THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE EGR SENSOR. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB....DEALERSHIP ALSO REPLACED FRONT BRAKE PADS. *AK
I STARTED HEARING A NOISE IN THE ENGINE, PARTICULARLY WHEN ACCELERATING OR IDLING. THIS STARTED ON WED., 11/10 AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 11/17. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR HAD FALLEN APART, THAT THE BELTS WERE BARELY HOLDING IT ON, AND SINCE I AM 10 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT WILL BE $1200 TO REPAIR. AFTER CHECKING WITH A MECHANIC THAT WE USE TO MAINTAIN OTHER VEHICLES, WE FOUND THAT THIS WAS A REASONABLE PRICE SO WE AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR BY THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TO A 3+ YEAR OLD CAR WITH 32000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR, THE COMPRESSOR COULD FALL OUT AT ANY TIME AND I WOULD BE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.*AK
THE CONSUMER HAD A CONCERN THAT BOTH FRONTAL SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT FROM THE RETRACTORS. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PARTS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A MANUFACTURER RECALL. *JB THE RIGHT SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT FROM THE RETRACTORS AND THE LEFT SEAT BELT WOULD LOCK UP AND WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS LOCKED AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY LOCK UP WHEN TRYING TO UNCOIL. THE PART WAS WORN. *SC
RECALL NUMBER 04V332000: CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING TO BE CONTACTED SINCE OCTOBER FOR THE RECALL PART. HOWEVER, THE PARTS STILL HAVE NOT ARRIVED. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN CALLING THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER FOR SOMETIME NOW, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESULTS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A 90 DEGREE TURN THERE WAS NO PEDAL PRESSURE. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE LEFT REAR, THE LEFT COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER'S BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CONSUMER'S HOUSE. DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH. THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED. THE VEHICLE TOOK LONGER TO STOP AND THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT IT IS TAKING AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME HAVING RECALL 04S17 REPAIRED. THE RECALL IS FOR THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS. * NM *JB
VEHICLE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*MR THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES WHEN HIS HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. *NM
WHILE HAVING THE OIL CHANGED CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN. THERE WAS NO DEFECTS NOTICEABLE BY THE CONSUMER. IT WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT CONCERNING HEAD GASKET. *AK
WHILE DRIVING A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT DUE TO PASSENGER'S SIDE COIL SPRING BREAK. CONSUMER CALLED FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTENCE. THEN CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT COIL SPRING WAS ON RECALL, BUT NOT REAR COIL SPRING. *AK
THE CONSUMER VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH OR MORE, UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *JB
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD STAY ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
NHTSA RECALL 04V332000 ON THE FRONT COIL SPRING. NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE . *AK
REVERSING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY THIS MORNING, 8/19/2004, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM REAR OF CAR. EXAMINED AND DETERMINED REAR OF CAR WAS VERY LOW AND RIGHT REAR TIRE APPEARED DAMAGED. TAKEN TO GARAGE 2 BLKS AWAY AND FOUND BOTH REAR SPRINGS HAVE BROKEN, APPEARED TO HAVE RUSTED THROUGH AND RIGHT REAR TIRE DESTROYED. TO REPLACE THE SPINGS THE STUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SO 2 NEW SPRINGS, 2 NEW STURTS AND ONE NEW TIRE = $800. I DO NOT HAVE MY VIN# WITH ME NOW BUT CAN GIEV IT TO YOU TOMORROW. THIS CAR HAS 55K MILES ON IT, NICE EASY MILES. I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER CARS 200K+ MILES BEFORE I HAVE HAD A SPRING FAIL. NOW I'M OUT $800 AND FORD SAYS THEY ARE ONLY LIABLE FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS! PLEASE, PLEASE EXPAND YOUR RECALL NOTICE #4V332000 TO INCLUDE THE REAR SUSPENSION. AFTER REVIEWING OTHER COMPLAINTS IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I MEAN REALLY, BROKEN SPRINGS THAT ARE 3-4 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 20-50K MILES ON THEM?? PLEASE CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS PROBLEM, IF THEY HAD FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY I'M SURE I WOULD HAVE HAD BOTH TIRES PUNCTURED AND MY WIDOW WOULD BE LOOKING AT CASKETS RIGHT NOW. THE CONSUMER STATED THE EMISSION SENSOR LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ON. THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED, HOWEVER THE LIGHT IS NOW BACK ON. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER, THE CONSUMER MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WILL NOT BE IN UNTIL DECEMBER. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULLED OVER. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOWER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. *JB IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING BROKE. *NM
FRONT COIL SPRING MALFUNCTIONED. A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, THE PART WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER. *AK *TC
CONSUMER RECEIVED, NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V332000 REGARDING COIL SPRING. DEALERSHIP STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO CONDUCT RECALL REPAIRS. DEALERSHIP TELEPHONED OPERATOR, INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THAT MANAGEMENT GAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEALER TO TELL CONSUMER THAT IF THE COIL SPRING WAS NOT BROKE THEY WON'T REPLACE IT. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT SHE STRAPPED A CHILD IN A SEAT BELT IN THE REAR OF VEHICLE. LATER ON THE CHILD BECAME TANGLED IN THE SEAT BELT, AND EACH TIME AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO RELEASE THE CHILD FROM THE SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT GOT TIGHTER AND TIGHTER. THE SEAT BELT WAS SO TIGHT ON THE CHILD'S STOMACH THAT SHE HAD TO FLAG DOWN ANOTHER MOTORIST, AND GET HIM TO CUT THE SEAT BELT FROM AROUND THE CHILD. THE CHILD WAS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD. THIS ENCOUNTER LEFT BLACK AND BLUE MARKS ON THE CHILD.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE REAR COIL SPRING AND THE TIRE AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION SHOOK SINCE FEBRUARY, 2004. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD A PROBLEM, AND KEPT VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS. WHEN CONSUMER RECEIVED VEHICLE BACK SHE WAS TOLD THAT THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER PISTON BECAUSE IT WAS STUCK. ALSO, HAD PROBLEMS WIT THE WINDOWS. THEY MADE A WEIRD NOISE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY JUST REALIGNED THE WINDOWS. *AK
AIR CONDITION/HEATER FAN STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN WATER LEAKAGE CAUSING MOTOR BLOWER FAILURE ALONG WITH RESISITOR FAILURE. THEY SITED TSB 04-15-3 IDENTIFYING TAURUSES BUILT BETWEEN 5-1-01 TO 12-15-03 OF HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW TO CORRECT IT. IT COST ME OVER $500 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WHEN IT WAS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT. FORD CONSTOMER SERVICE SIMPLY STATED IT WASN'T A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM SO THERE WAS NO NEED TO RECALL IT OR COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT ANY TIME YOU HAVE WATER MIXING WITH ELECTRICAL THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE. GIVEN THE DEGREE OF CORROSION THE LEAK HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME.*AK
FRONT COIL SPRING PUNCTURES TIRE. *BF CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND HEARD A LOUD POP. THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD POPPED.
RECALL CAMPAIGN: 04 V 332 000/FRONT COIL SPRING: CONSUMER RECEIVED THIS RECALL NOTICE SINCE AUGUST 10,2004 AND STILL UNABLE TO GET THE DEALER TO HONOR THIS RECALL BECAUSE "NO PART AVAILABLE". *NM THE CONSUMER WAS MADE TO WAIT 6 MONTHS FOR RECALL SERVICE. *TC
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL, CONSUMER PULLED THE VEHICLE OF THE ROAD. THEN, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INDEPENDENT SHOP, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED REAR COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. *AK

CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V106000. DEALER STATED THAT IF THEY PERFORMED RECALL REPAIRS IT WOULD MESS UP THE ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND DID NOT GET THE REPAIRS DONE. ALSO, CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT FORD WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE ALIGNMENT IF THEY DID THE REPAIR ON THE COIL SPRING. *AK STRUTS WERE REPLACED INSTEAD OF RECALL ISSUE. CONSUMER WAS MADE TO PAY THE BILL BEFORE VEHICLE WOULD BE RELEASED. *TC
CONSUMER RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 04V332000 CONCERNING COIL SPRINGS IN AUGUST OF 2004.WHEN CONTACTING DEALE SHE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK TO HER UPON ARRIVAL OF PARTS. FOUR MONTHS HAS PAST AND DEALER STILL HAS NO PARTS.*AK......CONSUMER CALLED DEALER ON DECEMBER 15, 2004 INQUIRING WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN. WAS TOLD WOULDN'T GET THE PARTS UNTIL THE END OF JANUARY 2005. *AK
LEFT REAR COIL SPRING BROKE SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVNG ACROSS A PARKING LOT, RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE.*AK
INTERMITTENT TRANSMITION DISENGAGING. THE OTHER DAY I DROVE TO MY DRIVEWAY, SLOWED DOWN, PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, GAVE IT SOME GAS AND THE RPM'S WENT UP BUT I COULD NOT GET UP MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD MY 2001 FORD TAURAS WITH 31000 IN TWO OTHER TIMES TO THE FORD DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG, YET THEY WANT ME TO BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 HOURS WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *AK THE FIRE INVESTIGATION INDICATED THAT THE FIRE INVOLVED WIRING AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITHIN THE LOWER PORTION OF THE DASHBOARD HOUSING. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH RIGHT SIDE REAR BODY SUDDENLY FLOPPED DOWN. THE CONSUMER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT REAR SPRING BROKE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK *SC
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION, WHERE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45-55 MPH ON WET PAVEMENT,THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND CAUSED ONE OF THE TIRES TO GO FLAT. *NM *JB
I PURCHASED THE CAR ON 7/13/04, THE RECALL CAME OUT FOR THE FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM ON 7/16/04. THE MILEAGE IS 77,135. I HEARD A POPPING NOISE AND TOOK THE REAR TIRES OFF AS IT SOUNDED LIKE THAT WAS WHERE THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM. I DISCOVERED THE RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND WAS GRINDING INTO THE TIRE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD MOTOR AND AT THIS POINT, INFORMED ME THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER NO RECALL. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I ALSO ADVISED THEM THAT I WAS MAKING A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. WHY IS THE FRONT SUSPENSION UNDER RECALL AND NOT THE REAR ALSO ?? PEOPLE NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THESE ISSUES WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION ALSO. *AK
ABS OPERATED POORLY. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A STOP IMMEDIATELY. VEHICLE MOVED ABOUT 50 FEET BEFORE STOPPING AFTER BRAKES WERE APPLIED. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND NO WORK WAS DONE. THEY CHARGED THE CONSUMER, AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. BUT WHEN THE CONSUMER PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER WAS ASSURED THAT THE WORK WAS DONE. THEN, CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GOODYEAR, AND CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT AND THE PASSENGERS FRONT DOOR WAS HARD TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. *JB

DT: THE CALLER RECEIVED RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRINGS, BUT HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SPRINGS. THE CALLER SAID THE REAR SPRING FAILED, AND IT PUT A GROOVE IN THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE. THE CALLER FOUND IT BEFORE THE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CALLER REPLACED BOTH REAR SPRINGS AT HIS OWN EXPENSE WITH ANOTHER BRAND. DEALER SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE REAR SPRINGS FOR FREE. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THE CALLER ON THE REAR SPRINGS. *AK THE SWAY BAR BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES, THE REAR BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED TWICE. UPDATED 01/19/06. *JB
THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE WHEN THEY WERE DEPRESSED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. POLICE OFFICER INDICATED THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY BRAKES ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASHES ON AND OFF. SOME TIME IS STAY ON FOR AT LEAST FIVE MINITES. NO ACCIDENT.. IT COMES ON BY ITSELF. WANTED TO TAKE IT TO DEALER BUT WAS ADVISED TO CHECK TO SEE IFI THERE WAS A RECALL. I GOT THIS INFORMATION. *AK
FORD RECALLED THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FRONT COIL SPRING CORROSION, AND TEARING UP THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRING WAS THE PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT WILLING TO MAKE AN EXCEPTION. *AK THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SPRINGS FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THIS PROBLEM PUNCTURED THE INSIDE PORTION OF THE TIRE. *SC *JB
IN JUNE 2004 I HEARD A NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT A REAR SPRING HAD BROKEN AND TORN A HOLE IN ONE OF MY REAR TIRES. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. I HAD BOTH REAR SPRINGS REPLACED, A NEW TIRE INSTALLED, AND THE VEHICLE STILL MADE A NOISE. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED THE LEFT REAR STRUT ASSEMBLY. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO FORD (TWICE) AFTER THE FRONT SPRING RECALL. THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. *NM
