DIM LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING NOT WANTING TO STAY ON
ABOUT 4 YEARS I NOTICED MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES WOULD NOT WORK AT NIGHT, FORCING ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON, BLINDING OTHER MOTORISTS. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID IT MAY COST $500 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I COULD NOT AFFORD THIS EXPENDITURE. I TRY TO AVOID DRIVING AT NIGHT AND ONLY RECENTLY I HAD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND AGAIN MY LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT WORK, FORCING ME TO AGAIN DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. MY FIANC DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS FUSE/RELAY. WE LEARNED WE COULD PULL OUT THE HIGH BEAM FUSE/RELAY WHICH IS IDENTICAL TO THE LOW BEAM AND SWITCH THEM. UPON DOING SO, THE LOW BEAMS ONCE AGAIN WORKED.
WHILE DRIVING, LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS WILL TURN OFF WITHOUT WARNING...HIGH BEAM HEADLAMPS STILL FUNCTION
A WHILE BACK, WE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT THAT OUR LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE FLICKERING (LOW BEAMS). IT WOULD DO IT OCCASIONALLY, BUT WE NEVER KNEW WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE HAD THE LIGHTS GO COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING, AND HAD TO TURN THE FOG LAMPS ON TO HAVE HEADLIGHTS OF ANY SORT. TONIGHT, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, AND I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS GOING TO HAVE MY HUSBAND COME OUT AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON IF HE COULD. WHILE I SAT THERE WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND IN PARK, AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES, THEY CAME BACK ON. I HAVE READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LIGHT MODULAR FOR 2006+ ENVOYS, BUT MINE IS A 2005, AND HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HEARD THE RECALL WAS FOR. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THE 2005 TRAILBLAZERS WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT NOT THE ENVOYS????
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING 50MPH ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE A RELAY IN THE FUSE BOX OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE FUSE BOX. I KNOW THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON THE TRAILBLAZER FROM THE SAME YEAR BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME CAR BUT THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE ENVOY.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WITHOUT WARNING. HIGH BEAMS STILL WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN MOVING ON CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. THE NEXT TIME I DRIVE THE CAR THE LOW BEAMS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK.
THE VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT AT NIGHT WILL DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS, I AM A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS THE HEADLIGHT RELAY THAT IS OVERHEATING. THIS IS THE SAME GM PART THAT IS BEING RECALLED IN OTHER GM VEHICLES. GM PART # 15016745. SO WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN RECALLED IN 05 . THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AT RANDOM THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED IT DOES NOT MATTER.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CURVY 2 LANE ROAD IN THE COUNTRY AND THE SUN WAS JUST SETTING AND I COULDN'T GET ANY LIGHTS ON MY CAR. MY LIGHTS ARE AUTOMATIC AND I JUST ASSUMED THAT I HAD BUMPED A BUTTON AND ACCIDENTALLY TURNED THEM OFF, SO I STARTED TURNING THE SWITCH TO TURN THEM ON AND IT WASN'T WORKING. I ALMOST DROVE OFF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET SOME LIGHT ON. I THEN HIT A SECTION WHERE TREE LINED CURVED SECTION THAT WAS PRETTY DARK. THERE HAD BEEN NO SHOULDER OR ANYWHERE TO PULL OVER THERE OR FOR SEVERAL MILES. I COULD GET BIGHTS LIGHTS, BUT NO DIM. I ENDED UP DRIVING WITH MY FOG LIGHTS, UNKNOWINGLY AT THE TIME. WE HAD JUST REPLACE THE BULBS 5 MONTHS BEFORE BUT WE TRIED NEW BULBS AND FUSES TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, IT DIDN'T. I HAVE NOTICED A RECALL ON LIGHTS FOR THE ENVOY YEARS 06-07 FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE THE SAME REASON AND MINE IS AN 05. *TR
LIGHTS GO OFF AND WON'T COME BACK ON FOR 2 HOURS. YOU CAN SMELL SOMETHING BURNING BUT CANNOT FIND WHERE IT IS COMING FROM. I HAVE REPLACED ALL BULBS 3 TIMES. AND NOTHING CHANGES.

THE VERY SAME THING DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V755000, GM SAFETY RECALL 14291, BEGAN HAPPENING TO MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL. MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED OFF AND ON. IN TIME, MY HEADLIGHTS STAYED OFF LONGER AND LONGER. ONLY THE LOW BEAMS AND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE AFFECTED. I COULD FIND NO DISCERNIBLE REASON OR CONNECTION TO ANY ACTION OR SETTING ON THE CAR. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN I AM DRIVING AT NIGHT AND REMAIN OFF FOR MORE THAN A SECOND OR TWO, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, SO I QUIT DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO A GM SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE RAMP, MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER IN AND OUT. AT ONE POINT THE LIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT. AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *TR
ON WAY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 8:00 PM CENTRAL TIME AT NIGHT TO MOTHERS HOUSE AT SPEED OF 45 MPH WHICH IS SPEED LIMIT 55 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS START FLICKERING ON AND OFF. AS I STILL DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING ON AND OFF GOT WORSE AND WORSE. I WAS IMMEDIATELY CONCERN WITH THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THAT I HAD TO STOP AT A STORE TO CHECK THE LIGHTS. LIGHTS AND VEHICLE IS INTACT AND NOTHING SEEM TO CAUSE ANY OBSTRUCTION FOR THE LIGHTS TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. I IMMEDIATELY CAME HOME WHICH I WAS ONLY 15 MILES FROM THE HOUSE. *TR
MY PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER RECALL 14291 BUT MY YEAR ISN'T INCLUDED. DESPITE NUMEROUS BULB REPLACEMENTS AND MECHANIC VISITS, MY VEHICLE'S LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK. I'VE CONTACTED GM, BUT THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION THAT'S AFFORDABLE. I HAVE NO HEADLIGHT OTHER THAN HIGH-BEAMS. PLEASE HELP AND MAKE GM INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM ON ALL THEIR 2005 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES.

THE REAR LIGHT, LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE SNAPPED OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT AS RESULT, BUT VERY EASILY COULD HAVE CREATED ONE. WOULD LIKE FOR GMC TO COVER THE COST TO REPAIR. *TR
OUT OF NOWHERE MY FRONT HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT. ITS NOT THE FUSE OR THE BULBS, BOTH FRONT LOW LIGHTS WENT OUT. THE HIGH BEAMS WORK. THERE IS NO POWER GOING TO THE LIGHTS AND I HAVE TO BUY A NEW SWITCH. THE GAS GAUGE IS BROKEN. THE ABS/BRAKE LIGHT IS ON. I FEEL SO STUCK WITH THIS CAR! *TR

THE HIGH BEAMS IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATE WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHICH DISTRACTS DRIVERS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58000.
