AROUND 50K THE SIDE DETECTION WARNING SYSTEM AND PARK ASSIST QUIT WORKING. UPON TAKING IT IN FOR REPAIRS WE FIND THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AT A SHORTAGE..DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF REPAIRS. WE CALLED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY STATE THERE IS NO RECALL AND OUR REPAIR WILL BE OVER $1000 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR PRACTICE SINCE THEY ARE AWARE THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
POWER LIFT GATE FALLING - ONLY STAYS OPEN FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PENSKE BUICK GMC OF CERRITOS (18400 STUDEBAKER RD, CERRITOS, CA 90703, (877) 886-6265) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,328.
THE VEHICLE CONSUMES OIL AT A RATE MUCH HIGHER THAN "NORMAL". BETWEEN MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE INTERVAL THE VEHICLE WILL CONSUME 40-50% OF THE ENGINES OIL CAPACITY. THIS IS DETERMINED TO NOT BE OUT OF SPECIFICATION IN REGARDS TO ISSUED SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT IS NOT "NORMAL" OR STATED AS OPERATING AS DESIGNED BY THE GMC OPERATION MANUAL/DOCUMENTATION. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE RELATED TO IGNITION AND TIMING WHEREAS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RUN/START/OR STALLS(CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ISSUES). SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE SAME VEHICLE INDICATED EXCESSIVE WEAR ON TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLIES(WHICH CAN LEAD TO TIMING ISSUES) AS A RESULT OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND UNDERGOING MULTIPLE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WHICH REVEALED OIL USAGE AT A RATE OF .4 - .5 QUARTS PER 1,500 MILES, IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR COVERAGE UNDER THE ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE PREVENTED THE RADIO, FUEL GAUGE, AND OTHER COMPONENTS FROM WORKING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AUTO ZONE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT NO FAILURE CODES WERE PRODUCED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KOCOUREK GMC (1500 MORNING GLORY LN, WAUSAU, WI 54401) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY REGULAR PRICE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THERE WAS ONE UNRELATED RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY CAR SINCE DAY ONE STEERING WHEELS LOCKS UP CONSTANTLY, THE BRAKES DO NOT STOP YOU THE WORST IS THE ENGINES BATTERY WHICH IS LOCATED UNDER THE SEAT CONSTANTLY SAYS I HAVE NO POWER IT WILL TURN ON SEVERAL CODES AND THE START IDLING THE RPMS GO UP LIKE YOUR PRESS G THE GAS BUT YOU NOT THEN YOU STALL YOU CAN BE GOING 70 OR 20 MPH AND IT WILL JUST STALL WITH NO WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL AND I LOSE TRACTION IN REGULAR ROADS IN PERFECT WEATHER. I CAN'T SEEM TO LOCATE MY AIRBAGS I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICES A MILLION TIMES THEY ALWAYS SAY NOTHING IS WRONG ALSO WHEN THE RPMS OR GOING UP.AND DOWN I LOSE ALL HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT NIGHT SO MANY TIMES. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALMOST KILLED ME SO MANY TIMES I LOST COUNT I TAKE IT TO SERVICE THERE IS NEVER AN ISSUE. I'M PROBABLY GOING TO END UP IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT SOON THE BRAKE PEDAL STICKS AND I CAN'T PRESS IT DOWN I HAD TO PULL INTO GRASS ONE TIME TO AVOID A CAR.
THE VEHICLE HAS A HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION. EVERY 1K MILES IT CONSUMES ABOUT 1QT. I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY MONTH. I SEE A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINT OVER THE INTERNET REGARDING THE GMC TERRAIN 2010-2013 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FROM FACTORY. GM RELEASED A BULLETIN BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. USING OIL IN EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS , ABOUT 1QUART EVERY 1500 MILES , CAR IS NOT TELLING ME WHEN OIL IS LOW AND THEN THE MOTOR STARTS TO RATTLE. THIS HAS BEEN BAD FOR A LONG TIME BUT NOW GETTING WORSE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEARING SLIGHT LEFT, MY VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. I THE MESSAGE SCREEN READ, " SERVICE POWER STEERING", AND THE CENTER CONSOLE INTERACTIVE SCREEN WENT COMPLETELY BLACK. THIS LASTED NO MORE THAN 3-5SEC. EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO SIGN OF ANYTHING LEAKING FROM UNDER MY VEHICLE AS I INSPECTED IN LATER IN THE EVENING.
THE CAR CONSUMES OIL SO MUCH YOU WILL STALL OUT DUE TO SENSORS PRESSURE DEFECT WITH THE EXHAUST. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY TRYING TO FIX, KEEP OIL IN IT. IT'S NOT SAFE. IT TAKES A FULL QUART NOW EVERY 500 TO 700 MILES AND MY CAR HAS 116K. IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE 2 YEARS I BOUGHT IT. THE STALLING OUT WITH CHECK ENGINE INDICATES CAMSHAFT SENSOR BUT YOUR JUST LOW ON OIL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT'S WIFE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TAKATA RECALL. WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT ON 05/12/2017 WHERE SOMEONE HIT US HEAD ON AT 50 MPH. WE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL, AND LATER DISCOVERED THE TAKATA AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS, WITH THE FRONT END CRASHED IN, FRAME WAS BENT, AND THE BATTERY WAS SPLIT IN HALF FROM THE SPEED OF THE IMPACT. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT STARTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AND THE GLASS SHATTERED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DASHBORD SEPARATING DOWN THE CENTER. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE DASHBOARD FLAPS. THIS IS A DEFAULT ISSUE WITH THE COMPANY. ALSO, CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WITH DISMANTLE CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY HARM.
2013 GMC TERRAIN WITH 119,000 MILES HAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GMC, CHEV AND BUICKS. THERE WAS A TSB ISSUED 13-06-01-003F. IN 2014, GM WAS FIXING ALL VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY, UNFORTUNATELY MINE DID NOT OCCURE UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I HAD CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 5,000 TO 7,000 MILES USING THE SYNTHETIC BLEND RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN TRYING TO START MY VEHICLE, ALL CHECK ENGINE, LIGHTS, ETC CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO POWER SHUT DOWN MODE, WHICH LUCKILY MY VEHICLE WASN'T MOVING. TAILGATE DOES NOT STAY OPEN. SLOWLY CLOSES. STARTED HAPPENING 3/1/2017. HAPPENS WHENEVER I OPEN REAR TAILGATE FOR ACCESS.

1 YEAR AGO I WAS DRIVING IN TORRENTIAL RAIN AND MY WIPERS STOPPED GIVING ME ZERO VISIBILITY DOING 60 IN THE FAST LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD AND LAND IN A DITCH. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. I COMPLAINED TO GMC BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. I TOOK TO DEALER AND HAD WIPER BALL JOINT REPLACED AND WIPERS. YESTERDAY, 1 YEAR AND 2 MONTHS ALMOST TO THE DAY- MY WIPERS GAVE OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN AND HAIL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND AM DISGUSTED WITH GMC'S RESPONSE TO THIS DEADLY MISFUNCTION.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS, MY 2013 GMC TERRAIN'S WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECAME IMMEDIATELY INOPERABLE WITH NO WARNING. THE WIPERS WENT OFF THE SIDE OF THE CAR & IMMEDIATELY PUT MYSELF & CHILDREN IN DANGER. I WAS IN THE LEFT PASSING LANE & IMMEDIATELY PUT MY HAZARDS ON & OPENED THE WINDOW TRYING TO LOOK OUT BECAUSE IT'S WAS EVENING TRAFFIC COMMUTE TIME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IN A VERY UNSAFE LOCATION PUTTING MYSELF & CHILDREN AT RISK, BUT HAD NO CHOICE DUE TO THE HIGH TRAFFIC VOLUME & CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION BARRIERS ON BOTH SIDES. I CAME HOME & GOOGLED WHAT THE ISSUE CAN BE, ONLY TO FIND THERE IS A RECALL BUT THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR THIS AT THE PRESENT TIME. THE RECALL IS 2013 VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD/WIPER WASHER:MOTOR. NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 16V582000 (SUMMARY: GENERAL MOTORS LLC (GM) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN VEHICLES. IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE BALL JOINTS IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE MAY CORRODE AND WEAR OVER TIME, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN ONE OR BOTH OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECOMING INOPERATIVE. CONSEQUENCE: INOPERATIVE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MAY REDUCE THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. ACTIONS: THE REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16C582000 (VISIBILITY/WIPER). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN ON A HIGHWAY, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING & I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID A CRASH. HAD THE WIPERS INSPECTED AT GMC FACILITY & WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I ONLY HAVE 77,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR

The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. THE HATCH BACK DOOR THAT LEFTS UP BY A TOUCH OF A BUTTON CAME CRASHING DOWN ON MY HEAD WHILE PUTTING IN THE GROCERIES. THE NEXT TIME IT CAME DOWN ON MY FINGERS. ALSO CAME DOWN ON MY DAUGHTERS BACK. ALL THE TIME WITHOUT WARNING. IT LEFTS UP JUST FINE BUT IT COMES CRASHING DOWN AT ANY TIME. I TOOK IT TO GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED THAT THE OIL WAS LIKING FROM THE LEFT SIDE TERRAIN LIFT GATE TAILGATE HATCH-ACTUATOR 23432304. PART NUMBER 23432304 FOR 2013 GMC TERRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT NIGHT ON HIGHWAY 95 IN A STORM WHEN BOTH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING, FROZEN IN AN UPWARD FASHION. THE WIPER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WENT OFF THE WINDSHIELD ALL TOGETHER. I HAD TO THEN MOVE THE CAR OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC, WHILE BEING UNABLE TO SEE, SAFELY TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE WIPERS OF THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS NOT YET BEEN REMEDIED. RECALL #: 25302.
TAKATA RECALL HI I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2013 GMC TERRAIN AT A DEALERSHIP SINCE NOVEMBER 15. THEY WERE TAKING CARE OF SOME BODY DAMAGE IT HAD. AND WHEN IT WAS DONE THEY SAID I CANT TAKE THE TERRAIN HOME BECAUSE IT HAS A RECALL AND THEY CANT GET ANY RPLATES FOR IT. HONESTLY I HAVNT EVEN TEST DRIVE IT. I DONT THINK ITS FAIR TO PURCHASE A CAR AND CANT TAKE IT HOME UNTILL GOD KNOWS WHEN. STILL TODAY THERES NO REMEDY. THE WINDOW WIPERS HAVE STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN WITH MY FAMILY. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND PUT THE BALL JOINT BACK IN THE SOCKET. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON HIGHWAY RT. 3 GOING APPROXIMATELY 52 MILES PER HOUR. IT WAS RAINING VERY HARD AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOP WORKING. I ALMOST RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, WHEN I PUT ON BRAKES MY VEHICLE SLIDE OFF OF THE ROAD. THE CAR BEHIND ME CUT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IN THE NEXT LANE AND HE ALMOST CRASHED. THIS WAS REGARDING A RECALL OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS THAT GMC SENT ME EARLIER THIS MONTH. I CALLED THEM AND THEY STATED THAT IT IS NOT A COMPLETE RECALL AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING IT FIXED. I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET, IF I WANT MY VEHICLE REPAIRED.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING, CANNOT DRIVE IN THE RAIN. RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT A RECALL. (CAMPAIGN ID 16V582) CALLED GMC'S HOME OFFICE AS WELL AS TWO DEALERSHIPS AND AM BEING TOLD BECAUSE THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM YET, I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE DONE AND THEN WAIT TO BE REIMBURSED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE RECALL HAS BEEN REMEDIED, WHICH ONE DEALER SAID COULD TAKE YEARS. I AM A SINGLE GUY LIVING ON MY OWN AND MY INCOME IS VERY TIGHT FROM MONTH TO MONTH, AND I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR DUE TO FAULTY CRAFTSMANSHIP BY GMC. ALSO, I'M BEING LIED TO BY THESE DEALERS FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE GMC REP TOLD ME THAT A TEMPORARY FIX WOULD COST $70-$140, EVERY DEALER IS QUOTING ME $400+ AND I SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD THAT, I FEEL THAT THIS IS ABSURD AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED WITH NO COST OUT OF MY POCKET.
