I TOOK MY 2001 FORD WINDSTAR SE TO BULL VALLEY FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REAR AXLE RECALL AND WAS INFORMED OF SEVERE RUSTING OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME FROM ONE OF THE SERVICE DESK REPRESENTATIVES AFTER THE INSPECTION. AFTER MORE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL INTERNET POSTINGS REGARDING THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE FORD WINDSTARS. IS THERE AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS INFERIOR PRODUCT THAT FORD MANUFACTURING HAS USED ON THESE SUBFRAMES? IT IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE NOT ONLY FOR THE VEHICLE OWNER/OPERATOR BUT EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROADWAYS!!! *TR

BOTH REAR SHOCKS HAVE BROKEN WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65-70 MPH. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER.*AK
OWN 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. YELLOW ABS & RED BRAKE LIGHT STAY ON CONSTANTLY. HAVE ALREADY REPLACED DE-AC SWITCH UNDER MASTER CYLINDER AND HAVE NEW BRAKE PADS. READING FAULT CODE C1185, C1198, C1194, C1254, C1246, C1250, C1242, C1214, C1210. ALL POINTS TO ABS ECU. *TR
TO SUMMARIZE, WE BOUGHT A 2001 NEW FORD WINDSTAR VAN ON OCT. 6 FROM COURTESY FORD. THE BRAKES FAILED ON OCT. 8, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH SLIGHT DAMAGE. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN WRAY, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. FORD, THROUGH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE, OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 5 YEARS. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY HAD SENT AN ENGINEER FROM DENVER TO WRAY WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. I HAVE A SIGNED DOCUMENT FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER IN WRAY STATING THAT NO ONE HAS COME TO LOOK AT THE VAN. NEITHER MY WIFE NOR I FEEL THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY SINCE FORD HAS LIED TO US REGARDING THEIR DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM. WE DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING OURSELVES AND/OR OUR GRANDCHILDREN AT RISK WHEN THERE SEEMS TO BE NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE BRAKES FAILED INITIALLY. I HAVE MUCH DOCUMENTATION AND A CHRONOLOGY OF THE EVENTS THAT BROUGHT US TO WHERE WE ARE TODAY. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART OF THIS WHOLE DEAL IS FORD'S RELUCTANCE TO EVEN RESPOND TO OUR CALLS AND LETTERS. WE SIMPLY WANT A VEHICLE THAT IS FREE FROM DEFECTS. UPON IMPACT BOTH SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FOR THE DRIVER OR THE PASSENGER.*AK
REOCCURRING ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AFTER VECHICLE IN FOR FIRST COURTESY SERVICE. DEALERSHIP CANNOT DETERMINE EXACT PROBLEM. SO FAR HAVE REPLACED FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY, PRESSURE TRANSDUCER AND ASBLY FUEL VAPOR CONTROL. NO SUCCESS. REPORTED PROBLEM TO MANUFACTURER AND AWAITING A DESICION FROM REGIONAL ENGINEER FOR A POSSIBLE VEHICLE EXCHANGE.
SLIDING DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONED, AND IS UNABLE TO UNLOCK. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
AS MY WIFE BACKED THE VAN OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE REAR AXLE BROKE IN HALF. *TR
NOTICED A SQUEAKING SOUND UNDER DRIVERS SIDE FOUND TWO DEFECTIVE TIE RODS.*AK
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM SEALED COMPLETELY ON MY RIGHT THUMB. IT DID NOT SENSE THAT THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION AND MY THUMB WAS DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY. WHEN THUMB WAS RELEASED, IT WAS COMPLETELY FLAT (SIZE OF A FLAT QUARTER) AND HAD EXTENSIVE CRUSHING DAMAGE. HAD NO FEELING FOR 4 MONTHS. NAIL DIED AND TOOK UNTIL JANUARY 2002 TO FALL OFF, CAUSING MUCH DISCOMFORT AND INABILITY TO PERFORM DAILY TASKS FOR FAMILY. CURRENTLY, NAIL HAS NOT GROWN BACK AND MAY NOT EVER. THIS DOOR MECHANISM, WHEN TESTED SHUT ON PLASTIC CUPS, STICKS, AND OTHER SMALL OBJECTS. THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE AND SHOULD HAVE AN INFA RED SENSOR THAT BACKS UP THE DOOR WHENEVER ITS BEAM IS BROKEN. IT CURRENTLY HAS A MECHANICAL SENSOR SO ONLY IF SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL (IE: AN ADULTS WHOLE BODY) IS WEDGED IN DOOR, WILL IT BACK UP. EVEN THEN, IT CLOSES CONSIDERABLY (AND FRIGHTENINGLY ON VICTOM) BEFORE OPENING. I FEAR THAT ONE OF MY CHILDREN WILL GET WRIST OR HAND CLOSED AND CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE. I STILL HAVE SHOOTING PAIN IN JOINT OF THUMB AND NO THUMB NAIL. I NEED HELP DEMONSTRATING PRODUCT MALFUNCTION BEFORE MY CHILD OR SOMEONE ELSE'S IS SERIOUSLY CRUSHED!*AK
CONSUMER STATED ARM REST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS BROKEN, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK CLUNK NOISE IN FRONT END WHILE TURNING OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, CAN ALSO BE FELT WITH VIBRATION, PASSENGER SIDE DASH AREA HANGING. BOTH SLIDING DOOR RUBBER STOPS MISSING, DRIVERSIDE SLIDING DOOR STOP REPLACED. GRINDING NOISE IN REAR WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. WHEN HEAT IS ON VENT SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING. WIPERS WILL NOT CLEAR WINDSHIELD, WASHER SOLVENT SPRAYS IN ONE SPOT. NORMAL OPERATION. *TT
WINDSHIELD HAS BROKEN ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN DEBRIS FROM TRAVELING HIT WINDSHIELD. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
NHTSA RECALLS 01V261000 AND 01V207000. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED FOR REPAIRS. DEALER FAILED TO RETURN PHONE CALLS OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD, AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA, THE DEALER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. *SLC
THIS FORM WAS FILLED OUT TWO DAYS AGO AND I COULDN'T GET THE FORM TO DO WHAT I WANTED. THE FIRST REPORT ON THIS VEHICLE INVOLVED A CRAKED CERAMIC FITTING AT THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK. THIS REPORT INVOLVES A SUDDEN AND RAPID LOSS OF FUEL TO WHICH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FIRE AND A SUBSEQUENT EXPLOSION. PLEASE REFER TO MY REPORT OF TWO DAYS AGO. FORD BELT BUCKLE INSPECTION IS PROBABLY FLAWED. THE PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLES IN BOTH MY 2001 WINDSTAR AND 2001 F-250 INTERMITTENTLY LATCH IN THE "SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED" POSITION AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL PAPERWORK.*AK RQ04011.*PCO
WHILE SITTING CURBSIDE ON THE STREET IN MY FRONT YARD, THE REAR WINDOW OF MY FORD WINDSTAR BLEW OUT. IT WAS ABOUT 10:00 AM ON A 75 DEGREE MORNING. MY WIFE AND NEIGHBOR WERE IN THE FRONT YARD AND WITNESSED THE EVENT. FORD DENIED A PROBLEM AND FORCED US TO GO THROUGH OUR INSURANCE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN ON THE ROAD.*AK
MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2001. THERE WAS A RECALL PUT OUT FOR THE SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY. IN 2011, ACCORDING TO SUNSET FORD DEALERSHIP (WHERE I TOOK IT FOR AXLE REPAIR AND WAS DENIED) THE RECALL WAS REMEDIED IN 2011. HOWEVER, AS STATED ALONG WITH THE RECALL NOTICE, THE TIME THAT THE BRACKETS WERE MIS INSTALLED CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE REAR AXLE, CORROSION AND FRACTURING. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE RIGHT NOW AND THE DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH FORD CORPORATE IS SAYING THIS AXLE REPAIR WILL BE FULLY AT MY COST. ACCORDING TO THEIR AUTOMATED RECALL PHONE INFORMATION, UP UNTIL 2016 THEY WERE OFFERING TO REPLACE THE AXLE FOR $300 ( A DISCOUNTED RATE) FOR CUSTOMERS AFFECTED. I DO NOT AT ALL FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE A FEW TIMES NOW AND HAVE BEEN TOLD NO ITS NOT THEIR FAULT. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY SUNSET FORD, THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY THEM $140 AN HOUR FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE IT AND TELL ME SPECIFICALLY WHAT IS WRONG. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN THERE ONCE TO CHECK THE RECALL WHERE THEY TOOK PICTURES ( INCLUDED) AND SENT THEM TO FORD CORPORATE WHERE I WAS TOLD NO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED AND I NEED HELP GETTING FORD TO AGREE.
WITHOUT WARNING SIDE ELECTRICAL DOOR WILL OPEN AND SHUT WITHOUT COMMAND. ALSO SENSOR ON DOOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING ACCURATELY, DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. MECHANIC HAS SERVICED VEHICLE 8 TIMES, AND HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER ADDS THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS THE PROBLEM. THE DOOR WILL ALSO CLOSE OR OPEN PATHWAY THEN CHANGE DIRECTIONS. DOOR MOTION CAN GO ON FOR 5 MINUTES. SENSOR ALSO FAILED. DOOR WILL PUSH ON ANYTHING THAT IS IN ITS WAY. *TT
THIS VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 7/12 AND ON THE WAY HOME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR CORRECTION. FINALLY DETERMINED THAT A CERAMIC PLUG AT THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK HAD CRACKED. NEEDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE TANK AND IT WAS. TWO WEEKS LATER DRIVING AND A BIG TIME GAS LEAK DEVELOPED-FIRE DEPT CALLED AND VEHICLE TOWED FOR REPAIR. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT WE WERE LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NOT A FIRE AND ENSUING EXPLOSION. THERE WAS ANOTHER WINDSTAR AT THE DEALER AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
ON JULY 9, 2001, WHILE CHANGING A FLAT TIRE, THE JACK FAILED. IT CRUMPLED JUST NEAR THE APOGEE. I PUT THE JACK EXACTLY WHERE INSTRUCTED. THE TOWING SERVICE TOLD ME THEY HAD SEEN OTHER JACKS FAIL IN SIMILAR WAYS. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER, I WAS MADE TO FEEL THAT I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG AND THERE WAS RELUCTANCE TO REPLACE MY JACK. ONLY WHEN I CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN DID THEY PUT IN A WARRANTY REQUEST.*AK
ABS SWITCH BELOW MASTER CYLINDER CAUGHT ON FIRE LEAKING FLUID ON WIRES THEN BLEW FUSE TO SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER AND OVERDRIVE DEALER SAYS NO RECALL HAD TO BUY FUSE AND TAKE TO GARAGE TO FIX OTHER PROBLEMS CAUSED FIX WIRING BADLY BURNT. *TR
WE TOOK A 300 MILE TRIP TO CHICAGO IN OUR WINDSTAR THAT WE JUST PURCHASED LESS THAN 2 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY. WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN, THE VAN STARTED ACTING UP. WHEN WE WOULD TAKE OFF FROM A STOP, THE VAN WOULD JERK AND BOUNCE LIKE MAYBE THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED. WE STOPPED DRIVING IT WHILE WE WERE UP THERE UNTIL WE HAD TO LEAVE. ON OUR DRIVE HOME, WE WERE ABOUT 100 MILES FROM HOME THE O/D LIGHT CAME ON. THEN A LITTLE LATER, I NOTICED SOME TYPE OF LIQUID COMING OUT THE BACK. WE TRIED TO GET HOME BUT AT 90 MILES FROM HOME THE VAN TOTALLY QUIT MOVING. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UNDER THE VAN WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED HOME ($240) WE TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY HAD TO REPLACE A FRONT SEAL AND TORQUE CONVERTER ($950). I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSTAR. NOW THE BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COME ON OCCASIONALLY AND WON'T GO OFF UNTIL IT'S TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSTARS. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN FOR THAT YET BUT DREADING IT. THIS IS A VERY NICE VEHICLE AND I AM RATHER DISAPPOINTED IN IT.
WHILE DRIVING BRAKES WERE MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. BRAKES WOULD SKIP BEFORE THEY STOPPED VEHICLE. WHILE COMING TO AN INTERSECTION BRAKES FAILED, THEY ALLOWED CONSUMER TO SLOW DOWN. THEN, CONSUMER HAD TO PUT CAR IN PARK. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHEN I STARTED MY MINIVAN IT WAS AN AFTERNOON. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I STARTED DRIVING THE MINIVAN IT WAS LIKE FORCING IT SELF THEN I WOULD CHANGE THE SPEED AND IT WOULD SOUND DIFFERENT BUT IT FELT LIKE IT WAS HEAVY, I WOULD CHANGE IT TO N AND IT STILL MAKE THIS SOUND LIKE IF I WAS DRIVING ON A WET HIGHWAY AND ENGINE WAS STILL LOUD. WHEN I WOULD SPEED MORE THAN 30 MPH IT JUST WOULDN'T RESPOND AS IT DID BEFORE. I PURCHASED THIS MINIVAN NOT TO LONG AGO -I WOULD SAY CLOSE TO A MONTH-. WHEN TAKING IT FOR A TEST DRIVE EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD, SOUNDED OK -OTHER THAN THE SHOCKS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED- AND NO LIGHTS WERE ON. BUT AFTER TWO DAYS HAD GONE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THAT THE ABS LIGHT WOULD "SOMETIMES" TURN ON AND WOULD TURN OFF ON ITS OWN. SO, I HAD A MECHANIC INSPECT THE MINIVAN FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SHOCK WONDERING IF THIS MIGHT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT STARTED TO TURN ON. WENT BACK TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE IT CAME MAKING WEIRD SOUND ON THE LEFT SIDE SO HE TOLD ME THAT BRAKE PADS ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SO I THOUGHT TO MYSELF THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM WHICH IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. NOW AFTER CLOSE TO A MONTH OF OWNING THIS MINIVAN AND WEATHER BECOMING MUCH HOTTER I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AGAIN TODAY AND HE SUGGESTED THAT A TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE MINIVAN INSPECTED SINCE HE WAS ALSO AWARE OF A RECALL DONE ON THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES. I AM JUST AFRAID TO KEEP ON DRIVING IT BECAUSE I CAN TELL SOMETHING IS JUST NOT RIGHT AND I FEEL THAT IT'S JUST GOING TO BRAKE DOWN ON ME ANYTIME SOON. AND SINCE I HAVE A BABY I PREFER NOT TO DRIVE OR DRIVE A LONG DISTANCE OR EVEN ON A HIGH SPEED.
VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK, AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS SMOKING. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED CAMPSHAFT AT 48 MILES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFOMATION. *AK
THE TAIL PIPE STICKS OUT VERY FAR AND HAS VERY SHARP POINTS ON IT. SON PUNCTURED HIS LEFT KNEE ON ONE OF THE POINTS. IT DUG INTO HIS KNEE AND LEFT A GAPPING HOLE WHICH NEEDED STITCHES. TAIL PIPE STICKS OUT TOO FAR AND THE END SHOULD BE EVEN ALL AROUND.
ONLY METHOD OF OPENING VEHICLE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE USING A KEY IS THROUGH DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OR USING REMOTE ENTRY SYSTEM. CONSUMER COMPLAINT IS THAT IF DRIVER'S DOOR IS INOPERABLE ,AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE, THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN VEHICLE FROM OUTSIDE. *AK THERE SHOULD BE AN OPTION TO MANUALLY OPEN EACH OF THE DOORS. ELIMINATING THIS OPTION WAS JUST TO SAVE A FEW DOLLARS ON THE PART OF THE MANUFACTUREE. *YH
THE POWER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS CLOSE TO THE "FLUSH" POSITION. THE MINIVAN HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASSIONS. 1ST TIME: DOOR GOES TO THE CLOSED POSITION THEN RETRACTS SLIGHTLY OPEN AND STAYS THERE. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO POWERSLIDE WHERE UNSUCCFESSFUL. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEAL AND THEY MAD AN "ADJUSTMENT" (DETAILS NOT AVAILABLE). 2ND TIME: DOOR RETRACTS SLIGHTLY AFTER REACHING THE CLOSED POSITION. WILL EVENTUALLY REACH THE CLOSED POSITION BUT ONLY WITH MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. ALSO, DETECTION OF OBJECT IN THE PATH OF SLIDING DOOR NOT WORKING WELL. I NEEDED TO STOP THE DOOR FROM SLIDING WITH THE ENTIRE FORCE OF MY BODY (THIS OULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED MY 3-YEAR OLD IF SHE HAD BEEN STANDING THERE AT THE TIME). A VISIT TO FORD RESULTING IN REPROGRAMMING THE SENSOR AS THEY ARE RECEIVING INFORMATION FROM FORD ON THESE REPAIRS ON A WEEKLY BASIS. TESTED THE SLIDING DOOR IN FORD'S PARKING LOT BEFORE LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. GOT HOME, SWITCHED AROUND MY CARSEATS, AGAIN, THE DOOR DID NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. LEFT IT ALONE FOR A WHILE, WENT BACK OUTSIDE AND THE DOOR SUCCESSFULLY CLOSED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. DID NOT HAVE OCCASSION TO USE THE SLIDING DOOR FOR 4 DAYS, OPEN. *AK

BOTH SLIDING DOORS DID NOT CLOSE FULLY. THE DOORS WOULD SHUT AND POP BACK OPEN EVEN WHEN LOCKED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS BUT ONLY PROVIDED A TEMPORARY FIX. THE FAILURE STILL EXIST. AT 50,000 THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED TWICE WITHIN A YEAR BECAUSE IT CONTAINED A LEAK. *JB
RECALL 00V27000/MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 00S26 CONCERNING AIR BAG ASSEMBLY FAILURE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. WHEN CONSUMER ARRIVED AT DEALER HE WAS TOLD IN A RUDE MANNER THAT PART WASN'T IN, AND TO GET OUT. *AK
DASH LIGHTS ON; ENGINE, ABS, BRAKE, OVERDRIVE BLINKS, SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING, CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. THIS TURNED INTO AN EXPENSIVE ECM REPAIR CAUSED ABY A LEAKING BRAKE FLUID WHICH SHORTED OUT WIRING AND FUSES. *TR
(1) I HAD VARIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING ON THE VAN STARTING ABOUT 4 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT WITH. NOTHING REALLY LEAD UP TO THE FAILURES. (2) BRAKES WOULD FAIL FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT WAS USUALLY AFTER I WOULD HIT A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE LIGHTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WOULD FEEL AS THE ANTILOCK BRAKES WOULD KICK ON FOR NO REASON. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RECOVER UNTIL THEY WERE RELEASED AND PRESSED AGAIN. SEVERAL TIMES I WOULD HAVE HIT SOMEONE IF THEY WERE IN FRONT OF ME. (3) I SENT MANY COMPLAINTS TO FORD, THE DEALERSHIPS, ETC. THERE POLICY WAS IF THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM THEN THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. I COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM EITHER. THIS WOULD JUST HAPPEN OUT OF THE BLUE. I HAVE HAD WITNESS IN THE VAN WHEN THIS HAPPENED. FORD DENIED TWO DEALERS FROM WORKING ON THE VAN (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY) BECAUSE THE DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I REPLACED THE SHOCKS AND TIRES ON THE VAN. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE THEN. I DID EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF TO HAVE SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. TALKED TO FORD, DEALERS, FILLED OUT SIMILAR FORMS ON AUTO SAFETY WEBSITES, ETC. I AM TRULY DISAPPOINTED THAT NO ONE EVER LOOKED INTO THIS PROBLEM. IF THIS IS HAPPENING ON OTHER FORD WINDSTAR'S THEN THERE ARE SOME VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED. *NM
2001 FORD WINDSTAR SEL MY BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ARE ON FREQUENTLY . . . I NOTICE THIS DURING AND AFTER RAIN OR WHEN CONDITIONS ARE WET OUTSIDE . . . CONSTANT STALLING OF VEHICLE IN RAIN OR HUMID WEATHER. VEHICLE STALL WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS IN USE. ROUGH IDLE AND STALLING WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND ENGINE IS RUNNING. ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN CONSTANT AND ONGOING DESPITE REPEATED REPLACEMENT OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SINCE DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER OF 2000. *TR

2001 FORD WINDSTAR BRAKE FAILURE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES GAVE WAY WHILE SHE WAS STOPPED. SHE STATES THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. SHE SAID THIS PAST TIME SHE WENT OVER A CEMENT STRIP AND HIT A GROUND FIXTURE. *KB THE PANEL ON THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. *JB

CONSUMER STATES THAT THE REAR AXLE CRACKED AND BROKE IN TO TWO PARTS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED PRIOR TO HER SERVICE APPOINTMENT, SHE HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIDE. FORTUNATELY, SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE ARRIVED HOME, SHE LOOKED UNDER THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED A LARGE CRACK IN THE REAR AXLE. *JB
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN MAIL CONCERNING THROTTLE PEDAL STICKING, AND CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. INQUIRED IF HAD PARTS AVAILABLE BEFORE BRING VEHICLE IN, AND WAS INFORMED THEY DID. TOOK VEHICLE IN, AND LATER INFORMED NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. WOULD NEED TO ORDER PARTS, AND WOULD HAVE MATS IN A FEW DAYS. OWNER WAS UPSET REGARDING ISSUE.*AK
THE POWER REAR DOORS ATTEMPT TO SHUT BUT THEN FAIL TO LATCH LEAVING THE DOORS AJAR. THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY DURING HOT WEATHER. MY DAUGHTER WAS INJURED WHEN BOTH DOORS FAILED TO LATCH AND THEN THE CHILDREN SHUT THE DOOR MANUALLY (NON-POWER ASSIST) INJURING HER FINGERS IN THE DOOR. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE FAILURE TO LATCH HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER FORD WINDSTAR OWNERS WE KNOW WITH 1999 OR 2000 MODELS. THIS TIME THE TEMPTURE WAS IN THE 70'S
