2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON FREEWAY TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED DUE TO FAILURE AND AMERICAN HONDA DID REPLACE TRANSMISSION WITH REMANUFACTURED ONE. I WAS ABLE TO WALK AWAY FROM THIS INCIDENT AND ONLY HAD TO PAY THE LABOR TO INSTALL THE NEW TRANSMISSION. HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN WHILE I OWN THE CAR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
I WISH TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AGAINST MICHELIN TIRE COMPANY. ABOUT 4,000 MILES AGO I INSTALLED TWO MICHELIN 20560V16 FRONT TIRES ON MY CAR. YESTERDAY, WHILE PARKED, THE SIDEWALL OF THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE (DOT-M37R-JLFX-1106) SIMPLY BURST LEAVING A 2-3 IN. GAP. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT TIRES IN ORDER NOT TO HAVE A TREAD IMBALANCE. AFTER A LONG AND TEDIOUS TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH MICHELIN CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY MAINTAINED, WITHOUT CHECKING THE STATE OF THE TIRE, THAT THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURING OR OTHER DEFECT, AND THUS WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE STANDARD MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. THEY ADDED THAT IT WAS DUE TO MISUSE, SINCE THE TIRE WAS INSTALLED ON A CAR!!! AS IF THEIR MANUFACTURING RESPONSIBILITY EXTENDS ONLY TO BRAND NEW TIRES WHILE STILL IN THE SHOP, PRIOR TO INSTALLATION ON A CAR. THEY THEN OFFERED "AS A GOOD WILL" (AS THEY CLAIM) ONLY 30% REDUCTION ON TIRE REPLACEMENT ONLY (NO REIMBURSEMENT OF LABOR ASSOCIATED WITH TIRE REPLACEMENT), WHICH I HAVE REFUSED, GIVEN THE NEAR-NEW STATE OF THE TIRE. OTHER THAN INDICATING THAT THERE MAY BE A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THESE MICHELIN TIRES, DO I HAVE A RECOURSE AGAINST SUCH A FLAGRANT FAILURE TO HONOR A CLEAR DEFECT RESPONSIBILITY? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN FLASHING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER GEAR AND THE RPM INCREASED. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 94,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD REVVING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY DECELERATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 86,000.
TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP 3 MONTHS AGO COMPLAINING THAT SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. DEALER DID TEST AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS OK. THE OTHER DAY DRIVING AT 40KMS/HR, CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR AT ALL. LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR FAR FROM HOME WHEN THIS HAPPEN. TOOK CAR TO SAME DEALERSHIP, TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY OF 7YRS AND 130,000 KMS. LUCKILY I'M ONLY AT 99K. HONDA OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THAT THIS TRANSMISSION IS MALFUNCTIONING ON ALL V6 AUTOMATICS, THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY SERIOUS INJURIES THAT THIS MAY CAUSE. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT (SRS LIGHT) TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY. PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. HAS BEEN REPLACED ONE TIME A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASE THE CAR NEW AND NOW (4 YEARS LATER) IT IS ON AGAIN. *TR
I DRIVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD WITH 71,000 MILES. THE IGNITION KEY IS STUCK AT POSITION 1 OF 3 AND CANNOT BE RETURNED TO 0. I AM UNABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT IN ANY GEAR POSITION (OTHERS HAVE TRIED IT AS WELL) AND AM UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE KEY. *TR
1.BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND NEVER GOES OUT. WHEN LEAD IS DISCONNECTED FROM MASTER CYLINDER, LIGHT GOES OUT AND REMAINS OUT. 2. AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 70 DEGREES AND GOES OUT WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS HIGHER. *TR
CONDENSER FAILURE-2003 HONDA ACCORD- MY WIFE JUST INFORMED ME THE OTHER DAY THE A/C WASN'T WORKING. I CHECKED OUT THE RELAY AND IT'S JUST FINE SO I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND CAME ACROSS SEVERAL POSTINGS ABOUT THE CONDENSER AND ROAD DEBRIS. WELL AFTER LOOKING AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR DIRECTLY AT THE CONDENSER I COULD SEE THAT IT WAS PRETTY WELL HAGGARD FROM ROCKS AND OTHER CRAP. I DID NOTICE AN AREA TO THE UPPER LEFT SIDE THAT WAS WET FROM A LEAK, MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS FREON. JUDGING BY THE MASS-OPEN HOLES IN THE PLASTIC BENEATH THE BUMPER, IT IS NO WONDER THAT IS WAS DAMAGED! HONDA HAS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW GOING ON HERE AND WE ARE ALL SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES. THIS IS B.S. THAT WE ARE STUCK FOOTING THE BILL FOR A CAR THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST RELIABLE CAR ON THE ROAD. *TR
I DRIVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX. BOUGHT 2 NEW PIRELLI P6 FOUR SEASON TIRES, P205/60R16 . STARTED GETTING FLAT ALL OF A SUDDEN RECENTLY. HAVE 35,000 ON A 60,000 TIRE. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC I NEED TO REPLACE THEM AS THE SIDE WALLS HAVE ROTTED OUT. DANGEROUS FOR ME, AS I COMMUTE 50 MILES EACH WAY EACH DAY ON A ROUGH HIGHWAY IN NJ. WILL TRY TO GET SOME SATISFACTION ON THE WARRANTY. *TR
AC QUIT WORKING AND TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY SAID THAT A "PRISTINE" PEBBLE HAD DESTROYED THE CONDENSER, AND THAT IT WAS NOT A MECHANICAL ERROR SO IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REPORTED OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES PROVES THAT IT IS A MECHANICAL ERROR DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING. OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE AC CONDENSER. THERE ARE HUGE OPENINGS BENEATH THE FRONT BUMPER THAT LET ROAD DEBRIS & ROCKS IN WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION. THE AC CONDENSER IS "RIGHT THERE" WITH A SCREEN OR ANYTHING TO PROTECT IT. BESIDES THE AC NOT WORKING AND HONDA OWNERS HAVING TO SHELL OUT 700-800 TO GET THE CONDENSER REPLACED, THE INITIAL IMPACT BY A ROCK TO THE CONDENSER EMPTIES THE FREON OUT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE! *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY @ 75MPH, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND ENGINE REDLINED AT 7500 RPM WITH LOSS OF ACCELERATION. PULLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND CONTINUED TO DEALERSHIP WITH HAZARD LIGHTS AND MINIMAL ACCELERATION. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX 55 MPH THE CARS TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN DOWN SHIFTED INTO 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AT 6500 RPM AND MY SPEED DROPPED TO 40 MPH AND LOWER AS THE CAR SHUTTERED AND KEPT SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF NEUTRAL AND GRABBING A LOWER GEAR AS I TRIED TO GO OVER A LONG SUSPENSION BRIDGE. IT WAS ONLY BY LUCK THAT A CAR OR 18 WHEELER DIDN'T PLOW INTO ME. I GOT THE CAR BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $2400 AT ONLY 41,000 MILES!!!. THIS TRANSMISSION WAS UNDER A RECALL BACK IN 2004. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE HONDA TRANSMISSIONS THAT THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED. *TR
MY HONDA ACCORD EX 2003 AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON AND OFF. SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY/SAFENESS ISSUE SO I TELL YOU ABOUT THIS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY FAILED AND A NEW ONE WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT BEGAN EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH HER VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A TRANSMISSION DEFECT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE INNER TRANSMISSION LINE. THE FAILURE WAS TEMPORARILY CORRECTED FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS. DURING THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR. THE ENGINE REVVED AND A FEW SECONDS LATER IT RETURNED TO ITS NORMAL SPEED. AT TIMES, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TRAVEL MORE THAN 30 MPH, AND OTHER TIMES, THE VEHICLE JUST HESITATED AND STOPPED PULLING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE RECALL HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPAIRED ON THE VEHICLE. SHE BELIEVES THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT PROPERLY DONE BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS STILL OCCURRING. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
I OWN A BLACK HONDA ACCORD PURCHASED NEW IN 2003 FROM ROBERTSON HONDA NORTH HOLLYWOOD. AFTER ABOUT FIVE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THE EDGES OF THE ROOF STARTING TO FADE, AT FIRST I THOUGH IT WAS JUST A LITTLE WAX LEFT ON, BUT AFTER I COULDN'T REMOVE IT I KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM STARTING. EVERY TIME I WOULD GO IN FOR SERVICE I WOULD MENTION IT TO THE SERVICE WRITER BUT THEY WOULD JUST BRUSH IT OFF. I STILL WASH MY HONDA ONCE A WEEK SOMETIMES MORE AND WAX IT EVERY THREE MONTHS BUT ITS STARTING TO LOOK PRETTY BAD. I AM AFRAID ITS GOING TO GET IN THE METAL AND RUST. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY RPMS SHOT UP TO AROUND 6500 AND MY CAR SLOWED TO ABOUT 40 MPH ALL ABOUT A SECOND. IT WAS AS IF I HAD SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF AND RESTART 4 TO 5 TIMES, AND THEN SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR WOULD HAVE TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED 12 TIMES AND DID NOT CAUSE ANY CRASHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS NOT SERVICED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
2003 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO DEFECT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HONDA DID EMERGENCY RECALL AT 2004, BUT THE RECALL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. MY EXPERIENCE SHOWS EITHER DAMAGE ALREADY DONE OR THAT PREVENTIVE APPROACH FROM RECALL DOESN'T WORK. MY UNDERSTANDING IS HONDA DIDN'T REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON MOST CASE BASED ON THE MILEAGE OR DEGREE OF DAMAGE. I PURCHASED THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 AT NOV. 2002, I DID RECALL AT 2004. WHEN I DRIVE ON NEW JERSEY 615 LAST WEEK, ALL OF SUDDEN, THE CAR SPEED DROPPED FROM 60MPH TO 45 MPH. AFTER ANOTHER FIVE MINUTES DRIVE AT 45 MPH, LESS THAN ONE SECOND, IT DROPPED TO 25 MPH. I SEE QUITE FEW COMPLAINTS WITH SAME HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES AT WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. MY CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD AND WITH 109,000 MILE ON IT. HONDA OWNER'S MANUAL REQUIRES TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE AT 10 YEARS OR FIRST 120,000 MILE. MICHELIN ENERGY MXV4 PLUS TIRES WITH RADIAL XSE SIZE P205/65R15 OEM TIRES ON HONDA ACCORD EX V6. VEHICLE IS KEPT TO DATE ON MAINTENANCE, REGULARLY ROTATED, BALANCED, AIR CHECKED. CAR IS HANDLED CONSERVATIVELY AND TIRE HAS LOW MILES. DRIVER HAS CLEAN DRIVING RECORD. 1) THESE TIRES HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF A CONSTANT, HARROWING HYDROPLANING ON ANY WET OR ICED SURFACES OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. 2) TWO TIRES HAD SIDE WALLS BLOWN ON NEGLIGIBLE SHALLOW POT-HOLES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, IN 2005, AND IN AUG.2006. 3) LATEST SURPRISE: NOW AT 23,000 MILES, 2 FRONT TIRES THREADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN, AND BACK TIRES ALSO WORN ENOUGH TO WARRANT REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE GEARS WERE DISCOLORED, BUT NOT SEVERELY ENOUGH FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
MY 2003 ACCORD V-6 EX TRANNY FAILED AT 83K. HONDA DEALER SAYS 3RD GEAR GONE. WHAT IF HE'S WRONG. IF THERMAL BREAKDOWN SHOULDN'T MATTER WHICH GEAR. FLUID LEVELS WERE FINE. WENT OUT GOING DOWNHILL! THE CONTACT PAID FOR THE REPAIRS AND NOW WANTS TO BE REIMBURSED AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 99,120.
MY 2003 ACCORD V6 EX SEDAN TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS IN LESS THAN 1 MONTH (12/6 & 1215/07 & 1/4/08). IF THIS FAILURE OCCURS WHEN MY HUSBAND OR I NEED TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC, WE ARE AT RISK FOR BEING REAR-ENDED. I MUST HAVE HAD MY RIGHT LEG BENT, BECAUSE THE CAR RAN OVER MY LEFT LEG AT THE CALF AREA. I SUSTAINED A CRUSH INJURY TO THE LEG. THE SQUAD WAS CALLED. I WAS TAKEN TO UNC MEMORIAL CHAPEL HILL ED, WHERE I WAS TREATED FOR A CRUSHED LEG INJURY AND SENT HOME TO OBSERVE FOR INCREASING COMPARTMENT SYNDROME SYMPTOMS. I ENDED UP WITH TWO LARGE BLISTERS/WOUNDS TO MY LEFT LEG. ONE HEALED THE OTHER REQUIRED SKIN GRAPHS/DONOR SITE LEFT THIGH. HOSPITALIZED ONE WEEK ON BED REST FOR THE GRAFTS TO TAKE. HAVE SUFFERED PERMANENT DAMAGE AND CHRONIC PAIN TO THE LEFT LEG. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING TO NEXT GEAR BETWEEN 2ND & 3RD AND BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH. *TR
SIMILAR TO THE RECENT ACURA TSX RECALL, MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD HAS THE SAME SIMILARITIES WITH THE POWER STEERING HOSE. I WAS TOLD BY AN HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT A HOLE HAS DEVELOPED ON MY POWER STEERING HOSE. ANY TIME I TURN THE CAR THERE IS A NOISE THAT THE CAR MAKES, THIS IS EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE IN COOLER WEATHER. DUE TO THE HIGH QUOTE MY HONDA DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME ON, I HAVE YET TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT MY CAR HAS HAD FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. IN ADDITION THEY TOLD ME, I WOULD NEED A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP, HOSE, AND FLUID. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. LUCKILY, SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. BUT THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED ACCORDING TO HONDA'S RECOMMENDATIONS. THE CAR HAD 64,800 MILES ON IT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. ALTHOUGH HONDA PAID 25% OF THE COST, I WAS STILL LEFT WITH A SUBSTANTIAL BILL FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN NECESSARY AT THE CAR'S AGE AND MILEAGE. MOREOVER, I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN CERTAIN HONDA V-6 VEHICLES IS A KNOWN DEFECT--ONE THE COMPANY HAS NOT ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED. HONDA RECALLED '03 ACCORD V-6S IN '04 TO RETROFIT THE TRANSMISSIONS WITH OIL JET PACKS TO CORRECT AN INSUFFICIENT LUBRICATION PROBLEM. THE FIX APPARENTLY DIDN'T WORK. I'M CONCERNED THE TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR MIGHT FAIL AGAIN WITH MORE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. *TR

SHE SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED. THERE WAS ALSO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED, WHICH STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOW OPERATE CORRECTLY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,694. THE CAR WAS DAMAGED AT THE BACK EDGE OF THE LEFT REAR DOOR AND REPAIRED AT THE BODY SHOP BOTH JOYCE HONDA AND GRECCO AUTO BODY ARE SUBSIDIARIES OF THE GRECCO AUTO GROUP SELLING & REPAIRING HONDAS. THE HONDA FACTORY REP. SAID THE REAR QUARTER PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THE RUST WAS DUE TO THE ACCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENT REPAIR AND THEREFORE HONDA WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE. THE HONDA DEALERS BODY SHOP AND STATE FARM INSUR. CLAIMS REP. MAINTAIN THAT THE RUST WAS FAR BEHIND THE AREA THAT WAS REPAIRED AND WAS NOT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. ATTACHED ARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE SMALL DENT BY THE DOOR JUST ABOVE THE BODY TRIM LINE AND THE RUST AT THE VERY TOP OF THE WHEEL OPENING. IN ESSENCE, THE SERVICE MANAGER OF JOYCE HONDA AND THE FACTORY REP (WHO WOULD NOT GIVE ME A BUSINESS CARD OR NAME) SAID THE RUST IS A RESULT OF THE REPAIR AND NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. WHILE GRECCO AUTO BODY AND THE AUTO INSPECTOR FOR STATE FARM INSURANCE SAID THE RUST IS FAR TO THE REAR OF THE REPAIRED AREA AND NOT THE RESULT OF THE REPAIR. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE AT THE DEALERS BODY SHOP TO AVOID A SITUATION AS THIS WHERE NO ONE IS ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT A PROBLEM. THUS THE THREE ENTITIES OF THE SAME BUSINESS, HONDA MOTOR CO., JOYCE HONDA DEALERSHIP, AND GRECCO AUTO BODY ARE BLAMING EACH OTHER AND MY CAR CONTINUES TO PREMATURELY RUST THROUGH. I WOULD BE DRIVING PICKING UP SPEED TO MERGE WITH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC OR STREET TRAFFIC AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL GET STUCK NOT ALLOWING ME TO GO MORE THAN 20MPH OR 25 MPH I THEN HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND PRAY THAT I CAN GET TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENCE. HOWEVER, EVERYTIME I TOOK IT THE HONDA DEALER THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE NOT COVERED WITH MY WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THANKFULLY I HAVE NOT GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT SINCE THIS PROBLEM IS STILL ON GOING WITH MY CAR. THIS IS INLINE WITH MANY SIMILAR STORIES FROM FORUM POSTERS WHO ALSO HAVE SUFFERED FROM THIS ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT IN HONDA'S TRANSMISSION FOR THE 03' ACCORD AUTOMATIC V-6 MODEL. RESEARCH REVEALED THIS RECALL, SO I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THE RECALL WORK HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. I CONTACTED HONDA CORP. 800-999-1009 WHO STATED THAT THE CAR HAD RECALL SERVICE AT 48K MILES. AND REGARDLESS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL ACTING IN THE SAME DANGEROUS FASHION, HONDA IS NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR WORK TO FIX THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. SO EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION MAY STILL BE DANGEROUS FOR THE REASON THAT CAUSED THE RECALL, THEY CLAIM TO HAVE FULFILL ALL COMMITMENTS AFTER THEIR FIRST ATTEMPT TO FIX THE CAR, AND HOLD NO FURTHER OBLIGATION TO FIX THEIR DEFECT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WERE NOT COMPLETE. HONDA MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD WAS FOUND IN 2004 TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION DESIGN PROBLEM WHICH COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IF NOT ADDRESSED. I WAS NOTIFIED IN 2005 OF THIS AND TOOK MY CAR INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, GUARANTEED BY HONDA THAT IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN IN 2007, THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERED A TOTAL FAILURE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. WHILE I WAS NOT INJURED, HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN OTHERWISE. HONDA SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW ONE, BUT THAT I HAD TO PAY THE $700 IN LABOR SINCE THE CAR WAS OUT OF ITS ORIGINAL THREE YEAR WARRANTY. EVEN AFTER FIVE ATTEMPTS TO GET HONDA TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE DESIGN PROBLEM AND INEFFECTIVE REPAIR SHOULD HAVE IN EFFECT, EXTENDED THE WARRANTY, THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE LABOR CHARGE. THIS DISREGARD OF RESPONSIBILITY BY A MAJOR CAR COMPANY FOR THE QUALITY OF MAJOR DRIVE TRAIN DESIGN PROBLEMS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF BIG BUSINESS ABUSING INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE POWER TO DO SO. THE REGULATORY ARMS OF OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEED TO PROTECT CITIZENS FROM SUCH ABUSE AND ORDER HONDA, AT A MINIMUM, TO PAY THE $700 LABOR CHARGE, AND TO BE PUT ON NOTICE THAT, UNLIKE THE FAILURE OF THE FINANCIAL REGULATORY AGENCIES TO DO THEIR JOBS, NHTSA WILL NOT FAIL TO PROTECT CONSUMERS.
