WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THE FRONT END IS VIBRATING DUE TO MOTOR MOUNTS BREAKING OFF. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE OFF. DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE.
ON HOT AND HUMID DAYS WHEN THE AIR TEMPERATURE IS AROUND 90 DEGREES AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR AT LEAST 40 MINUTES, THE ENGING WILL STALL; USUALLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES. WHEN THE ENGINE DOES STALL ALL POWER IS LOST ALSO.
WHILE DRIVING SPEEDOMETER WAVES BACK AND FORTH OVER TWO-THIRDS OF DIAL RANGE, READING INCORRECT INFORMATION, SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED BUT FAILED AGAIN, SPEEDOMETER FAILURES REOCCUR AT INTERVALS OF ABOUT 15,000 MILES.*AK *TT
SUDDEN ACCELERATION EXPERIENCED, REPLACEMENT OF THE ACCELERATOR CABLE AND PEDAL DID NOT REMEDY FAILURE, SUDDEN ACCELERATION EXPERIENCED AFTER REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHERE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY , SEAT BELTS WERE WORN. MANUFACTURER CONTACTED. *AK
WIRING HARNESS MELTED/OVERHEATED, SOME OF THE WIRES BURNED OFF THEIR INSULATION. THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE UNLESS DRIVER TIGHTENS THE LATCH. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *AK
LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW SHATTERED.
THE SPEEDOMETER JUMP IS NOT SOMETHING THAT ONLY WE ARE EXPERIENCING. OTHER'S WITH THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL ARE ALSO. WE DO NOT FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY IN EXCESS OF $300 TO CORRECT AS IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INSIDENT AND HAS HAD NUMEROUS TSB POSTED FOR THE PROBLEM.
THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED AT 25345 MILES COVERED UNDER THE 45,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND IS FAILING AGAIN WHEN IT REACHED 53500 MILES. IT SWAYS BACK AND FORTH ONCE THE SPEED IS OVER 50MPH AND IS VERY NOISY. THERE IS ALSO A LOUD RATTLING NOISE (JUST LIKE A SHORT CIRCUITING SOUND) COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER SWAYS. MOST OF THE TIME THE NEEDLE STAYS AT OVER 85MPH EVEN IF SPEED IS 60MPH OR LESS. THE DEALER IS ASKING ABOUT $500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT I THINK THEY SHOULD FIX IT FOR FREE SINCE THE FIRST FAILURE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE PART WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT PROPERLY MANUFACTURED IN THE FIRST PLACE. I THINK NOT KNOWING YOUR SPEED IS NOT SAFE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND ADVICE. THANK YOU. *AK
ABS BRAKE PROBLEMS; WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE WHOLE FRONT END VIBRATES AND SHUDDERS. THIS HAPPENS ON ANY ROAD CONDTIONS, UNDER ANY TYPE OF BRAKING SITUATION. ALSO, BRAKE PADS, SHOES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED IN 1997 WITH 9,920 MILES. 3,000 MILES LATER THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES REOCCURRED. THE BRAKE PADS HAVE SINCE BEEN REPLACED 2 MORE TIMES, EACH TIME FOR DEFECTIVE WARPED PADS. *AK *ML
AT TIMES SPEEDOMETER WILL MAKE A BUZZING NOISE, AND NOT SHOW THE CORRECT SPEED. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. *AK

LEFT TURN SIGNAL CANNOT BE PUT IN AND HELD IN TO TURN LEFT. ONLY WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT OR TO THE RIGHT DOES THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WORK PROPERLY. DEALER STATES IT IS INHERENT WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, IMPACT 12:00 POSITION, SPEED 35MPH, DRIVER'S SIDE LAP/SHOULDER BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT, CAUSING INJURIES. *AK

INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). 1995 FORD TAURUS,FAN MOTOR FROZE, FORD SAID THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE CIRCUIT BREAKER BUT NOT THE FAN WHICH IS NOW FROZE UP AGAIN DUE TO MILEAGE (142,000). I'VE REPLACED MOTOR NO LESS THAN THREE TIMES SINCE 1997 BEFORE FINDING OUT ABOUT RECALL. ALSO I'VE REPLACED A REAR MOTOR MOUNT TWO TO FOUR TIMES SINCE 1997. A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE BOUGHT OR BUILT IN CERTAIN OTHER STATES HAVE RECALLS ON WHAT SOUNDS TO BE THIS SAME PROBLEM CAUSES ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION TO FALL CAUSING ACCIDENT. FORD WILL NOT FIX. FIRST OCCURRANCE WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 19000 MILES, SPEEDOMETER REPLACED AT 21215 MILES; PROBLEM RECURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 33000 MILES, DEALER LUBED SPEEDOMETER CABLE; PROBLEM RECURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES, SPEEDOMETER REPLACED AT 51252 MILES; PROBLEM RECURRED AT AT 69,650 MILES, SCHEDULED TO HAVE SPEEDOMETER REPLACED AGAIN MAKING THIS THE FOURTH SPEEDOMETER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. *AK

GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40MPH, AND WHEN A BUMP IS HIT ON THE ROAD THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPS TO 60MPH WHEN ONLY GOING 40MPH. NOW THE CLUSTER ON THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *AK
SPEEDOMETER KEEPS BREAKING. CONSUMER'S HUSBAND CANNOT TELL HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING. SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *AK *ML

CONSUMER HAS REPLACED THE SPEEDOMETER ONCE, AND HAS TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. WHEN DRIVING OVER 45 MPH IT JUST STARTS TO SPIN ,AND THE CONSUMER CAN'T TELL HOW FAST THEY'RE GOING. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND CONSUMER HAS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS. *AK
AT 22000 MILES FORD DEALER REPLACED FAILED SPEEDOMETER DUE TO NEEDLE BOUNCING. THE REPLACEMENT SPEEDOMETER READS 28000 MILES AND IT HAS FAILED. THE NEEDLE JUMPS FROM 40 TO 85 MILES PER HOUR AT TIMES IT READS 45 MILES PER HOUR AND I THINK I AM GOING FASTER THAN 45 A- LOT FASTER. I HAVE CONTACED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE ANOTHER SPEEDO INSTALLED. THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND THEY DO NOT THINK THEY HAVE ANY PROBLEM. YOUR SITE LISTS MANY WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, IT IS IN NEED OF THE FORTH TRANSMISSION, AND THE CASE IS CRAKED. THE DEALER STATES THAT THEY WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FORTH TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS AT 37,000, THE SECOND WAS 87,000, NOW AT 100,000 THOUSAND MILES THE VEHICLE NEEDS ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHR INFORMATION
HAD APPLIED BRAKES AFTER GOING 35MPH, WHEN ENGINE REVVED UP & SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. PRESSED BRAKES HARDER & VEHICLE STOPPED. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, VEHICLE WOULD JUMP EITHER BACKWARD OR FORWARD ABOUT3-5 FET. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC REPLACED IAC MOTOR/T-BODY/THROTTLE CABLE/PUMP RELAY & SOME OTHER PARTS. *AK

TEMPERATURE GAUGE GIVES A DIFFERENT READING EVERYTIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN. *AK
12/18/96: THE TARAUS I WAS DRIVING WAS HIT IN THE SIDE BY ANOTHER CAR. I WAS THROWN INTO MY SHOULDER HARNESS, WHICH FUNCTIONS MORE AS A "NECK NOOSE". WITHIN 24 HOURS, I HAD SWELLING, BURNING, PAIN IN MY NECK AND SHOULDER WHERE I HAD COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE SHOULDER HARNESS. WHEN MY INJURY WAS ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED, WHICH TOOK TWO YEARS (2), BEFORE THE "BLOOD FLOW" CHANGED ENOUGH TO BE DIAGNOSED ON A 3-PHASE BONE SCAN AT MAYO CLINIC, I LEARNED I HAD REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY, ALSO KNOWN AS COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME.(RSD & CRPS). BOTH ARE KNOWN TO BE THE HIGHEST ON THE MCGILL PAIN INDEX FOR "TYPES OF PAIN", AT LEVEL 42. CANCER IS 28, AND NO PAIN IS 0. WHEN I LEARNED THAT I HAD RSD AND THAT IT BEGAN AT MY NECK INJURY, I CONTACTED FORD'S LEGAL DEPARTMENT, TO ASK THAT THEY CHANGE MY SEAT BELT TO THE NEW DESIGN THEY IMPLEMENTED IN 1996 MODELS (RSD ONLY GOES INTO REMISSION, WHEN TREATABLE. FORD DIDN'T "REFUSE" TO CHANGE MY SEAT BELT, BUT MERELY "IGNORED ME". I SPOKE WITH AND FAXED CHRIS IN THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT. I ASKED THE VP OF FORD, MR. SHEELE, ON 7/11/03 TO MAKE THE SAME REPAIR, WHEN I TOLD HIM OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH SERVICE, QUALITY, AND REPAIR FROM FORD. I HAVE HEARD FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT WITH NO ACTION, HOWEVER I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM MR. SCHEELE'S OFFICE, REGARDING MY SEAT BELT PROBLEM. FORD KNEW OF A PROBLEM WITH "WHERE" THE SEAT BELTS CROSSED NECKS, WHICH IS WHY THEY CHANGED THE DESIGN IN 1996! I WISH I'D KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEFORE MY ACCIDENT, SO THAT I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A SAVER EUROPEAN CAR. NOW, I HAVE A HIGH LEVEL OF PAIN FOR LIFE, CALLED RSD, WHICH TRAVELS. MY LIFE HAS BEEN ON "HOLD" SINCE 12/18/96 AND I CANNOT "PLAN" ANYTHING. I MUST CARRY MY "MEDICAL RECORDS" WITH ME ANYWHERE I GO, BECUASE OF THE NATURE OF MY TREATMENT, AND THE DRUGS INVOLVED. FIRST WEEK OF OWNERSHIP WAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS, AND CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK. PROBLEM WAS ELECTRIC COOLING FAN MOTOR. THEN CRUISE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. PROBLEM-BRAKE WIRING HARNESS. LAST MAJOR PROBLEM WAS ROCKER ARM MALFUNCTIONED AT 39,166 MI. REPAIR BILL FOR THAT WAS 879.88. *AK
SPEEDOMETER IS INACCURATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. YH
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE OWNER SMELLED WIRES BURNING, HE THEN NOTICED A RED GLOW UNDERNEATH DASHBOARD, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, OWNER JUMPED OUT JUST IN TIME. *AK
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WIRING: DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15-20MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE ROAD AND RAISED HOOD . SMOKE AND SPARKS WAS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASH. IN LESS THAN TWO MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES . WAS TOLD THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO FAULTY WIRING. *AK
SPEEDOMETER HEAD HAS BEEN REPLACE TWICE. BOTH TIMES THEY HAVE HAD 35000 MILES ON THEM.
ENGINE HEAD GASKET WENT OUT TWICE. DEALER REPLACED THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET DUE TO OIL LEAKING. ALSO, CRANKCASE WENT OUT, AND THE DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK AT TIMES, AND THEN AT TIMES IT WILL START TO SPIN AROUND. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
THE ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED AT 38,000 MILES. THE NEW SPEEDOMETER BECAME DEFECTIVE (BOUNCING UP AND DOWN, INACCURATE, FINALLY, INSERVICEABLE) WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 35,000 ON IT. I HAVE REPORTED THE DEFECT TO THE DEALER, FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND HAVE WRITTEN TO THE PRESIDENT OF FORD. ALL REPLIES WERE NEGATIVE. SINCE MY COMPLAINT TO THE PRESIDENT OF FORD, THE PART HAS GONE UP FROM $250 TO $500 (IN A MATTER OF 3-4 MONTHS).
A DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETER HEAD CAUSES SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE TO MOVE, AND CANNOT READ THE ACCURATE SPEED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT SPEEDOMETER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD IS NOT WILLING ASSIST CONSUMER. *AK
AIR LEAKS FROM MICHELIN TIRES AFTER SEVERAL REPAIR ATTEMTPS.
