WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF ENGINE/ OVERHEATED/ LOSS OF POWER AND SHUT DOWN DUE TO ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLOWING OUT. VEHCILE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. *AK

WENT TEN MILES, STOPED FOR 30 MINUTES. RESTARTED AND THE HEAD GASKETS BLEW. *AK
WE PURCHASED THIS USED 1995 WINDSTAR AND A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY IN APRIL 2000, AND OUR FIRST MINI VACATION TO BOULDER CITY, THE ENGINE FAILED IN THE CITY OF BARSTOW CALIFORNIA. WE HAD SEVEN PASSENGERS IN THE VAN AT THE TIME, AND HAD TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER IN BARSTOW TO FIND OUT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. WE THEN HAD TO RENT A MINI VAN, AND WAS TOLD MY WINDSTAR WOULD BE FIXED IN ABOUT A WEEK. AFTER TWO WEEKS AND A RENTAL CHARGE OF $1058.00 THE VAN WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE THEN CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE MINI VAN KEN GRODY IN THE CITY OF BUENA PARK, THEY HAD PICKED UP OUR VAN FROM THE BARSTOW FORD DEALER ON MAY 3, 2000 AND WAS PROMISED THEY WOULD INSTALL A NEW ENGINE WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. NOW IT IS JUNE 8, 2000 AND TODAY I HAD CALLED FOR TENTH TIME TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINES ARE STILL BACK ORDERED. WE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE WE HAD FAR IN ADVANCE MADE RESERVATION TO GO ON VACATION TO ARIZONA TO THE GRAND CANYON WITH OUR FOUR CHILDREN AND WE ARE NOW TOLD WE WILL NOT HAVE OUR VAN FOR THIS TRIP. KEN GRODY FORD HAS GIVEN US A RENTAL MINI WINDSTAR VAN TO USE, BUT THE RENTAL AGREEMENT PROHIBITS US TO LEAVE THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. WE NEED A VEHICLE TO GO ON OUR FAMILY REUNION IN ARIZONA. THIS CHAPS OUR HIDE. WE NEED HELP!! WE HAD LOOKED ON THE WEB SITE UNDER FORD AND FOUND OUT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINES OF THE 1995 WINDSTAR, AND WAS NOT TOLD OF THIS PROBLEM WHEN WE MADE THE PURCHASE, AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFORAMTION FROM FORD REGARDING A RECALL. WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP WE TAKE TO GET SATISFACTION? WE HAD NOTICE THAT FORD MOTOR WAS OFFERING $4000.00 TOWARDS A NEW PURCHASE, BUT WE JUST HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FOR $16,000.00 AND OWE $10,000.00, THIS IS NOT A VERY GOOD INCENTIVE TO MOVE FORWARD TO ANOTHER PURCHASE. WE DON'T KNOW WHEN WE WILL EVER SEE OUR VAN AGAIN. I FEEL NOW WE SHOULD RECIEVE A NEW COMPLETE DRIVETRAIN TO INCLUDE THE TRANSAXLE. PLEASE HELP US IN THIS MATTER, AGAIN WHAT SHOULD WE DO? *AK
RECALL #98-MO1 ON A 1995 FORD WINSTAR - CONTACTED FOR MOTOR COMPANY BECAUSE I HAVE 122,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT PAY TO HAVE MY HEAD GASKET FIXED. IF I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL I COULD HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE CHECKED PRIOR TO THE 100,000 MILES. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS A RECALL WHY DO THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO PUT MILEAGE LIMITATION ON THIS. IF THE HEAD GASKET IS A PROBLEM ON THE WINSTAR (95) THEN THEY NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT THE FORD COMPANIES EXPENSE. JUST BECAUSE MAYBE I MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE BETTER AND IT TOOK LONGER FOR THIS TO HAPPEN I DO NOT KNOW! WHY SHOULD I BE PUNISHED FOR THEIR FAULTY HEAD GASKET. I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THEIR RESPONSIBLITY TO NOTIFY ALL OWNERS OF 1995 WINDSTAR THAT THIS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOT LIKE I BOUGHT THIS USED, I PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY SHOULD HAVE ALL MY INFORMATION, PLUS I HAVE IT FINANCED WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THIS PROBLEM I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS BLOWN HEAD GASKET ON WINDSTAR 1995 WAS AN OWNER NOTIFICATION. WELL, I NEVER RECEIVED THIS NOTIFICATION AND HAD I WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP TO GO OVER. I UNDERTAND THAT FORD HAS CHANGED ITS LIMITATION FROM 60,000 TO 100,000. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IF THEY ARE HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAD GASKETS SO NOW I AM READING ALL THE HORRIBLE STORIES AND HOW PEOPLE WERE TREATED. IT CONCERNS ME THAT THEY HAVE OMMITED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WHY SHOULD OWNER BE PENALIZED AND EXPECTED TO TAKE THE LOSS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PROBLEM WITH THE FORD HEAD GASKET. I HAVE 1979 FORD BRONCO WHICH HAS OVER 200,000 OR EVEN ALOT MORE AND WE HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO THIS VECHICLE ACCEPT REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. I FEEL THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS A RESPONSIBLILTY TO THE OWNERS OF THE WINDSTARS TO STAND UP AND TAKE THE RESPONSBILITY, AGAIN WHY SHOULD I BE PENALIZED AND EXPECTED TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY NEW WOULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN SOONER OR LATER. I AM NOT SURE WHY I GOT MILEAGE OUT OF MY VEHICLE BEFORE THIS HAPPEN. MAYBE BECAUSE I TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND SERVICED IT REGULARLY. I PUT ON A LOT OF MILES A YEAR. I AM A SALES PERSON WHO IS ON THE ROAD 6 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK ON BUSINESS. AND AGAIN I DID NOT RECEIVE OWNER NOTIFICATION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS ENGINE HAS STARTED TO SMOKE HEAVY. I PAID ONCE BEFORE TO HAVE A NEW HEAD GASKET AND HEADS PUT IN. FORD SEND OUT A LETTER FOR DEFECTED HEADS AND GASKETS BEFORE. I CALLED UP FORD AFTER RECEIVING THIS LETTER AND WAS REFUNDED MY MONEY FOR HEAD JOB. 7 MONTHS LATER THIS SAME VAN, JUST QUIT RUNNING SO I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY JUST SAID IT WAS A LOOSE CLAMP,AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. THAT SAME DAY THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, THE REASON FOR THIS I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE EVERYTIME I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE LIGHT,THEY JUST TELL ME IT'S A SENSOR. I NEVER COULD GET THIS FIXED SINCE I BOUGHT THE VAN. NOW THIS VAN IS SMOKING FROM THE TAILPIPE AGAIN WITH THE PROBLEM AS BEFORE SO I CALLED FORD AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THER WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME SINCE THEY ALREADY REIMPURSED ME MY MONEY ONCE BEFORE. ALL I WANT IS TO GET PROBLEM FIXED,CONSIDERING FORD KNOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM ON THIS SPECIFIC VAN EXISTS. *AK
I AM PRESENTING YOU WITH MY CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE 1995 FORD WINDSTAR MINIVANS. WE PURCHASED ONE IN 1998 FROM A REPUTABLE USED CAR DEALER IN ROANOKE, VA. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. WITHIN THE FOLLOWING YEAR, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKETS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON BOTH OF THESE ITEMS BUT WE CONVENIENTLY WERE PAST THE ISSUE DATE. I WROTE FORD A POLITE LETTER EXPRESSING MY DESIRE FOR ASSISTANCE IN THESE MATTERS. THEY DENIED ASSISTANCE AND STATED THAT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAINED THAT THEY WOULD POSSIBLY UP THE RECALL AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME. NOT 35,000 MILES FROM THE PREVIOUS HEAD GASKET REPAIR DID THEY BLOW AGAIN. THIS WAS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FLUSHING RAW FUEL OUT THE TAILPIPE CREATING A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD TO MY FAMILY. THE VAN IS CURRENTLY SITTING ON MAGIC CITY FORD'S LOT AS I AM ADRESSING YOU. SINCE THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEGUN TO SURFACE I HAVE DONE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RESEARCH AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS. RATHER IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE ENTIRE LINE OF 1995 FORD WINDSTARS IN WHICH THE COMPANY IS CONVENIENTLY ELUDING MOST OF IT'S RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE CONSUMER. I HAVE EVEN HAD PEOPLE I DO NOT KNOW STOP ME AND ASK ME IF I HAD EXPERIENCED ANY SUCH PROBLEMS. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT IS PROVEN TO HAVE SO MANY DEFECTS FROM THE GET GO BEEN ALLOWED TO REMAIN ON THE MARKET? NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE HEAD GASKETS AND TRANSMISSIONS ARE REPLACED THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BLOW BECAUSE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE ENGINE ITSELF. IT IS WRONG TO PUT A TEMPORARY FIX ON THESE VEHICLES AND ALLOW THEM TO RE-ENTER THE CONSUMER MARKET KNOWING OF THESE LIFE THREATENING DEFECTS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE, I CAN OBTAIN MULTIPLE WEB-SITES OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EXPRESSING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLE. THEY TOO HAVE BEEN DENIED COVERAGE BY FORD BECAUSE THEY ARE CONVENIENTLY PAST THE RECALL. THANK YOU.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 VEHICLE STRUCK A DEER AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, HITTING CONSUMER AND HUSBAND IN THE FACES WITH AN OBJECT FROM AIR BAGS. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NLM
AUTOMOBILE BURNED UP AFTER BEING LOOKED AT BY MECHANIC, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN BECAUSE BRAKE LINE WAS NEXT TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. CONSUMER HAD JUST TURNED OFF VEHICLE TO SHOW MECHANIC THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON. *AK
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD HEAD GASKET FAILURE TWICE IN TWO YEARS AND 20,000 MILES APART. *AK
THE RADIO AND CLOCK JUST WENT DEAD WHILE WE WERE ON THE ROAD. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKE, PUNCTURING TIRE, VEHICLE THEN COLLAPSED AND CAUSED FURTHER DAMAGE TO SPRING BAR ASSEMBLY, STRUTS, AND FRONT END ALIGNMENT, A REPAIRMAN STATED THAT THE SPRING MUST HAVE CRACKED SOME TIME AGO DUE TO CRACKED PARTS BEING RUSTED. *SLC
I READ THAT THERE HAVE MANY PROBLEMS WITH SPRINGS ON FORD WINDSTARS. THE FORD GARAGE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THESE SPRINGS ARE DEFECTIVE IF THERE ARE THIS MANY OCCURRENCES. WE WERE TOLD THAT IF THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT A HIGH SPEED THE TIRE WOULD BE PUNCTURED AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THANKS, JIM BRIGGS. *AK

CONTACTED AAMCO. TOLD THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN. SUN ROOF BROKE AND THEY USE UPDATED ONE AS ORIGINAL IS THIN AND BREAKS AT WELD. ADDITIONALLY, DEALER THOUGHT FLYWHEEL MIGHT BE CRACKED AND STATED THEY HAD ONE IN 2 DAYS PRIOR WITH SAME PROBLEM.

MY HEAD GASKET BLEW, AND AS SOON AS I HAD MY WINDSTAR IN THE SHOP, FOUR OTHER WINDSTARS CAME IN WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM! AND WERE IN A SMALL TOWN AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN BOSENHEIM,GERMANY. WE ARE ALL SOLDIERS STATIONED IN BAD KREUZNACH, GERMANY.*AK
TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T DOWNSHIFT, AND VEHICLE DIDN'T MOVE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, AND MECHANIC TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN TRANSMISSION WALL. *AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, TEMPERATURE GAUGE FLEW UP, ANTI FREEZE HAD MIXED WITH OIL, AND RUINED THE ENGINE.*AK
I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE COMPILING INFORMATION REGARDING BLOWN ENGINES DUE TO HEAD GASKET FAILURE. PLEASE ADD MY 1995 WINDSTAR TO YOUR LIST. *AK
PROCESSOR FAILURE SENDING UNSPENT FUEL THRU #2 CYLINDER CONTAMINATING OIL, THRU EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND OUT EXHAUST PIPE
HAVING CONSIDERABLE TROUBLE WITH DEALERSHIP---THEY SAY IT WILL TAKE ALL SUMMER TO REPAIR! NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN THE SUMMARY. *AK
WE HAVE REPLACED THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, HEAD GASKETS, AND MANY ADDITIONAL PARTS. I HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO $6,000 IN REPAIRS SINCE BUYING THIS VEHICLE. I JUST WANT FORD TO ADMIT THAT THE 95 WINDSTAR HAS PROBLEMS.
HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH 3.8L V6 ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO A SPUN BEARING AND A DAMAGED CAM. DEALER / MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER'S EXTENEED WARRANTY.*AK
HAD TO REPLACE EXPENSIVE TIMING CASE COVER OR HEAD GASKET FAILURE WOULD HAVE OCCURED AS PER MY MECHANIC. *AK
AT 50,000 MILES THE HEAD GASKETS WENT OUT. AT 60,000 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THERE WAS NO REVERSE, AND THE CAR WAS VERY DIFICULT TO DRIVE. AT 70,000 THE BRAKES WENT OUT. WE HAD NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND FINALLY NO BRAKES AT ALL. FORD COMPENSATED US FOR THE HEAD GASKETS ONLY. THIS CAR IS A HAZARD ON THE ROAD! BUT WE CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER CAR RIGHT NOW!
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS CONCERNING ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER NOTICED THAT THE TIMING BELT GASKET COVER WAS ALSO LEAKING. DEALER WILL REPAIR ONLY AT THE CONSUMERS COST. IN ADDITION, DEALER INDICATED THAT EVERY WINDSTAR TAKEN APART SHOWED THAT TIMING BELT GASKET COVER WAS LEAKING. *AK
TOOK CAR IN FOR RECALL REPAIRS ON ENGINE HEAD GASKET. WHEN PICKING UP THE CAR AND DEALER FOUND A NOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET. CONSUMER COULD SMELL ANTI-FREEZE INSIDE THE CAR. FELT THIS WAS A RESULT OF RECALL REPAIRS. *AK
I HAD JUST STOPPED TO FILL UP VAN WITH GAS. I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE STATION ON TO A MAIN ROAD, WHEN JUST AS I PULLED ON TO THE ROAD THE CAR MADE A LOUD CLUNK AND THEN WOULD NOT MOVE ANY FURTHER. BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE HIT IN THE SIDE BY ON COMING TRAFFIC ON A ROAD THAT HAS A SPEED LIMIT OF 50 MPH. I WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED SEVERLY IF THE PERSON HAD NOT WENT AROUND ME TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME.*AK
TIMING CHAIN COVER LEAKED ANTI-FREEZE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO REDESIGN. THE OLD TIMING CHAIN COVER WAS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. FORD CURRENTLY HAS RECALLS FOR TIMING CHAIN COVERS ON OTHER VEHICLES. THIS REPAIR COST $927. *AK
FORD WILL COVER THE HEAD GASKET REPAIR WITH THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE FRONT COVER GASKET REPAIR. THESE PROBLEMS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO EACH OTHER BECAUSE AS THE ENGINE OVERHEATS. THIS HEAT IS TRANSFFERED TO THE ALUMINIUM COVER, CAUSING IT TO WARP. FORD HAS EVEN ISSUED A TECHINICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS FRONT COVER GASKET STATING THAT WHEN IT IS REPLACED A NEW TYPE OF GASKET NEEDS TO BE USED. THIS NEW TYPE OF GASKET REDUCES THE HEAT TRANSFER TO THE FRONT COVER PREVENTING WARPAGE. *AK
I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. ABOUT THIS AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY OF $1410.00 FOR THE REPAIR CAUSED BY THE BLOWN HEAD GASKET. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THESE MOTORS YEARS AGO FOR THEY NEW THAT THEY HAD A HEAD GASKET PROBLEM AND JUST INORGED IT. *AK
THE FAILURE IS WITH THE HEAD GASKET WHICH CAUSES COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE CYLINDERS AND WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT. FORD EXTENDED THE COVERAGE OF THIS PROBLEM TO 100,000 MILES BUT I HAD 114,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT IF THIS PROBLEM IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE HEAD GASKET THEN IT SHOULD BE REPLACED WHETHER OR NOT IT IS OVER 100,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *AK
I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A 1995 WINDSTAR AND SHE ALSO, HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADGASKET. I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS A DEFECT WHICH HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED OR JUST IGNORED BY THE FORD MANUFACTURERS. *AK
AFTER INITIALLY GETTING THE HEAD GASKETS REPLACED AT NO CHARGE IN DEC. 1999, THE VAN HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS IN MARCH 2000. THE SYMPTOMS WERE NO HEAT, IRRADIC TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND LOSS OF ANTI-FREEZE. I BROUGHT THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER IN MARCH 2000. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIMING COVER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. INITIALLY THE ESTIMATE WAS FOR $900 BUT I HAD COMPLAINED TO FORD MOTOR AND THE DEALER (ABLE FORD) CHARGED ME $715 FOR THE REPAIR. NOW THE VAN STARTED TO EXHIBIT AN ERRATIC TEMPERATURE GAUGE, THE NEEDLE GOING UP AND DOWN PROBABLY FROM AIR POCKETS IN THE SYSTEM, AND RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH. MY DILEMA IS WHETHER OR NOT TO TRUST THE DEALER AND FORD TO DIAGNOSE, AND FIX THE CAR PROPERLY. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED, TECH ADVISOR DETERMINED IT WAS THE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR WHICH WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELRATOR, THE ENGINE HESITATED, CONSUMER RECEIVED WARRANTY EXTENSION ON HEAD GASKET, THE ENGINE ULTIMATELY FAILED, AND THE HEAD GASKET WAS REPLACED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOWEVER THE HESITATION PROBLEM IMPROVED BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND AS WELL BEFORE, THE HEISTATION BECAME WORSE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED, BUT NOT DUE TO THE HEAD GASKET, CONSUMER RECEIVED A SECOND OPINON BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT WATER WAS DETECTED IN THE #6 CYLINDER AND DETERMINED THAT THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL, THE MECHANIC ATTRIBUTED THE ROOT CAUSE OF PROBLEM TO BE A HEAD GASKET FAILURE, HOWEVER MANUFACTURER IS NOT HONORING WARRANTY STATING THAT THE GASKET WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE FAILED ENGINE WAS NOT DUE TO GASKET FAILURE, AND ALSO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS NOT AN AUTHORIZED FORD REPAIR FACILITY.*JG
WE BOUGHT THIS VAN 6/96. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 14 TIMES SINCE THEN, INCLUDING A RECALL FOR THE GAS TANK, AND THE HEAD GASKETS (WHICH BLEW AND WE REPLACED AND THEN A YEAR LATER FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL). NOW, WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES ON IT, THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. WE HAVE OWNED 14 VEHICLES IN 24 YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER BLOWN HEAD GASKETS (ENGINES) OR TRANSMISSION. THESE (THIS) VEHICLES HAVE A PROBLEM!
I HAD THIS WINDSTAR TOWED TO WHITEHEAD FORD IN PANAMA CITY FLA. THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID IT WOULD COST $1410.00 TO FIX AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS 216 MILES OVER THE 100000 MILE 7 YEAR EXT. WARANTY . IT SEEM TO ME THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS . AND I THINK FORD SHOULD REFUND ME MY MONEY BACK. WHO SHOULD I CONTACT BEFORE I TAKE THIS MATTER TO COURT . THANKS. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY CORROSION OF THE BRAKE LINE WHICH LED TO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.*AK
VEHICLE JUST CUT OFF. CONSUMER HAD TO BE TOLD TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED MOTOR AND OIL GASKET. THEN, JULY 6 OF 2000 MOTOR WENT OUT AGAIN . TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE MOTOR AND CRANKSHAFT. *AK
HEAD GASKET&TIMING COV.GASKET REPLACED. 357 MILES LATER, ENGINE BLEW. *AK
THE FIRST TIME MY ENGINE FAILED IT WAS WITH THE HEAD GASKETS WHICH I FOUND OUT LATER...I WENT OUT TO MY VAN AFTER WORK AND TRIED TO START MY VAN AFTER IT STARTED IT IMMIDIATLY OVERHEATED AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. I TRIED TO START IT AGINE AND THEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE ACTING UNUSAL...GOT OUT AND NOTICED THE ANTIFREEZE COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE...I TOOK IT TRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC WHO IS A BLCOK AWAY HE THEN DISCOVERD THE PROBLEM AND CONTACTED FORD WHO THE FIXED THE HEAD GASKETS. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH DOEW THE INTERSTATE AND NOTICED THE OIL LIGHT ON THEN NOTICED A VERY LOUD NOISE AND PROCEDED TO EXIT . MY ENGINE THEN FAILED AND I WAS STUCK ON THE OFF RAMP. I HAD THE VAN TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE DIAGNOSED IT AS A BLOWN ENGINE DUE TO A BAD OIL REGULATER AND PUMP WHICH IN TURN BLEW THE ENGINE DUE TO THE COMPLETE LOSS OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. MY MECHANIC CONTACTED FORD TO HAVE THEM PAY FOR A REPLACE ENGINE TO NO AVAIL..HE DIAGNOSED THE THE PROBLEM WITH THE OIL REGULATOR DAMEGED DUE TO THE COOLANT PREVIOUSLY FLOWING THROUGHTHE ENGINE DURING THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE . I AHVE HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPALCED AT A PRICE OF 3000. ND HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR ONE WEEK AND THEN STRUGGLE WITHOUT TRANSPORTAITON THERAFTER..FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH WHILE WE LOOKED VERY HARD FOR AN ENGINE WHICH SEEMED UNUSALLY AHRD TO FIND. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CONSUMER SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE CONCERNING EXTENSION OF WARRANTY. REQUEST WAS DENIED. ALSO, REAR AXLE/ WINDSHIELD WIPERS/ CASSETTE, & OIL PUMP WERE BROKEN. MANUFACTURER WASN'T RESPONDING. DEALER WAS OUT OF BUSINESS. *AK
