I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT DUE TO GOING OUT AND NOW THE LEFT ONE HAS WENT OUT. THESE ARE VERY EXPENSIVE LIGHTS. THEY ARE FAULTY AND NEED TO BE RECALLED.
VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND JERK UPON ACCELERATION AT 30K. DEALERSHIP CHANGED FLUID. AT 60K VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHUDDER AND JERK UPON ACCELERATION AND LURCH FORWARD OR BACKWARD ALTHOUGH BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. INITIAL, BRIEF DIAGNOSES REVEALS A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS ISSUE WAS NOTED IN 4 TSB. TSB ID #PIP5337K, TSB ID #PIP5337F, TSB ID #16-NA-014, AND TSB ID #PIP5337H. NOW THAT MY FACTORY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, GM MAINTAINS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM-- ALTHOUGH THEY SAW IT WHILE COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A CURRENT CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WITH GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE SHUDDERING, SHAKING, JERKING AND HESITATION IS RELATED TO INTERNAL ISSUES WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION AND/OR TORQUE CONVERTER CAUSING FRICTION SURFACES, HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS, AND GEARS TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND RESULTING IN METAL SHAVINGS BEING CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE TRANSMISSION. OVER TIME, DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER OCCURS. CONSUMERS FACE ESCALATING REPAIRS THAT CAN INCLUDE FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION OF METAL SHAVINGS CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION OPERATION, AND WHICH EVENTUALLY NECESSITATE THE REPLACEMENT OF COMPONENTS SUCH AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER, VALVE BODY, OR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. AS SUCH, THE TRANSMISSION DEFECT ENDANGERS THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLES, AND DIMINISHES THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLES. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT METAL SHAVINGS DUE TO FRICITON COULD HAVE PASSED THROUGH THE SYSTEM CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE BUT WILL NOT REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION FOR FULL AND THROROUGH DIAGNOSES.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN SEPT 2020 MY ONSTAR MODULE FAILED. STARTED NOTICING WATER IN THE DRIVER FLOORBOARD. THE SHARK FIN ANTENNA IS LEAKING, CAUSING MAJOR ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND SHORTAGES. NO GPS, ONSTAR WON'T WORK. THESE FINS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED PROPERLY.
THE REAR TAIL LAMPS SPORADICALLY WOULD LIGHT UP WITH DRIVING LIGHTS FOR AWHILE, BUT COULD NEVER GET FAILURE TO SHOW UP FOR DEALER DIAGNOSIS. FINALLY LIGHTS WENT OUT COMPLETELY EXCEPT FOR SIDE MARKER. WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK, CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. DEALER WAS THEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SHORT IN LED LIGHT CIRCUIT BOARD ASSEMBLIES HAS GONE BAD AND BOTH LIGHTS WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT. LAMPS WERE REPLACED UNDER 80/20 WARRANTY OFFER. TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST TO ME/CONSUMER: $492.75. I FEEL THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE ON NEWER MODEL VEHICLE AND LIGHTS SERVICE LIFE SHOULD BE MUCH LONGER THAN 4 YEARS. ESPECIALLY SINCE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE FOR 4 WEEKS BECAUSE OF CONCERN WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS, NO REAR LIGHTS AT DARK AND CHANCE OF BEING STOPPED FOR A TRAFFIC INFRACTION.
ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE IN A DRIVE THRU LINE, I WOULD PRESS THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO BASICALLY STAND UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS HAPPEN OTHER THAN AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. I SEARCHED GMC YUKON FOR ANY RECALLS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECALL WITH GMC. WHEN YOU DO A SEARCH OF MY VEHICLE BY VIN, IT STATES NO RECALLS ARE FOUND. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GMC DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS MY VIN SHOWS THE ACTIVE RECALL.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AND ON WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN. WHEN REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT THE TRUCKS STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF AND EVERYTHING SHUT OFF OFF THEN ON THEN OFF AND ON AGAIN. WHEN REVERSING IT DID IT TWICE MORE. TURNING TO GET OUT OF A CAR WASH CURVE IT SHUT OFF AND ON. TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY IT SHUT OFF AND ON (ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS)
The contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shake and vibrate. The cause of the failure was not determined. Also, the driver and passenger side retractable running boards would erroneously retract back and forth while driving, and on several occasions, while attempting to exit the vehicle the running board remained retracted causing the driver to fall to the ground and causing injuries to the driver's legs. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 60,000.
CAR KEEPS RUNNING ROUGH, STUTTERING WHEN SWITCHING OFF, SMELLS LIKE GAS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF EVERY OTHER DAY. STARTED AFTER FUEL INJECTOR RECALL, DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S THE FUEL PUMP LEAKING AND UNRELATED TO THE FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CHANGED THE GASKETS AND THE LINES WHEN FIXING THE INJECTORS. IT'S A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WITH DIRECT INJECTORS.
RIGHT REAR LED TAILLIGHT IS INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORKING. NOT SURE WHY IT WORKS AT TIMES, AND NOT AT OTHER TIMES, BUT WHEN THE TAILLIGHT IS NOT WORKING NEITHER IS THAT BRAKE LIGHT. THIS STARTED ABOUT AUGUST 1, 2020.
THE PASSENGER SIDE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SENSOR NOT WORKING BECAUSE THE SENSOR CAME DETACHED FROM REAR BUMPER FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND NOW IS JUST DANGLING. NEEDS TO BE WELDED BACK ON THE BUMPER.
FAULTY TAIL LIGHTS. TAIL LIGHT DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY STAY LIT. THIS FAULTY LIGHT IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT
THE LED BRAKE LIGHT STOPPED WORKING DUE TO FAULTY CIRCUIT.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE OIL CHANGE AND BATTERY REPLACEMENT ON 6/29/20 AND THEY TOLD ME BY RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF LEAK. I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS LEAKING. THEY SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLES OF MY TYPE. MY VEHICLE HAD 56434 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. IT WAS $1204.82 PLUS TAX TO REPLACE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 GMC YUKON . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN A RED LIGHT AND T-BONED HER VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT AND THE PASSENGER BOTH SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AN AMBULANCE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A HERNIATED DISC, A CERVICAL NECK STRAIN, AND RIGHT SHOULDER AND NECK PAIN. THE PASSENGER ALSO SUSTAINED A CERVICAL NECK STRAIN AS WELL AS INJURIES TO HER NECK. THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE OTHER DRIVER WERE UNKNOWN. A POLICE WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD; HOWEVER HER INSURANCE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER TOW YARD FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO BODY SHOP TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE COULD BE SALVAGED; HOWEVER,THEY DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. MASTER BUICK GMC(3710 WASHINGTON RD, AUGUSTA, GA 30907) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE AND THEY REFERRED HER BACK TO HER INSURANCE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. INVALID VIN.
YUKON HAS 27,855 MILES ON IT AND THE FUEL INJECTORS HAVE GONE BAD AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. IDLES ROUGH AND WHEN ACCELERATING THE YUKON JOLTS. COST IS $2,200 DEALER IN CHANTILLY VA. CHECK ENGINE STATES THAT THE VEHICLE MISFIRES BASED ON DEALER'S DIAGNOSTIC. NO WARRANTY TO COVER THE VEHICLE. OTHER COMPLAINTS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYSTEMATIC FAILURES OF THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THERE IS BACK LOG FOR THE PART. NOT SURE HOW A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE FUEL INJECTORS WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. OTHERWISE THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. *TR
VEHICLE HAVING ISSUES WITH JERKING AND ACCELERATION WHILE IN MOTION HAPPENED TO VEHICLE IN ALL SETTINS HIGHWAY STREET HILLS FLAT SURFACE ROADS AND TURNING. TOOK VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED NOTIFIED BY GMC DEALER THAT TORQUE CONVERTER CRUMBLING INSIDE OF 2016-2017 YUKON RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION DUE TO CRUMBLING AND ISSUES CAUSED BY CRUMBLING . CRUMBLING NOT FROM ACCIDENT OR WEAR OR TEAR IN VEHICLE OPERATIONS IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW/MANUFACTURER DEFECT. GMC WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ISSUE OR FAILURE. ONLINE RESEARCHED PROVIDED SHOWS MULTIPLE FAILURES OF THIS ISSUE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACEMENT PART $500 NEW TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IS $5634.00 CONTACTED GMC HEADQUARTERS, CUSTOMER SERVICE AN DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESOLUTION. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO PROVIDE DOCUMENTS UNTIL I PAY FOR REPAIRS.ORIGINAL ESTIMATE COST OF $5634.00 NOW ESCALATED TO 6300.00 FOR A REPLACEMENT PART THAT COST APPROX $500. UNETHICAL, PREDATORY, UNFAIR. *TR
2016 YUKON DENALI, BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS MALFUNCTION WITH ON 78K MILES. I CAN'T AFFORD NEW BRAKE LIGHTS AS THEY ARE MANUFACTURER ONLY AND $800 A POP. I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER ANY OF THESE EXPENSES AT ANOTHER 3K, AND THE DEALER TELLS ME HEADLIGHTS, TAIL-LIGHTS ARE NOT COVERED. I SHOULD HAVE RESEARCHED BETTER, OR WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT A VEHICLE WITH ANY LED LIGHTS. *TR
TAIL LIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS /SIGNAL LIGHTS GO ON AND GO OFF DANGER OF BEING HIT FROM THE REAR DEALER AND INDEPENDENT SERVICE HAS CONFIRMED DEFECT AND SAY IT IS COMMON VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BE THE POLICE OR INSURANCE THERE WAS NO WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES FIRST DISCOVER 2 YEARS AGO WHEN DRIVERS WOULD PULL UP AND SAY THE LIGHTS WERE OUT......WE WOULD STOP AND LOOK THEY WOULD COME BACK ON
DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WENT OUT, WHEN YOU PULL THE LIGHT OUT IT STARTS TO WORK, REPLACE THE LIGHT BACK INTO THE CAR AND IT DIES AGAIN. THIS SEEM TO BE A ISSUES WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE. ITS VERY COSTLY TO HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING LED TAIL LIGHTS! *TR
AFTER REFUELING MY YUKON, PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE YUKON'S RPM GAGE STARTED JUMPING UP AND UPON ACCELERATING, THE YUKON WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE YUKON IN 'M' GEAR AND SLOWLY DRIVE ANOTHER MILE BEFORE I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE YUKON AT ALL. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. *TR
MY LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK AND I HAD MULTIPLE PEOPLE TELLING ME MY LEFT BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT. THEN OTHER DAYS I WAS TOLD IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. NOW IT IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. *TR
REAR PASSENGER SIDE RED LED LIGHT DOESN'T WORK. HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WHICH IS A LOT OF MONEY. *TR
MY PASSENGER SIDE TAILLIGHT WORKS SOMETIMES, AND OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT TO FIND OUT A REPLACEMENT IS 800.00 AS THE TAILLIGHT NEEDS TO COMPLETELY BE REPLACED NOT JUST A BULB. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL VEHICLES LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE ALSO READ MANY OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN STATED AT DEALERSHIP THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALL. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A RECALL ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY GM. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT IS OUT AND COULD POTENTIALLY BE HAZARDOUS WHEN OPERATING VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND A LAW THAT EVERY MOTOR VEHICLE SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH AT LEAST TWO WORKING TAIL LAMPS. GM HAS MANUFACTURED INADEQUATE AND FAULTY PARTS THAT ONE DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE LAW THAT VEHICLES SHOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH AT LEAST 2 WORKING TAIL LAMP AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HARM TO THE CUSTOMERS WHOSE VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED CONCERN BUT GM HAS FAILED TO FIND RESOLUTION FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. THE PRODUCT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND WILL ONLY BE REPLACED BY GM UNDER SPECIAL COVERAGE WHICH HAS EXPIRED IN MOST 2015-2016 VEHICLES. DEFECTIVE PARTS NEED TO BE RE-CALLED FOR THE 2015-2016 YUKON VEHICLES AND REPLACED BY PRODUCTS THAT ARE SAFER AND NON HAZARDOUS TO CUSTOMERS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
TAILLIGHT ON DRIVERS SIDE GOES OUT. IT'S BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE AS IT COMES ON AND GOES OUT. *TR
The contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the brake pedal was hard to depress and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal needed to be pumped in order for the vehicle to be operated. In addition, the contact stated the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line needed to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The contact mentioned while the mechanic was reversing the vehicle the brakes failed to operate causing the vehicle to crash into a person and a vehicle. The contact stated that the lady sustained multiple injuries that needed medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where they informed the contact that the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 54,000.
BOTH OF MY LED TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLIES HAVE FAILED OVER THE PAS YEAR. GMC HAS REPLACED THAT OEM WITH NEW PARTS AND HAS MD THE OLD PARTS. GENERALLY, IF A BREAK LIGHT FAILS YOU CAN REPLACE THE BULB FOR AROUND $5 BUT WHEN THESE ASSEMBLIES FAIL IT COSTS THE OWNER AROUND $700 TO REPLACE. DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS IS A TRAFFIC VIOLATION. A CAR CAN NOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS SO THE OWNER IS FORCED TO PAY THE MONEY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART FROM WHICH GMC PROFITS.. WHY IS THIS NOT A SAFETY RECALL? GMC KNOWS IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS A RESULT.WHAT IS THE NHTSA STAND ON THIS?
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD AND ROOF HAVE LOST THEIR LUSTER. ACCORDING TO A GMC COLLISION CENTER (SHEEHAN CADILLAC COLLISION CENTER, POMPANO BEACH, FL) THE ISSUE IS VERY COMMON ON DARK COLOR VEHICLES AND IT IS EVEN HAPPENING TO THE ESCALADE. WAS QUOTED $5,195.30 TO REPAIR AND GM INDICATES THEY WILL ONLY COVER 30% OF THE AMOUNT. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED AT SHEEHAN BUICK/GMC.EVEN CONTACTED THE GM CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND WOULD NOT BUDGE.
PASSENGER TAILLIGHT, RUNNING LIGHT/BRAKE LIGHT LED STRIP NOT WORKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TAILLAMPS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE ONE SET OF TAILLAMP AND BRAKE LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SECOND SET WAS ALSO REPLACED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. THE CONTACT CALLED WIESNER BUICK GMC LOCATED AT (1645 INTERSTATE 45 N, CONROE, TX 77304) AND NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM. THERE IS POOR MANUFACTURING WHICH HAS CAUSED THIS CHRONIC FAILURE. CAN NOT REPLACE THE BULB, YOU MUST REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY A POLICE OFFICER THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR TAILLAMP WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EDWARDS MOTORS LOCATED AT (1825 VETERANS PKWY S, MOULTRIE, GA 31788), WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR TAILLAMP ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,200.
The contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the vehicle was initially repaired under warranty for a bent push rod in cylinder #4; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired another time at the expense of the contact's son, who previously owned the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while idling and while driving, the engine was misfiring and running rough. Additionally, there was a significant amount of smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the repair would not be covered because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
BRAKE LIGHT TAILLIGHTS INTERMITTENT TURNS ON AND OFF
THE BRAKE LIGHT IS OUT. ALL OTHER LIGHTS ARE WORKING, BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL THING FOR THE GMC. I CAN NOT JUST CHANGE A BULB, THEY SAID I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT KIT FOR A $850.
BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ALMOST WAS PLOWED INTO BY 18 WHEELER ON I-75. DRIVER WAVED US OVER AND INFORMED US THAT HE DID NOT SEE US TILL RIGHT ON TOP OF US. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE SYSTEMIC ENOUGH THAT THE GMC SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD US THAT IT WAS COMMON ENOUGH THAT THEY KEPT THE BRAKE LIGHTS IN STOCK. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE NUMEROUS THREADS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND EVEN UTUBE VIDEOS ON WHERE TO REMOVE MATERIAL TO ACCESS THE OFFENDING CIRCUIT BOARD TO REPAIR THE KNOWN FAULTY CIRCUIT. THE FAILURE OF THESE BRAKE LIGHTS COULD HAVE COST MY FAMILY AND ME OUR LIVES. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE 1600$ TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I REITERATE THE BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE IS COMMON ENOUGH THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS THREADS ON THE INTERNET TO DISCUSS THE KNOWN WEAKNESS OF THE CIRCUIT BOARD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHICH SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED IN REGARDS TO THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COVERT BUICK GMC (11750 RESEARCH BLVD, STE D, AUSTIN, TX 78759, (512) 371-6075) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURES OR ISSUES FOUND WITH THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. THE DEALER DISREGARDED THE LETTER AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ISSUE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO HER CUSTODY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE FORMER DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME DEALER DECLINED THE PURCHASE OF THE PART NEEDED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,655.
BOTH HEAD LAMPS HAVE MOISTURE AND IT IS HARD TO SEE THE ROAD. I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT WILL NOT COVER LENSES. NO WARRANTY WILL. EVENTUALLY THE MOISTURE WILL HARD THE LED AND HID COMPONENTS AND THEY WILL NOT WORK AT ALL CAUSING A HAZARD TO MY FAMILY AND OTHERS. MY CAR HAS 37000 MILES ON IT AND IS GARAGE KEPT. THESE LAMPS ARE OVER $2000.00 TO REPLACE.
THIS CAN BE RESEARCHED BY HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE. POOR DESIGN CAUSES THE METAL TO BREAK INSIDE THE LED REAR TAIL LIGHTS WHICH MAKES THEM INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5724166813. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE SHORTING OUT CAUSING THEM TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. CIRCUIT IS BROKEN INSIDE THE SEALED PORTION OF THE LIGHT PREVENTING REPAIR.
REAR LED TAILLIGHT WENT OUT OUR ONLY 3 YEAR OLD 2016 GMC DENALI. THIS EFFECTS THE STOP, TAIL, AND TURN LIGHTS. THESE LED LIGHTS ARE NOT REPAIRABLE AND THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED. GM CHARGES AN ASTRONOMICAL PRICE OF AROUND $700 FOR EACH SIDE. IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND ANY USED ONES AND ACCORDING TO PART DEALERS GM HAS A 'BOUNTY' ON ANY USED ONES TO TURN BACK IN. OBVIOUSLY GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT AS NOT ONLY AS GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS BUT IT'S REALLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL.
THE TAIL LIGHT STOPPED WORKING AND CANNOT CHANGE OUT THE LED BULBS, IT IS A BREAK SOME WHERE THE THE WIRING.
2016 GMC YUKON TAIL LIGHT NOT WORKING. STARTED NOT WORKING FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN WORKED AGAIN AND THEN QUIT COMPLETELY.
MY COMPLAINT RELATES TO A KNOWN DEFECT IN 2015-18 GMC YUKON (AND SIMILAR GM MODELS) AND DEFECTIVE BRAKE LIGHTS. THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT IN MY 2016 GMC YUKON WENT OUT IN APPROX EARLY 2019. IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. IN NOVEMBER 2019, BY RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE EARLY BROKEN LIGHT. I HAD LESS THAN 36,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I LEASED THE VEHICLE IN APPROX SEPT 2016 AND THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PAST (LESS THAN 75 DAYS) EXPIRATION OF THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY. SO, THE DEALER QUOTED ME $950+/- DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOUSING. THE DEALER REP EXPLAINED THAT THE ENTIRE HOUSING HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LED AND DIDN'T USE A BULB. THE DEALER REP TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I WAS INCENSED AND REFUSED TO PAY. I WENT HOME AND GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS PERVASIVE WITH THE 2015-18 YUKON AND OTHER SIMILAR GM PRODUCTS. I ALSO FOUND A FIX THAT WAS MUCH LESS MONEY ONLY REQUIRED ABOUT 2 HOURS OF MY TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT AND, BASED ON THE DEALER REP COMMENT AND GOOGLE RESEARCH, IT IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,400.
AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP WHEN GETTING THE BRAKE RECALL UPDATED WITHIN 48HRS MY TRANSMISSION STARTS SHUDDERING! NEVER HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM UNTIL THE RECALL WAS UPDATED! WAS TOLD THERE IS ONLY A FLUID FLUSHING AVAILABLE FOR THE 8CYL TRANSMISSION NOT THE 6CYL! WAS TOLD THAT I WAS OUT OF MY POWER TRAIN AT 82K MILES AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THE TOURQUE CONVERTER OR BY A NEW TRANSMISSION! PLUS WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TILL AFTER JANUARY 2020 BECAUSE THEY ARE BACKED UP FROM OTHER VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME ISSUES! THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THE 8CYL BUT NOTHING FOR THE 6! WHY? I LOVE MY CAR AND YOU WOULD THINK AT 70K IT WOULD BE MORE RELIABLE AND GM WOULD BACK THEIR PRODUCT! I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MAKERS OF GM AND WITH THE ISSUES I'M LOOKING AT WITH NO RELIEF IN SIGHT I WOULD BE BETTER OFF TRADING FOR A FORD OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN GM!
