TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE PERFORMING A ROUTINE CHECK-UP, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRING FAILED AND WAS STRIKING THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 51,000.
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR NEW TIRES AND WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE BROKE. THE TIRES HAD A GROOVE WORE IN THEM.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE ENTIRE DAY WHEN HE FOUND IT ENGULFED IN SMOKE. THE SMOKE AROSE FROM THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE STEERING COLUMN, HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO ACTUAL FIRE. THE DASHBOARD BURNED DUE TO THE HEAT. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 108,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, IT JERKED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD. HE STATED THAT WHEN HE PLACES THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, IT ACCELERATES TOO QUICKLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL OF THE VEHICLES OF THAT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL START IN THAT MANNER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. HE TESTED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND THEY WERE FINE. HE JUMPED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. HE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM OF A PART THAT HE NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT WENT TO PICK UP THE PART FROM THE DEALER, HE NOTICED THAT IT WAS A RECALLED PART. AT THAT POINT, HE DISCOVERED NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 04V106000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH). THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL AND HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 91,097.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS AT NO CHARGE, BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE THE REAR COIL SPRINGS. THE COST TO REPAIR THE REAR COIL SPRINGS IS $185.64 PLUS THE $59.99 ALIGNMENT. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 79,900. THE CONSUMER STATED FEELS FORD SHOULD REIMBURSE ALL CONSUMERS FOR REAR COILS SPRINGS AND ALIGNMENT. UPDATED 09/18/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CRUNKING SOUND AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE. HE PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TWO REAR COIL SPRINGS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, IN ADDITION TO THE STRUTS. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,300.
2001 FORD TAURUS, PASSENGER REAR COIL SPRING BROKEN. CAUSED STABILIZER LINK DAMAGE, TIRE DAMAGE. ONE YEAR AGO A FRONT SPRING BROKE AND WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL BY FORD. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM/DEFECT AND FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND THIS AS IT DID THE FRONT SPRING DEFECT. *TR
FORD DEALER MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT RIGHT REAR SPRING IS BROKEN ON 2001 FORD TAURUS. HE ADVISED US THAT VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
REAR COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED TIRE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM FREQUENTLY WITH 2001 TAURUS MODELS. REAR TIRES AND COIL SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS NO CRASH, BUT THERE COULD HAVE EASILY HAVE BEEN. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED TO BE A SAFE FAMILY CAR TO TRANSPORT AN INFANT-THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SEVERE.
I BROUGHT MY 2001 TAURUS TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE COMPANY THAT MY FRONT SPRINGS WERE BAD. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A RECALL. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE THE RECALLED SPRINGS FIXED, I WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH OF MY REAR SPRINGS WERE BROKEN AS WELL AS MY REAR STRUTS. WHY ARE THE REAR SPRINGS NOT BEING RECALLED WHEN THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE? WHEN I WAS UNABLE TO AUTHORIZE THE DEARLERSHIP TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE IMMENSE COST, I HAD TO SIGN A WAIVER ABSOLVING THE DEALERSHIP OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT THAT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. WHY IS FORD NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE? *TR
SEARS AND THEIR DEFECTIVE CHINESE TIRES. ON JULY 26, 2007, WE PURCHASED FOUR NEW SUMITOMO HTR H4 P215/60HH16 TIRES FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD SONS 2001 TAURUS FROM SEARS IN LINCOLN, NEBRASKA. ON AUGUST 12, 2007 HE DROVE APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE TO GO TO A PARK WITH SOME OF HIS FRIENDS. SHORTLY AFTER PULLING INTO THE PARK, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT. HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CHANGED THE FLAT TIRE, REPLACING IT WITH THE DONUT IN HIS TRUNK. I HAD NEVER SEEN A NEW TIRE WITH LESS THEN 300 MILES ON IT IN THIS CONDITION. THE FLAT TIRE HAD SPLIT OPEN ALONG THE SIDEWALL. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE TIRE OTHER THEN THIS SPLIT. IT WASN'T SCUFFED LIKE HE HAD HIT A CURB AND THERE WERE NO NAILS OR PUNCTURE HOLES IN THE TIRES. TO ME, IT JUST LOOKED TO BE ANOTHER DEFECTIVE CHINESE TIRE. I HAVE HAD A TERRIBLE TIME WITH THE EMPLOYEES AT SEARS. THEY HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY UNCOOPERATIVE AND WE HAVE NOT YET REACHED A SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF WORKING TOWARDS A RESOLUTION, THEY DID FINALLY AGREE THAT THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE AND PLACED A NEW TIRE ON THE RIM. HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO PLACE THE WHEEL BACK ON THE CAR AND TOLD MY SON HE WOULD HAVE TO DO THAT HIMSELF. I EXPECT WE WILL END UP IN COURT. DRIVING ALONG A SMOOTH ROAD,CAR WAS JOLTED WITH A LOUD BANG. I DISCOVERED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED,LEAVING PART OF ITS BASE IN THE STRUT MOUNT. SECOND COIL SPRING TO FAIL ON THIS CAR. PASSENGER REAR ALSO FAILED, ONE YEAR AGO. *JB
WE HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS THAT WE BOUGHT NEW. HAD THE FRONT SPRING SHIELDS INSTALLED UPON RECEIVING RECALL NOTICE. FRONT SPRINGS ARE OK SO FAR, BUT I NOTICED THE REAR OF THE CAR SAT A LITTLE LOW IN THE GARAGE. I HAD HEARD OF SOME SPRING PROBLEMS WITH THE FORDS, AND MY SON JUST HAD THE REAR SPRINGS ON HIS FOCUS REPLACED RECENTLY AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. (HE BOUGHT THE FOCUS NEW ALSO) I SCHEDULED SERVICE AT OUR FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED BOTH REAR SPRINGS ARE BROKEN. THEY DID NOT HAVE THEM IN STOCK, SO RESCHEDULED ME FOR THE NEXT DAY. THE STRUTS DID NOT COME IN, SO NOW I'M RESCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK. NOW I DON'T KNOW IF WE SHOULD DRIVE IT OR NOT, AS I FOUND OUT THAT A LOT OF TIRES ARE BEING PUNCTURED, AND I HAD RECENTLY PUT NEW TIRES ON. FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS... *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. IN AUGUST OF 2007, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRES WERE WEARING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE REAR TIRES WERE ESPECIALLY WORN. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED. IN OCTOBER OF 2008, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED AGAIN. A PRIVATE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS CAUSED THE REAR TIRES TO WEAR. THE REPAIR OF THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WOULD COST $800. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE REAR COIL SPRINGS; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED. THE SERVICE SHOP REPLACED THE REAR SPRINGS IN THE LATTER PART OF 2006. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE SOUNDED AS IF A STONE HAD STRUCK THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000. I NOTICED A NOISE AFTER TIRES WERE ROTATED. I ASKED TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT DURING 90,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS ON 2001 FORD TAURUS BROKE. REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SHREDDED AS RESULT OF BROKEN COIL. HAD TO HAVE BOTH REAR COILS REPLACED, AND BUY TWO NEW TIRES FOR VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR SPRINGS FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE TIRES. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER REQUESTING ASSISTANCE WITH THE $1,300 REPAIR COST, BUT WAS DENIED ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 43,000. THE CONSUMER STATED REPLACED 2 TIRES WERE NEEDED 4 WERE BOUGHT, BOTH SETS OF SPRINGS, STRUTS, MOUNTS. THE DEALER STATED THE LEFT REAR BRAKES SEEM TO BE HANGING. UPDATED 08/07/07 *TR
BLOWER MOTOR ON MY FORD TAURUS AND BLOWER RESISTOR HAS SHORTED OUT BECAUSE OF A WATER LEAK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER TAURUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WILLIAM FORD WHO FILED A COMPLAINT NUMBER 10184014 IS ONE PERSON TO MANY OTHERS TO MENTION. *TR
MY PARENTS WERE GETTING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. MY DAD WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL OF HIS STRENGTH BUT THE CAR KEPT MOVING THROUGH A RED LIGHT AND INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHERE THEY WERE HIT BY SEVERAL VEHICLES. I HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75 IN TN. THE SPEED ZONE IS 70MPH. THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR BY A SEMI TRUCK. I HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME. THIS IS NOT AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A FORD DEALER AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE IGNITION. IT WAS REPLACED AND TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING STARTED. NOW I AM TOLD IT IS A GEM MODULE, OR, PCM MODULE, SEVERAL OTHER THINGS. THIS TO ME IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE. WHEN THE CAR QUITS RUNNING, AND YOU LOSE ALL POWER,AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, FROM BRAKES TO STEERING. EVEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED DOWN. IT TOOK 2 HOURS BEFORE THE CAR WOULD RESTART. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER 20 TIMES. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVER, BUT OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. IT WILL ONE DAY KILL PEOPLE. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 04V332000). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48,325.

REAR COIL SPRING BROKE ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS AND A PIECE OF STEEL FRACTURED OFF AND DAMAGED THE REAR FENDER. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER THAT SERVICES MY CARE IT IS NOT COVERED BY FORD AND BOTH REAR SPRINGS MUST BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION I NOW HAVE TO HAVE THE REAR FENDER REPAIRED AT A BODY SHOP. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE FLATTENED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND CHANGED THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AS A FAILED SPRING. THE DEALER ALSO NOTICED THAT THE REAR SPRING HAD FAILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000.

SILENT RECALL BY FORD THAT IS REPAIRED AT NO COST WHILE CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, WHEN CAR OUT OF WARRANTY, CONSUMER RESPONSIBLE FOR COST OF REPAIRING THIS DEFECT. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR RECALL SERVICE 04S17 FROM FORD, FRONT COIL SPRING SHIELDS. THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS HAVE A CRACK. THIS SOUNDS TO ME THAT THE REAR SPRINGS ARE ALSO A PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL IN TANDEM WITH THE FRONT COIL SPRING DEFECT. HE TOLD ME THAT THERE'S A POSSIBILITY THAT I CAN BLOW OUT MY REAR TIRE, SO I NEED BOTH REAR SPRINGS REPLACED. ESTIMATED COST OF LABOR AND PARTS ALONG WITH AN ALIGNMENT, $460. I'M GOING TO GET THE WORK DONE SOON, BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF THE REAR TIRE BLOWING OUT, BUT IT DOES SOUND LIKE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT JUST LIKE THE FRONT COIL RECALL.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE PREPARING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE FROM 50 MPH. THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AT THIS TIME. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO GARAGE AND THEY STATED THAT BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE COILS AND STRUTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE HER BECAUSE THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,830 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 63,956.
