AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE USED FOR VERY LITTLE MONEY, I HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE INCLUDING SOME BRAKE WORK. THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE MY SON IN LAW WAS SLOWING TO EXIT AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. MY SON IN LAW DROVE THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD, INTO A CITY PARK TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS. ALL OF THEM INSISTED THAT THE WHOLE BRAKE SYSTEM COULD NOT FAIL AT THE SAME TIME. A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, WHO IS NOT A MECHANIC, AGREED WITH THE MECHANICS THAT A TOTAL FAILURE WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THIS FRIEND SAID HE WOULD DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WHILE TO PROVE TO ME THAT MY SON IN LAW MUST HAVE MISTAKENLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF THE GAS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, HE HAD AN IDENTICAL EXPERIENCE - TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED AS HE WAS PARKING THE CAR AND WAS ALREADY MOVING VERY SLOWLY. AFTER THAT I HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED SINCE IT WAS THE ONLY MAJOR PART IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM THAT HAD NOT YET BEEN REPLACED. AGAIN, I SPOKE WITH MORE MECHANICS, INCLUDING SOME FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANICS. THEY DID NOT THINK THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD CAUSE A TOTAL FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT COME UP WITH ANYTHING THAT COULD DO THIS. WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY AGAIN. I WAS ALREADY WORRIED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT NOT BE SOLVED, SO WE HAD BEEN DRIVING EXTRA SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. I COULD NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL OR TRADE THIS VEHICLE SO I TOOK IT TO SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP ME DISMANTLE THE CAR BEFORE JUNKING IT TO MAKE SURE IT DID NOT RETURN TO SERVICE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING DOWN STREET ABOUT 25MPH, I WENT TO STOP A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. I CHECKED FLUID LEVEL AND WAS FULL. THEN TOOK TO SHOP WHERE THEY HAD NO ANSWERS FOR WHY IT HAPPENED. SINCE THEN I DROVE HOME AND NOW THERE'S NO BRAKES AT ALL. WE CHECKED FOR BROKE LINES AND REPLACED CALIBERS AND STILL NO PEDAL. I'VE HAD BRAKES BLEED TOO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH DOWNHILL WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, SHE HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND DRIVE OVER THE SIDEWALK, CRASHING INTO A SIGN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A REPORT ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 187,000.
WHEN DRIVING FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES THE BRAKES BEGIN TO PULSATE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CARE INTO 2 MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT MY BRAKES LOOK FINE. *TR
MY MOTHER HAD A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND A ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING MY 2000 FORD TAURUS. AS SHE WAS PUTTING CAR IN DRIVE, WHEN LEAVING RESTAURANT THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SPED UP ON ITS OWN AND EVEN WHILE SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR CAR WOULD NOT STOP, THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED AS SHE WAS HEADING HEAD ON TO THE RESTAURANTS BRICK BUILDING WHERE SHE ENDED UP CRASHING INTO AND PEOPLE INSIDE RESTAURANT SAID THEY WERE HURT AS WELL AS MY CAR GOT BADLY DAMAGED AND THE BUILDING. MY MOTHER AND THE PEOPLE INSIDE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. MY MOTHER IS BRUISED AND STILL VERY SORE FROM THE ACCIDENT AND THE IMPACT WAS SO HARD WHEN SHE CRASHED INTO THE BRICK BUILDING THAT BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE THIS I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN TO OTHERS WHO OWN 2000 FORD TAURUS. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY HAD A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE IN 2002 AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BUT HERE IT IS 2009 AND IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN SO SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT WITH THESE CARS AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TAKE SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE FORD REALIZES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING AND THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. AND IF FORD SAID THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM IN 2002 THEN WHY IS IT STILL HAPPENING??????????? PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE ITS TO LATE. TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THE 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HAD ABS PROBLEMS. THE CONTACT FOUND A RECALL 05V379000 CONCERNING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL FIRMLY HE FELT A RUMBLING IN THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. HE CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT LOOKED TO BE OKAY. THE RUMBLING WAS ALSO AUDIBLE, THE HARDER ONE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE LOUDER IT BECAME. HE STATED THAT THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,5000.*AK

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE THE SAME HEIGHT AND VERY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER AND HIS FOOT ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. 08/11/11.
CONSUMER DROVE HOME IN THE RAIN, AND SIXDAYS LATER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE BACK WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN. HE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES RUSTED TOGETHER. CONSUMER HAD THE REAR BRAKES/SHOES REPLACED, AND THE ROTORS TURNED. CONSUMER NEVER HEARD OF REAR BRAKES RUSTING, AND DID NOT THINK WARRANTY WOULD PAY FOR IT. *AK *NM
CONSUMER STATES THAT HE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN HE WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A STOP, THE BRAKES MADE A GRINDING NOISE, THEN AFTER HE PUMPED THE BRAKES HE HEARD A NOISE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. HE STATED HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE MIDAS BRAKES SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT, THE PROBLEM LIES WITHIN HIS ABS. HE STATED HE HAS ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 6 MOS AND HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE HE OBTAINED THE VEHICLE. *JB

DEFECTIVE ABS SPEED INDICATOR RING. IT IS CRACKED,SLIDES OFF THE AXLE AND CONTACTS THE LOWER CONTROL ARM CAUSING FRONT END VIBRATION AND NOISE. THERE ARE NO ABS ERROR MESSAGES OR INDICATORS. MY CONCERN IS THAT IN A PANIC STOP THE THIS WILL CAUSE INCORRECT INFORMATION TO THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM AND CAUSE POOR BRAKING. FORD SERVICE SAYS THERE ARE NO SERVICE BULLETINS & WANT TO CHARGE ME $200 TO FIX WHAT I CONSIDER A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.*AK

DT: LAST WEEK THE CAR WAS SERVICED, THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AND A ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. MAY 9 2005, THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR END AND HE DISCOVERED THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS ON HIS WAY TO THE DEALER, THE REAR BRAKES FROZE UP. THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN TO DEALER, THE CONSUMER HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED.
