WENT OUT TO THE TRUCK TO GO TO WORK AND THE TRUCK WOULDN'T MOVE. TRANSMISSION LINE LEAKING OUT ALL FLUID. CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACE JUST LIKE THE BRAKE LINES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC 2500HD. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND SPEED SENSOR HAS FAILED. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY PREVIOUSLY AND NOW THE SENSOR HAS FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. DUE TO THE SENSOR FAILURE THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED.THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VIN NUMBER IS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND LOSE POWER ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE THREE DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS THAT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06E043000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) YET THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,828.
BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH OUT TRUCK, FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO RUSTED LINES. *TR
2002 GMC SIERRA PU ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED IN 2005. CLOSE ENCOUNTER WHEN BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE. BRAKES WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. BRAKE FAILURE AGAIN IN 2009 AND PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE REPAIRED. SAME BRAKE FAILURE FOR THIRD TIME. 2010 ANTI-LOCK BRAKES CURRENTLY DISCONNECTED. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUSTED & FAILED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND TRUCK COULD NOT STOP. FORTUNATELY IT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT & NO ONE WAS HURT. THIS WAS A 2002 GMC 1500 EXTENDED CAB PICK UP TRUCK WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2003. IT TURNED OUT ALL BRAKES LINES ARE SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS TRUCK HAD 80,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CAR OF. ALL LINES WERE REPLACED AT CONSIDERABLE COST. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFORE THE INCIDENT. IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AT 60 MPH. I ALSO OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON WHICH NOW APPEARS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND MANY OTHER ANGRY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER CAR I OWNED. SOMEONE COULD GET KILLED!! *TR
LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL ON ICY ROADS. I RECENTLY LOST CONTROL OF MY TRUCK WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45MPH ON AN ICY HIGHWAY IN BOULDER, CO. BECAUSE THE LOSS WAS SO INSTANTANEOUS RESULTING IN THE TRUCK SPINNING 90 DEGREES TO THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL, I QUESTION IF THE LIMITED SLIP FUNCTION WOULD CAUSE POWER TO TRANSFER TO A WHEEL IF IT SUDDENLY HIT DRY PAVEMENT, WHILE THE OTHER WHEEL WAS SPINNING ON ICE, RESULTING IN A SPIN OUT. THIS IS ONLY MY THEORY BUT WITH 57 YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND THE FACT THAT I HAVE HAD WEIRD EXPERIENCES WITH LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS IN THE PAST I THOUGHT MY THEORY MAY HAVE SOME VALIDITY. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE ARE MILLIONS VEHICLES WITH LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS ON THE ROAD AND IF MY THEORY IS VALID, PERHAPS MANY ACCIDENTS ARE BEING CAUSED BY THIS OPTION (WHICH CAME AS PART OF A PACKAGE WHEN I PURCHASED MY TRUCK). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS AND PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, FOLLOWED BY AN ACTIVATION OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT EXTREMELY LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO SEVERE CORROSION IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSOR. THERE WAS A PRIOR RECALL REPAIR UNDER NHTSA 07E106000 (WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB). HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO CORRECT THE SAFETY RELATED DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 02/18/10
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS FUEL INJECTORS HAVE FAILED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE INJECTORS WERE BAD AND FIVE OUT OF EIGHT ARE LEAKING FUEL WHICH HAVE A HIGH RETURN FUEL RATE. THERE ARE NO RELATED RECALLS OR WARRANTIES. THE CONTACT WAS DENIED THE WARRANTY COVERAGE THAT IS 7 YEARS 200,000 MILES FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,386.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN, SHE WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE STEERING COLUMN. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE POWER STEERING GEAR BOX REPLACED . THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,596. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,483.
I HAVE A 2002 GMC SIERRA Z71 4X4 TRUCK, REGULAR CAB WITH AN 8 FOOT BED. IT HAS 75000 MILES. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS BOTH OF THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES STICK OPEN A LITTLE AFTER YOU PULL THE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND GET IN. NOW WHEN YOU PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR, OR START MOVING THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN YOU STOP AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. NOW SINCE THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IS STUCK SLIGHTLY OPEN THE DOOR WON'T UNLOCK OR OPEN WITH THE INSIDE HANDLE, YOU HAVE TO REACH OUTSIDE PUSH THE HANDLE IN THEN YOU CAN UNLOCK AND OPEN THE DOOR. I HAVE ELECTRIC WINDOWS, AND HAVE TO PUT THEM DOWN TO RESET THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. MY CONCERN IS, IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, AND MY WINDOWS WERE UP, AND MY BATTERY WAS DAMAGED, AND THE TRUCK LOST ELECTRICAL POWER I CAN'T OPEN THE WINDOWS TO RESET THE HANDLE, SO THAT I CAN GET OUT? NOW I'M TRAPPED IN THE TRUCK!! *TR
I HAVE A 2002 GMC SIERRA 2500 DIESEL. I HAVE A HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LINES ROTTING OUT. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 84000 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEK MY FAMILY AND I WHERE OUT DRIVING AND THE BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AT AND THROUGH A RED LIGHT. I PULLED OVER SAFELY AND INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND FOUND YET ANOTHER BRAKE LINE RUPTURED.. *TR
ABS SENSOR IN FRONT WHEEL HUB DEVELOPS RUST, ACTIVATING THE ABS SYSTEM EVERY TIME BRAKE IS APPLIED. OCCURS EVERYTIME BRAKE IS APPLIED AND VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT SENSOR, AS GM PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
WHEEL SPEED SENSORS CORRODED, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES MALFUNCTION AT LOW SPEED.*TR
ON OR ABOUT NOVEMBER 12 THE BRAKES ON MY 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP TRUCK FAILED SUDDENLY WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND I PASSED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, BEING UNABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A HALT IN THE DISTANCE AVAILABLE. WHILE THE INTERSECTION WAS CLEAR, AND NO ACCIDENT RESULTED, MY VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED. A LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THE BRAKELINE HAD FAILED - EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE LESS THAN 32,000 ON THE VEHICLE. HE SAID HE HAD SEEN SEVERAL FAILURES ON VEHICLES OF SIMILAR VINTAGE AND LIGHT SERVICE. REPAIRS COST OVER $900. GMC ASSUMED NO LIABILITY. *TR
BRAKE LINES ON 2002 GMC 2500 RUSTED NEEDED REPLACEMENT. *TR
MY ANTILOCKING BRAKES HAVE BEEN ACTIVATING DURING SLOW TURNING STOPS AND I AM NOT ABLE TO STOP. I RAN OVER A CURVE PULLING INTO A PACKING LOT. I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR PULLING INTO THE GAS STATION. I CALLED THE GM DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THIS HAS NOT BEEN UNDER A RECALL. SO I DISCONNECTED THE ANTILOCKING BRAKES AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS GONE. AND GOOD THING I DID BECAUSE THAT SAME DAY I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND DID NOT SEE AN ONCOMING CAR BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE IT'S LIGHT ON (DUSK) AND I HAD TO STOP FAST WHILE TURNING. IF I DID NOT DISCONNECT THE ANTILOCK I WOULD HAVE COASTED IT TO THE ON COMING CAR. GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKAGE ON THE REAR BUMPER OF HIS VEHICLE. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE INCREASED THE RISK FOR A FIRE HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY IN WHICH A MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 81000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A FEW MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER FIVE ATTEMPTS AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWELVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,798. BRAKE LINES FROM MASTER CYLINDER TO ABS UNIT FAILED DUE TO RUST ON MY 2002 GMC SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 35,000 MILES ON IT. HAVE NOT DRIVEN NOR CAN I SAFELY DRIVE TRUCK SINCE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. HAVEN NOT REPAIRED AS OF YET AS I AM EXPLORING MY OPTIONS. *TR
* 3-MAY-06: VEHICLE TAKEN IN TO DEALER AT 29 K MI FOR RECALL TO INSPECT BOTH FRONT WHEEL ABS SPEED SENSORS. TOTAL INSPECTION TIME APPROX 10 MIN, NO REPAIRS MADE. ONE POSSIBLE BRAKING INCIDENT OCCURRED 3.5 YRS EARLIER. * 24-SEP-08, 38 K MI: FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED, NORMAL WEAR PATTERNS. BOTH REAR INNER DISK BRAKE PADS WORN TO METAL AND JAMMED, BOTH REAR OUTER PADS LITTLE WEAR, BOTH REAR DISKS HEAVILY SCORED AND REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN USED LITTLE FOR TOWING. REAR CALIPER NUTS REQUIRED AN ESTIMATED 350+ LBS TORQUE TO LOOSEN. * 31-JUL-09, 39 K MI: NEAR ACCIDENT ON HWY AT LOW SPEED AFTER VERY LONG STOP AT SLOW SPEED, THEN 3 MI LATER CRASH INTO CONCRETE ABUTMENT OCCURRED WHILE PARKING AT IDLE SPEED. LOUD GROANING HEARD FR ENGINE COMPARTMENT. SCAN TOOL INFO BY GM DEALER INDICATED BOTH FRONT ABS SPEED SENSORS WERE NOT SENDING A SIGNAL. BODY REPAIR TO FRONT $800 USING USED PARTS AND EXCLUDING ABS SENSOR REPLACEMENT. * NEAR TOTAL, REPRODUCIBLE BRAKE LOSS OCCURS BETWEEN APPROX 3 AND 7 MPH. PRESSING HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS TO LENGTHEN THE STOPPING DISTANCE. HEADLAMPS DIM WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT SLOW SPEED WHILE THE ABS PUMP IS GROANING. * PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE CORRECTED. *TR
2002 GMC SIERRA 2500HD 6.0L 4X4. THE 6.0L ENGINE IS KNOCKING CONSTANTLY, AND FROM DOING SOME RESEARCH. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. DEALER SAID IT IS NORMAL! SINCE WHEN IS AN ENGINE KNOCKING, NORMAL? *TR
ABS TRIGGERS FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO MY 2002 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. I'M TOLD THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF A RECALL DUE T CORROSION OF AN ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, BUT NO DEALER WILL SPEAK TO ME. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE THAT TIME, ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE TRUCK HAS STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION. AFTER REVIEWING THE RECALL INFORMATION AND CALLING GM AND OUR DEALERSHIP, NO OPEN RECALLS APPLY TO THE TRUCK. THEY WILL OF COURSE BE HAPPY TO CHARGE US AND MINIMUM OF $101.00 AND MORE TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. IF THIS IS A RECALL, WHY DOES IT NOT APPLY? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE BRAKING POWER ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BRAKE SYSTEM BLED AND THE PADS REPLACED YET THE REPAIRS ONLY RESOLVED THE FAILURE TEMPORARY AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. MY ISSUE WITH MY 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500 REGULAR CAB LONG BED IS RELATED TO AN ABS WHEEL SENSOR RECALL. I HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED IN DEC 2005 FOR THE RECALL PROBLEM. THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM IS CORROSION AT THE ABS WHEEL SENSOR WHICH CAUSES THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM TO ACTIVATE AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN STOPPING WHICH IN TURN INCREASES THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CANNOT BE NEGLECTED. I HAD GONE TO THE BOB ROSS BUICK/GMC DEALERSHIP IN CENTERVILLE, OH ON 4/30/2009 ' ORIGINAL DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. THEY PERFORMED AN INSPECTION FOR $64.95 PLUS TAX AND 10% SHOP SUPPLIES CHARGE. THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY SERVICED FOR THE RECALL, THAT I AM NOT COVERED TO RE-REPAIR/REWORK THE TRUCK FOR THE RECURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND WORKED WITH A REPRESENTATIVE NAMED AL AND THEN AFTER HE SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME FROM GM CORPORATE I WAS CONNECTED TO GM DISTRICT SPECIALIST DONALD HOWELL (1-800-790-5700 X41958). DONALD ALSO EVENTUALLY SAID THAT GM WOULD NOT HELP WITH GETTING THE WORK PERFORMED. THE SERVICE REQUEST # FOR MY CASE IS 71-758818423. MY REQUIREMENT FOR RESOLUTION IS THAT GM REPAIRS THE ISSUE AT NO COST TO ME, MOST PREFERABLY BY REPLACING THE ABS WHEEL SENSORS WITH NEW ONES LESS LIKELY TO CORRODE. I'M SURE THAT THE NEW PRODUCT DESIGN HAS THE CORROSION ISSUE IN MIND AND HAS FOUND A WAY TO AVOID IT. AS THE REPAIR HISTORY OF MY VEHICLE SHOULD STATE, THE ABS WHEEL SENSORS WERE CLEANED AND THEN SPRAY PAINTED WITH A 'CORROSION RESISTANT PAINT' TO FIX THE ISSUE IN DEC 2005. AS AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER WHO WORKED FOR GM/DELPHI FOR 14 YEARS OF MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER, I KNOW THAT WHAT WAS PERFORMED PREVIOUSLY IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX. I ALSO AM WILLING TO BET THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER WITH RECURRENCE OF THIS ISSUE. HAD IT BEEN FIXED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME ' WITH NEW ABS SENSORS - THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAVE RECURRED. I SHOULD ALSO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $76.46 I HAD TO SPEND FOR DIAGNOSIS. *TR
TRUCK WAS STALLING MAYBE THREE TIMES A YEAR APPROX. 3 YEARS AGO. DOESN'T REGISTER ANY CODES. APPROX. 1 MONTH AGO STARTED STALLING DAILY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE SWERVED FROM SIDE TO SIDE TWICE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE GM MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND STATED THAT HE HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE CONTACT REFUSED TO DO SO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
GMC 2002 SIERRA ABS TRIGGERED AT LOW SPEED. UNABLE TO STOP WITHIN REASONABLE DISTANCE. HAPPENING 90% OF THE TIME NO LONGER ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. NO CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN YET. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2002 GMC SIERRA DENALI IN SEPT 2002 NEW FROM A LOCAL DEALER. I AM THE PRIMARY DRIVER AND DO NOT ABUSE THE VEHICLE. I KEEP ALL THE SERVICE WORK UP ON IT THRU THE SELLING DEALER. THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE IS THAT THE QUDARSTEER CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT AND I CALLED GM FOR A SERVICE REQUEST. GM SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME WITH THE SELLING DEALER TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED OUT MY TRUCK AND TOLD ME THAT THE QUDRASTEER MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. THEY GOT ON THEIRE COMPUTER AND TRIED TO LOCATE A STEERING MODULE. BELIVE IT OR NOT THERE ISN'T ONE IN THE UNITED STATES. GM DOSEN'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE THEY HAVE BEEN DISCONTUINED. GM PRODUCED THIS TRUCK UNTILL 2005, I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY HAD TO SUPPLY PARTS FOR VEHICLES THAT THEY MADE FOR AT LEAST 10 YR'S I AM NOW STUCK WITH A TRUCK WITH 50,285 MILES ON IT AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER NOT TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT WOULD WEAR UOT MY TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP DISABLED THE QUDRASTEER BUT WHEN I DRIVE IT I HAVE TO KEEP THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE RT ABOUT A QUARTER TURN. IT DRIVES LIKE A VEHICLE WITH A CENTER BOLT BROKEN IN THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MY RECORSE IS WITH GM. I CANNOT PUT ANOTHER REAR END IN IT FROM ANOTHER TRUCK BECAUSE THE DENALI'S REAR END IS 5 1/2" WIDER THAN A RUGULAR PU. I THINK GM SHOULD BE MADE TO START MAKING THE PARTS THAT THESE TRUCK'S NEED. I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM. ALL GM IS DOING FOR ME IS GIVING ME A LIST OF WEB SITES TO LOOK UP AND TRY TO FIND THE PART MYSELF. THERE ARE NONE!!!!!! MSRP ON THE TRUCK WAS $43,000. THE QUDRASTEER OPTION WAS $4,000. I DON'T THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PARK MY TRUCK BECAUSE GM DOSEN'S WANT TO MAKE THE PART ANYMORE!!!!!! THE QUDRASTEER WENT OUT IN NOVENBER 2008, I STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE TO CHECK MY MAIL AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN MY TRUCK AND STARTED IT THE SERVICE FOUR WHEEL STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. OUR 2002 SIERRA 3500 GMC PICKUP TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH AN 8.1L V8 ENGINE AND THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAUSES THE TRUCK'S ENGINE TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE ENGINE TO FAIL COMPLETELY. WHEN THE ENGINE OPERATES INTERMITTENTLY, THE MESSAGE LIGHT ILLUMINATES 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER' AND THE VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH AND ULTIMATELY STALLS. THE ENGINE MAY RE-START IMMEDIATELY OR AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. BECAUSE THIS SENSOR HAS FAILED ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (70 MPH) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE (OR SOMEONE ELSE) WERE NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. BECAUSE NHTSA RECALLED THE 2001 GMC SUVS/TRUCKS THAT HAD THIS DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND BECAUSE THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER 2002 SUVS/TRUCKS THAT ARE ALSO HAVING THEIR ENGINES FAIL DUE TO THIS SAME DEFECT, THE NHTSA SHOULD IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATE HAVING GMC RECALL THE 2002 MODELS AS WELL. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS LISTED ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE THAT DEAL WITH THIS SAME ISSUE (E.G., COMPLAINT NUMBERS 10038110, 10009727, 1009569, 10009556, 10001480, 10054217, 10069780, ETC.) THAT ARE IDENTIFIED UNDER VARIOUS 2002 GMC MODELS (I.E., SIERRA, GMC TRUCK, C SERIES). ADDITIONALLY, SINCE CONSUMERS FREQUENTLY PURCHASE GMC TRUCKS WITH THE 8.1L V8 ENGINE TO TOW LARGE TRAILERS, THIS SITUATION CAN CREATE A SERIOUS HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAYS THAT NHTSA MUST ADDRESS EXPEDITIOUSLY. THUS, SINCE WE ARE A CONSUMER THAT PURCHASED OUR TRUCK TO TOW A LARGE TRAILER AND OUR TRUCK HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR OUT-OF-POCKET. *TR

HEARD NOISE WHEN TOWING TRAILER AND I STOP. A BRIEF INSPECTION OF THE RECEIVER HITCH INSTALLED ON VEHICLE SHOWED BROKEN WELDS AND TEARING METAL DUE TO THE BROKEN WELDS. I CALLED GMC TO REPORT SAFETY ISSUE AND HAVE REPAIRED. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY HITCHES IN STOCK AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I TOLD THEM THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS PROBLEM WITH NO RESPONSE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT NOT A WEAR OR ABUSE ISSUE AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT INCLUDING A FATALITY. I HAVE THE CASE # THAT I WAS GIVEN BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. UNDER THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS THE BODY HAS RUSTED THROUGH. THIS IS THE ONLY SPOT ON THE ENTIRE TRUCK THAT HAS RUST. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THAT I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IT FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT HAD 103,000 MILES IN IT THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP. *TR

THE ABS AND BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED DUE TO RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC 1500. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES WERE RUSTED VERY BADLY. THE REAR BRAKES WERE RUSTED AS WELL, BUT NOT AS BADLY AS THE FRONT BRAKES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSUME LIABILITY FOR THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FLEETWOOD ELKHORN. THE VEHICLE HAS A DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR, MODEL RM3663. WHILE ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO WARM UP, THE CONTACT HEARD THE FURNACE AND ENTERED THE TRAILER TO TURN IT OFF. WHEN HE EXITED THE TRAILER, HE NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE ACCESS DOOR AND SMOKE UNDERNEATH THE REFRIGERATOR. THE ENTIRE TRAILER BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND WAS DESTROYED ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS HANDS AND SMOKE INHALATION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE PART NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BEGAN TO ACTIVATE IN NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO TREMBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION OF THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, WHICH CAUSED THE ABS TO ACTIVATE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND NO REIMBURSEMENT WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,289.

THE SPARE TIRE HOIST FAILED CAUSING MY SPARE TIRE TO FALL OFF. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE ROAD IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATALITY TO ANYONE BEHIND ME. THE CABLE APPEARS TO BE THE SAME MATERIAL THAT THE TAILGATE CABLES WERE MADE OF. THE CABLES WERE ALREADY RECALLED BY GM. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK). A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT THEY WOULD ONLY ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING THE RELUCTOR RING. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE HUB ASSEMBLY REPAIR AT THE COST OF $800. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND IS STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,500.

STARTED MY VEHICLE SO COULD MOVE IT IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T MOVE AND I HAD VERY LIMITED BRAKING POWER.
