Brakes are too small and where out very quickly. I've had 3 sets of breaks done and my car only has 57000 miles.
Very, very common issue on 8th generation AND 9th generation Honda Accords (as well as other Honda models from this era). ABS modules throw solenoid codes (usually consisting of VSA, ABS, traction control, and parking brake lights on the gauge cluster). Sure, the vehicle's ABS may still operate, however this is still a problem and generally not safe. My 2008 Accord EX-L V6 w/ Nav recently had this problem and I have resolved it by swapping over a used part. Honda wants to charge $2500 on average for both the part and labor. What the problem is, is that the circuit board in these modules have been using the wrong gauge of wire according to many mechanics. According to my mechanic, this thing can be triggered with something as simple as an automated car wash. Honda generally makes great, mostly reliable vehicles that are fun to drive. It's a shame that these modules have not been engineered correctly. I hope that the NHTSA can take initiative and force Honda to do a recall on these Aisin modules and fit the cars with better engineered ones. Brakes are an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY in cars and it is IMPERATIVE to have a reliable ABS system. Again, this is a widespread issue and hopefully can be resolved by the NHTSA, working with Honda. I OWN 2 HONDA'S AN ACCORD AND A PILOT IT IS INSANE THE VISA MODULATOR WENT BAD ON BOTH THEM. A 1500+ PART THAT ALSO IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ABS AND EMERG BRAKE. I HAVE 2 RELATIVE WHO ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE MORE RESEARCH I DO THE MORE THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY PART ISSUE. HOW IS EVERYONE E HAVING THIS ISSUE? THE BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON AND OFF ON THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE CHANGED MY BRAKES, REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE WENT TO HONDA AND THEY CAN ONLY TELL YOU THE COST FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ON OTHER WEBSITES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE WEBSITES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE 2008, 2009 AND 2007 HONDA ACCORD, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW IT'S AFFECTING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF VEHICLES FOR THE HONDA ACCORD AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL LISTED. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAN CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE LIGHT COMES ON WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO OF DRIVING AND TURNS OFF AFTER REACHING 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SPEED SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE VSA MODULATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE YAW RATE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
LOSING BRAKING POWER AND PEDAL NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY CONTINUALLY GETTING AIR IN BRAKE LINES FROM FAULTY ABS VSA MODULAR PUMP THIS HAPPENS WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHILE IN MOVING TRAFFIC
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, MY CAR HAS APPROX. 24000 MILES, I HAVING BREAK PROBLEM THAT IS DEVELOPED APPROX. GOOD 5000 MILES AGO. WHEN THE BREAK IS APPLIED THE FONT END OF THE CAR STARTS VIBRATING AND SHAKING, ALSO CAN FILLED IN THE STARRING WHEEL.
MY CAR HAS 21,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THE NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR WAS MY BRAKE PAD WEAR SENSORS. THEY STARTED SQUEALING 1,000 EARLIER BUT I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS THE WEAR SENSORS MAKING THE NOISE BECAUSE THEY SQUEALED WHILE DRIVING. THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY BRAKE DRAG UNLESS THE CALIPERS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I DID FIND OUT ON THE INET THAT THE SLIDER PINS WERE REVERSED AND THAT WAS WHY THERE WAS DRAG ON THE BRAKES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND ALSO CAUSES LESS FUEL EFFICIENCY SINCE THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED ALL OF THE TIME. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AT THE REQUEST OF HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I HAD NO BRAKE PADS LEFT. I CALLED HONDA BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ON A RECALL LIST ACCORDING TO MY VIN BUT ALL OF THE ARTICLES THAT I READ ON THE INET SAID THAT OVER 750,000 OF ALL 2008-2009 AND EARLY 2010 ACCORDS AND ACURA TSX HAD THE SLIDER PINS REVERSED. THERE IS A DOCUMENT ISSUED BY HONDA THAT COMES WITH THE NEW FIXED BRAK PADS FOR THE REAR WHEELS STATES THAT THE SLIDER PINS NEEDS TO BE REVERSED AND THE SMOOTH PIN SHOULD BE ON TOP. MINE WERE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY REVERSED. THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD MODELS WERE SUBJECT TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN 2010. THE SUIT STATED THAT REAR BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLE WEAR PREMATURELY. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LAWSUIT IS THAT AT THAT TIME MOST OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES DID NOT KNOW OR ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PADS. FURTHER, THE PADS ARE WEARING PREMATURELY WHICH IN MOST CASES WILL CAUSE A NEED FOR THE ROTORS TO BE REPLACED. THUS THE EXPENSE TO THE OWNER IS HIGHER. IN SOME INSTANCES THE OWNER IS FORCE TO PURCHASE NEW CALIPERS WHICH INCREASE THE COST EVEN MORE. THE VEHICLES ARE OUTFITTED WITH AN ELECTRONIC BRAKING DISTRIBUTION (EBD) SYSTEM WHICH MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF THE OVERALL ISSUE. WHEN THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD MODELS WERE BUILT, HONDA INSTALLED SMALLER BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLES. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COVERED A FRACTION OF THE COST TO OWNERS. AS TIME GOES BY, MORE AND MORE OWNERS ARE NOW FACED WITH MUCH HIGHER COSTS TO REPLACE ALL THE REAR BRAKING COMPONENETS. I MYSELF SPENT OVER $800.00 IN APRIL, 2014 TO HAVE NEW BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS AND ROTORS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. THAT SERVICE WAS TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE. I NEED TO HAVE THE SAME BRAKING COMPONENTS REPLACED IN MARCH, 2016 AT A COST OF OVER $800.00. THE BRAKE COMPONENTS SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 23 MONTHS. THE MILEAGE BETWEEN REPAIRS WAS 10,000 MILES. HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR POOR QUALITY FOR THE EBD SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLES.

THE ENGINE HAS BEEN MISFIRING SINCE JULY 2014. THE COILS, SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL INJECTORS WERE REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ON. *JB
HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES REPAIRED TWICE SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. ONCE AT 57,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 140,000. WHILE I REALIZE THAT THIS IS NOW A HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLE, THE FRONT BRAKES ARE STILL THE ORIGINAL AND WHEN THE REAR BRAKES WERE REPAIRED, THE SHOP ESTIMATED I STILL HAD 70% LIFE REMAINING FOR THE FRONT PADS. THE COST OF THE REPAIRS AT 57,000 MILES WERE PARTIALLY COVERED BY A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST HONDA AT THE TIME.
I HAVE NOTICED ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THAT WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKE THE ACCELERATOR IS ALSO ACTIVATED. WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE BRAKE AND APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN IT CORRECTS ITSELF. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS CAUSED BY WEARING MY BIG SNOW BOOTS AND I WAS ACTUALLY PRESSING BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS NOT THE CASE AS IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN. I HAVEN'T TAKEN MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP YET BECAUSE I KNOW THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR THEM. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES. *TR
DESPITE THE RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO, HONDA STILL IGNORES THE PROBLEM OF REAR BRAKES THAT WEAR OUT RAPIDLY AND THEREFORE REQUIRE FREQUENT REPLACEMENT. AT JUST OVER 91,000 MILES, I NOW HAVE TO SCHEDULE MY 3RD REAR BRAKE REPLACEMENT AND IT WILL BE THE SECOND TIME THAT I MUST REPLACE THE REAR ROTORS. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR REAR BRAKES ARE FLAWED AND SEEM TO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO CORRECT THEM. THEY ALSO DO NOT FEEL AS THOUGH THEY SHOULD OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THEIR SUBSTANDARD REAR BRAKES. WE ARE THEREFORE FORCED INTO HIGH REAR BRAKE AND ROTOR REPLACEMENT BILLS. PERHAPS IT WAS THEIR PLAN ALL ALONG TO BILK UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS.
