There are 5 owner-reported driver assist & adas complaints for the 2023 Honda Accord Hybridin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
From the beginning of my lease, the vehicle experienced repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensor systems, including warning alerts and sensor-related failures. The vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair. Despite these repeated service visits, the safety sensor issues were never properly repaired or resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle was subject to an active safety recall, which was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle was serviced at the dealership on multiple occasions. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. Based on the unresolved sensor failures and the undisclosed recall, I believe these safety defects may have contributed to the accident. This complaint is submitted to report a serious safety concern and to request that NHTSA investigate whether similar vehicles may present a broader safety risk.
this vehicle upon heavy rain/downpours the vehicle foward collision sensors may activate and cause sudden dangrous and potentially life threatening braking. one day it was raining very bad i was alone on the road going about 45 mph. the storm caused a really bad downpours and the car suddenly braked hard with no reason whatsoever. it only happens when it rains severely. im not the only person who has experianced this. people on the facebook 2023 honda accord hybrid page has had the same issue. this system needs to be updated before it takes someones life. it is unsafe to drive this vehicle under heavy rains due to the automatic braking system kicking on due to being overwhelmed by heavy rains.
I experienced 8 separate malfunctions in the CMBS in 2 days. The systems problems still persists. And it is obvious that Honda is aware of the problem since nothing has changed in 10 years according to reports of the first incidences of the CMBS failures. I drove on the NAFTA super highway which is congested with semi-trucks. As described in the owners manual pg 413 it is obvious there is 1)radio waves interruptions, the car shutters just as the rear of the cab is approached, mostly like the transponders location, 3 occurances this trip but many more in the past 6 months since I purchased the vehicle. 2)Reflection from a trailer pallet bundle wrapped in clear plastic, it was obvious the glare from headlights created a reflection and caused the system to shutter the brakes and flash the BRAKE sign. 3) while driving into a curve with yellow reflective arrows caused the brakes to shutter. 4)in a dangerous construction zone while driving in the right lane against large white concrete barrier, the reflection created a sudden brake shutter. 5)Today, while driving in the rain through a neighborhood street, testing the cruise control at 27mph the brakes shuttered at a puddle reflection. I just got home from the Dealership who has no answers or solutions. And is very aware of the problem. Which in itself sounds unscrupulous. Paying all this money for a safety problem that could easily cause an accident.
While driving I received a message stating the automatic emergency braking, steering assist, lane keeping assist, braking assist, hill hold, adaptive cruise control all we turned off. Additionally regenerative braking was also turned off. This system problem did not clear after the car turned off and back on. The dealership addressed the issue, but unsure of the cause. All codes were cleared and the system was recalibrated. This is the first incident of this type with this vehicle.
