MY WIFE ASKED ME TO CHECK THE BRAKES BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. I HAD CHECKED THE WHEELS FOR ANY LEAKAGE AND FOUND NONE. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LOW SO I STARTED TO LOOK FOR LEAK AT OTHER PLACES AND FOUND THE LEAK AT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING ON THE WIRES. SO I LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND A ARTICLE THAT CAN CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS WHY I AM MAKING THIS COMPLAINT. I AS HAVE LOST MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THE ARTICLE SAID THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN. I AM GOING TO CHANGE THE SWITCH AND REPLACE THE FUSE IF NEEDED. *TR
BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH LEAKS ONTO HOT SURFACES IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUSING SMOKE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS; THE "ABS" AND "PARKING BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURES CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,00. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
IT APPEARS THAT I AM HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS OTHER FORD WINDSTAR OWNERS. I HAVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WHICH BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT CONTINUALLY ILLUMINATES. I HAVE NOT HAD TO REPLACE ANYTHING ON IT YET, BUT WOULD LIKE THIS LOOKED INTO FURTHER AS IT IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY FORD WINDSTAR OWNERS. *TR
ABS SYSTEM AND CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE, INTERMITTENT OVER THE LAST 9 MONTHS. *TR
MY WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO SET MY CRUISE CONTROL ON MY VAN WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD SOUND FROM MY ENGINE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND FROM TIME TO TIME IT BLINKS. THERE IS A BURNING SMELL SOMETIMES ALSO. THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I SET MY CRUISE CONTROL. IT STARTS AND RUNS BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. *TR
WE OWN A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WE HAVE HAD THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON SPORADICALLY FOR THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED ON THE CAR SINCE THIS HAS OCCURRED AND THERE HAS BEEN NO CAUSE FOUND FOR THE LIGHTS TO KEEP COMING ON. *TR
THE ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE, AS WELL THE CRUISE CONTROL, SPEEDOMETER KEEP FLUCTUATING ON THE 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THIS IS RELATED TO THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH ON THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE LIGHTS STAY ON AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE STARTS. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS. ABOUT FEBRUARY 15, 2008 I WAS HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING PRESSURE IN MY BRAKES. THEY WERE SPONGY. I CALLED A MECHANIC AND BROUGHT IT TO HIM ON FEBRUARY 16TH. HE SAID IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND REPLACED IT AND THE WHEEL CYLINDERS. WELL, THE VAN WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2008 MY BRAKES AGAIN WENT SPONGY. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THERE WAS NONE. I REFILLED THE CONTAINER, AND CALLED A MECHANIC. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO HIM ON FEBRUARY 26, 2008. HE DETERMINED IT WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL PRESSURE SWITCH. I THEN WENT TO TOUSLEY FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE PART. TOUSLEY FORD IN MINNESOTA SAID THIS PARTICULAR PART IS IN RECALL FOR SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT MINE. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE PART AND THE VEHICLE HASN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, NOW THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS AGAIN. IT HAD GONE OUT LAST SUMMER SOME TIME. THIS RECALL IS FOR A FIRE HAZARD, AND I SAW WHERE THE BRAKE FLUID CAN LEAK THROUGH THAT SWITCH ONTO WIRING SO THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FIRE IN MY VAN. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT MY VEHICLE, AND FAMILY ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT TO ME AS THE VEHICLES AND FAMILIES OF THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO WERE ABLE TO GET THEIR VEHICLES FIXED IN THE RECALL. I DRIVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR SPORT MINIVAN. I DO FOSTER CARE AND HAVE BIRTH CHILDREN, AND GRANDCHILDREN IN THAT VEHICLE ALL THE TIME. SO, I AM VERY UPSET THAT FORD DOES NOT RECALL THIS FIRE HAZARD ON ALL VEHICLES. MY FAMILY IS VERY IMPORTANT! *TR

MY CRUISE CONTROL SPEED ACCELERATED THEN WENT OUT NOT WORKING AT ALL, ABS LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON EVEN AFTER I HAD BRAKE WORK DONE, ODOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ON 1/16/08, BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER, FUSE 10 KEEPS BLOWING, THIS LAST TIME 1/18/08 SMOKE UNDER THE HOOK BY MASTER CYLINDER. DEALER ANALYZED AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL IT'S TSB 03-16-1 (NHTSA SB# 16920) I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET (AS YOU CAN) AND IT'S A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM (I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE PERSONALLY WHO MAY HAVE IT). IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN (OR SHOULD BE) A RECALL ON THIS DEFECT. IN MY CASE, THE VAN WILL LOSE RPM'S, THEN "REV" UP ON COLD STARTUP. WHEN IT DOES THIS, THE VAN EXECUTES A "JERKING" MOTION WHICH TO ME COULD BE DANGEROUS. IN OTHER CASES, IT WILL STALL OR NEARLY STALL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. *TR

I HAVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR LX. JUST THIS PAST JANUARY THE LIGHTS HAVE STARTED TO TURN ON. MY ABS LIGHT, ENGINE LIGHT, BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT. THERE ARE 12-13 CODES THAT SHOW UP FOR MY BRAKES WHEN DIAGNOSED ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE NEW BRAKES ALL AROUND, NEW ROTORS, NEW DRUMS AND WHEN I GO TO STOP THE CAR SQUEALS LIKE A BUS AND GRINDS AS THOUGH I HAVE NO BRAKE PADS AT ALL. SHOP SAYS THE ONLY PLACE I CAN GO TO GET THAT FIXED IS THE DEALER WHERE IT WILL COST ME ABOUT $1500 TO FIX. WHO HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND? MY ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON BECAUSE OF SUPPOSEDLY SOME MODULE INSIDE THE ENGINE. THAT WAS ESTIMATED AT $350+ TO GET FIXED. THE MODULE SUPPOSEDLY IS THE REASON WHY WHEN THE CAR IS DIAGNOSED ON THE COMPUTER, THAT IT SHOWS I HAVE TWO BAD O2 SENSORS. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!! THESE WINDSTARS ARE PURE JUNK!!! *TR
1-1-08, SMOKE FROM ENGINE ON A ROAD TRIP, NOTICED LEAK FROM HOSES CONNECTED TO ABS, (BRAKE FLUID). CONNECTOR MELTED AND WAS REMOVED. MELTED DEACTIVATION SWITCH, CONTINUAL LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID, NEW BRAKES INSTALLED TO NO AVAIL, CONTINUAL SQUEAK OF BRAKES. COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. ALMOST IN TWO ACCIDENTS DUE TO COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES WHILE MY CHILDREN WERE WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS ADDING BRAKE FLUID EVERY OTHER DAY. REPLACING FUSES CONTINUALLY SINCE. BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT GOES ON. CAUSES A SHORT WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ODOMETER READINGS. CONTINUAL ACTIVATION OF BRAKE LIGHT AFTER BRAKE SERVICE. MELTED ABS, ECM WIRING CONNECTOR. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP TO PREVENT ANY FUTURE PROBLEMS, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMEONE GETTING KILLED. *TR
BRAKING DISTANCE SUDDENLY INCREASED; ABS MODULE INTERMITTENTLY FAILS DUE TO DEFECTIVE ECM MODULE. THIS IS A ROUTINE SAFETY ISSUE WITH WINDSTAR VANS THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT FLUID FROM THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH LEAKED ONTO THE AIR BAG MODULE, CAUSING THE AIR BAG TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V399000 (COMPONENT: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS DISPLAYED ON CONTROL CONSOLE. *TR
OVERDRIVE LIGHT BEGINS FLASHING AND OVERDRIVE SHIFTS OUT OGF GEAR. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ON TWO CONSECUTIVE FORD WINDSTARS I'VE OWNED. A 1999 AND 2002. BOTH PROBLEMS OCCURRED AT THE 120,000 MILE MARK. IN BOTH CASES THE TRANSMISSION WAS DIAGNOSE AS NEEDING REPLACEMENT. IN BOTH CASES THE FLASHING O/D LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AFTER THE TRANSMISSIONS WERE REPLACED AT GREAT EXPENSE. THIS TIME I REPLACED THE TRANS IN THE 2002 WITH A TRANS OUT OF A 2005 WITH 52,000 MILES ON IT. NOW 2 MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT IS FLASHING AGAIN BUT THE OVERDRIVE SEEMS TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN THE CASE OF THE 1999 I HAD TO REPLACE THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AFTER REPLACING THE TRANS WHICH I BELIEVED MIGHT HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE BECAUSE I DUMPED THE VEHICLE QUICKLY AFTERWARD. IN THIS CASE I'M GOING TO TRADE IN THE 2002 ON A CHRYSLER PACIFICA *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWERVE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT REGAINED CONTROL AND STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR HIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 115,000.

THE TECHNICIANS WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TO SIX TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ADVISED HER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS ELECTRICAL. THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE CAUSED THE RADIO AND ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO SHUT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE ALSO LEAKED OIL AND POWER STEERING FLUID. SHE STATED THAT PER THE DEALER THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN AXLE, RACK AND PINION WHICH ALSO AFFECTS THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2007 AND THE FAILURE STARTED AS SOON AS SHE PURCHASED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,840.
THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LOW ON FLUID. I KEPT ADDING FLUID AND FOUND IT LEAKING ON THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFF. DEACTIVATION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE FRONT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR VAN THE I AM REFERRING TOO. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V336000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,849. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECT WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL CANCELING SWITCH ON BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. REPLACED KIT BRAKE REPAIR WAS DONE 10/13/07. UPDATED 11/01/07 *TR
ABS LIGHT COMES AND GOES, SOMETIMES ON AND SOMETIMES OFF. WILL IT BE THERE WHEN I NEED IT. I DRIVE ON ROADS COVERED WITH ICE AND SNOW IN THE WINTER AND CARRY MY GRANDCHILDREN. I WORRY FOR THEIR SAFETY. *TR
OUR CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT ON OUR 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE STATION AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING ONTO THE CRUISE CONTROL. IT APPARENTLY IS A RECALL WITH SEVERAL FORD BRANDS BUT NOT WITH THE WINDSTAR YET. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE LUCKY THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT AND THAT IT DIDN'T START A FIRE! *JB
ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON INTERMITTENTLY . NO PARTS REPLACED TO DATE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG UNEXPECTEDLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT, CRASH, OR ANY SUDDEN ACTION AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT DROVE HOME AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED AND FORD IS REFUSING TO REPAIR IT FOR FREE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,800.
VEHICLE WAS OFF AND PARKED. SMOKE FROM UNDER VEHICLE. DISCONNECTED BATTERY TO STOP FIRE. FIRE AT THE CONNECTION OF THE ABS COMPUTER AT SITE OF TWO 40 AMP CIRCUIT CONNECTIONS CAUSED ABS SYSTEM TO STOP WORKING. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON ALL THE TIME, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE DETAILED PICTURES OF THE DAMAGED PART 2F1Z-2C219-BA CONNECTED AS PART OF 1F22-2C346-AC. CODE C1185 WAS PRESENT IN THE ABS COMPUTER PRIOR TO THE FIRE. *TR
FORD WINDSTAR 2002. THE DOORS FREQUENTLY OPEN UP AGAIN AFTER I HAVE HIT THE AUTO DOOR CLOSE BUTTON AND IT TAKES SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO LATCH. ONE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN FOR 6 MONTHS, BUT NOW WILL OCCASIONALLY. THE MOST SERIOUS ISSUE IS THAT LATELY THE SENSOR HAS BEEN SAYING THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED PROPERLY, HOWEVER IT HAS OPENED 6 TIMES NOW WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP ONCE WHEN IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING BUT NOT OPENING WHILE I AM DRIVING, PAID $500 TO GET IT FIXED, AND IT STILL NEVER WORKED WELL. WHEN I TAKE IT BACK IN TO THE DEALER, THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP NOW AND I BASICALLY HAD TO SAY THERE WAS GOING TO BE A LAWSUIT FILED IF ONE OF MY KIDS WAS HURT OR KILLED IF THE DOOR OPENED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING AGAIN, TO GET THEM TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK...THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT AND GET BACK TO ME WITH AN ESTIMATE TO GET IT FIXED!
WHILE DRIVING MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR SE VAN, THE ABS, BRAKE, TRAC CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE HAD THE UNIT CHECKED AND THERE ARE NO CODES IN THE COMPUTER AND ALL SEEMS FINE. I HAVE READ ABOUT FAULTY PARTS AND LEAKS RESULTING IN FIRES. ALSO, MY CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT UP ANY MORE. SOMETIMES IT'S WORKING AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE STAYS ON. I HAD MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND RESET THE SENSOR BUT IT COMES BACK ON IN A FEW DAYS. *TR
WE HAVE A 2002 WINDSTAR VAN. WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE OVERNIGHT, THE ABS MOTOR SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS OFF AND PARKED. WITH THE LOCATION OF THE MOTOR SO CLOSE TO THE FUEL LINE, WE WERE SURPRISED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM DID NOT IGNITE. *TR
WINDSTAR 2002 ABS ECM FAILURE - ABS BRAKE LIGHT. IN WARM WEATHER OR WHEN VEHICLE GETS WARM , ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. BRAKE PEDAL FADE (RIGHT TOO FLOOR) NO LOSS OF FLUID. FRONT AND REAR BRAKES REPLACED, MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, BRAKE SYSTEM BLEED, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED AS "2F2Z-2C219-BA - ECM CONTROL MODULE". THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT VERY DANGEROUS WHEN EXPERIENCED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE MADE A RECALL FROM FORD. THE ECM CONTROL MODULE IS A"KELSY HAYES EBC 430" S108198003. MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH THIS UNIT. I AM A CLASS "A" MECHANIC, THIS IN MY OPINION IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY FORD. *TR

CONTINUE TO HEAR MANY PEOPLE HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH '02 FORD WINDSTAR. OUR BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT STAYS ON AND FUSES KEEP BLOWING, ESP. THE FUSE FOR INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE ABS BRAKE MODULE HARNESS CAUSED THE FAILURE AND HE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND ABS FUSES. AS OF AUGUST 10, 2007, THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. OWN A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. FOR ABOUT 2 YRS. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT/ABS LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEN WE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH FUSES BLOWING. WE WOULD REPLACE THEM AND SOMETIMES THEY WOULD LAST 10 MIN. SOMETIMES 2 WEEKS. NOW BESIDES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING, THE RADIO, CLOCK, CD PLAYER ARE ALL NOT WORKING AND REPLACING FUSES DOESN'T HELP. THERE IS ALWAYS AN ODOR OF BURNING PLASTIC AND AT TIMES SMOKE COMES OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, BUT NO FIRE. I HAVE RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH, YET WHEN I CALLED FORD TO SCHEDULE AN APPT. THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I DON'T BELIEVE THEM A SINCE SUPPOSEDLY BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING AND DESTROYING WIRES. I JUST WANT THIS DOCUMENTED AS I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A LARGE REPAIR BILL. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE RPM'S DECREASED AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE ABOUT TO STALL, BUT THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,914 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
MY ABS BRAKE LIGHT, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF. THEN IT WAS EVERY TIME MY CAR WAS STARTED. I WAS TOLD MY ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR COULD BE DRIVEN, BUT MY ABS BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. I WAS TOLD BY TWO MECHANICS THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM THEY HAD SEEN WITH MY VEHICLE. MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO STICKS. I HAVE NOT USED MY CRUISE IN OVER A YEAR, BECAUSE ONCE ACTIVATED, YOU CAN NOT SHUT IT OFF. THE ONLY WAY IT RESETS IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THE FORD WINDSTAR IS ONE OF THE ONLY FORD VEHICLES NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, BUT UPON DOING A WEB SEARCH HAVE FOUND THAT WINDSTARS HAVE STARTED ON FIRE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. ALSO, I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY MID/READ SEAT LATCHES. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED. I DRIVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE RECENT RECALL SINCE THE BRAKE LINE IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FIRES CAUSED BY THE FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

IT IS NOT KNOWN FOR SURE IF THERE IS ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THESE BRAKES, BUT THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY PROBLEM. LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP REPAIR CENTER DID DIAGNOSIS IN AUG 2007, AND RECOMMENDS THAT THE ABS ECU (ECM?) BE REPLACED. NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE YET. *TR

SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC PRODUCED ERROR CODES; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT THINK THAT THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO THOSE CODES. THE DEALER DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
