WHILE DRIVING, THE CRANKSHAFT/PULLEY ENGINE BROKE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL OUT. ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.*AK CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT A BOLT INSIDE THE ENGINE WAS MISSING, AND SOME PART OF THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE WHICH CAUSED THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY TO BREAK (ALL PART OUTSIDE ENGINE).*SCC
VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT MUTIPLE SPEEDS. VEHICLE HASBEEN TO DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS, AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING. *AK. CONSUMER STATED THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL, AND THE DEALER STATED THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE TO RECONNECT THE ALARM.*JB *DT
THE KNOCKING NOISE WAS THERE SINCE A FEW MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR.THE DEALER SAID THAT'S NORMAL WITH NEW HONDAS B/C THE GEARS . HAD BROKEN-IN, BENEFIT OF A DOUBT. BUT AFTER THAT THE KNOCKING HAPPENED MO RE OFTEN I BECAME SUSPICIOUS AND ASKED A FRIEND WITH A 4CYL '99 ACCORDLX HE SAID THAT HE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM. MINE WAS AN EXV6 TOP OF THE LINE THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. AND THE LAST TIME I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY HEARD IT AT LEAST ONCE BUT THAY SAID THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT ON DEMAND SO THEY CAN'T PINPOINT WH AT'S CAUSING IT. THIS SHOULD'VE BEEN FIXED A LONG TIME AGO BY THE DEALER. BRAKES AND STEERING DID NOT WORK, CAR FROZE,CAUSING ME TO GO OFF THE ROAD: REPAIR MECH ANIC SAID,'TIMING BELT". MAINTENANCE WAS DONE 2 MO. PRIOR AT DEALER. THE DEALER SERVICE STATION SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED THE TIMING BELT. EVEN SO THE CAR SHOULD NO T FREEZE B/C OF A TIMING BELT- BRAKES AND STEERING ARE VITAL TO A VEHICLES SAFET Y WITHOUT THESE AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS ARE JUST CUSHIONS FOR ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN. MANUFACTURERS SHOULD FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM TO PREVENT CRASHES INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON CRASH SAFETY. I LOST A CAR BUT I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE FROM THIS H ORRIFYING ORDEAL. I WANT AT LEAST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE CAR FROM EITHER THE MANU FACTURER OR THE DEALER.*AK
AT 35MPH HEAD ON COLLISION OCCURRED, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK

WHEN REAR SEATBELT STARTS TO RETRACT, IT WILL CAUSE SEATBELT TO UNLOCK, CAUSING CHILD SEAT TO BE UNSECURE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT HE TRIED TO GET SERVICE PER WARRANTY, HOWEVER THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THE CENTER REAR BELT WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS AND REFUSED SERVICE. *SCC

THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE THERMOSTAT, BRAKES, ENGINE LIGHT WAS INTERMITTENT, OVERHEATING, SQUEALING WHILE DRIVING, THE WINDSHIELD MOLDING AT THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF THE WINDOW, THUMPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING, MAINTENANCE LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED, THE ABS LIGHT WAS INTERMITTENT, AND THE TIRES WERE REPLACED EARLY. TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN LOWER GEARS. ALSO LURCHES FORWARD UPON ACCELERATION IN ALL GEARS. THIS LURCHING IS OFTEN QUITE SEVERE CAUSING THE CAR TO SWERVE WHICH IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. *AK
CONSUMER STATES OF HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HER TRANSMISION,CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS METTER ON 2000 AND 2001 VEHICLES ALREADY.DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *MR
RECALL ON IGNITION SWITCH/STEERING COLUMN CASE STEERING COLUMN HAD GROOVE MARKS FROM STEERING WHEEL IGNITION SWITCHED REPLACED / STEERING COLUMN CASE REPLACED SINCE THEN THE HORN DOESN'T BLOW ALL THE TIME WHEN BLOWN. I ALSO REPORTED THIS TO THE STATE POLICE HERE IN BATON ROUGE, LA. *JB

WHILE DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TS *NLM
HONDA ACCORD 99', TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 60,000 MILES. OTHER YEARS (98) HAVE HAD WARRANTY EXTENDED DUE TO DESIGN FAILURE, BUT NOT THE 99. 99 SHOULD BE INCLUDED! *JB
SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DASHBOARD CLOCK LIGHT WENT OUT, FOLLOWED BY THE AC ADAPTER. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER THE ADAPTER WENT OUT (WORKING SPURATICALLY) THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER LOCKS STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND/OR THE DOOR IS OPENED. I ALSO HAVE A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COME ON WHEN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AND IN MOTION, THE CAR SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY SHUTS OFF. IT HAPPENS AFTER SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR WHEN COMING TO A STOP. FOR EXAMPLE, ILL BE IN 3RD GEAR (OR ANY GEAR FOR THAT MATTER) AND I HAVE TO STOP AND THEREFORE I SHIFT OUT OF GEAR AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS. ONE TIME, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE CAR TURNING OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 4-6 TIMES. IT STARTED EARLY IN 2002 AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. IN 2003 THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 4 TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE MAROONE HONDA DEALER (BECAUSE I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THEM) TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, THE TECHNICIANS SAY THEY CANT FIGURE IT OUT AND THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE IF ANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND/OR IF A REMEDY IS KNOWN. YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.
CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AT 60-65 MPH, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, NO BRAKING ACTION. THIS RESULTED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION, NO INJURIES, VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED.*AK

INTER LOCK FAILED, CAUSING THE KEY TO COME OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH WITHOUT VEHICLE BEING PARKED. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE ROLLED ACROSS A PARKING LOT CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK *MR
HONDA HAS A WARRANTY REPLACEMENT ON 2000/2001 MODELS AND NOT ON THE 1999 MODEL. THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ON THE 2000 AND 2001 MODEL. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THE 1999. WHAT CAN NHTSA DO? DT
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THE ACCELERATOR STICKS IN THE IDLE POSITION. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN GEAR, THE ACCELERATOR WON'T MOVE UNLESS USING EXTREME FORCE, THEN IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD OR BACKWARD IF IN REVERSE. THE PROBLEM WAS MOMENTARILY FIXED BY LUBRICATING THE THROTTLE BODY BUT AFTER 15 TO 20,000 MILES PROBLEM REAPPEARS. *JG
RETURNED TO CAR TO FIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN THE FULLY RECLINED POSITION. IT IS APPARANT THAT THE SEAT/SHOULDER BELT WILL HANG UP ON THE ADJUSTING LEVER OF THE SEAT AND CAUSE IT TO RECLINE OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MINUTES. THE DEALER SHIP WAS TOLD OF THIS ON MARCH 20, 2002. THEY SAID, "THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BELT IS TWISTED." THE INVOICE,NUMBER HOCS256282 STATED THE SEAT BELT WAS UNTWISTED, ON MARCH 22, 2002, I FOUND THE SEAT FULLY RECLINED AGAIN.*AK
I BROKE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT TO A STORE. I FELT THE PEDAL PULSATING AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I ENDED UP INTO THE SHOP BRAKING ALL THE GLASS WINDOWS.*AK (TIRESIZE: 205/65 /15)
THE DRIVER SEAT GOT LOOSE SUDDENLY AND TILTED BACKWARD WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LOWER TRACK BRACKET. *YH
THE HONDA 2000 COUPE EX IS ALSO DISPLAYING THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE DRIVER SEATBELT. *AK
THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING AND PULLING VIOLENTLY FORWARD. TWICE HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED THE SECOND DRUM WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PROBLEM CAUSING THE CATYLIC CONVERTER TO GO OUT. THE PROBLEM WAS PARTIALLY CORRECTED BY A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*JB
HONDA DID HELP WITHTHE OUT OF WARRANTY EXPENSE BUT I MY REPAIR COMBINED EXCEEDED ALMOST 1600.00 BETWEEN THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR GARAGE AND THE HONDA DEALER FOR A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD PURCHASED NEW. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHUT OFF. AFTER TAKING VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP, TECHNICIAN TOLD CONSUMER THAT TRANSMISSION WENT BAD, AND THAT WAS THE REASON VEHICLE SHUT OFF.*AK

AS I LEFT THE AIRPORT PARKING MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT TO 60 MILES AND MY BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR. IT CAUSED ME TO GO THROUGH A RED LIGHT I WAS AFRAID TO SHUT IT OFF FOR FEAR IT WOULD ROLL ON ME SO I PUT THE CAR IN N THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING AND RACING LIKE A RACE CAR THEN IT SLOWED AND I WAS ABLE TO USE THE BRAKE, BUT WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR WENT RIGHT UP TO 45 I HAD ABOUT 15 MILES FROM HOME TO ALL THE WAY HOME IT STAYED AT 45 UNLESS I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES, THIS HAPPEN AT 2:00AM.*AK
AFTER THE IGNITION SWITCH REPAIR (RECALL # 02V120000) WAS PERFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE DEFECT RECURRED. **JB *TS
STOPPED AT A TRAIN CROSSING,I SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE TO CLOSE A 15 FT GAP FROM THE CAR AHEAD. MY CAR IMMEDIATELY WENT OUT OF CONTROLACCELERATING ON ITS OWNI PRESSED THE BRAKE & THREW IT INTO PARK BUT CRASHED INTO UTILITY POLE.*AK
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMES HARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. WHEN THE CONSUMER TRIES TO ACCELERATE AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *MR *NLM
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER HAS PROBLEM ACCELERATING. AFTER CONTACTING DEALER, DEALER NOTED THAT THERE IS A BUILD UP OF CARBON IN THROTTLE BODY.*AK CONSUMER STATES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE ACCELERATOR IT WILL STICK, CAUSING CONSUMER TO PRESS HARDER ON THE GAS TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FOWARD OR IN REVERSE, WHICH THEN CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FOWARD AT TIMES.*JB
JUST PRIOR TO A CELLULAR PHONE RINGING, THE CAR MAKES CLICKING AND BUZZING NOISES WHICH SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASH IN THE AREA OF THE FUSE BOX. ONCE THE CELL PHONE IS ANSWERED, THE CLICKING AND BUZZING NOISES STOP. *JB

CONSUMER WAS AT A STOP WHEN VEHICLE WAS REARENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELLING 45 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SEATBACK BROKE. NO INJURIES, VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME. DAMAGE ABOUT $ 5000.00.*AK
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS SITTING IN STOPPED TRAFFIC WHEN AN SUV REAR ENDED ME GOING ABOUT 40 TO 45 MPH . IT THEN SENT ME INTO A TRUCK THAT WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. MY SEAT THE DRIVERS SIDE COLAPSED AND I ENDED UP LAYING FLAT IN THE BACK SEAT. AFTER TALKING TO THE BODY SHOP I FOUND OUT ALL THE GEARS IN THE POWER SEAT WERE STRIPPED CAUSING BACK INJURY. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER COLASPED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER ALONG WITH HONDA CONSUMER RELATION AND THE SAFETY COUNCIL AND RECEIVED NO SATISFACTION THEY ALL JUST PASSED THE BUCK BACK TO ONE ANOTHER IT WAS A VICIOUS CIRCLE.*AK

THE VEHICLE DIED DUE TO THE FUEL LINE COMING OFF, WHICH WAS DUE TO THE FAULTY INSTALLATION OF THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER WAS SENT A RECALL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. SCC
EGR VALVE EMISSIONS CONTINOUSLY CLOGS AND NO ONE CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE RECALL. I SPENT $500 AT OTHER MECHANICS UNTIL I WAS FINALLY TOLD TO CALL HONDA.
1.) SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR THE GAS PEDAL STICKS. 2.) WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE CAR SHUTS OFF AS IF THE BATTERY DIED. THE BATTERY IS FINE. 3.) YESTERDAY DUIRING THE DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START, ACTED AS IF IT WASEN'T GETTING ANY FUEL. THE GAS TANK IS FULL. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS AND WAITING FOR 15-MINUTES THE CAR STARTED OK. I HAVE SERVICED MY CAR AS REQUIRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 35-40 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V423000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). HOWEVER, THE RECALL REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT AND DID NOT ADDRESS THE RECALL DEFECT. THE FAILURE CONTINUES WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE MAINTENANCE NEEDED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE EGR VALVE WAS CLOGGED, CONSUMER IS CONCERNED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE PASSED 2 EMISSIONS TESTS IN LESS THAN A 4 MONTH PERIOD. *YH
WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE GEARS WILL GRIND, VEHICLE WILL NOT GO BACKWARDS. VEHICLE IS AT DEALER AT THIS TIME.*AK *YH
I WAS GOING DOWN HILL ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY IN TOWN AND GAVE A SIGNAL TO TURN RIGHT ONTO A STREET. I PUT THE BRAKE ON AND AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE STREET THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A TRUCK WAS COMING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WHEN I TURNE THE CORNER AND I TURNED LEFT INTO SOME BUSHES AND ROCKS TO MISS IT. THE POLICE OFFICER AND THE WRECKER DRIVER TRIED THE BRAKES AND SAID THE BRAKES WERE OUT. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE REPAIRED UNDER WARRENTY AND THE SERVICE MANGAGER SAID HE COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND HAD MY BROTHER IN LAW DRIVE THE CAR HOME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN ON HIM BEFORE HE GOT THE CAR HOME. MY SON IS AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND REPAIRED THE BRAKES. HE SAID THE WHEEL HAD NOT BEEN OFF THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKE DRUMS WERE STILL RUSTED ONTO THE REAR AXLE. HE ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES, CHECKED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND INSTALLED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER. THE BRAKES SEEM TO BE WORKING FINE NOW. IT COST MY INSURANCE COMPANY $4100.00 TO REPAIR THE BODY DAMAGE TO THE CAR. I THINK THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRENTY. YOUR HELP WITH THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.*AK
AFTER GETTING INTO VEHICLE AND CLOSING THE DOOR REAR WINDSHIELD SHATTERED FOR UNKNOWN REASON. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER.*AK
