TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. PUDDLE'S OF WATER ACCUMULATE ON THE FLOOR OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEN IT RAINS. THE DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63639. UPDATED 06/04/08. *LJ UPDATED 06/04/08.
MY FORD TAURUS SHUT-OFF BLOWING HEAT THROUGH THE FAN AND ESSENTIALLY, I DO NOT HAVE ANY HEAT IN THE CAR. I TOOK TO A DEALER AND THEY MENTIONED THAT WATER LEAKED THROUGH COWL PANEL CAUSING FAILURE OF THE BLOWER MOTOR AND / OR RESISTOR. I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THAT COWL IS NOT EVEN A PART AND THEREFORE IS NOT COVERED AND SINCE WATER LEAK CAUSED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO FAIL, THAT PART ALSO IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THE TSB'S THAT FORD PUBLISHED, THAT SAID THAT THIS DEFECT IS COVERED IN BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THIS TELLS ME THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGERS THAT THEIR IS PROBLEM WITH THE BODY PARTS OF THE CARS, BUT IS NOT AGREEING TO REPAIR WITHOUT COST. THE DEALER QUOTED ME A $763 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TOGETHER TO FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. IT IS HIGH TIME THAT FORD STEPS UP AND TAKES CARE OF CONSUMERS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE HAS 2007 GOODYEAR ASSURANCE (NA) TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION AND COULD NOT BE BALANCED. GOODYEAR ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER LIED BY STATING THAT THE WHEEL WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO OTHER WHEEL SHOPS AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT THE WHEEL, BUT THE TIRES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. UPDATED 04/28/08. *LJ
FORD TAURUS 2004. AFTER A DAY OR TWO OF A HEAVY RAIN I FOUND A PUDDLE OF WATER INFRONT OF THE PASSENGER'S SEAT - UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. LIFTED THE RUG - JUST TO FIND THE UNDER-PADDING IS GREENOSH-BLACK AND THERE IS A TRAIL OF LEAK. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME - BUT OBVIOUSLY -IT SHOWED NOW AFTER A VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOUND SEVERAL DISCUSSION GROUPS ON THE INTERNET WHERE _MANY_ FORD OWNERS COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME THING. BASED ON THE WORK THEY HAD DONE AT SERVICE CENTERS - IT IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING ERROR. HOWEVER, A RECALL WAS NEVER ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. FIXING THE PROBLEM GOES FROM 150U$ TO 400U$- DEPENDING ON SEVERITY, DAMAGE, CAR MODEL AND AGE. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS APPROACH ON THE FORD;S PART (AND ALL OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS WHO ARE OR SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM - BUT ARE STILL QUIETLY SELLING LEMONS). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE FAILURE RESULTED IN A CRASH, WHICH LED TO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OF THE VEHICLE, MINOR INSTRUMENT PANEL DAMAGE, AND A DENT IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE GLASS ALSO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS NOT NOTIFIED THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE AGENCY TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 105,000.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE GIVEN A DEFECTIVE CHILD CAR SEAT WHEN WE RENTED WITH BUDGET RENT A CAR. THEY HAVE STICKERS ON THE INSIDE WINDSHIELD THAT MENTIONS THAT ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF FIVE MUST BE SEATED IN CAR SEATS. THE CAR SEAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WE WERE NOT OFFERED ANOTHER ONE, THUS PUTTING OUR ONE YEAR OLD CHILD IN A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE SENT THREE CERTIFIED LETTERS TO BUDGET, BUT NO RESPONSE. I HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED I THOUGHT IN JULY 2007 AND IT LASTED FOR A WHILE, TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THEY AGAIN SAID THEY FIXED IT, WELL IT IS LEAKING WATER STILL AND FILLS UP THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR ANY TIME IT RAINS, I NEED TO HAVE THIS FIXED PERMANENTLY AS I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART, BEAVERTON FORD HAS BEEN THE ONE THAT HAS REPAIRED IT BOTH TIMES, BUT I FELL IF IT WAS FIXED RIGHT IT STILL WOULD NOT BE LEAKING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. HE STATED THAT THE FUEL FILLER PIPE WAS PINCHED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO PUT GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF A FOREIGN OBJECT CAUSING THE BLOCKAGE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,109.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CABLE FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS BAD AND THE CONNECTOR FAILED. THE REPAIR PARTS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 56,219.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15800, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16038. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, DAMAGING BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, NECK INJURIES, AND BRUISES ON HER LEFT SIDE. AT 16,038 MILES WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE REAR BY A VEHICLE AT 45 MPH THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED OUT AND SUFFERED ANOTHER HEAD CONCUSSION AND FACIAL BRUISES AROUND EYES BECAUSE HER FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP, AND THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND A LOUD NOISEWAS PRODUCED WHEN IN THE IDLE POSITION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER THREE VISITS TO A REPAIR SHOP A SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS THE REPAIR ORDERS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 77000.*AK
VEHICLE STARTED STALLING AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS, MOST NOTABLY WHEN PULLING A HILL OR DURING ACCELERATION. THIS PROGRESSED TO STALLING AT IDLE AND LOW RPM SPEEDS, AND EVENTUALLY LED TO SURGING AND THE INABILITY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING. THIS PROBLEM LED TO THE VACUUM BOOST FOR THE POWER BRAKES FAILING WHICH CAUSED THE POWER BRAKES TO FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, HIT MY GARAGE AND CAUSED $3000 DAMAGE TO MY HOME, AND $1000 WORTH OF BODY DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS. FIRST ONE STATED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND PRESSURE REGULATOR, REPLACING THESE DID NOTHING BUT COST $800. SECOND ONE DISCOVERED THAT THE PLASTIC UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AT THE EGR VALVE AND PCV VALVE LOCATIONS LEADING TO THE ENGINE RUNNING TOO LEAN. STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2000 TO 2007 FORD TAURUS AND THAT EVEN IN THE SMALL TOWN WE LIVE IN HE REPLACED 3 OR 4 A MONTH EVEN ON BRAND NEW VEHICLES, THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS PART BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR OR FIX. REPAIRS THEN TOTALED AN ADDITIONAL $620. *JB
WATER LEAKING INTO CABIN, WATER LEAKING INTO BLOWER MOTOR HOUSING. *TR
IN COLD WEATHER, THE SIDE DOOR LATCH MECHANISMS SOMETIMES FREEZE AND DO NOT RETURN TO THE LATCH POSITION WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE DOORS CAN OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THIS IS SIMILAR TO TSB# 05224 AND NHTSA# 10018738 BUT IS OCCURING IN A 2004 FORD TAURUS. THE OTHER INCIDENTS APPLY TO FORD FIVE HUNDRED, FREESTYLE, AND MERCURY MONTEGO MODELS. *JB
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN DECEMBER OF 2006. ANOTHER CAR FAILED TO YIELD TO ME ON A GREEN LIGHT AND WE COLLIDED. THE IMPACT OF THIS ACCIDENT WAS HARD ENOUGH TO BRUISE MY INTERNAL ORGANS YET THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I ASKED THE FORD COLLISION CENTER WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND 2 STAFF TOLD ME, " YOU DID NOT HIT IT RIGHT." ONE OF THE REASONS I LEASED A FORD TAURUS WAS ITS SAFETY FEATURES AND ITS HIGH SAFETY RATING. I DID NOT KEEP THIS CAR AND WHEN IT WAS DUE TO BE RETURNED, I DID NOT CHOOSE ANOTHER FORD. I WENT TO 5 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND TOLD THEM WHAT FORD HAD SAID ABOUT WHY THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT DEPLOYED AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAD EVER HEARD OF SUCH A COMMENT. I STILL HAVE NOT RECOVERED FROM MY INJURIES IN THIS ACCIDENT AND WOULD LIKE TO TELL THE PUBLIC NOT TO RELY ON THE SAFETY OF AIRBAGS IN THIS CAR IF "YOU HAVE TO HIT THE OTHER CAR IN A CERTAIN WAY." THIS IS A FALSE SECURITY FOR THE PUBLIC TO BELIEVE IN AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE. *JB
BRAKES WERE "WORN OUT" AFTER 24,000 MILES. IN FIFTY YEARS OF DRIVING I HAVE NEVER HAD TO HAVE BRAKES REPLACED EVEN AFTER 100,000 MILES OF DRIVING BECAUSE I AM A VERY CONSERVATIVE DRIVER. THE SERVICE AGENT AT THE DEALER ADMITTED TO ME THAT FORD HAD CHANGED THE QUALITY OF THE BRAKE PADS AND THEY HAD A LOT OF REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THAT. *TR

WATER LEAKING ON PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD CAUSING FAILURE OF DEFOGGER BLOWER FAN. WAS NOT COVERED BY BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS IS A KNOWN EXISTING PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR, PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT SUDDENLY ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON DRY PAVEMENT AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED 07/12/06, THE SECOND OCCURRED ON 07/26/06, AND THE THIRD ON 08/02/06. THE STEEL BELTS CAME LOOSE WHICH CAUSED THE TREAD TO SEPARATE IN THE THREE INCIDENTS. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED PRIOR TO EACH INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED. THE TIRES WERE COOPER, SUPREME 770 PATRIOT ULTRA. SIZE P21560/R16.
I HAVE A 2004 FORD TAURUS AND AROUND 2006 THE THROTTLE SOMETIMES ACCELERATES AND STICKS ON ITS OWN. THE CRUISE CONTROL ALSO STOPPED WORKING AROUND THIS TIME. WHEN I WAS DRIVING I WOULD NOTICE THE RPM'S GOING UP AND NOT COMING DOWN, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND REV THE ENGINE. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I HAVE ASKED MULTIPLE MECHANICS TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT NO ONE HAS HAD A CLUE ABOUT THIS OR HOW TO FIX IT, INCLUDING CLASSIC FORD IN MENTOR, OHIO. *TR
FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILURE. THE CAR IS 2 YEARS & 3 MONTHS OLD, ALL FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES HAVE BECOME JAMMED. UNABLE TO USE SEAT BELTS IN FRONT SEATS. *JB
LONG AND OR HARD START, RECENTLY NO START. HAVE FOUND MANY TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS WITH SAME COMPLAINT. REPAIR SHOP HAS YET TO IDENTIFY PROBLEM. *JB
ROUGH IDLE, TAKEN TO DEALER UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD FORD WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM AND HAD ISSUED A COMPUTER UPDATE FOR THE ISSUE. CAR WAS SERVICED AND IDLE WAS ONLY IMPROVED FOR 1 WEEK OR LESS. IDLE CONTINUES TO BE ROUGH AND SHOP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN PROBLEM SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR. *JB
WATER ON FLOOR OF FRONT PASSENGER. BLOWER NOT WORKING. MOLD AND ODOR ON CARPET, MOTOR BLOWER CORROSION. TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND AA CONTROL, SEALED COWL AND INSTALLED RAINHAT EXTENDER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD TAURUS. CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT HAD BECOME STUCK AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PULL THE SEAT BELT OUT FROM ITS HOUSING. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
ON APRIL 6TH MY DAUGHTER HAD AN ACCIDENT IN HER 2004 FORD TAURUS. SHE RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT 6 CONCRETE BLOCK PILLARS AND WOODEN FENCE. SHE HIT THESE PRIMARILY WITH THE FRONT BUMPER OF HER VEHICLE YET THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SHOULD IT?? *JB
VEHICLE DOES NOT GO ALL THE WAY INTO PARK. PRNDL INDICATES PARK, BUT VEHICLE STILL MOVES. WIFE PLACED CAR IN REVERSE, THEN REALIZED A KIDS BIKE WAS BEHIND HER, PULLED FORWARD, PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK , GOT OUT , AND VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARD. SHE WAS DRAGGED, AND ALMOST BADLY INJURED WHEN THE OPEN DOOR CAUGHT ON ANOTHER VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS LATER I PARKED VEHICLE , PLACED IT IN PARK AT SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT AND VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AGAIN. *AK
CAR STARTED TO MISS BADLY AT STOPS AND EVENTUALLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE SHAKING VIOLENTLY. CAR THEN STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT EVENTUALLY LED ME TO SURRENDER THE CAR EVEN WITH THE CONSEQUENCES TO MY CREDIT. *NM
2004 FORD TAURUS FFV. 1) THE CAR TAKES TWO OR MORE ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE AFTER SITTING FOR 6+ HOURS ("COLD" ENGINE). VEHICLE IS RUNNING E85 ONLY. 2) AFTER IT STARTS, THE ENGINE CANNOT FIND AN IDLE AND CAN STALL OR REV UP UNEXPECTEDLY. 3) SO FAR TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP WITH NO CHNAGE IN STATUS. ADDITIONALLY, ONE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN PLAYING AROUND WITH THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING. THIS HAS NOT SOVLED THE PROBLEM. FORD'S ONLY SOLUTION TO DATE IS TO NOT USE E85 EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE IS A FFV. *JB
WIPERS DO NOT WIPE OVER 40 MPR. ARMS AND BLADES REPLACED BY FORD. STILL DO NOT WORK. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WATER WAS LEAKING INSIDE THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE GASKETS THAT HOLD THE WINDSHIELD WERE SEVERED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK UPDATED 2/7/2006 - *NM
DT*: WHILE DRIVING THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND ENCOUNTERED AN AREA OF BLACK ICE. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND, HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE, AND THEN CRASHING INTO AN EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT HIS HEAD WENT COMPLETELY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. HE SUSTAINED FACE AND HEAD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY EVALUATED THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. *AK
AM HEARING A LIGHT MOAN ON LIGHT ACCELERATION. I CAN HEAR IT AT ALL RPMS AND SPEED. BUT IS AT ITS LOUDEST AT 40-45 MPH, JUST AFTER IT SHIFTS INTO THE HIGHEST GEAR. IN LAST FEW WKS- IT SEEMS TO FOLLOW THE EXHAUST TO THE REAR. DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEM TO VERIFY IT. AM RETURNING FOR NEW REAR STRUTS THAT RATTLE-ON WARRANTY. WHAT SHOULD I TELL THEM WHEN I RETURN? ALSO CAN FEEL IT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. *NM
TIRES-- CONTINENTAL TIRES ON MY 1 YEAR OLD FORD TAURUS-- HAD A BAD SHIMMY WHEN DRIVING AROUND 50 MPH. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP. AS THEY ARE 15 MONTHS OLD I HAVE NO WARRANTY COVERAGE LEFT ON TIRES. BOTH FRONT TIRES THE BELTS "HAD SLID"-I LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES WHICH ARE ON THOUSANDS OF TAURUS AND WINDSTAR VANS. I LEARNED SOMETIMES THEY "BULGE" OUT THE SIDES WHEN THE BELTS SLIDE INSIDE-- MINE HAD NOT- NEW TIRES FIXED THE DRIVING PROBLEM BUT I THINK IT IS DISGUSTING AS THEY ONLY HAD 15,000 MILES ON THEM AND I HAVE NO WARRANTY COVERAGE AT ALL-THEY ARE UNSAFE AND SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK INTO IT. WE BOUGHT A 2004 FORD TAURUS SE FROM NISSAN AT THE AVENUES AND THE VERY NEXT DAY WE NOTICED THAT WHEN IT RAINS A LOT OF WATER COMES UNDER THE DASH BOARD BY THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT. *JB
DT: DRIVER'S SEAT CAUGHT ON FIRE ON AUGUST 3, 2005. THERE WAS A POLICE OFFICER THAT PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WANTED THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR REPAIRING THE SEAT. *AK *SC *JB
I HAD RENTED A 2004 FORD TAURUS FROM ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR. I NEEDED TO GET SOME THINGS OUT OF ANOTHER CAR TO PUT INTO THE RENTAL CAR. I PUT THE TAURUS INTO DRIVE AND PULLED FORWARD TO THE OTHER CAR. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, OPENED THE DOOR, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND STARTED TO GET OUT. AFTER I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE GROUND AND WAS STANDING UP, THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD. I FELL TO THE GROUND WHILE HOLDING ON TO THE DOOR AND WAS DRAGGED A FEW FEET. I MANAGED TO ROLL AWAY FROM THE CAR. THE CAR ROLLED BACK TO THE ORIGINAL PARKING SPOT AND HIT A GUARD RAIL AND ANOTHER CAR.
I OWN A 2004 FORD TAURUS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY ONLY 28,000 MILES & I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES FOR THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT IS SLIPPING WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE CAR SURGES BUT THEN WONT MOVE. LIKE IT IS NEUTRAL. FORD DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CAR STARTED RACING AND DRIVING WITHOUT PUTTING FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AT ALL. THE RACING ONLY STOPS IF THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK AND ONE GUNS THE ENGINE A FEW TIMES. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY IN THE SUMMER MONTHS AND HAS HAPPENED EVERY YEAR SINCE PURCHASE OF THE CAR. FORD CLAIMED THROUGHOUT OUR 7 YEAR WARRANTY THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM FOUND. I HAD AN AFTER MARKET RADIO INSTALLED IN MY CAR. ONCE I PICKED UP MY CAR I NOTICIED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OCALA LINCOLN-MERCURY IN OCALA FLORIDA. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE WENT THROUGH THE RADIO. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS NO LONGER WORK. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WOULD BE ABOUT 800.00 DOLLARS. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER A DESIGN FEATURE. I F I HAD TO REPLACETHE RADIO EVEN IF IT DOES NOT WORK I COULD NOT DO THE REPLACEMENT I WOULD HAVE TO FIND AN ORIGINAL RADIO OR LIVE WITHOUT ONE. MY ISSUE IS THE STUPID DESIGN OF PLACING AN AIR BAG MODULE IN THE RADIO AND THAT I DO NOT HAVE AIR BAGS NOW. FORD TOLD ME THAT SINCE I REPLACED THE RADIO IT IS ON ME.
CONTACT STATES: APPARENT FAILURE OF AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. CONSUMER'S WIFE AND SON REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS DISENGAGED BUT DID NOT DEPLOY. THEY CHARGED BUT DID NOT ACTUALLY COME OUT.*AK
WHEN TORQUING FRONT WHEEL STUDS, STUDS STRETCHED AND SNAPPED OFF REPLACED WITH OEM PARTS. *AK
DRIVER NOTICED WHILE DRIVING THAT THE SUN ROOF WOULD OPEN AND CLOSE ON ITS ON. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AD MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SUN ROOF MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN GEAR, BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND SHIFT. ALSO THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE COSSING A RAILROAD TRACK THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRALED OUT AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. DEALER REPLACED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY AND OTHER POWER TRAIN-RELATED COMPONENTS. *TT
