HI I HAVE A 2008 GMC SIERRA THAT IS ON THE AIRBAG RECALL LIST, MY TRUCK IS NOW 12 YEARS OLD AND NO REMEDY I LIVE IN HAWAII WHERE IT GETS HOT AND HUMID. WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG FOR A FIX? "TAKATA RECALL" CHECKED TODAY WITH WILSON COUNTY MOTORS IN LEBANON, TN AND THEY STILL HAVE NO REMEDY FOR REPLACING AIRBAGS FOR THIS VEHICLE. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
I'VE RECEIVED MULTIPLE RECALL NOTICES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS AND HAVE GONE IN TO THE LOCAL GMC DEALER AS DIRECTED. LAST VISIT 11/03/2017. THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AND CAN'T HELP IN ANY WAY. GM TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY AND BLAMES TAKATA. NOW WITH TAKATA'S BANKRUPTCY THE CONSUMER IS SCREWED!
"TAKATA RECALL" RECALL 49152. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT , SEVERAL TIMES, W/ GMC ABOUT THE RECALL SINCE RECEIVING THE LETTER IN EARLY 2016. WHEREAS WE HAVE YET TO EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK, IT IS APPROACHING 10 YEARS OLD AND WE ARE AFRAID IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. WE DONT WANT TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF RUPTURE. TODAY WE WERE TOLD THAT A DECISION IS TO BE MADE BY THE END OF DEC. 2017 THAT MAY RELIEVE GMC OF THIS BURDEN ALTOGETHER WHICH WE FIND COMPLETELY UNSATISFACTORY. WE WOULD LIKE THIS REPLACED AS IT IS THE RIGHT AND SAFE THING TO DO & AT GMC'S EXPENSE. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO BESIDES SALE/TRADE IT IN, ONLY TO PASS THE PROBLEM ON TO SOMEONE ELSE? THANK YOU
TAKATA RECALL: THERE WAS AN INDICATION ON THE TAKATA SITE THAT THE TRUCK SHOULD BE TAKEN IN FOR A REPLACEMENT OF AIRBAGS, BUT ACCORDING TO THE GM DEALER THERE WAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME AND THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE BY GM.
AIRBAG RECALL ISSUED MAY 2016, DEALER (MEDVED CASTLE ROCK, CO) INDICATES 16 MONTHS LATER (NOVEMBER 2017) THAT IT STILL DOES NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE COURTESY OF GM. THIS IS 3RD CALL TO DEALER TO FIX THIS CRITICAL RECALL.

TAKATA IS GOING BANKRUPT. REPAIRS MUST BE DONE BY DEC. 27, 2017. WHEN I CONTACT THE DEALER THEY TELL ME THERE ARE NO PARTS RELEASE BY TAKATA TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE.
CALLED DON DAVIS LAKE JACKSON IN AUGUST ABOUT RECALL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED AN CONCUSSION AND INJURIES TO THE NECK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE AREA FOR THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 195,000. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL CALLED PRINCE CHEVROLET IN ALBANY GEORGIA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE AIR BAG THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED.I HAVE NOT BEEN HURT NOR HAS AIR BAG BEEN DEPLOYED, JUST WANT THE AIR BAG REPLACED.

WIRE BROKE GOING TO THE SIDE IMPACT SENSOR FOR THE AIR BAG CAUSING IT TO BE INOPERABLE. WIRE WAS IN THE LOOM FOR THE DRIVERS DOOR WIRING HARNESS
AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AND HAS BEEN ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR SHOWING A FAULTY AIRBAG AND TWO CALLS WITH CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP TO REMEDY THE AIRBAG(S) TO MAKE FOR A SAFE RIDE HAVE GONE UNCOMPLETED STAYING NO RESOLUTION HAS BEEN MADE. THIS IS AN ONGOING SAFETY RECALL THAT SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY GM FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND TO THIS POINT HAS REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THE AIRBAG MANUFACTURER IS STATING THAT THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF DETERIORATION OF THE AIRBAG AND SUDDEN DEPLOYMENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY TO DEATH.

TAKATA RECALL WE GOT THE TRUCK 5/23/2015 WE RECEIVED THE RECALL ON THE AIR BAGS FEW MONTHS LATER WE TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER SHIP ON06/2/2017 THEY TOLD US THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO FIX IT BUT THEY ARE THE ONES THAT TOLD US TO BRING IT IN SO WE GOT HOME I CALLED THE RECALL NUMBER THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PLACE IS FIGHTING TO NOT FIX IT
THE PANELS OVER THE REAR WHEELS ARE BOTH RUSTING THROUGH. BUBBLES ON THE PAINT AS IT RUST TO THE SURFACE. TRUCK IS NOT DRIVEN DURING WINTER SNOW MONTHS IT STAYS IN GARAGE OVER THE WINTER MONTHS. SURPRISED IT WOULD RUST THROUGH ALREADY. IS THERE ANY BODY WARRANTY FOR RUST BEFORE 10 YEARS?
HERE ARE HUGE CRACKS ON MY DASH!! I'M AFRAID IF THE AIR BAG COMES OUT IT WILL BUST THE DASH IN PIECES AND THERE'S NO TELLING WHERE IT MAY HIT! THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES AND IT'S INSANE THAT Y'ALL NOT GM WILL ADDRESS THE ISSUE

"GMC DASH RECALL" MY 2008 GMC SIERRA DASH IS CRACKING AND I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON GOOGLE AND IT LOOKS LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME. THE DASH IS CRACKED IN SUCH A WAY THAT AT A CERTAIN ANGLE I CAN SEE WIRES EXPOSED FROM THE AIRBAG COVER. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL TO FIX THE CRACKED DASH.
LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE BURNED 5 QUARTS OF OIL IN UNDER 3000 MILES. 105K MILES ON 5.3 LITER V8. DEALER SAID TYPICAL FOR THIS ENGINE TO HAVE CARBON BUILDUP AND NEEDS NEW PISTON RINGS AND PISTONS. ALSO DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACED AND WINDOW SWITCHES.

A LIGHT FLICKERS ON OCCASION THAT LOOKS LIKE A AIRBAG WARNING. IT DOES NOT STAY ON LONG OR OFTEN.
THIS VEHICLE WAS ACQUIRED IN MARCH, 2016 WITH AN INTACT DASHBOARD, 142,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. OVER THE LAST 9 MONTHS MULTIPLE, PENETRATING CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED IN THE TOP OF THE PLASTIC DASHBOARD DUE TO CAUSE(S) UNKNOWN. THIS HAS GREATLY DIMINISHED THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE DASHBOARD TO THE POINT THAT AT LEAST ONE TOP PIECE OF THE DASHBOARD IS LOOSE DUE TO THE CRACKS. TWO CRACKS ARE IN THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD TOP AND ONE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. CURRENT MILES ON THE ODOMETER ARE 146,000. IN THE EVENT OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT DURING A CRASH, THE LIKELIHOOD IS VERY HIGH THAT PLASTIC FROM THE DASHBOARD COULD FRACTURE, BECOME AIRBORNE, AND RESULT IN INJURY TO OCCUPANT(S) OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO EITHER THE NORMAL DEPLOYMENT VELOCITY OF THE TAKATA PASSENGER AIRBAG, OR WORSE YET IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR FAILS TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED AND ACTIVATES WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO RECALL NHSTA #16V381, ISSUED 5/27/2016 FOR DEFECTIVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATORS. FURTHER, THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE OPERATING LIFE IN THE "ZONE A" HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY REGION (FLORIDA). IN AND OF ITSELF, THE CRACKING DASHBOARD PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD DURING A CRASH WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. HOWEVER, COMBINED WITH CONDITIONS RECORDED IN RECALL 16V381, I MAINTAIN THIS COMBINED HAZARD PRESENTS AN UNACCEPTABLE LIFE SAFETY RISK. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT THE NHTSA IMMEDIATELY INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE OF THE NOTED DASHBOARD CRACKS ON BOTH GM AND GMC GMT900 TRUCK PRODUCTS, AND FURTHER RECOMMEND THAT A RECALL ACTION BE SUGGESTED TO GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION ON GMT900 VEHICLES REGISTERED IN "ZONE A" TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS. AS OF THIS DATE GM HAS NOT COMPLETED THE RECALL ACTION UNDER NHSTA #16V381 ON MY VEHICLE, THEREFORE THE ACCENTUATED HAZARD REMAINS UNABATED.

DASHBOARD CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. THE PASSENGER SIDE CRACKED ON THE PORTION COVERING THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I AM WORRIED THAT IF INFLATED, THE PLASTIC SHARDS WILL IMPALE ANY PASSENGER. ALSO THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ON THE DRIVER SIDE ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. IT IS BEGINNING TO CAVE IT.
