POOR DESIGN OF STEERING COLUMN UPPER SHAFT CAUSED IT TO FAIL EVERY 10,000 MILES.MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF DEFECT. BUT, NO CORRECTIVE ACTION IS AVAILABLE. *AK

VEHICLE IS MISSING THREE PARTS OF THE DIFFERENTIAL ON REAR WHEEL. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. *AK
I HAVE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT 265/75 R16 TIRES ON MY PICK-UP. I AM A DISABLED PERSON AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FIRESTONE TIRES THAT CAME ON MY GMC TRUCK. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE 16" TIRES ALONG WITH THE 15" TIRES WICH FIRESTONE HAS BEEN RECALLING. I URGE YOU TO MAKE FIRESTONE TIRE CO. RECALL THE 16" TIRES ALSO. BECAUSE OF THESE TIRE PROBLEMS I DO NOT FEEL SECURE IN DRIVING ON THESE EXISTING FIRESTONE TIRES. THANK YOU
PE-00-020; ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 2000 GMC, SIERRA, TIRE SIZE P26575R16, DOT # VN73WMA489. TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT. SECOND INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING REPLACEMENT TIRE TREAD CAME OFF. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED MANUFACTURER. TIRES HAD AROUND 16 THOUSANDS MILES OF WEAR ON THEM. *AK
WHEN HITTING A BUMP THERE WAS A VERY LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP.DEALERSHIP'S OPINION WAS THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM A DFECTIVE RING AND PINION IN THE REAR AXLE. OWNER WAS TOLD THAT GMC WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. GMC DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, AND WAS WORKING ON A SOLUTION. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *AK THE FRONT SEAT BELT SQUEAK AND HAS EXCESSIVE TENSION. REAR SEAT LATCH MALFUNCTIONS. UNDER HOOD LIGHT MALFUNCTIONS. *YH
THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT BROKE WHILE BACKING, LEAVING THE TRUCK DISABLED IN DRIVEWAY. NLM
WHEN DRIVING AND SHIFTING GEARS AND PUSHING CLUTCH OR WHEN LETTING UP OF THE ACCLERATOR PEDAL, IDLE DOES NOT RETURN, AND VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AND PICK UP SPEED, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. *AK

BAD VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL AND FROM REAR OF TRUCK FROM 55MPH TO 75MPH HAD RIMS CHANGED DUE TO CHROME PITING DIDN'T FIX PROBLEM. DEALER HAS NO CLUE ON PROBLEM. *AK
THE BRAKES LOCK UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SKID, THE CONSUMER MUST ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO STOP EVEN WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS. NLM

FIRST SET OF TIRES WERE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF ROUND, THE NEW SET HAVE A RUMBLE WHICH SHAKES THE TRUCK, THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL, CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS DENIED (FIRESTONE WILDERNESS P265/75R16 11XS M/S). NLM
NOISE IN REAR SUSPENSION WHILE ACCELERATING AND STOPPING. VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL DURING A RIGHT BEND IN ROAD. ALSO HEADLIGHTS DIM AND GO BACK WHILE DRIVING. *AK
DRIVESHAFT EXPERIENCES THUMPING, THE NOISE CAN BE TEMPORARILY CORRECTED WHEN GREASING THE DRIVESHAFT YOKE OR SPLINE, HOWEVER THE THUMPING DOES COME BACK. *SLC
CLAMP CAME OFF A HOSE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH, CAUSING POWER STEERING FLUID TO LEAK, RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES.*AK

REAR VIEW MIRROR ON PASSENGER'S SIDE HAS A BLIND SPOT DUE TO MIRROR HAVING STRAIGHT GLASS, AND HAS NO PROTECTIVE COVERING WHICH PREVENTS CONSUMER FROM HAVING A CLEAR PICTURE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER NOTED PROBLEM BUT HAD NO SOLUTION TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY SUNROOF DO NOT HAVE INDEPENDENT LIGHTING FOR THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN LIGHTING IS NEEDED IN REAR COMPARTMENT AND ALL LIGHTS MUST BE ILLUMINATED TO ALLOW LIGHTING IN REAR SEAT*AK
THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH TIRES THAT WERE INADEQUATE FOR TRAILER TOWING AND OFF ROAD TRAVEL, THE DEALER REFUSES TO CHANGE THE TIRES BECAUSE THE CONSUMER DID NOT REQUEST THE CHANGE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE (FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT P265/75R16 MAX LOAD 2601 LBS AT 44 PSI, 4 PLY LOAD RATING B). NLM
THE COMPUTER WAS MISADJUSTED CAUSING A HOT/STALL CONDITION. NLM
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAS COME ON AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE DEALER REPORTED AN ASSIGNED REASON FOR THE FAILURE EACH TIME. THEN ON THE LAST OCCURRECE THEY DID NOT EVEN TROUBLE-SHOOT THE FAILURE. INSTEAD THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PROM FOR THE ENGINE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS MY FUEL ECONOMY WENT FOR 12-14 MPG TO 8-9 MPG, THE ENGINE IDLE IS ROUGH (SOMETIMES ALMOST STALLS) AND ON OCCASION THERE IS A FUEL SMELL. AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THESE ITEMS THE DEALER "CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG" GMC HAS REFUSED ALL MY ATTEMPS TO HAVE A REGIONAL SUPPORT MANAGER CONTACT ME. IN ADDITION TO THIS THE FUEL PUMP HAS MADE A LOUD BUZZING NOISE ( YOU CAN HEAR INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH THE WINDOWS UP). THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS "NORMAL".*AK
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES AS NORMAL TO APPROACH A STOP AND DRIVING OVER BUMP BRAKES WILL GO TO FLOOR AND FAIL FOR 2-3 SECONDS, AND THEN EVENUTALLY STOP ABOUT 3 CAR LENTHS LATER. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE CAUSE. 2. FIRST START OF DAY , BACKING OUT AND APPLYING BRAKES BRAKES WILL GRAB HARD , THIS WILL OCCUR ABOUT 3-4 TIMES BEFORE BRAKES WILL WORK NORMALLY. *AK THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NORMAL, BUT THE BRAKES WERE FOUND GOING TO THE FLOOR UPON TEST DRIVING. *YH

ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS IN A CLOSED POSITION, AND THEN IT WILL SUDDENLY TAKE OFF, WHICH CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. DEALER CLAIMS DEFECT IS DUE TO A DIRTY THROTTLE BODY. THROTTLE BODY SHOULD BE CLEANED EVERY 15,000 MILES. CONSUMER IS UPSET BECAUSE THIS INFORMATION IS NOT STATED IN OWNER'S MANUAL.*AK *SLC
CONSUMER CAN NOT GET EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE OUT OF VEHICLE WITH TOOLS THAT ARE PROVIDED BY MANUFACTURER DUE TO A BENT PLASTIC SHAFT THAT WAS BENT DURING ASSEMBLY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
I HAD ONE BLOW-UT, ON THE RIGHT FRONT, AND AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, OF THE REMAINING TIRES, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE ALSO...THE CORE WAS COMING THRU THE SIDEWALL, AND THE 2 REAR TIRES WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF PREMATURE CRACKING IN THE SIDEWALLS. I CONTACTED FIRESTONE ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND THERE REPLY WAS....THE ONLY TIRES AFFECTED, WERE THOSE THAT WERE ON FORD VEHICHLE'S ONLY. I HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH TO SEE THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN MORE WIDESPREAD, THAN THEY HAD ORIGINALLY ANTICIPATED. THAT IS THE REASON FOR MY CONTACTING YOU. ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE, IN GETTING MY REFUND, FOR REPLACING THE TIRES WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.*AK( DOT NUMBER: )

REAR LEAF SPRINGS MAKES NOISE WHEN VEHICLE GOES OVER BUMPS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES. CONTACTED GMC, AND GMC STATED THAT WAS THE WAY VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED.*AK THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES KICKIN WHEN TRYING TO STOP ON BUMPY ROAD AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *YH
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45-50 MPH AND WHEN APPLYING BRAKES WITH FORCE PEDAL TRAVELED TO FLOORBOARD. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
MODEL 6500 GMC TOP KICKS OR KODIAKS HAVE CAUSED EXTREMELY HARD STEERING EFFORTS IN THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY, AND THEN WILL LOCK UP WITH NO WARNING. THEY CHANGED ALL THESE UNITS, AND THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. *YH *JG
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST NHTSA FOR PERMITTING MANY AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS TO UTILIZE SO-CALLED HIGH-BRIGHTNESS ARC-LAMPS ON PASSENGERS VEHICLES. THESE LAMPS CAUSE TEMPORARY BLINDNESS AND UNWARRANTED GLARE FOR OLDER DRIVERS SUCH AS MYSELF. THIS IS AN ESPECIAL PROBLEM WHEN THE ARC-LAMP EQUIPPED VEHICLE COMES OVER A HILL OR HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE POINT SOURCE NATURE OF THESE LAMPS RESULTS IN MUCH LOSS OF VISION IN DARK AREAS WITHIN THE FIELD OF VISION BECAUSE OF SCATTER DUE TO AGE HARDENING OF THE CRYSTALLINE LENSES OF THE EYE STRUCTURE. I AM AN INJURED PARTY ( I BELIEVE THERE ARE MANY THOUSANDS) SINCE THESE LAMPS DIMINISH THE ABILITY TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I RECOMMEND THAT THEY BE OUTLAWED AS A SAFETY HAZARD. I AM A 63 YEAR OLD OPTICAL ENGINEER AND HOPE TO CONTINUE DRIVING FOR MANY MORE YEARS TO COME.*AK

BRAKE LINE ON DRIVERS SIDE REAR RUBBED A HOLE IN THE BLACK HOSE AGAINST STEEL LINE. TRIED TO TIE UP AN SEPERATE BUT ITS TO CLOSE TO T CONNECTION. BOTH REAR FENDERS CRACKED AND BROKE. REAR MAIN SEAL LEAKING OIL.

SPARE TIRE CANNOT BE REMOVED DUE TO THE TIRE PUSHING UP ON THE TUBE THAT THE TOOL GOES INTO FROM THE REAR BUMPER, CAUSING THE TOOL TO BE MISALIGNED WITH THE SPARE TIRE WINCH. CONSUMER STATES BASED ON THE DESCRIPTION IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, EVEN IF PROPERLY ARMED BY FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS, THE CONTENT THEFT - DETERRENT ALARM SYSTEM WILL ONLY SOUND IF THE VEHICLE DOOR IS OPENED FROM WITHIN THE VEHICLE AFTER THE MANUAL LOCK HAS BEEN UTILIZED FROM THE INSIDE. CONSUMER FEELS THAT ACCESS HAS ALREADY BEEN GAINED TO THE INTERIOR AND THEREFORE IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO UNLOCK THE MANUAL LOCK, OR OPEN THE DOOR TO STEAL THE CONTENTS, THEREBY BYPASSING THE ALARM SYSTEM ALTOGETHER. *TT

ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WILL LOSE POWER MOMENTARILY WHEN STRIKING POTHOLES IN THE ROAD. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT'S NORMAL OPERATION. OWNER HAD TO LET HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKES AND DEPRESS PEDAL AGAIN, IMMEDIATELY, TO STOP TRUCK. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS BEEN STICKING INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS. IT TAKES EXTRA EFFORT TO MOVE THE PEDAL FROM THE NEUTRAL (REST) POSITION IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE. THIS CONDITION IS INTERMITTENT. CURRENTLY, THE STICKING IS BARELY NOTICEABLE. OTHER TIMES, IT IS VERY APPARENT. NOTE: I KNOW OF TWO OTHER GMC SIERRA AND CHEVY SILVERADO OWNES AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. BOTH HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM (BOTH ARE YEAR 1999 VEHICLES, ONE 2WD, THE OTHER 4WD). MY VEHICLE IS A 2WD REGUALR CAB SHORT BED PICKUP. MR
