I RESEARCHED PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS ON SPEEDOMETERS READING INCORRECT OR ERRADICLY. THIS SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND IS QUITE COSTLY (APPROX $350-400). THERE WERE 8 OTHER COMPALAINTS IN REGARDS TO THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM! THAT IS QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING IN TO THIS AND E-MAILING ME WITH A RESPONSE WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE. I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT HAVING THE VIN NUMBER HANDY. THANK YOU.
AIR VENTILLATION SYSTEM EMITS STRONG ODOR WHICH IRRITATES LUNGS.
SPEEDOMETER FAILS BETWEEN 25,000 AND 40,000 MILES. OWNER HAS NOTICED THIS ON FOUR DIFFERENT TAURUS'. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACE ON THE CURRENT VEHICLE AND THE REPLACEMENT HAS ALSO FAILED.

RECALL ON HEAD GASKET MAY RESULT IN ENGINE OVERHEATING OR ENGINE FAILURE, THIS FAILURE HAS NOT YET OCCURED AND REPAIR CAN NOT BE DONE UNTIL FAILURE IS EXPERIENCED DUE TO RECALL GUIDELINES.
TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY AND UNPREDICTABLY SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP. WHEN IT ENGAGES, IT DOES SO WITH A HARD JERK.
VEHICLE IS USED FOR DRIVER EDUCATION COURSE, WHEN DRIVEN, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE JUMPS FORM 45 TO 85, GIVING DIFFERENT READINGS. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER REPLACED PARTS. *AK SPEEDOMETER IS FLUCTUATING AGAIN, DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE UNLESS CONSUMER PAYS REPAIR COSTS. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE THE TIMING BELT BROKE, CAUSING WATER PUMP TO EXPLODE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK

ANTI LOCK BRAKES LOCK UP IN EMERGENCY STOPPING CAUSING VEHICLE TO PULL.
WHILE DRIVING AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. CONSUMER THEN NOTES VEHICLE WILL JERK FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. DEALERS ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM.
HEAD GASKETS FAILED.
SPEEDOMETER DANCES.
WHEN DRIVING BEYOND 50 MPH THE SPEEDODMETER DOES NOT REGISTER THE VEHICLE SPEED. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
VEHICLE'S COOLING FAN FAILED TO OPERATE, CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. DEALER REPAIRED PROBLEM, BUT COSUMER WAS CHARGE A DEDUCTION FOR THE REPAIR. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL # 97V-019 ON FILE, DEALER INFORMED VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. *AK
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE SPEEDOMETER BETWEEN 25000-40000 MILES.
WHEN INCREASING SPEED FROM ABOUT 15 TO 20MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN. *AK
SPEEDOMETER BOUNCED UP AND DOWN AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60 AND 75 MPH. REPLACED ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER, APROXIMATELY 24000 MILES LATER REPLACEMENT STARTED DOING SAME THING, INFORMED REPLACEMENT HAD ONLY A 1 YEAR WARRANTY NEW ONE WOULD COST AT LEAST 300 DOLLARS.
TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO SHIFT INTO NETURAL WHEN AFTER COMING TO A STOP THEN SHIFTS INTO FORWARD GEAR AND JUMPS FORWARD RAPIDLY(THISMAY BE BECAUSE I'M PRESSING ON THE GAS ASSUMING IT IS IN A FORWARD GEAR. THIS HAS SEVERAL TIMES TO ME. I HAVE TALKED TO ANOTHER PERSON WHERE I WORK, AND HE HAD TO HAVE HIS TRANSMISSION REPLACED(ABOUT $2300).
DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FAILED.
WHEN APPYLING THE BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

THE ENGINE COOLING FAN BURNED OUTAND SMOKE CAME FROM THE FAN, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BE NON-FUNCTIONAL. DEALER SAYS THE COOLING FAN NEEDS REPLACEMENT.

ADVANDED DRIVER TRAINING SCHOOLS TEACH THAT A TRANSMISSION IS TO BE PLACED INTO NEUTRAL (N) TO HELP CONTROL SKIDS. UNLIKE MOST VEHICLES, THE 1995 FORD TAURUS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REQUIRES THAT THE LOCKOUT BUTTON (LB) BE PRESSED TO MOVE THE LEVER FROM DRIVE (D) TO N. THUS IN AN EMERGENCY, ONE COULD EASILY PUSH THE LEVER THROUGH TO REVERSE (R) OR EVEN PARK (P) WITH DISASTROUS RESULTS. THIS FAULT DOES NOT APPEAR IN OTHER FORD LINES. JUST THE FORD TAURUS SHOP. INVESTIGATION WILL SHOW: R TO N DOES NOT REQUIRE THE LB; N TO D DOES NOT REQUIRE THE LB; 1 TO 2 OR TO D DOES NOT REQUIRE THE LB; D TO N REQUIRES THE LB; N TO R REQUIRES THE LB; R TO P REQUIRES THE LB. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO REASON FOR THIS OTHER THAN JUST A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING ERROR. *AK
I AM CONCERNED IF THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD IF THE VEHICLE IS IN A ACCIDENT. *AK
RADIATOR HAD A HOLE IN IT WHICH CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS, AND CONSUMER HAS TO PRESS ON THE GAS VERY HARD TO GET IT TO CATCH, WHILE DOING THAT IT SHOOTS FOWARD VERY FAST AND HARD WITH A JERK. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
SPEEDOMETER PERFORMS ERRACTICALLY, REPLACED ONCE, IS NOW IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AGAIN.
THE FIRST SPEEDOMETER/ACCELERATOR CABLE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SECOND ONE HAS NOW BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A THIRD ONE. THE CAR IS NOT THAT OLD. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILED, REPLACED.
THIS TAURUS'S ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED @ 35,029 MILES DUE TO THE NEEDLE BOUNCING UNCONTROLLABLY. THERE WAS NO WAY TO TELL HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING. NOW THE SECOND SPEEDOMETER IS DOING THE SAME THING, AND IT BEGAN TO DO IT AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES. MY LOCAL DEALER HAS DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM. GRAHAM, AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN DETROIT, DENIED ANY MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. HOWEVER, MY LOCAL INDEPENDENT GARAGE, HART'S AUTO REPAIR, PROVIDED ME WITH ARTICLE # 97-12-5 STATING THAT FORD TAURUS AND MERCURY SABLE 1994-95 CARS HAD SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WAVER AND STICKING PROBLEMS. APPLICABLE TO THIS WERE OASIS CODES #204000, #204200, AND #302000. I WANT A NEW SPEEDOMETER WITH ACTUAL MILEAGE DISPLAYED! THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE! *AK

RECALL98S36, NHTSA /98V323000, REAR SUBFRAME MOUNTS. CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN FEBRUARY, BUT DEALER REFUSES TO HONOR OR SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL REPAIRS. *AK
ENGINE MOUNTS BROKE, RESULTING IN ENGINE MOVEMENT. ALSO, NOTICED AIR CONDITIONER /CLUTCH DAMAGED DUE TO THE BROKEN MOUNTS. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS NOT REPLACED PARTS. AFTER VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO POP OUT OF GEAR, OWNER GOT RID OF CAR. *AK *ML
SPEEDOMETER READINGS ARE INCORRECT IN WET ROAD CONDTIONS. DEALER HAS REPLACED SPEEDOMETER PRIOR TO THIS . MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
I HAVE REPLACED THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE ONE TIME, BUT DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM.
FRONT BODY MOUNTS BROKE. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE REAR BODY MOUNTS. DEALER IS REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY SPEEDOMETER IS INOPERABLE. DEALER HAS REPLACED SPEEDOMETER ONCE. *AK
