 TAURUS.HEAD GASKET BLEW 6/10/99. COST OF REPAIR $ 993.51. DEALER MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT PROBLEM .
UPON ENTERING ONCOMING TRAFFIC DRIVER WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT OF VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP THE ACCELERATOR CABLE WAS FOUND TO BE BROKEN. VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE BODY SHOP. *AK
ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED AT 23000 MILES. THE REPLACEMENT HAS DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM. IT JUMPS AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50, AND DOES NOT SHOW THE CORRECT SPEED WHEN GOING SLOWER. IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL WHAT SPEED YOU ARE GOING. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A VEHICLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM TWICE. THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. SPEEDOMETER FAILED.JUMPS FROM 40 TO 85+ BACK & FORTH. NOISE IN DASH. THIS OCCURED IN THE BEGINNING OF A 1000 MILE TRIP ON UNFAMILIAR ROADS AT NIGHT. THIS WAS HIGHLY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAD NO CLUE HOW FAST I WAS ACTUALLY GOING ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAYS. IT APPEARS THAT FORD DOCUMENTED IT KNOWS OF THIS COMMON FAILURE AND WHY IT OCCURES BUT DOES NOT RECALL CARS AND EXPECTS OWNERS TO PAY IF OUT OF BUMPER TO BUMBER WARRANTY. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE WIRE AT BRAKE PEDAL TO BRAKE SWITCH BROKE. ONCE AT 16,000 MILES AND AT 42,000 MILE, CAUSING SUDDEN ACCELERATION, RESULTING IN FAILURE. *YC
A/C FAILED PREVIOUS YEAR WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND DEALER FAILED TO DETECT ANY MALFUNCTION. A/C FAILED EXACTLY 1 YEAR TO THE DAY LATER AND DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR A/C UNDER DEALER WARRANTY SINCE THEY HAD NOT WORKED ON THE COMPRESSOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR. IN HAVING SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH FORD OWNERS I HAVE DISCOVERED A TREND WITH PROBLEMS NOT ONLY WITH THE HEAD GASKETS, BUT ALSO WITH THE A/C. THIS APPEARS TO BE A TREND IN COMPRESSOR FAILURES WHICH LEADS TO A $900.00 REPAIR.
MOTOR MOUNTS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED BY DEALER 6/23/99 FOR RECALL 98S36,SAME MOTOR MOUNTS NOW FAILED AGAIN 9/01. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAY THE REPAIRS ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EXPECT MOTOR MOUNTS TO FAIL ON A 3.8 L FOUR DOOR PASSENGER SEDAN??? *AK
