MY SON AND WIFE WERE IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. MY SON HIT THE BRAKES HARD AND FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE CAR BELOW 30 MPH. HE NOTICED THE TACHOMETER WAS RACING 3,000 RPM EVEN THOUGH HE WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE HARD. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A CONVENIENCE STORE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THIS HAPPENED ALTHOUGH I OFTEN FELT THE CAR WAS GOING TOO FAST (@ 20MPH) WHEN STARTING UP WITH NO FOOT PRESSURE ON ACCELERATOR. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND REPAIRED 2 DAYS LATER. MECHANIC SAID THE 'AIR INTAKE VALVE' WAS DIRTY (CARBON DEPOSITS) AND REPLACED. HE ALSO NOTED CAR WAS REPROGRAMMED BY THE COMPUTER. CAR PERFORMANCE I BELIEVE, WAS DUE TO MALFUNCTION OF COMPUTER OR MICROPROCESSORS WHICH CAUSED TOO MUCH FUEL TO BE INJECTED INTO THE ENGINE. *TR
GAS PEDAL STICKS AND CAR ACCELERATES. CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, SHE TURNED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. WHEN SHE PULLED OVER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SPUTTERING. SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. SHE TURNED IT OFF AND ON AGAIN BUT IT STALLED AGAIN. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND FLAMES BEGAN "SHOOTING OUT". THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY BURNED. THERE WAS A FIRE REPORT FILED WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; A FIREFIGHTER STATED THAT A FUEL LEAK COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE BUT WAS UNSURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 130,000-
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TRAVELING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE NOR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
AIR BAGS ON 2004 FORD TAURUS DID NOT DEPOLY ON FRONTAL IMPACT AT APPOX. 45MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS SE. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT SMELLED ELECTRICAL SMOKE AND FOUND THAT THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS ON FIRE. THE DEFROSTER WAS SHUT OFF AND THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS ONE OF A KIND AND ADVISED HIM TO REPLACE THE REAR WINDOW BEFORE ANY REPAIRS COULD BE MADE TO THE DEFROSTER UNIT. THE REAR DEFROST CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED ON JULY 16, 2010. UPDATED 09/27/10
THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING ON MY 2004 TAURUS FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY, WITHOUT WARNING, IMMEDIATELY AS THE CAR WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE JUST AFTER BEING STARTED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THIS DESTROYED THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE, WHICH SUDDENLY EXPLODED WHEN THE BROKEN SPRING END PUNCTURED THE SIDEWALL, CREATING AN 8-INCH RUPTURE. THE CAR HAD NOT MOVED AN INCH, AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED EXACTLY AS THE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR HAD 117,617 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *TR
WAS DRIVING ALONG MISSOURI HWY 92 AT ABOUT 35 MPH IN MY 2004 FORD TAURUS WHEN I TURNED OFF AND THE CAR SEEMED TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR. DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR AND THE TACHOMETER REVVED BUT CAR DECELERATED AND BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS BACK INTO THE HIGHWAY (I WAS ON AN INCLINE). NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON NOR WAS THERE ANY UNUSUAL AUTO NOISES. WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT ROLLED COMPLETELY INTO THE HIGHWAY. SHIFTED THROUGH ALL GEARS AND IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $172.00 IN WHICH TO RUN A 27 POINT INSPECTION OR I WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION FOR FURTHER EVALUATION AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1500.00 SAYING IT WAS LIKELY THE TORQUE CONVERTER. IN LIGHT OF THE RECENT TOYOTA ACCELERATION PROBLEMS I FIND IT AMAZING THAT ANOTHER CAR DEALERSHIP HAS NO REGARD FOR THEIR PRODUCT! I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A FLEET DEALER WITH LESS THAN 6,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE ON IT FOR UPKEEP AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. HAD MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER BEEN DRIVING THIS, I AM CERTAIN IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE FOUND A WEBSITE WITH AT LEAST 80 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE, AND SEVERAL SERVICE STATIONS WHICH I HAVE CONTACTED WHICH HAVE INFORMED ME THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WITH THE TAURUS'S. *TR
ACCELERATOR REVVED WITHOUT FOOT ON GAS PEDAL. I WAS COMING TO A STOP, REMOVED FOOT FROM GAS, STEPPED ON BRAKE WHEN ENGINE START REVVING. AT FIRST I THOUGH BRAKES WERE FAILING BECAUSE IT WASN'T SLOWING DOWN AS QUICKLY AS USUAL. HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF. IT HAPPENED YEARS AGO, BEFORE THE TOYOTA PROBLEM. THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT UNTIL IT NOW HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN STOPPING/PARKING. NO SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO HAPPENED TO MY WIFE. FLOOR MAT ISSUE OR HITTING ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF BRAKE IS NOT THE CASE. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS, SOUNDS OR ANY INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION BEFOREHAND. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A SLOW IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC SO THAT I COULD SAFELY MOVE MY CAR OFF THE ROAD, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD TO ADVISE THEM THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY, BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE YET. THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE 2004 TAURUS DEFINITELY SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 FORD TAURUS, CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN SMOKING, PULLED OVER AND HOOD OF CAR COMPLETELY IN FLAMES. FIRE DEPT CAME AND PUT FIRE OUT. CAR IS TOTALED, INSURANCE ADVISED WAS ELECTRICAL FIRE. *TR
MY 2004 TAURUS WAS IN AN ACCIDENT-WHILE CHECKING THE FORD WEBSITE AND READING PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THE TAURUS MODEL 2 OR 3 RECALLS SOUNDED VERY SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM-BRAKES FAILED, THERE WAS A FIRE. FORD'S WEB SITE LISTS' 2/1/2008 & 6/26/2008 (LATER DATE MORE DETAILED) AS THE RESEASON FOR THE RECALL BEING SAFETY "SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SYSTEM...FIRE" COULD THIS BE WHAT HAPPENNED TO MY CAR?
TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED,DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TORQUE CONVERTER WENT OUT,TROUBLE GETTING IT TO SIDE OF ROAD IN TRAFFIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD BECOME STUCK, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT WOULD PUMP IN ORDER TO DISLODGE THE PEDAL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE SEPARATED, WHICH INTERFERED WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 04/19/2012*LJ
VEHICLE: ONE OWNER 2004 FORD TAURUS WAGON, 73,500 MILES, NO ACCIDENTS. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING FRACTURED RESULTING IN CATASTROPHIC PUNCTURE OF THE TIRE. FORTUNATELY, THIS OCCURRED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE SO THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THE FRACTURE SURFACE WAS CLEAN AND SHOWED NO EVIDENCE OF PRIOR DAMAGE OTHER THAN SLIGHT SURFACE CORROSION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE INCREASED ACCELERATION UNEXPECTEDLY. THE FAILURE STOPPED AFTER THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,258.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD BECOME STUCK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE AND ABNORMALLY. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE DIFFICULTY BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE CABLE TIGHTENING, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR CONFIRMATION OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 141,000.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
DATE APPROXIMATE. FORD TAURUS 2004. VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND RPM INCREASED ON A DOWNHILL GRADE AFTER REMOVING ALL PRESSURE FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE. ON SUBSEQUENT LEVEL GRADES VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE WAS RELEASED. BRAKING WAS DIFFICULT. UPON INSPECTION, THE CABLE END HAD SLIPPED OUT OF ITS SOCKET AND JAMMED BEHIND THE CONTROL LINKAGE. THE FORD GARAGE SAID THAT FORD HAD NO RECALLS ON THE ITEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY. NOT HAVING THE MONEY AND WANTING TO AWAIT NEWS FROM FORD, I CAREFULLY DRILLED A SMALL HOLE THROUGH THE KNUCKLE/LINKAGE AND THEN SAFETY WIRED THE KNUCKLE TO THE LINKAGE. I DRIVE LESS THAN 6000 MILES A YEAR. IT IS STILL WORKING BUT THE WEAKENED CONDITIONED, ORIGINAL DEFECT AND SUBSEQUENT TEMPORARY. *TR
ON THE AFTERNOON OF FEBRUARY 14TH, 2012 I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA OF WEST PHILADELPHIA WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE ACCELERATOR. I WENT DOWN ONE CITY BLOCK WITH THE CAR STILL MOVING WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. I THEN PULLED THE CAR OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT APPROX 3000-4000 RPM. I THEN TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO REV AT 3000-4000 RPM WHILE STILL IN PARK. I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED FOR SOMEONE TO PICK ME UP AS I BELIEVED THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WHEN MY FRIEND ARRIVED, HE ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR, AND IT STARTED NORMALLY. HE THEN DROVE THE CAR BACK TO MY RESIDENCE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THEN ON THE AFTERNOON OF MARCH 14TH, 2012 I WAS AGAIN DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT AROUND 30 MPH. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO LURCH FORWARD. I BECAME VERY AFRAID AS I WAS CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THE CAR WOULD NOT COMPLETELY STOP. AFTER PRESSING DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKE, IT DID COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, BUT WAS JERKY AND SHAKY WHEN IDLE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED DOWN THE STREET AS I COULD NOT FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THERE WERE CHILDREN IN THE AREA AND I FEARED THE CAR MAY KEEP GOING IF I AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO STOP. AS IT DID ON 2/14, THE CAR COASTED DOWN THE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS TIME, I DROVE INTO A STREET WITHOUT MUCH TRAFFIC AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 700 FT, THE CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMALLY. *TR *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN CLOSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING SO THAT IT WOULD NOT FLING OPEN. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED BELOW 30 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN GREASED THE DOOR LATCH AND APPLIED SILICONE SPRAY BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

WHEN TURNING INTO A BANK PARKING LOT AND WHILE PUTTING THE CAR INTO PARK THE CAR SURGED FORWARD JUMPED A CURB AND STRUCK THE BANK BUILDING. ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONVERTER AND CONVERTER SHAFT HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONVERTER AND CONVERTER SHAFT HAD FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND AGAIN, AND WOULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,569.
LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY, PUNCTURING/RUINING LEFT FRONT TIRE, AND BREAKING SWAY BAR LINKAGE. LUCKILY, CAR WAS MOVING AT LOW SPEED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE TAIL LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS, AND RADIO FAILED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. HE ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CONTACT MANAGED TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED BECAUSE THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V106000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH). THE RECALL PERTAINED TO THE 2003 MODELS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
TUBING TO WINDSHIELD WASHERS BROKE. THIS SOAKED THE HOOD INSULATION BLANKET AND DRIPPED ON TO THE MANIFOLD. THE WASHER FLUID BURST INTO FLAME BURNING THE HOOD BLANKET AND PAINT ON THE HOOD. HAD GARDENHOSE NEARBY AND WAS ABLE TO LIMIT DAMAGE. ONLY INDICATION OF PROBLEM WAS LACK OF SPRAY ON WINDSHIELD. FILLED BOTTLE WITH FLUID AND SHUT HOOD TO OPERATE SYSTEM. SMOKE FROM UNDER HOOD AND THROUGH AC VENTS ALERTED ME TO FIRE. *TR
WHEN DOOR CLOSED TEST LIGHT WITH MILEAGE WON'T SHOW???
FILING COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING DESIGN OF THE BLOWER MOTOR MOUNTING WHERE RAIN AND DAMPNESS GETS INTO THE BLOWER DESTROYING NOT ONLY THE BLOWER MOTOR BUT ALSO THE RESISTOR. REPLACEMENT OF THESE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PARTS ALONG WITH A RAIN KIT TO PREVENT FUTURE WATER DAMAGE WAS ESTIMATED AT $583.00 PLUS TAX. UPON CALLING FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM POSTED ON THE INTERNET BUT NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE CALLED FORD TO COMPLAIN AND THEREFORE IT WAS, BASICALLY, MY PROBLEM AS IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. YOU BET WHEN YOU HAVE NO AIR VENTILATION SYSTEM IN YOUR CAR ARE PUSHING CLOSE TO 60 YEARS OLD AND DRIVE IN HUMID CHICAGOLAND. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WOULD LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD WHENEVER IT RAINED. THE FAILURE CAUSES THE WIRES IN THE DASHBOARD TO BECOME WET AND PRODUCES AN ELECTRICAL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BLOWER CASE WAS AFFECTING THE MOTOR RESISTER. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,800.
IN COLD WEATHER THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT LATCH...THE LATCH IS SOMEHOW FREEZING,,HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN LIGHT RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER IN OPERATION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL SELECTOR MODE FAILED TO DISENGAGE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM. THE DRIVER SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM DEACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE EXTENDED SERVICE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE SYSTEM DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY I NOTICED SMOKE ROLLING OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR HOOD. WHEN WE GOT THE HOOD UP WE DISCOVERED THE HOOD INSULATION ON FIRE. WE USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT IT OUT. BESIDES THE INSULATION, THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID HOSE WAS BURNT THROUGH AND LOOSE FROM THE HOOD AND PART OF HOOD WAS BURNT. THE BODY SHOP SAID THE CAUSE WAS THE RESULT OF FLUID LEAKING FROM THE POWER STEERING HOSE ONTO THE HOT MANIFOLD AND STARTING THE FIRE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MY CAR. THE HOOD WAS FIXED AND WINDSHIELD WASHER HOSE AND NOZZLE WERE REPLACED. A NEW POWER STEERING FLUID HOSE HAS BEEN ORDERED TO REPLACE THE OTHER ONE BUT IS ON BACK ORDER SO MY CAR SITS AT THE BODY SHOP. *TR
NOTHING, NO WARNING. THAT IS THE MAJOR ISSUE. READ AND REVIEW THE MANY COMPLAINTS FORD IS GETTING POSTED ON TRANSMISSIONS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. IT HAPPENS FAR TO OFTEN, IN MANY SITUATIONS WHERE PEOPLE CAN BE KILLED OR INJURED. AND WITH THE FORD DESIGN, YOU'RE GOING TO SPEND A MINIMUM OF $3000 FOR PARTS LABOR AND TOWING. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO THESE NONCARING PEOPLE. ALL THEY WANT IS TO ADD TO AN EVER SLUMPING BOTTOM-LINE. I HAVE SPENT NEARLY $9000 IN REPAIRS ON FORD TAURUS' IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE CONTACT HAD TO SUDDENLY APPLY THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE MASTER CYLINDER REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT TOO MUCH PRESSURE CAUSED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO MALFUNCTION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A YEAR THE THE CONTACT HAD TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT WHEN THE MASTER CYLINDER MALFUNCTIONS A CRASH COULD OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ACTIVATE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND CAUSED THE SPEED TO DECREASE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH ACTIVATED ON ITS OWN. THE CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT EXITED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, BUT SHE COULD NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL. SHE HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE FAILED. THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS $404. NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,098 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,200.

I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MAY 2008 FROM LASCO FORD IN FENTON MI. I STARTED TO NOTICE WHEN IT RAINED HARD OR I WENT THROUGH THE CAR WASH THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR WAS WET IN THE FRONT SEAT AREA. I DIDN'T NOTICE IT RIGHT AWAY UNTIL A BAG I HAD ON THE FLOOR GOT SOAKED. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM THROUGH GOOGLE AND GOT A BLOG OF TAURUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL OF 2002-2003 TAURUSES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE A 2004. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 03V087000 AND ALSO A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR MY MODEL YEAR 2004 WITH THE NUMBER 031506 AND NHTSA NUMBER 10011149. THERE IS ANOTHER COMPLAINT FILED UNDER NUMBER 10184414. FORD KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK FORD SHOULD CORRECT IT. THEY REPLACED COWL TOP TRIM AND INSTALLED A WATER SHIELD ON THE FRESH AIR INLET. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK OR NOT. THE SERVICE MANAGER DARREN STATED IT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE WINDSHIELD. *TR

PURCHASED CAR AS FOURTH OWNER (ACCORDING TO CARFAX REPORT) ON SATURDAY 31 MAY 2008. THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACT AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING TO CUT OUT AND THE ABS AND BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHTS FLASHED AND SOUNDED. THE LIGHTS AND A/C WERE TYPICALLY SURGING. CAR WAS INSPECTED THAT FRIDAY BY DEALERS MECHANIC OF CHOICE. HE PUT THE COMPUTER TO THE CAR AND IT READ ALL 6 STATOR COILS WERE BAD. HE RESET THE COMPUTER AND DROVE IT TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO ACT UP AGAIN AND IT DID NOT. TODAY, SATURDAY 14 JUN 2008, THE CAR DID IT AGAIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. DEALERS MECHANIC WAS CLOSED SO I HAD SOMEONE ELSE CHECK IT AND THEY GOT THE SAME READING WITH THIS MESSAGE: P0606 PCM PROCESSOR FAULT. MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS WAS THE COMPUTER. MY CAR HAS 80,710 MILES ON IT. IS THIS A NORMAL FAILURE? WERE THERE ANY RECALLS? *TR
ON MAY 31, 2008 PURCHASED A 2004 FORD TAURUS. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. IT WAS READING 50 MPH BUT I WAS ACTUALLY GOING ON 40 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, WHICH IS NOT A FORD DEALER. THEY TESTED THE CAR AND SAID THE SPEED SENSOR WAS BAD. ORDERED 1 FROM A FORD DEALER WHICH TOOK A WEEK TO COME IN. WHEN THE SPEED SENSOR CAME IN AND WAS REPLACED IN THE CAR THE SPEEDOMETER STILL WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THE DEALER CALL THE FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ONE WAS ORDERED ON JUNE 17, 2008. TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 2 WEEKS. I CALL FORD DIRECTLY AND HAD FORD LOOK INTO THIS. FORD SAID THEY WOULD EXPEDITE THE SPEEDOMETER FOR ME. THAT WAS ON JULY 15. FORD SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME ON JULY 22 TO LET ME KNOW WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE SHIPPED. JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM FORD TO SAY THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE SHIPPED AUGUST 6, 2008. THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT HAS ONLY 29,500 MILES ON IT. FORD SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE SPEEDOMETER. I WANTED FORD TO TELL ME WHY IT TAKES SO LONG TO GET THE SPEEDOMETER IN. FORD WOULD GIVE ME AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION. *TR
