I WAS HIT BY A TRUCK FROM BEHIND WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR ONCOMING CARS TO PASS ( I HAD TO TURN LEFT). THE TRUCK WAS GOING AT LEAST 50 M/H. MY HONDA IS TOTALED. NONE OF THE SIX AIRBAGS IN THE CAR DEPLOYED. *TR
I LEASED A 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 IN MAY OF 2004, FROM RICK CASE IN MIRAMAR FL. ON AUGUST 31, 2005, I HAD TO HAVE MY O RING DISCHARGE LINE REPLACED, DUE TO LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND NOISE. THEN, ON APRIL 3, 2006 I HAD TO HAVE MY ENTIRE RADIO/CD PLAYER CHANGED OUT DUE TO LED NOT WORKING AND BOTH BACK WINDOW MOTORS REPLACED DUE TO LOUD NOISE AND ROLLING DOWN SLOWLY. IN JULY 2006, I RELOCATED TO ATLANTA, GA AND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE VIA RETAIL (TRANSFERRED THE TITLE) IN AUGUST 2007. THEN, NOVEMBER 9, 2007, I HAD TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED DUE TO LEAKING FLUIDS AND A LOUD NOISE. TODAY IS AUGUST 6, 2009 AND I AM AGAIN HAVING THE SAME POWER STEERING ISSUES!! OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I AM CURRENTLY HAVING WITH MY CAR: HAD TO GET MY BATTERY CHANGED AUGUST 9, 2007; WINDOW MOTOR PROBLEMS WITH BOTH MY FRONT SEAT WINDOWS; INTERNAL LIGHTS NOT WORKING ON TRANSMISSION GEAR-SHIFT, OVER-HEAD LIGHT. I AM SO UNHAPPY WITH THIS HONDA PURCHASE AS I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE KNOWN FOR THEIR LONGEVITY, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER AND GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS PRIOR TO SUDDEN FAILURE OF MY TRANSMISSION IN MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY DROPPED SPEED. THE ENGINE REVVED, WHILE MY CAR WENT NO WHERE. LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD (WITH MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR). I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY SHOT AND HAD TO EITHER BE REPLACED OR REBUILT....IT ONLY HAS 85,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE YET TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN DOING MY RESEARCH, AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY POPULAR PROBLEM. QUITE CONFUSED AS TO HOW A CAR CAN GO FROM WORKING JUST FINE, TO NEEDING A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES. *TR
OVER THE PAST 10 MONTHS, STARTING APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 2009, THE AIR LIGHT IN MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EXL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY COME ON THEN GO BACK OFF. MORE RECENTLY, IT COMES ON A DAILY BASIS. WHEN I BUCKLE MY SEATBELT AND START THE CAR IT MAY APPEAR AND STAY ON THE ENTIRE TIME WHILE DRIVING. THEN WHEN I STOP AND TURN OFF THE CAR THEN TURN IT BACK ON, THE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT SHOW UP AGAIN. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V001000 FOR 2004 HONDA ACCORD. "COMPONENT: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE SUMMARY: ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE SEAT POSITION SENSOR (SPS) DETECTS THE DRIVER'S SEATING POSITION AND ADJUSTS THE AIR BAG INFLATION PRESSURE ACCORDINGLY. THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE SPS WAS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT FRAME IN THE WRONG LOCATION AND MAY HAVE BEEN OVER TIGHTENED. THE SENSOR WIRE MAY BREAK AND CAUSE THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TO BE ILLUMINATED, AND THE SPS TO FAIL. CONSEQUENCE: A FAILURE OF THE SPS CAUSES THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TO DEFAULT TO FULL INFLATION PRESSURE, REGARDLESS OF THE SEAT POSITION. FULL DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY FOR SMALLER DRIVERS IN A FRONTAL CRASH. REMEDY: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SEAT POSITION SENSOR WIRING SUBHARNESS. THE RECALL WILL BEGIN ON OR ABOUT FEBRUARY 8, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009." I CONTACTED AMERICA HONDA MOTOR AND THEY SAID THAT THIS RECALL WAS ON THE 2004 ACCORD LX AND EX BUT NOT MY EXL MODEL OR MY VIN NUMBER. I FEEL THAT MY CAR IS EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT ACCELERATED AND THE TRANSMISSION BECAME EXTREMELY SLUGGISH AND BEGAN TO SLIP GEARS IN A JERKING MOTION. THE RPMS BEGAN TO INCREASE. THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND THEN RESUMED WITH THE CONTINUOUS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND TWO INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOPS FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE PART WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DIAGNOSED WITH A FORTH OPINION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2004 HONDA ACCORD WITH 44K MILES NEEDS TRANSMISSION REPLACED. CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER CARE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME 2004 ACCORDS FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT (NHTSA: 04V176000). HONDA SAYS OUR VIN DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM HONDA DEALER AND ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE AND ALL WORK DONE BY HONDA DEALERSHIP. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A BRAND NEW CAR, WITH ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORK COMPLETED, TO REQUIRE A TOTAL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WITH ONLY 44 K MILES. HONDA HAS AGREED TO PAY 60% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. HONDA IS AWARE OF THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS (IE, THE RECALL). THE DEFECT INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ADDITIONAL HONDA VIN'S AS THERE IS OBVIOUSLY MORE CARS WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS THAT COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES. *TR
COMMUTING TO WORK IN THE MORNING, WHEN I WAS GETTING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR SEEMED TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR. THE RPM'S WENT VERY HIGH (7K), BUT I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. I COASTED FOR A WHILE AND WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY AGAIN. THE CAR BEHAVED NORMALLY THE REST OF THE TIME ON THE FREEWAY, BUT HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN AFTER I EXITED THE FREEWAY. AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION, I COULDN'T GET OUT OF 1ST GEAR FOR A WHILE. AFTER WORK, I DROVE THE CAR AROUND THE BACK STREETS FOR A LITTLE TO SEE IF I THOUGHT I COULD GET HOME, FIGURING THAT ONCE I GOT ON THE FREEWAY, EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE. AFTER A FEW MILES ON THE FREEWAY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL, AND HAD TO CUT ACROSS 4 LANES WITH JUST MY MOMENTUM TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER. ONCE THERE, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND TRIED TO SEE IF I COULD MOVE AT ALL. I COULDN'T. IN PARK, I COULD REV THE ENGINE AND SEE THE RPM'S INCREASE, BUT WHEN I SHIFTED TO DRIVE OR REVERSE, I COULDN'T GET THE ENGINE TO ENGAGE OR MOVE AT ALL. I RESTARTED THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, AND EVENTUALLY GOT IT TO RESPOND, BUT SHORTLY AFTER GETTING BACK ON THE FREEWAY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, SO I PULLED OVER ONCE MORE AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK GOT ME BACK TO THE HONDA DEALER, WHERE I LATER FOUND OUT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A 2004 WITH 90K MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS CRACKING THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,400. WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROUTE 9 IN OLD BRIDGE, NJ MY VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. IT WAS DURING RUSH HOUR AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 20 MPH. *TR
2004 HONDA ACCORD V-6 66,000 MILES I HAVE HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES PERFORMED ON MY CAR WITH THE DEALERSHIP THINKING THIS WOULD KEEP MY CAR SAFE, WHICH FAILED TO BE THE CASE. MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH ONLY HAVING 66,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 45 MILES WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I PLACED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY AND THEY WOULD ONLY HONOR 75% OF THE FEE TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER STATING IT WAS UNSAFE AND UNFAIR AND I WOULD SEEK LEGAL ACTION, THEY FORCED ME TO SIGN A RELEASE FORM OR THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE 75% FEE REQUIRED FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO THE CONSUMER ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE THEIR TRANSMISSION GO OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. AT 66,000 MILES WITH A HISTORY OF ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED, IT JUST SEEMS THIS VEHICLE HAD A FACTORY DEFECTED TRANSMISSION. I FEEL HONDA IS AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL YEAR TRANSMISSION BUT ISN'T TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND IT COULD BE UNSAFE ON THE ROAD. *TR
2004 HONDA ACCORD, 2 DOOR, 6 SP MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING, OCCASIONALLY WHEN TURNING ON TURN SIGNAL, TURNING ON THE HIGH BEAMS OR TOUCHING THE BRAKES CAUSES AN INTERRUPTION TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE CAR AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF. IF MOVING WITH THE CLUTCH OUT, THE CAR STARTS BACK UP AND CONTINUES. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME I DRIVE SOMEWHERE AND GETS MORE FREQUENT THE LONGER YOU DRIVE--LIKE ON A LONG TRIP. IS EXCITING WHEN PUTTING TURN SIGNAL ON WHILE PASSING WHILE AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH WHEN CAR SUDDENLY FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I WOULD ACCELERATE AND THE RPM'S WOULD REV UP HIGH, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. NEXT DAY, COULDN'T GET THE CAR INTO GEAR AT ALL. *TR
WATER IS LEAKING INSIDE THE CAR ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR NEXT TO THE FOOT REST, BRAKE PEDAL EVERYTIME IT RAINS OUTSIDE. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS WERE INOPERATIVE. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V001000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. EARLY MODEL 2004 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY AND WITH NO WARNING HAS ISSUES. WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, (I WAS GOING UP A HILL AT THE TIME) THE ENGINE REVS REALLY HIGH AND THEN WILL NOT GO. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND TURN IT OFF BEFORE CREATING AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND MAKE IT HOME. SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY AND WE IMMEDIATELY CONTRACTED THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I THEN READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THIS 2003 AND2004 HONDA ACCORD V-6. PLEASE MAKE SURE HONDA FIXES THIS PROBLEM SOON...IT'S VERY DANGEROUS. *TR THANK YOU
THE FRONT INSTRUMENT PANEL (THE PANEL THAT CONTAINS THE BUTTONS TO TURN ON/OFF THE DEFROST, HEATER, AIR CONDITIONER, RADIO) FAILED TO ILLUMINATE IN APRIL OF 2009. AFTER GETTING IN MY CAR, PUTTING MY KEY IN THE IGNITION, AND TURNING THE HEADLIGHTS ON I NOTICED THAT THE PANEL DID NOT ILLUMINATE. TYPICALLY, THE PANEL ILLUMINATES AFTER TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS DAY, AFTER TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS THE PANEL DID NOT ILLUMINATE AND HAS NEVER THERE AFTER ILLUMINATED SINCE THAT DATE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH A FUSE (SINCE IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE) SO I SOUGHT THE OWNERS MANUAL TO SEE WHICH FUSE CONTROLLED THE PANEL. AFTER HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THE FUSE LAYOUT I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR HELP AND THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT IN FACT IS NOT A PROBLEM CAUSED BY A SIMPLE FUSE. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND THE DEFROST BUTTON ON THE PANEL WHEN IT IS NOT ILLUMINATED AND ON RAINY NIGHTS OR OTHER NIGHTS WHEN THE DEFROST IS NEEDED BE VERY OBSTRUCTIVE TO THE CLEAR VISIBILITY OF THE DRIVER OF THEY CAN NOT ACCESS THE DEFROST WHEN NEEDED. BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT A RECALL IS ACTIVATED TO REPLACE AND FIX THE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS OF THE PANEL THAT I HAVE DETAILED. *TR

I PURCHASED BRIDGESTONE TIRES (4) APRIL 2009 - REPLACING THE SAME BRAND/TYPE. THEY STARTED OUT NOISY AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY NOISY. THE PRIOR SET DID NOT EXHIBIT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND IS FAR WORSE. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE INCIDENT OCCURRING UPON PURCHASE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW FROM THE DEALER. IT IS A FOUR DOOR, WITHIN A MONTH OF OWNING THE CAR THE CABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE BROKE ON THE REAR LEFT DOOR. TODAY THE CABLE BROKE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. AFTER LOOKING AT THE CABLE IT DOESN'T LOOK STRONG ENOUGH TO LAST FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME AND BEING UNABLE TO GET OUT IN AN EMERGENCY COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. THE CAR HAS ALSO PULLED TO THE RIGHT SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BUT AFTER TAKING TO THE DEALER MORE THEN 4 TIMES WITH NO RESULTS I JUST LEARNED TO LIVE WITH IT. *TR

I OWN A 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CLIMATE CONTROL, CD, RADIO, DEFROSTER, ETC ARE DISPLAYED ON AN BACK-LIT LED DISPLAY CONSOLE. OVER A YEAR AGO THE BACKLIGHT WENT OUT, RENDERING THE DISPLAY USELESS. READING VARIOUS CAR BLOGS, THIS HAS BEEN A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE ACCORDS. SO MUCH SO THAT HONDA HAS RECALLED SOME VIN NUMBERS (BUT NOT MINE) IN THE DAYLIGHT HOURS, THIS IS A MERE INCONVENIENCE, AT NIGHT IT HAS PRESENTED SEVERAL DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHILE DRIVING IN TRYING BLINDLY TO ADJUST CLIMATE SETTINGS -ESPECIALLY THE DEFROSTER. I REPORTED THIS TO HONDA, BUT THEY SAID THAT MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT QUALIFY. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THIS LIGHT FOR $645. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING. *TR
NOTICED UPON STARTING CAR: LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD HAVE DARKENED COMPLETELY (AND PERMANENTLY, NOT INTERMITTENTLY). THIS INCLUDES THE DEFROSTER INDICATOR, DASHBOARD BUTTONS, CLIMATE CONTROL, RADIO, AND CLOCK. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 03-07 ACCORDS, HUNDREDS OF USERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT FOR YEARS. AUTO BODY MASTERS (ABM), THE OFFICIALLY RECOMMENDED REPAIR FACILITY FOR MILLER HONDA IN CULVER CITY, CA, IS THE REPAIR FACILITY THAT REPAIRED OUR CAR. SHORTLY AFTER JANUARY 1, 2009, ABM INFORMED US THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING BADLY AND THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED A MALFUNCTION IN THE TRANSMISSION. SUBSEQUENTLY ABM TOOK OUR CAR TO MILLER HONDA TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT MILLER HONDA TOLD ME THAT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, MILLER HONDA WOULD MAKE A DETERMINATION IF THE ACCIDENT CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO MALFUNCTION. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE SENT TO AMERICAN HONDA FOR A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY ACTUALLY HAD THE ABILITY TO OVERRIDE THE DEALER DECISION AND THE DECISION TO OVERRIDE COULD BE MADE AFTER THE FACT. I HAVE A 2004 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN EX, DURING THE TROPICAL STORM HANNA, I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN, WHEN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. THERE IS A RECALL ON ALL 2003 HONDA ACCORDS FOR FAULTY WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTORS, BUT NO RECALL ON THE 2004. MY MECHANIC HAS FOUND THAT IT IS THE SAME SITUATION AS THE 2003 CARS AND WILL BE REPLACING THE MOTOR. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE, WHEN THEY QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN A BAD STORM. THIS WAS A COMPLETE SURPRISE AND VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING IN RAINFALL. I WAS UNABLE TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.
