TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THERE WAS A BROKEN COIL SPRING ON THE RIGHT SIDE . THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT JUST RECENTLY THE LEFT COIL SPRING BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 139,338.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WOULD LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK, AS A RESULT RPMS INCREASED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO ENGAGED THE BRAKE WITH AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED ON ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN UNRELATED REPAIR WHERE IT WAS DETECTED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE ADJUSTER WAS FRACTURED. A TEMPORARY REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE COMPONENT WAS REPLACED AFTER EACH RECURRENCE AND ONCE BY THE DEALER. THE THIRD RECURRENCE OF THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE DEFECT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN RPMS AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE12005 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I READ THIS STORY U.S. INVESTIGATES FORD TAURUSES FOR STUCK THROTTLES BY PETER VALDES-DAPENA @PETERDRIVES MARCH 12, 2012: 1:19 PM ET AND WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT BUT AFTER READING THIS I AM NOW CONCERNED. I JUST PULLED OUT FROM A GAS STATION ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 30MPH WHEN I NOTICE IT WAS STILL ACCELERATING WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AS IT WAS STILL GAINING SPEED I BECAME NERVOUS AND PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL IT DID REV UP TO A HI TACH SPEED (5000) OR BETTER. I KICKED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL QUICK AND HARD TO SEE IF THAT WOULD KNOCK IT DOWN BEFORE I WOULD HAVE TURNED IT OFF BUT IT DID WORK. I LATTER STOPPED OPENED THE HOOD LOOKED FOR ANYTHING OBVIOUS AROUND THE AREA WHERE ACCELERATOR & SPEED CONTROL CABLE COME TO AND FOUND THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE NOT CONNECTED TO THE BALL. REATTACHED IT BUT SEEMED LOOSE PLASTIC SEEMED TO BE WORN SOME. BUT HAS FALLEN OFF AGAIN. CHECKED THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE WHERE IT GOES INTO THE CONTROL BOX SEEMED TO BE LOOSE AND NO BINDING. IN ALL THE YEARS I HAVE HAD THIS CAR HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM ONE TIME....OH AND BY THE WAY JUST BEFORE I KICKED THE ACCELERATOR I DID TRY TO TURN ON/OFF THE SPEED CONTROL THINKING THAT SOMEHOW IT HAD ENGAGED BUT HAD NO EFFECT. *TR
TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED IN DRIVEWAY OCTOBER 2012. ALMOST $1000 IN REPAIR COSTS. 2004 TAURUS WITH ONLY 35,000 MILES. THE ONLY OWNER/DRIVER IS MY RETIRED MOTHER. CAR WAS ALWAYS WELL MAINTAINED. VERY FORTUNATE THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I SPENT 4 HOURS AT NIGHT WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. ALL MOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI TRYING TO GET THIS POS OFF THE ROAD. THAT WAS $150 FOR THE TOW AND NOW I NEED TO SPEND MORE TO GET THIS 2004 TAURUS RUNNING. I AM A FORD FAN AS YOU CAN TELL BY MY EMAIL ADDRESS. I EVEN DRAG RACE MUSTANGS. I AM THINKING ABOUT GOING HONDA FOR MY DAILY DRIVER. PROBLEM WAS A IMPROPERLY HEAT TREATED TORQUE CONVERTER SPLINE. HAS LEFT 100'S IF NOT 1000'S OF US STRANDED. GIVES OUT WITH NO WARNING. THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK . I FREE IT BY RE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL A NUMBER OF TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPEN TWICE OVER 5 MONTHS. ALSO I CHECKED FROM NEWS REPORT ABOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL AND FOUND THAT MY CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION AT ALL. *TR
2004 FORD TAURUS WITH APPROX 101K MILES. TURNING LEFT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE RUNS FINE, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS ZERO LINE PRESSURE AND THE PUMP SHAFT AND TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. $1700.00 OR BASICALLY A TOTAL REBUILD. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. I HAVE A 2004 FORD TAURUS SES WITH A 24V DURATEC 3.0L DOHC ENGINE AND 4F50N TRANSMISSION. MY WIFE WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ON JULY 19, 2011 AROUND MID-DAY, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LOST ALL FORWARD POWER. SHE STOPPED THE CAR AND TRIED THE OTHER GEARS WITH NO RESULT. NO MOVEMENT IN ANY GEAR, FORWARD OR REVERSE. *KB
JUST SAW THIS THAT YOU WERE INVESTIGATING ON 2005-06 FORD TAURUS MODELS IN LOCAL PAPER FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINT. MY COMPLAINT IS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL OR THROTTLE CONTROL ON MY FORD TAURUS 2004. MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. AFTER THAT, SOMETIMES MY CAR WOULD JUST LOCK ON USUALLY AT 40 TO 60 MPH AS FAR AS ACCELERATION AND EVENTUALLY DISENGAGE AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME AFTER PRESSING GAS PEDAL OR I WOULD SHUT MY CAR OFF TO RESET/REBOOT. IT HAPPENED MANY TIMES, BUT LUCKILY NO ACCIDENTS, JUST A LOT OF WEAR AND TEAR ON BRAKES. I DID MENTION THIS PHENOMENON SEVERAL YEARS AGO TO LOCAL DEALER WHEN MY CRUISE WENT OUT AND THEY SAID NOTHING UNUSUAL WAS REPORTED AND NO RECALLS AT THE TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING ON A DECLINE, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND ROLLED DOWN HILL. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANS-AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST THE CONTACT WITH THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I WAS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH A NOISE COMING FROM MY STEERING COLUMN. I TOOK IT TO BYLER FORD IN LOUISVILLE KY. CURRENTLY I DO NOT HAVE THE DATE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IF IT WAS NOT REPLACED THE AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK OR THE AIRBAG WILL GO OFF BY ITSELF. I REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING AT A COST OF OVER $400.00. THE NOISE HAS RETURNED. I HAD A LOCAL REPAIR SERVICE CHECK TO SEE WITH WAS CAUSING THE NOISE. THEY SAID THE CLOCK SPRING WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I RETURNED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND TALKED WITH THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE 2004 FORD TAURUS. THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK SPRING AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $400.00 TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. I'M CURRENTLY DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THE $400.00 AGAIN FOR A DEFECTIVE SAFETY PART. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 TAURUS AND ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK MY CAR STOPPED DEAD IN THE ROAD AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING OR ISSUES JUST MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIRS. THE TRANSMISSION WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO HIGHER SPEEDS. AFTER TRYING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT STOP. AFTER MERGING OFF THE HIGHWAY, SHE HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE HAD FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THE UNATTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
WHEN I START MY CAR, IT REVS HIGH, UP TO ABOUT 2000-3000 RPMS. WHILE SITTING STILL AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT IT WILL IDLE AROUND 1200 RPMS. WHILE DRIVING IT WILL JUST ACCELERATE OR IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS IT WILL STAY AT CURRENT SPEED OR INCREASE. I CAN PUMP THE PEDAL AND IT WILL JUMP UP TO 3000 RPMS OR SOMETIMES IT WILL CAUSE THE THROTTLE TO KICK BACK AND I CAN FEEL THE PEDAL BUMP MY FOOT. NO MATTER THE DRIVING CONDITIONS OR TERRAIN IT WILL DO THIS EVERYTIME I DRIVE MY CAR. SOMETIMES IT WILL IDLE TOO LOW BUT MOST OF THE TIMES IT IDLES HIGH OR OVERREVS WHEN IM SITTING STILL OR PULL IN AND SHIFT INTO PARK. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED DAILY SINCE THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED, ALSO THIS WHOLE TIME MY CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE. THERE WAS A CONSTANT INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS UNTIL THE CONTACT APPLIED HEAVY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT THEN DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED SINCE. THE TRANSMISSION LEAK CONTINUED DESPITE NUMEROUS REPAIRS PERFORMED BY THE CONTACT AND AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,311. UPDATED 04/13/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE NORMALLY. THERE WAS A HIGHER THAN NORMAL ENGINE RPM AND HE HAD TO USE HEAVIER THAN NORMAL BRAKING TO BOTH SLOW AND STOP THE VEHICLE. JUST PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT A SAFE PARKING AREA, THE IDLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. AFTER A BRIEF STOP, THE CONSUMER WENT BACK HOME. INITIALLY, THE IDLE WAS NORMAL, BUT THEN THE HIGH IDLE RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WA TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY, WHERE HE NOTICED TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING. THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK SHAFT AND DIPSTICK WAS EXTENDED ABOUT 3-4 INCHES ONTO THE GROUND. ALL FLUIDS APPEARED NORMAL AFTER INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE IAC AND RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC TO VERIFY PROPER INSTALLATION. THE CONSUMER THEN DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE FROM THE THROTTLE BODY AS THE HIGH IDLE PERSISTED. THE TRANSMISSION LEAK CONTINUED DESPITE NUMEROUS REPAIRS PERFORMED BY THE CONSUMER AND THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. UPDATED 04/23/12
I BOUGHT MY 2004 FORD TAURUS NEW AND HAVE HAD NO MAJOR REPAIR PROBLEMS. IT CURRENTLY HAS JUST OVER 140,000 MILES ON IT. YESTERDAY MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE, WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AT 70 MILES PER HOUR AND BEGAN MAKING A LOUD "WHINING" NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. SHE WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, WHERE SHE PUT THE GEAR SELECTOR IN "PARK" AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND PUT THE GEAR SELECTOR IN "DRIVE". THE LOUD "WHINING" NOISE CONTINUED, AND EACH TIME THAT SHE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE RPM'S INCREASED AS THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION WERE TESTED. THERE WERE NO MALFUNCTIONS DETECTED IN THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED, AS THE MALFUNCTION WAS DUE TO A FAILURE OF EITHER THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THE TRANSMISSION, OR POSSIBLY BOTH. THE REPAIR ESTIMATES WERE QUOTED TO BE ABOUT $850.00 IF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER, WHICH THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME WAS A QUITE COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT MODEL, AS THE SPLINES OFTEN STRIPPED OUT. THE SECOND QUOTE WAS FOR ABOUT $1500.00 IF METAL SHAVINGS ARE FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN, WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF A FAULTY COMPONENT IN THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE A TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL. I SEARCHED YAHOO FOR "2004 FORD TAURUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS" AND DISCOVERED AN OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THE SAME MANUFACTURER DEFECT. MANY OF THE CONSUMERS FILED COMPLAINTS WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY, BUT FORD REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE PARTS, MATERIALS, OR DESIGN. IRONICALLY I FOUND THAT THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS WERE USED IN THE 2002 TO 2006 MODELS. PRIOR TO MY 2004 MODEL, I OWNED A 2000 MODEL TAURUS WITH OVER 100,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. *TR
EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN EVEN WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE. WHILE MOVING OR STOPPED, I HAVE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, THE RPMS REV UP AND I HAVE TO TAP THE GAS PEDAL FOR THE RPMS TO DROP BACK DOWN. THEN, I HAVE TO SHIFT BACK INTO DRIVE. THE ONLY SOLUTION I HAVE BEEN GIVEN IS TO REPLACE THE IDOL AIR CONTROL VALVE (IAC) AND THAT DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING, BECAUSE I AM AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER, BUT MY 17 YR SON DRIVES THE CAR AS WELL AND I WORRY ABOUT HIS SAFETY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,105 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN TO STOP THE CAR THE RPM'S REVVED UP TO OVER 3000RPM AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN A FORD EMPLOYEE FOR 17 YEARS AND HAVE FOLLOWED ALL MAINTENANCE ON MY 2004 FORD TAURUS SE 3.0 LITER VULCAN 2-VALVE BETTER THAN THE DEALER WOULD. IT HAS 138,000 VERY EASY DRIVEN MILES ON IT. I LIVE ABOUT 35 MILE FROM THE PLANT ONE WAY. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SERVICED BY ME WITH ALL FORD PARTS, FLUIDS, ETC. NO WARNING, NO CODES FROM SNAP-ON SCANNER, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF MY WIFE WAS PULLING ACROSS THREE LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN THE TRANSAXLE JUST LET GO. NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEARS AT ALL. CAR ONLY HAD A SLIGHT VIBRATION AT 45-60MPH ON ACCELERATION FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS VERY SLIGHT AND YOU COULD ONLY FEEL IT IN THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS. SHE WAS ALMOST T-BONED BY A SUPER-DUTY TRUCK WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH HER. I HAVE SEEN ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TRANSMISSIONS. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE NOT AS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT DROP THE POWERTRAIN POD AS FORD CALLS THEM TO CHECK WHAT BROKE. I WOULD BET A MONTHS PAY IT WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE READ AND BEEN ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THEM. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE QUALITY REP HERE AT OUR PLANT AND HE DID CONTACT FORD BUT THEY TELL ME THEY HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH OF THESE GO OUT TO PLACE A RECALL ON THEM OR ENOUGH PEOPLE HURT OR KILLED. THAT IS THE MOST UNSAFE FAILURE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A CAR OF ANY TYPE. I AM A PRODUCT EVALUATOR FOR FORD AND TEST DRIVE NEW SUPER-DUTYS EVERYDAY.
