WHILE DRIVING MY POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. I HAVE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. I TRAVEL WITH MY KIDS IN MY VEHICLE ON A DAILY BASIS AND I AM SCARED TO PUT THEM IN MY VEHICLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND I AM STILL PAYING ON MY CAR AND CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW ONE. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE,
I HAVE REPLACED TWO IGNITION COILS AND NOW HAVE A THIRD GOING OUT. WHEN THE CAR IS UNDER LOAD IT MISSES.
I JUST LOST BOTH DRL/LOW BEAMS. FIRST THE DRIVER'S SIDE THEN A DAY LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE. THESE ARE THE SECOND SET OF HEADLIGHTS. THIS REPLACEMENT WOULD BE NUMBER 5 AND 6 BULBS. DOESN'T SEEM THAT THEY SHOULD GO OUT THIS MANY TIMES WITH ONLY 66,000 MILES
I HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE STEERING IN MY ACADIA. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND DESCRIBED THE NOISE IT WAS MAKING AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND IT WAS JUST THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE KICKING IN. NOW THE STEERING IS COMPLETELY OUT. WE WERE IN A BUSY PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN AS THE STEERING WENT OUT AS WE WERE TURNING LEFT. THE CAR WAS MOVING SLOWLY AT THE TIME. I AM NOW SEEING SEVERAL FORUMS WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS EVEN A PENDING LAWSUIT. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRIC WHERE THE SAFETY POWER LOCKS DO NOT WORK. MY SON HAS OPENED THE DOOR WHEN THE CAR WAS MOVING BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE HAD 5 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, SO IT'S HARD TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THE ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN CHEVROLET DEALER IN NJ, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH OVERHEATING HEADLIGHT WIRING, THE WIRING AND BULB WERE REPAIRED AND REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT ABOUT 70 MPHS ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTING FLASHING. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE DRIVERS BESIDE AND BEHIND ME. WHILE HONKING MY HORN AND PUTTING ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. TOWED MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP IT FOR ABOUT 8 DAYS SAYING THEY WERE VERY BEHIND. NOTIFIED THEM THAT MY CAR WAS COMING IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS NEVER TOLD THEY WAS BEHIND. FINALLY ABOUT 7 DAYS LATER THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. THEN ON THE 9 DAY THE SERVICE GUY CALLS ME AND SAYS THEY THINK ITS THE MOTOR BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT TO SEE. POSSIBLE COST WOULD BE ANY WHERE FROM $4,000 TO $7,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL SPECIAL COVERAGE OPEN ON MY CAR SUCH AS TIMING CHAIN , WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL, LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THROTTLE BODY. AFTER READING OTHER GMC CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS I FEEL IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP STATES THEY DON'T KNOW WHATS EXACTLY WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT TILL THEY TAKE OUT MY ENGINE.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DAY RUNNING LIGHT CONTINUES TO BURN OUT. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE, BUT GMC WILL NOT FILE A RECALL. DEALER CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO OFFERED A DISCOUNT TO ME FOR THE COSTLY REPAIR OF BOTH HEADLIGHTS WHICH I DID NOT ACCEPT DUE TO THE EXPENSE. GMC KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING BASED ON THEIR OFFER TO ME. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE WIRING RUNS HOT AND VISIBILITY CAN BE REDUCED WITH ONE LIGHT OUT. IT'S AN OBVIOUS ENGINEERING ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BULB GASKET THAT HOLDS THE DAYTIME RUNNING EXTERIOR LIGHTS MELTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER AN UNKNOWN RECALL RELATED TO THE BULB GASKET BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
HEADLIGHT OUT 1.5 MO AGO, THEN OTHER SIDE WENT OUT. MECHANICS HAVE TO REMOVE BUMPER TO GET TO BULB!!! $300-400 MINIMUM LABOR AND PARTS. STRUTS IF SHOCK ABSORBERS STUCK DOWN AFTER UP ON RACK AFTER 2 DIFFERENT TIRE CHANGES REPAIRS. CAR ROAD WOBBLY UNTIL IT WAS FIXED AT MY E PENSR. IS THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR A LEMON OR WHAT?
GMC KNOWS OF DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THEY ADDRESSED SOME OF THESE ISSUES IN TSBS AND THE INFORMATION WAS KNOWN BY DEALERS BUT NEVER CONVEYED TO OWNERS THAT DID NOT RECEIVE A TSB. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED NUMEROUS OIL CHANGES, WHICH IF INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND MORE CLOSELY MONITORED, COULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE FIX, BUT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER INFORMED THE OWNER OF POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES OF NOT INCREASING OIL CHANGE FREQUENCY. ACCORDING TO DEALER, GM FORBIDS THEM FROM DISCLOSING SUCH INFORMATION. THESE ENGINES WERE ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A PRESSED ON CRANKSHAFT RELUCTOR THAT COULD SHIFT AND RESULT IN A TOTAL CRANKSHAFT REPLACEMENT. FAILURE OF ANY OF THESE VITAL ENGINE PARTS ALONE OR TOGETHER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION COULD, I BELIEVE, CAUSE AN ENGINE SEIZURE WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES. NON DISCLOSURE BY DEALERS TO ALERT OWNERS WHO COULD THEN DIVEST THEMSELVES OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE THE 120K DEADLINE SET BY GM IS DISHONEST AT BEST. NO TSBS RELATING TO THIS WERE RECEIVED BY OWNER. THERE IS NOW AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CONCERNING THE TIMING CHAIN AND POSSIBLE RELUCTOR BUT GM IS UNWILLING TO ASSIST WITH REPAIRS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS ABOUT 15K BEYOND THEIR ARBITRARY 120K DEADLINE.
I TOOK MY 09 GMC ACADIA TO THE GM AUTO TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT FIX UNLESS I PAY THE $2043 TO FIX MY POWER STEERING, BUT I BELIEVE ITS ALL RELATED TO THAT POWER STEERING FAILURE THAT IS COVER UNDER THE GM POLICY. AND ITS THE SAME PROBLEM TO ALL THE ACADIA THAT ARE OUT THERE SO I SUGGEST THE GM TO FIX ALL GMC ACADIA WITHOUT ANY COST TO ALL THE OWNERI IF THEY FIX IT RIGHT WE WOULDN'T COMPLAINT AT ALL
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IT ON. WHILE DRIVING AND SITTING STILL MY CAR WILL JERK MULTIPLE TIMES. MAKE A SQUEALING NOISE, GRINDING NOISE AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IT FEELS LIKE MY CAR DOES NOT WANT TO MOVE. THE SQUEALING NOISE ALSO OCCURS WHEN CAR IS BEING CRANKED. THE TIRE SENSOR LIGHT HAS COME ON RECENTLY AS WELL AND I HAVE PUT AIR IN MY TIRES BUT THE SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF.
IN SEPTEMBER 2014, RECALL #14187 WAS PREFORMED AND REPAIR ON MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER NOW IS SEPTEMBER OF 2015, WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT UNDER AIR BAG LIGHT SPECIAL COVERAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED. ISSUE FOR THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT I WAS TOLD IS DUE TO THE FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. CALL GM TO COMPLAIN. WAS TOLD ORIGINAL RECALL WAS REPAIRED. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE. NOW IT IS THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR INSTEAD OF THE TENSIONER.
TOOK 2009 ACADIA SLT TO A DEALERSHIP IN FEB 2015 FOR THE GASKET RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THE DEALERSHIP MARKED THE RECALL AS COMPLETED. HAD THE OIL CHANGED TODAY, 9-25-15, AT A NON-GMC DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE TECHNICIAN TELL ME THAT THE DAYTIME LIGHT WAS JUST HANGING IN THE ASSEMBLY. AFTER LOOKING, I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE OVER TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR REPLACING THE GASKET. I HAVE A HOLE IN THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY THE SIZE OF TEXAS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES WHERE THE GASKET WAS COMPLETELY BURNED AND THE BULB MELTED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT! REALLY?!!! I AM NOT PAYING THEM TO FIX THIS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT THE MELTING HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY COULD EASILY MELT THE WIRES. THE WORST PART IS, I AM SURE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALREADY DAMAGED WHEN THE "REPLACED" THE GASKETS, WHICH NOW I AM SURE THEY DID NOT. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND WITH THIS ISSUE WHEN THE GMC TECHNICIAN WAS SUPPOSE TO FIX THE GASKETS. EVEN IF THE GASKETS WERE ALREADY MELTED, HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME AND HE DID NOT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND REMOVES ANY TRUST THAT I HAD WITH THIS DEALERSHIP.
AT LOW RATES OF SPEED WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE CAR LOSES POWER STEERING FOR A COUPLE SECONDS THEN REENGAGES. THIS CAUSES YOU TO OVER STEER ONCE THE POWER STEERING REENGAGES WHICH ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAUSES NEAR ACCIDENTS WITH OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY NOW AND WE ARE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. WE HAVE HAD THE RACK AND PINION LOOKED AT AND REPLACED BY THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE OF LOW WHINING NOISES AT LOW SPEEDS AND OTHER PROBLEMS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR LESS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
AT LOW RATES OF SPEED, MY 2009 GMC ACADIA TEMPORARILY LOOSES POWER ASSIST STEERING. IT OCCURS OFF AND ON (NOT PREDICTABLE). WHEN THE POWER ASSIST FAILS, I STRUGGLE TO TURN THE WHEEL WHILE IN TRAFFIC. AT A COUPLE TIMES, THE POWER ASSIST KICKED BACK ON SUDDENLY, CAUSING ME TO OVERCOMPENSATE AND ALMOST GET INTO AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN PARK, THE LIFTGATE INADVERTENTLY CLOSED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS BEHIND THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT BECAME WEDGED IN BETWEEN THE LIFTGATE AND THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GAS STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM UNION PARK GMC DEALERSHIP IN WILMINGTON DELWARE ON 7/24/15. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC ON 7/27/15 AFTER NOTICIG A WHINNING NOISE WHEN STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. HE RECOMMENDED RETURNING OIT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER MADE NO REPAIR AND CLAIMED "ALL THESE ACADIAS HAVE THIS WHINING NOISE". I THEN TOOK IT TO MARYLAND STATE INSPECTION WHERE IT FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO "MOISTURE ON RACK", INDICATING A LEAK AND REPLACEMENT OF RACK REQUIRED TO PASS INSPECTION. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS IT VIEWED THE BOOT AND FOUND A STAIN AND REFERRED ME TO TSB # 3352321. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT MADE CLEAR IF THEY ACTUALLY PULLED THE BOOT AND INSPECTED THE RACK AND INSIDE OF BOOT TO DETERMINE IF FLUID WAS ACCUMULATING INSIDE THE BOOT. THEY ALSO CLAIMED THEY DO NOT GUARANTEE VEHICLE WILL PASS INSPECTION. I DID NOTICE THAT WHEN THE DELAER RETURNED THE VEHICLE IT HAD ADDED POWER STERRING FLUID, RASING THE LEVEL FROM JUST BELOW MIN TO JUST ABOVE MAX LEVEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND IT ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT FELL AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER HIS BODY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED TIBIA, FRACTURED PELVIS, PUNCTURED LUNGS, AND SEVEN FRACTURED RIBS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SEAT FAILED TO GO BACKWARDS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE SEAT TRACK AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,215.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE RECALL PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BUMP ON THE HEAD THAT RESULTED IN MINOR HEADACHES. THERE WAS NO MEDICAL ATTENTION REQUIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I JUST ENTERED THE HIGHWAY WITH AN INCREASED SPEED OF 50 MPH WHEN THE DASHBOARD FLASHED..."ENGINE POWER REDUCED." MY CAR WAS ABOUT TO SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE STRETCH WITH CARS ALMOST HITTING ME TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO GATEWAY BUICK GMC IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI WHERE THE SERVICE WORKER INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED THE FOLLOWING: VALVE ELEMENT HEATER HOSE CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR THERMOSTAT MODE DOOR ACTIVATOR I THEN RECEIVED A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY STATING THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. MY CAR IS UNDER TEN YEARS OLD.
HAVING STEERING PROBLEMS WITH MY GMC ACADIA. VEHICLE HAS APPOX. 75K MILES AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF WHERE IT WAS HARD TO STEER MY VEHICLE. I TOOK TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. AND IT'S THE SAME ISSUES EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING WITH THIS MAKE & MODEL VEHILE. RACK & PINION IS LEAKING & I NEED A NEW POWER STEERLING PUMP. THERE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT WITH THIS GMC MAKE AND MODEL AND THE CUSTOMERS SHOULD HAVE TO BARE THE COST OF THESE REPARIS. I ALSO NOTICED THIS OCCURS AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDS TOO. COST OF REPAIRS & LABOR - AROUND $2,200. OF COURSE THE REPAIR GUY ALSO NOTICED 3 OTHER THINGS THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED TOO. THE COST OF THOSE RECOMMENDED REPARIS COST $1,600.
CAR WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 75 MPH AND CLIMBING A HILL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING SO I CANCELLED CRUISE CONTROL, WHEN NOT ACCELERATING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE, UPON ACCELERATION, LIGHT WOULD FLASH AGAIN. MECHANIC RAN TESTS AND FOUND THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS SO HOT THAT IT MELTED HIS RUBBER MALLET. COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE.

I HAVE A 2009 GMC ACADIA. WAS PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2015 FROM BARKER GMC DEALERSHIP. FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WAS IN THE FIRST MONTH OF ME HAVING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO MISFIRE SO HAD TO GET THE COILS CHANGED. THEN MY A/C IS NOT WORKING. IN MAY IT STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THEN END OF JUNE SOMETIME AND IS STILL OCCURING IT STARTS WHEN I AM GOING TO TURN AFTER SLOWING DOWN IT'S LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK AND IS HARD TO TURN. WHEN I AM DRIVING AT A SLOW RATE OR SLOWING DOWN TO TURN SOMEWHERE THAT WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL WANTS TO GET STUCK. THEREFORE MOST DEFINITELY POSES A DANGER TO FAMILY WHEN THEY ARE IN THE VEHICLE TO MYSELF WHEN DRIVING AND TO OTHERS ON THE RODE. THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE! I HAVE 3 DAUGHTERS AND 8 MONTH OLD TWIN BOYS IN THERE AND I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING IT. I BOUGHT THIS ACADIA 2-3 YEARS AFTER THIS LAWSUIT WAS PUT AGAINST THEM AND THE PEOPLE AT GMC DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO TELL ME ABOUT IT'S UNSAFE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING NOR DID IT COME UP WITH ME CHECKING ON THIS VEHICLE. IF I KNEW I COULD GO AFTER THEM TO GET MY 5,500 THAT I PUT DOWN ON THIS VEHICLE AND MY MONEY BACK FOR MY CAR NOTES I HAVE BEEN PAYING SINCE MARCH OF THIS YEAR, I WOULD!!! IF THEY CARED ABOUT THE WELL-BEING OF HUMAN LIFE THEY WOULD NOT STILL BE SELLING ANY OF THE VEHICLES THAT ARE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS TIL THEY RESOLVE THEM!!! LAST JUNE DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION THE DEALER TOLD ME I HAD A SLIGHT LEAK IN THE RACK AND PINION. I QUESTIONED HIM ON WHY A VEHICLE WITH APPROX 48K MILES COULD HAVE A PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT GM ALLOWS SOME LEAKAGE. SHORTLY THERE AFTER I NOTICED AN OCCASIONAL RATCHETING FEEL IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I THEN WOULD EXPERIENCE SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE I MOMENTARILY WOULD LOSE POWER STEERING,THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER.I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A CHARGE OF $130 TO DETERMINE IF IT IS THE PUMP AND NO CHARGE IF IT WAS BAD. I WAS TOLD THE PUMP WAS IN FACT BAD AND THAT THE RACK ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1400. I POLITELY TOLD THEM THAT THE RACK SHOULD NOT LEAK AT 56K MILES AND THE PUMP CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND THAT GM SHOULD PAY THE ENTIRE BILL AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LEAKAGE WAS OK. THEY SAID GM WOULD ONLY COVER THE COST OF PUMP. I ALSO REPLACED 4 LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS IN THE PAST YEAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON APRIL 20, 2015. A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN, ALMOST CAUSING A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AS THE STEERING RACK IS FAULTY. WE CONTINUE TO HAVE DIFFICULTY TURNING THE VEHICLE. I AM TRULY SURPRISED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BECOME A RECALL AFTER REVIEWING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS VERY SAME ISSUE.
CAR STALLS AS I AM TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS, TURNING OR GOING AROUND SIGNIFICANT CURVES IN THE ROAD, WHILE IM IN A ROUND ABOUT ETC. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTS BACK UP AND OFF I GO. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS CAR AND I BOUGHT IT FROM A NON GM DEALER. MY MECHANIC IS AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT IS WRONG BECAUSE A) THERE ARE NO CODES THAT ARE COMING UP AND B) THE STALLING IS VERY SPORADIC, IT WILL DO IT TWICE IN ONE WEEK AND THEN NOT DO IT AGAIN FOR 3 WEEKS. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES. I PULLED THE CARFAX AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID ALL THE WORK ON IT WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION WHILE THEY HAD IT IN FOR SERVICING. ALTHOUGH SHE DIDN'T TELL ME EVERYTHING THAT THEY DID TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE, I DO KNOW THAT THEY WENT AS FAR AS TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD HOPING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE, BUT CLEARLY IT DID NOT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL CARS DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN THE CAR STALLS, EVERYTHING LOCKS UP AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ANYTHING.
WHILE EXITING GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, VEHICLE WAS COASTING GOING THROUGH THE OFF RAMP TURN WITH BRAKES APPLIED. ENGINE RPM WAS AT LOW IDLE AND THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY AND WITH OUT WARNING STOP WORKING. IT WAS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY AND DRIVE ONTO THE GRASS. IT TOOK AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL AND STAY ON THE AND AVOID CRASHING INTO THE TREES. GMC AND THE NHTSA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. AN INTERMITTENT STEERING ISSUE DEVELOPED WHEREBY STEERING INPUT WOULD BECOME RESTRICTED AND PREVENT THE DRIVER FROM ADDING OR SUBTRACTING STEERING. THE ISSUE PRESENTS DURING TURNING AND CORNERING AND RESULTED IN NUMEROUS HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS AND ONE SERIOUS NEAR MISS. UPON INSPECTION BY A MECHANIC, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOT CLEAR WHETHER THE RACK AND PINION WERE INHERENTLY DEFECTIVE, OR THE CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE OF OTHER STEERING DEFECTS WHICH IS VERY CONCERNING. UPON FURTHER REVIEW, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS MODEL YEAR ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE BEEN PLAGUED WITH DEFECTIVE STEERING ISSUES. GIVEN THE APPARENT INCIDENCE RATE AND THE HIGH RISK NATURE OF THE ISSUE, I AM SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED THIS HAS NOT CULMINATED IN A RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID OVERHEATING PULL OVER. AFTER PULLING OVER A LOCAL SHOP TOWED ME BACK SINCE THE NEAREST GMC DEALER IS 30 MILES AWAY AND THE SNOWY CONDITIONS ARE SAFE TO DRIVE IN WITH A CAR THAT IS ACTING UP. ONCE AT THE SHOP IT IS EVIDENT THE WATER PUMP IS LEAKING AT THE SHAFT SEAL. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ISSUE I WAS UNABLE TO TRANSPORT MY CAR TO A GMC DEALER FOR REPAIR, THUS THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS AGAIN MY RESPONSIBILITY PER GMC "CUSTOMER SERVICE". AT THIS TIME I AM IN DEEP REGRET OF MY PURCHASE OF THIS GMC PRODUCT AND WILL BE WARY WHEN I LOOK TO PURCHASE MY NEXT PRODUCT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE MONITOR TEXT SAYS TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF. THIS IS DONE AND AFTER 30 MINUTES WE ARE ABLE TO TAKE CAR TO LOCAL SHOP, SINCE DEALERSHIP IS 30 MINUTES AWAY IN SNOW CONDITIONS. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP IS ON DUE TO POOR ACCELERATION, ICE DEPOSITS AND OIL DEPOSITS IN AIR INLET DUCT. DUE TO ALL THE OIL AND ICE DEPOSITS ALL SPARK PLUGS ARE REPLACED, BUT I WAS TOLD IF I DON'T REPLACE THE VALVE COVER WHICH ARE THE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR, I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE PLUGS ABOUT EVERY 15K TO 20K MILES. WHEN I TALKED TO GMC CS THEY TOLD ME TO CALL LOCAL DEALER WHICH IN TURN SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE VALVE COVERS AT MY EXPENSE. *TR

ENDED UP COSTING OVER $5,300 TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. AFTER REPAIRS I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS (FROM THE FEW WEBSITES I VISITED..THERE ARE PROBABLY MANY MORE) OF COMPLAINTS BY CONSUMERS WHO OWNED 2008 THROUGH 2011 ACADIAS AS WELL AS OTHER GENERAL MOTOR CORPORATION (GMC) VEHICLES THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE WAVE PLATE FAILING. CALLED GMC AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE THE REPAIR WORK WAS ALREADY DONE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. APPARENTLY FROM READING ALL THE POSTS GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. MY BIGGER ISSUE IS WHAT IF THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AND WE WERE LEFT STRANDED? THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE AND POTENTIALLY PUT LIVES IN DANGER IF TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY OR REMOTE LOCATIONS. GMC SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON VEHICLES WITH THESE TYPES OF TRANSMISSIONS AND REIMBURSE ALL OF US WHO HAD TO SHELL OUT OUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *TR

HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DAUGHTER TO DAYCARE WHEN CAR HAD MULTIPLE DTS CODES APPEARED (STABILITY TRACK, CHECK ENGINE, REDUCED POWER) WITH CAR SUDDENLY STALLING WHILE ON A HIGHWAY LEAVING BARELY ENOUGH TIME TO COAST OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC TRAVELING 60MPH. GMC REFUSED TO ASSIST US ON THIS ISSUE UNTIL WE FOUND ONLINE A TSB ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH HAD BROKEN. DUE TO THE CONSTANT MISFIRING (DIRECT RESULT OF THE TIMING CHAIN) TWO OF MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAME CLOGGED. THOSE HAVE NOW BEEN REPLACED OUT OF MY POCKET HOWEVER WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE HOME WHILE IT DOES RUN SMOOTHER IT NOW MISFIRES ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN NOT GOING UP HILLS AND IDLING VERY LOW AND MISFIRING WHILE IDLING. I AM SCARED THAT WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE THE ISSUE HAS BECOME WORSE. *JS
