TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN DEFENDER TIRES, SIZE: 225/50/R1794T (NA). WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRE BLEW OUT. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRE WAS DRY ROTTED. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,400. THE DOT NUMBER AND TIRE SIDE FAILURE WERE UNKNOWN.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON DASHBOARD STAYS LIT CONSTANTLY (YEARS!); EVEN AFTER BRAND NEW, PROPERLY INFLATED TIRES ARE INSTALLED. ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE FRIDAY 7/27/18 VERY FORTUNATE THAT TIRE MADE NOISE SO I PULLED OVER, AS TIRE INSIDE SIDEWALLS RUBBER WAS DISINTEGRATED/GONE WITH STEEL THREADS SHOWING! TPMS DASH LIGHT IS KNOWN DEFECT TO HONDA; BUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE $90 TO TELL YOU THAT! I'M EXTREMELY LUCKY TO NOT BE IN HOSPITAL OR MORGUE TODAY!

THE TPMS LIGHT ON THE CLUSTER PANEL TURNS ON AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I'VE ROUTINELY CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE FOR PAST THREE MONTHS ON COLD MORNINGS AND WARM TIRES. THE TPMS LIGHT TURNS OFF ON IT OWN AFTER AN HOUR OF HIGHWAY DRIVING OR ONCE YOU SWITCH THE ENGINE OFF (IT DOESN'T COME BACK ON UNTIL YOU DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AGAIN FOR AT LEAST 30-60 MINUTES).
TIRE WENT FLAT. SIDEWALL LEAKING AIR WITH NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO SIDEWALL.

PURCHASED A SET OF FOUR NEW HANKOOK VENTUS V12 EVO TIRES BACK IN JUNE 2013. I DRIVE VERY LITTLE- HAVE ONLY 30K IN MY '08 VEHICLE. I WAS PLANNING A ROAD TRIP THIS MONTH & OF COURSE DID ALL THAT WAS NECESSARY INCLUDING A VEHICLE CHECKUP. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2 HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY (W/ A BREAK AFTER AN HOUR, WHICH INCLUDED ANOTHER VEHICLE CHECKUP), THE STEERING WHEEL STARTING SHAKING VIOLENTLY & I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE SIDE OF MY CAR THROUGH MY SIDE VIEW MIRROR. PULLED OVER TO FIND THAT ONE OF MY TIRES WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT & THE SIDE WALL WAS TORN. I WAS IN COMPLETE SHOCK. THESE WERE NEW TIRES- ONLY A YEAR OLD, WITH CONSIDERABLE TREAD ON THEM. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO GET BLOWN OUT LIKE THIS. CALLED AAA FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & THEY HAD TO PUT A SPARE TIRE ON. I WAS HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY FROM HOME & FROM MY DESTINATION & THERE WERE NO TIRE SHOPS OPEN IN THE AREA. HAD TO DRIVE CLOSE TO 100 MILES, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AT 50 MPH TO GET TO A 24 HR TIRE SHOP. FIRST SHOP DIDN'T HAVE MY TIRE SIZE, BUT SECOND ONE DID. TIRE WAS INSPECTED & THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE OR ADVERSE OBJECTS FOUND WITH THE TIRE OTHER THAN THE SIDEWALL BEING TORN & THE TIRE BLOWN OUT. HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY FOR A NEW TIRE (THEY HAD NO USED TIRE), SINCE I WAS STILL HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY FROM HOME & MY DESTINATION, & I COULDN'T KEEP DRIVING WITH A SPARE TIRE ON. I ENDED UP PAYING A HEFTY FEE FOR THE NEW TIRE & OTHER CHARGES. I INITIALLY PAID A VERY HIGH AMOUNT, FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WERE QUALITY TIRES FROM HANKOOK, APPARENTLY I WAS VERY WRONG. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE I WILL NEVER BUY HANKOOK TIRES AGAIN. *TR
I HAVE HAD 2 BLOWOUTS WITHIN A 3 MONTH PERIOD OF MY FRONT DRIVERS' SIDE GOODYEAR WEATHERHANDLER FUEL MAX TIRES. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT WAS A SMOOTH STOP BUT I'M CONCERNED THAT I HAD TWO IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE TIRES ONLY BEING 2 YEARS OLD. BOTH WHEEL BEARINGS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AROUND 120K MILES. LOUD HUMMING NOISES COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. CHANGED OUT BOTH HUB ASSEMBLIES AND NOW IT SOUNDS QUIET AGAIN. SEEMS A BIT PREMATURE TO HAVE TO CHANGE OUT THE PARTS. *TR
I HAVE OWNED A SET OF YOKOHAMA AVIDS FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS AND ROUGHLY 20,000 MILES. IN THAT TIME I HAVE HAD 3 SIDE WALL FAILURES. ONE FROM A POT HOLE, ONE FROM A RAISED MAN HOLE COVER AND ONE FROM A NAIL GOING THROUGH THE SIDEWALL. ALL THREE TIRES WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. IN 24 YEARS OF DRIVING I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS HAPPEN THESE 3 TIMES. THE ORIGINAL SET OF TIRES WERE MICHELIN'S AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH SIDE WALL FAILURES IN OVER 50,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD COUPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEEL RIM ON THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED BY HONDA WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER USES A CLEAR COAT ON THEIR WHEEL RIMS WHICH CAUSES WATER TO ENTER UNDERNEATH, WHICH HAS CAUSED CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, BUT CLAIMS THAT THE CONTACT APPLIED CHROME CLEANER TO THE WHEEL RIM WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. HE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE COMPANY TO INSPECT THE WHEEL RIM AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THEY WERE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE WHEEL RIMS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,350. UPDATED 3/8/11 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED NO CLEANERS OR CHEMICALS HAVE BEEN USED ON THE RIMS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE RIMS. UPDATED 08/08/11
MICHELIN PILOT MXM4 P225/50R17 ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRE ON A 2008 HONDA ACCORD 4DR EX. MOUNTED ON RR WITH ONLY 17735 MILES DEVELOPED A SIDE WALL BLISTER NEAR THE BEAD. THE TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED AND HAD NEVER SUFFERED ANY IMPACT DAMAGE. THE TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT OWNERS COST BECAUSE MICHELIN DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR WARRANTY. DEFECTIVE TIRE KEPT BY OWNER FOR INSPECTION BY MICHELIN REP. *TR
TIRE HAD A 1/16 INCH WIDE BY 1/2 INCH LENGTH SLIT NEAR THE RIM. WENT TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A DEFECT. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE SLIT, IT WAS LIKE A PULLED TISSUE PAPER. NOW IT IS TWO INCHES LONG. I GOT IT REPLACED AT A COST. *TR
MAKE : HONDA MODEL : ACCORD MODEL YEAR 2008 OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION - I WANT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION THAT THE INSIDE OF THE HONDA ALLOY WHEELS ARE NOT SEALED OR PAINTED FROM THE FACTORY. THE WHEEL IS ALREADY CORRODING THE ALUMINUM WITH PITS WITH METAL MISSING. AFTER 2 MORE WINTERS THE SALT ON THE ROADS WILL DANGEROUSLY WEAKEN THE WHEEL STRENGTH LEADING TO FAILURE AT SPEED. THIS IS A REAL HIDDEN DANGER THAT I THOUGHT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO SINCE HONDA DEALER SEES NO PROBLEM WITH THE CORRODING ALUMINUM. IF THE WHEELS WHERE SIMPLY PAINTED OR CLEAR COATED FROM THE FACTORY ON THE INSIDE LIKE THEY ARE ON THE OUTSIDE THEN THIS WOULD NOT BE BECOME THE HIDDEN DANGER THIS TYPE OF WHEEL WILL PRESENT TO THE UNSUSPECTING PUBLIC. *TR
