WHEN DRIVING OVER 55MPH, CONSUMER CAN'T DETERMINE HOW FAST HE IS TRAVELING DUE TO BROKEN SPEEDOMETER. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REPAIRED. *AK
SPEEDOMETER JUMPS, . NEEDLE BOUNCES BETWEEN 0 AND 85. THIS USUALLY STARTS AROUND 50 MPH. I ALSO DON'T FEEL IT IS ACCURATE AT OTHER SPEEDS. THIS IS ALREADY A TSB NHTSA ITEM #SB051008 AND #SB051230. I HAVE TALKED WITH (3) OTHER 1995 TAURUS OWNERS, AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THE SENSOR, OR THE CABLE BUT A GEAR IN THE SPEEDO, I THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW SPEEDO FOR $700. I FEEL THAT THIS IS KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT. I HAVE A NEW 16 YEAR OLD DRIVER THAT CANNOT JUDGE HIS SPEED. THIS A DEFECT AND NOT A MAINTAINANCE ITEM. PLEASE RESPOND AS TO HOW I CAN GET THIS FIXED AT NO COST. *AK
SPEEDOMETER HEAD FAILED FOR SECOND TIME ON THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE ANOTHER 1995 TAURUS THAT DOES SAME THING. SPEEDOMETER JUMS ERRATICALLY SPEDOMETER NEEDLE "PINS" MAKES HORRIBLE CLICKING AND CHIRPING NOISE. OVER 150 COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM ON YOUR SITE. PLEASE HELP FORD DOES NOT AGKNOWLEDGE DEFECT AND WANTS FULL PRICE TO REPLACE UNIT FOR THIRD TIME. THIS IS A REAL SAFTEY ISSUE AS YOU CANNOT DETERMINE THE SPEED OF VEHICLE. ALSO, FORD HAS TSB ON THIS VERY PROBLEM. WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP ME AND OTHER 1995 TAURUS OWNERS WHO ARE FRUSTRATED BY FORD'S IRRESPONSIBLE POSITION REGARDING THIS SAFTEY DEFECT? ELECTRICALLY OPERATED ENGINE RADIATOR COOLANT FAN ONLY COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY (SHORT_CYCLES). CAR GETS HOT. I'M FORCED TO RUN THE A/C WHENEVER I'M DRIVING TO AVOID ENGINE COOLANT OVERHEATING. RUNNING THE A/C WILL MAKE THE FAN RUN, BUT IF I SHUT THE A/C OFF, THEN THE FAN GOES BACK TO SHORT CYCLING. I KNOW OTHERS WHO HAVE RELATED THE SAME STORY. CAN YOU HELP? SPEEDOMETER FAILED DECEMBER OF 1997 AND WAS REPLACED JAN. 3,1998. HOWEVER, POSSIBLE DEFECT OF THE REPLACED SPEEDOMETER FAILED ON JUNE 1999 AND WAS REPLACED AGAIN JULY 6, 1999. *YC
INITIAL THROTTLE ENGAGEMENT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO BREAK WHEN COLD.
THE DEFECTIVE FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE WHILE IN REVERSE POSITION WHICH MAY HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, THERE IS A RECALL ON THE COIL SPRING FOR THE 1994 TAURUS. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH SPEEDOMETER GOES UP TO ABOUT 80 TO 85MPH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ONE DOESN'T KNOW HOW FAST VEHICLE IS GOING. SPEEDOMETER ARM BOUNCES BETWEEN 65 AND 85 MPH. *AK
SPEEDOMETER REPLACED TWICE DUE TO ERRACTIC PERFORMANCE.
CRUISE CONTROL IS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. BEGAN FAILING IN COLD WEATHER ONLY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION IN WHICH NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN THE DRIVER, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND KNOCK HER OUT. *AK
AT 36,000 MILES VEHICLE EXPERIECED AN INOPERATIVE SPPEDOMETER WHICH DEALER REPAIRED/REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW AT 55,000 MILES PROBLEM REOCCURRED, AND DEALER REFUSED TO HELP UNLESS COST WENT TO CONSUMER. *AK THE REPAIR WAS DONE AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. *YH
CLUTCH SLIPS CONTINUOUSLY.
SPEEDOMETER VERY ERRATIC. FROM 40 MPH AND HIGHER, WOULD BOUNCE BETWEEN 40 AND 85. DID NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I WAS DRIVING. WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS ALRIGHT FOR 15 MONTHS. ACTED UP AGAIN IN DEC. 1997, SAMETHING. FORD REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY WIFE IS DRIVING ON BELTWAYS AND OPEN ROAD. *AK
WHILE DRIVING HAD AIR CONDITIONER ON AT ABOUT 65MPH THE CAR STALLED AND DIED OUT FOR 30MIN. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER HAS YET TO REPLACE PARTS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
CONTACTED MR.JAC NASSER BY CERTIFIED MAIL AND WAS SUSEQUENTLY CONTACTED BY A MR.LANCE TANG WHO STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD.THERE IS A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN 97-12 WHICH ADDRESSES THIS PROBLEM AND ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REFUSES TO DO ANY FURTHER REPAIRS ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WHICH CAUSES THE SPEEDOMETER TO FLUCTUATE WILDLY AT SPEEDS IN THE VICINITY OF 40 - 50 MPH. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS CLAIM AS THEIR CONTENTION IS THAT IT IS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURS. THIS IS NOT FIXING A PROBLEM IT IS ONLY A BAND AID TO GET THE VEHICLE PAST THE WARRANTY MILEAGE. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS COVERED BY FMVSS101. NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONE DIN SUMMARY. *AK
FUEL PUMP FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RIDE ROUGHLY AND TO STALL INTERMITTENLY.
TRANSMISSION DOESOT ENGAGE INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
WATER LEAKING INTO VEHICLE DUE TO A PROBLEM W/THE SEAM ON FLOOR PANEL.
SPEEDOMETER PERFORMS ERRATICALLY.
SPEEDOMETER HEAD FAILED AT ~40K MI, ERRATIC AND INACCURATE SPEED INDICATED. IDENTICAL FAILURE OF REPLACEMENT HEAD 14 MONTHS LATER AT ~54K MILES.
FAULTY SPEEDOMETER HEAD CAUSED SPEEDOMETER TO PRODUCE A RATTLING SOUND AND THE NEEDLE WOULD BOUNCE AND JUMP MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE THE SPEED WHILE DRIVING, TWO YEARS PASSED AND THE PROBLEM REOCCURED BUT THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR AT OWN EXPENSE. NLM
SPEEDOMETER FAILED AND REPLACED, THE REPLACEMENT SPEEDOMETER FAILED ALSO. *MJS
WHILE PARKED VEHICLE STARTED IDLING THE THEN IT DIED. THE GAS GAUGE WAS REGISTERING EMPTY.OWNER ATTEMPTED TO PUT GAS IN THE TANK,VEHICLE DID NOT REGISTER. OWNER LOWERED THE GASS TANK AND REALIZED THAT THE SENDING UNIT'S COMPONENTS WERE BURNED AND MELTED, AND THE WIRES HAD BURNED THROUGH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE FLOPS DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE METER WHEN VEHICLE HITS ANY SLIGHT BUMP. THEN THE NEEDLE DANCES AROUND A LITTLE BEFORE GOING BACK UP. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN CRUISE CONTROL. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF SITUATION, AND STATED THAT THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE. *AK
MICHELIN XW4 P205/65R/15 TIRES BLEW OUT, DAMAGING VEHICLE.
WAS TRYING TO GET ON HIGHWAY; TOOK FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN, VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING. APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT STILL ACCELERATED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. HAD TO FORCE VEHICLE INTO PARK AFTER GUIDING TO SIDE OF ROAD TO STOP. TOOK TO DEALER & EVERYTHING WAS WAS REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AND I HAVE TALKED TO AT LEAST 5 OTHER TAURUS OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN THE 3.8 LITER FORD TAURUS. THIS REALLY SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD PROVE DANGEROUS SINCE STEERING PROBLEMS CAN OCCUR WITH ENGINE MOUNT FAILURES.
ENGINE STARTS INTERMITTENTLY CAUSED BY FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER WILL PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. *AK
THE SPEEDOMETERS ON 1995 FORD TAURUS CARS ARE FAILING REGULARLY, AND FORD KNOWS THEY ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY ARE REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE UNITS WITH OTHER DEFECTIVE UNITS, UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRES AND THE OWNER IS LEFT WITH A BILL IN EXCESS OF $600.00 TO REPLACE THE UNIT. DUE TO THE EXTREMELY HIGH COST OF REPLACEMENT, MOST OWNERS WILL OPT TO DRIVE IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION, I.E. WITHOUT A WORKING SPEEDOMETER. FORD SHOULD REDESIGN THIS SPEEDOMETER AND REPLACE ALL EXISTING UNITS IN A GENERAL RECALL AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION. *AK
WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOT START. THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AND THE VEHICLE WILL START. THIS IS A REPEATING PROBLEM. *AK
SPEEDOMETER: WOULD MAKE NOISE; NOT WORKING PROPERLY; CAN NOT TELL WHAT THE SPEED IS; HAD IT REPLACED DUE TO BOUNCING AROUND. ABS SYSTEM HAD ERRACTIC PATTERN.
AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUALLY MALFUNCTIONS, UNABLE TO FIX.
THIS IS 3RD.FAILURE & I HAVE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO GET COOPERATION FROM THE GRAND PRAIRIE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED THIS PART TWO TIMES AFTER MUCH BICKERING AND REFUSAL AND DENIAL OF RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A UNIVERSAL PROBLEM AND FORD SHOULD CONTINUE TO REPLACE THIS PART WITHOUT ANY HASSELLS FOR THE CONSUMERS.NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED WITHIN SUMMARY. *AK
THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL CANNOT BE HELD IN UNLESS THE WHEELS ARE POINTED DIRECTLY AHEAD. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THE DEFECT IS INHERENT WITH THIS MODEL CAR, THE 1995 FORD TAURUS. *NLM
INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT HOSE MATERIAL IS NOT ADEQUATE AND ALL HOSES HAD TO BE REPLACED.
THE DEFECTIVE REAR DOOR LATCH UNLOCKS UNEXPECTEDLY. DEALER REPLACED LATCH 1 TIME. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM. *AK *SLC
SUDDEN ACCELERATION.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS AFTER STOPPING IN WARM WEATHER. CAR WILL NOT PROCEED. WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL MECHANICS WITHIN FORD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND THERE IS AN UPDATE, BUT FORD SAID IT WON'T COVER THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS A DEFECT. *AK
THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN BROKEN SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED YET THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. NLM

DRIVER'S SIDE SHOULDER BELT IS COMING ACROSS THE CONSUMER'S THROAT. A BELT EXTENDER HAS HELPED SOMEWHAT. *AK

WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THEN APPLYING THE GAS, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN IT JUMPS FORWARD. DEALER SAID NEW TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE PUT INTO VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ENGINE SHUTS DOWN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF "ALUMINA" FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON IN TRANSMISSION STALLS, CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO ENGAGE IN POSITION. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED NO DRIVE POWER AFTER COMING TO A STOP, UNTIL THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED FULLY. THIS CAUSES THE TRANSAXLE TO JERK INTO GEAR WHICH IS DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC AS THIS NORMALLY OCCURS AT STOP LIGHTS.
