WHITE PAINT NEAR REAR WINDSHIELD IS PEELING OFF. *TR
THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND ON A COLD STARTUP FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 SECOND. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AT NO COST. EVEN AFTER THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM THE SOUND STILL EXISTED BUT WASN'T AS LOUD. I RECENTLY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $500 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND CLAIMED THAT THEY FIXED A DIFFERENT PROBLEM LAST TIME. THEY SAID THE ISSUE HAD TO DO WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR. NOW THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME A LOT WORSE AND THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY HONDA ACCORD 2009 V6 SERVICED FOR CONSTANT SPARK PLUG FOULING AND OIL CONSUMPTION. AFTER A TOTAL OF 10 VISITS, AND OVER 40 DAYS WITHOUT MY CAR OVER THE COURSE OF 3 YEARS, I HAD RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 3 SPARK PLUG SETS, TWO OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS, LOST TWO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, AND O2 SENSORS. EVEN WITH THIS CONSTANT SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT, IT DID NOT ALLEVIATE ANY ISSUES. I KEPT BREAKING DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH A RUMBLING, MISFIRING ENGINE. AFTER NUMEROUS TRIPS TO HONDA, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. AFTER SPEAKING TO A DISTRICT REP AND BEING REFERRED TO PARAGON HONDA IN WOODSIDE, NY, THEY HAD AGREED TO REPLACE MY ENGINE. THEY HAVE NOW HAD IT FOR TWO MONTHS. AFTER RECEIVING A NEW ENGINE, I INSTANTLY RECEIVED CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STATING THE CAR WAS RUNNING TOO LEAN. AFTER RETURNING IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK, I RECEIVED IT BACK, BUT THIS TIME, IT WOULD LITERALLY CHOKE OUT AND STALL AT EVERY OTHER RED LIGHT. I RETURNED TO HONDA WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR TOO RICH AND A CAR THAT WOULD NOT MAKE IT MORE THEN A FEW MILES IF STOP SIGNS WERE INVOLVED. IT HAS NOW BEEN THERE FOR TWO WEEKS, ON TOP OF THE TWO MONTHS. PLUS THE 40 DAYS, THAT'S A TOTAL OF 4 LOST MONTHS. I HAD TO FIGHT THIS WEEKEND FOR A LOANER CAR, WHICH FOR THEM, SEEMED LIKE A VERY DIFFICULT THING TO DO. HONESTLY, I DON'T KNOW HOW THE NHTSA HAS ALLOWED HONDA TO KEEP THEIR OIL CONSUMING DANGEROUS CARS ON THE ROAD, I HAVE BROKE DOWN IN THE LEFT LANE OF A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, AND I KNOW THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I AM A METICULOUS PERSON, WHO CONSTANTLY CHECKS HIS OWN OIL, PLUGS, FILTERS, ETC.... I MONITOR MY O2 SENSORS FOR BAD FUEL TRIMS CONSTANTLY, AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTHING BUT DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HUNK OF JUNK. I'VE FILED CONSUMER COMPLAINTS, HONDA COMPLAINTS, TO NO REGARD. *TR
PREMATURE FAILURE OF REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS @40K MILES. JUST OUTSIDE LIMITS OF HONDA BRAKE SETTLEMENT. REAR BRAKES FAILED AGAIN AT 100K WITH PADS, ROTORS, AND 1 CALIPER NEEDING REPLACEMENT.
SINCE I PURCHSED THE CAR ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES 3 TIMES AND THE ROTORS TWICE. RECENTLY I HAD TO BRING MY CAR BACK TO THE SHOP AND NOW THE AUTO SHOP IS TELLING ME I ONCE AGAIN HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKES, ROTORS AND CALIBERS. THIS ONE FIX IS COSTING ME $650. I THINK THIS IS CRAZY THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THIS OVER 3 TIMES. THEIR IS SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE DONE. THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING AND MAKING ME NOT WANT TO BUY A HONDA EVER AGAIN. I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEIR HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS ON COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONE INCIDENT AND IT COSTING HARDWORKING PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF ALOT OF MONEY OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS. *TR
GRINDING OR SQUEALING SOUNDS WHILE BRAKING IS APPLIED. BRAKE PADS WAS 100% (TOTALLY) WORN OUT AND THERE'S METAL TO METAL GRINDING CONTACT AT THE (PASSENGERS) RIGHT REAR WHEEL ROTOR, BUT THE LEFT SIDE BACK BRAKE SHOES WAS 80% WORN OUT. THE FRONT WHEELS BRAKE SHOES WAS STILL 80% THICK. *TR
2009 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AT 130K...MOST ORIGINATING AT 70-90K. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (1 QT A WEEK)! ROUGH IDLE AND ACCELERATION, 6 LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH, INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE...COMES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY.....FOULED SPARK PLUGS, TICKING NOISE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING, BRAKES MUST BE REPLACED EVERY 10K MILES, LOUD TICKING NOISE FROM ENGINE, POOR ACCELERATION WITH MISSING/SPUTTERING, SMOKE EMITS FROM TAILPIPES, VSC LIGHT STAYS ON ALONG WITH TPMS! THE LIST GOES ON AND ON...I HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO HONDA SINCE 1993 HAVING OWNED MANY, ESPECIALLY ACCORDS AND THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE....THE WORST VEHICLE EVER OWNED! DO NOT BUY HONDA...THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AND NEVER WILL! I MISSED THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BY A COUPLE OF MONTHS ON THE ENGINE MISFIRE DEAL...JUST RECENTLY WAS MADE AWARE OF IT. I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2012. FROM 2013-PRESENT, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AND ROTORS AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD MY CALIPERS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY BRAKES THAT MANY TIMES. IN THE LAST YEAR ALONE, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AND ROTORS 3 TIMES. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO REPLACE MY REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WHEN I LAST DID IT 3 OR 4 MONTHS AGO. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP FIXING THIS PROBLEM, HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE! ALSO IN JULY 2015, MY AC/HEATER STOPPED WORKING, WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUSE, SO WE REPLACED IT BUT ITS STILL NOT WORKING. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND UPSET WITH THE PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA! I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY CAR THAT I'VE OWNED.
SUDDEN SCREECHING OF REAR BRAKES AND SHORT AFTER GRINDING NOISE WHEN BREAKING. TOOK CAR TO GET BRAKES CHECKED AND HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS DUE TO CALIPERS STICKING AND MAKING INTERIOR PADS WEAR OUT COMPLETELY WHILE EXTERIOR PADS WHERE STILL GOOD. ROTORS WORN TO OR BELOW MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS. WILL HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH REAR ROTORS AND CALIPERS. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS OR CALIPERS ON ANY CAR, NOT EVEN WITH 86K MILES ON THEM AND ON THIS 2009 HONDA ACCORD EX-L I HAVE TO REPLACE THEM AT 46,413 MILES? THIS IS NOT GOOD! HONDA SHOULD PAY FOR ALL EXPENSES AND PARTS. LOWEST QUOTE TO REPLACE WITH OEM IS APPROXIMATELY $750.00 WHAT WOULD THE COST BE IF I WOULD OF NOT HEAR THE NOISE AND CHECK THE BRAKES? *TR
IN DEC/12 I NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE IN MY STEERING WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT , I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY SAID BRING IT TO THE DEALER AND THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE . SINCE I WAS NOT HOME I DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL I RETURNED SINCE IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE ( MORE OF AN ANNOYANCE) . I WENT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AND A COUPLE OF BOLTS AT A COSTS OF $800 . NOW WHILE I AM NOT A MECHANIC IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN IT WOULD DEFINITELY SOUND LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME . THERE IS EVEN A TSB ON IT FROM HONDA .AND WHILE I AM OUT OF WARRANTT HONDA ( AFTER COMPLAINING DID AGREE TO COVER THE COSTS OF PARTS APPROX 50% BUT THE BIGGER ISSUE IS THAT THEY ISSUED THIS TSB IN 09 AND THERE MUST BE A FLAW IN THE MECHANISM . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE FRONT AND REAR AIR BAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WENT TO INDEPENDENCE HONDA AND ASKED AS TO WHY BETWEEN MAINTENANCE, I WAS HAVING TO ADD OIL. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT WAS NEEDED, AND HE WOULD DOCUMENT IT. COME TO FIND OUT, THEY WERE DOING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. INDEPENDENCE HONDA CLOSED AND IS NOW LEGENDS HONDA. HE TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD FIX IT. GAVE ME A LOANER CAR. CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THEY CLAIM THEY ONLY PUT IN ABOUT A QUART PER 1000 MILES. REGARDLESS OF WHAT MY DIP STICK SHOWS. I WILL JUST NEED TO WATCH MY OIL. I'VE HAD TO HAVE MY SPARK PLUGS REPLACED TWICE IN THE YEAR. HONDA CONTINUES TO ACTIVELY CONCEAL THE DEFECT FROM CONSUMERS AND DENY THERE'S A KNOWN PROBLEM. *JB
PURCHASED A USED 2009 HONDA ACCORD FROM CARMAX IN MADISON TENNESSEE. IN DEC. 2012 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NO OIL IN ENGINE. 2009, 6 CYLINDER V-TECH. HAVE MONITORED THE OIL CONSUMPTION AFTER DEALER OVERFILLED, WITH PICTURES OF OVERFILL, WITH MILAGE AND VARIOUS PICTURES OF THE DIP STICK. THIS ENGINE HAS AN ECO SYSTEM. NO PERMANENT DAMAGE BUT DEALER ENCOURAGES AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 4000 MILES AND NOT WHAT IS IN THE MANUAL. *TR
VIBRATION IN CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55 TO 65 MPH). UNKNOWN REASON. CHECKED TIRES, ALIGNMENT, AND EVEN WHEEL RIMS AND ALL WERE OK. CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. CAUSE OR SOURCE OF VIBRATION IS STILL UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT IN TIME. *TR
I WAS DRIVING UP I-95 NORTH IN ABOUT WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA AT ABOUT 60-65MPH. SUDDENLY, I HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT AND A LOUD WIND SOUND AS IF THE WINDOW WAS OPEN. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULLED BACK MY SUNROOF SHADE, COME TO FIND THAT THE ENTIRE SUNROOF GLASS WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE SHADE BACK AND DROVE HOME AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I DID NOT WITNESS ANYTHING HITTING MY CAR, THE ONLY THING THAT I COULD DETERMINE IS THAT I HAD MY HEATER TURNED ON HIGH BECAUSE IT WAS SO COLD THAT DAY. MY ASSUMPTION IS THE EXTREME TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES AND PRESSURE THAT CAUSED MY SUNROOF TO SHATTER. *TR
I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO HONDA TODAY FOR SERVICE AND THEY TELL ME THAT I NEED REAR BRAKES. I WAS A PART OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT TWO YEARS AGO TO THIS DAY WHEN I HAD TO HAVE MY REAR BRAKES REPLACED WITH A "NEW IMPROVED" PAD. I HAD 16,527 MILES THEN AND NOW I HAVE 35,859 AND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THESE ARE REAR BRAKE PADS AND SHOULD LAST MUCH MORE THAT 17,000 MILES. DUE THIS ISSUE, MY ROTORS WERE DAMAGED BY THESE "NEW AND IMPROVED" BRAKES AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED, AGAIN. I FEEL THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HONDA SHOULD COVER AND NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAS HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE. TWO SETS OF REAR BRAKES BEFORE 36000 IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

SERVICE PERSON SAYS I NEED REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND THE ROTORS CUT. I COMPLAINED THAT THE WEAR WAS TOO PREMATURE AND SHOULD BE A SUBJECT OF MANUFACTURER'S RECALL AND SHOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE. AFTER TALKING TO TWO OTHER PERSONNEL AT THE FINDLAY HONDA HENDERSON I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. IT MUST BE MY DRIVING HABITS THAT I BRAKE HARD. OF COURSE I KNOW I DON'T. THE OTHER GUY SAYS IT'S NORMAL WEAR. I'VE HAD SEVERAL CARS AND THE NORMAL WEAR IS BEYOND 60K MILES. I'LL NEVER BUY HONDA EVER AGAIN AND WILL VOLUNTEER TO ALL NOT TO BUY HONDA CARS. I'LL ALSO PUT A SIGN ON MY REAR WINDSHIELD OF THE POOR QUALITY OF THE BRAKES. COST OF BRAKE JOB-$200. MILEAGE 32586. *TR
THERE WAS GRINDING NOISE FOR COUPLES DAYS ON AND OFF. VEHICLE WAS DROPPED AT LOCAL DEALER AND REAR BRAKE HAD TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS ONLY AT 22K MILES. CONSIDERING THAT ACCORD IS FWD, I WAS WONDERING WHY REAR BRAKE WORN OUT MUCH FASTER THAN TYPICAL LIFE TIME OF BRAKE PADS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE MECHANIC WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,243.
MY CAR USES 1 QT OIL WEEKLY AND MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN STARTING. CHANGE OIL EVERY 7,000 MILES AND HAVE TO ADD 1 QUART WEEKLY. VSA & OIL LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN AFTER CLEARING THE ERROR CODES. REPLACED THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR WHICH MALFUNCTIONED WEEKS LATER. PEARSON HONDA & WEST BROAD HONDA, RICHMOND VA INFORMED ME THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. UNBELIEVABLE AFTER READING SO MANY BLOGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM OTHER HONDA OWNERS. THIS MODEL HONDA IS A LEMON AND HONDA NEEDS TO REPAIR AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER. REPLACED WHEEL BEARING ON FRONT AND NOW THE REAR IS MAKING A LOUD NOISE. NEVER HAD A HONDA WITH THESE MANY ISSUES. WANTED TO TRADE IT FOR THE 2013 AND DEALER OFFERED ME $6,700 FOR A CAR I PAID $26,000 FOR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHILE THE GEAR WAS IN PARK AND CRASHED INTO A HOUSE WHICH PUSHED THE BEDROOM WALL AND WINDOW OUT. THE GEAR WAS STILL IN PARK AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE. THERE WERE MINOR SCRATCHES ON THE BUMPER. NO ONE IN THE HOUSE SUFFERED INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT THE TRANSMISSION OR IGNITION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,983. UPDATED 04/03/2013 *JS
REAR BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY GONE AND I ONLY HAVE 25,000 MILES IN MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH THE CAR VIBRATES AS IF THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF BALANCE. HAVE HAD THE WHEELS BALANCED TWICE IN THE PAST MONTH WITH NO CHANGE. HAD THE CAR ALIGNED WITHIN THE PAST MONTH AND DEALER SAYS THERE WAS NO CHANGE. A NEW SET OF MICHELIN MXM4 PRIMACY TIRES WERE INSTALLED IN APRIL 2012. JUST RETURNED FROM A 3000 MILE TRIP AND FOUND THE VIBRATION TO BE VERY ANNOYING. THIS IS A HONDA ACCORD 4DR EX-L V-6 HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPROACHED A TRAFFIC STOP, AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE EMITTED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE BOTH REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS A GRINDING NOISE THAT OCCURS WHEN THE IGNITION IS ACTIVATED FROM A COLD START. THE NOISE LASTS FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS AND SOUNDS LIKE THE TIMING BELT SYSTEM IS RATCHETING INTO PLACE. THIS ONLY OCCURS ON A COLD START, MEANING THE ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN RUNNING FOR 4 OR MORE HOURS. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. AN INTERNET SEARCH LOCATED HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 09-010 DATED 08/17/10 AND THEN UPDATED ON 10/21/11. THE SAFETY BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL (VTC) ACTUATOR AS BEING, "DEFECTIVE". ADDITIONAL INTERNET SEARCH IDENTIFIED THAT THE GRINDING NOISE WAS COMMON WITH THE 2009 ACCORD. I SPOKE WITH MY DEALER, HUGH WHITE HONDA, COLUMBUS, OHIO. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED WITH MY DIAGNOSIS AND NOTED THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THE VTC ACTUATOR. FURTHER, THE DEALER NOTED THAT HONDA ISSUED A 2011 SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE 2009 ACCORD TO ADDRESS COMPLAINTS OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. A SEPTEMBER 2011 NOTICE FROM HONDA IS TITLED "PRODUCT UPDATE: SOFTWARE UPDATE TO IMPROVE FUEL-INJECTOR AND VTC TIMING" THE NOTICE STATES THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR TIMING AND VTC TIMING AT COLD START MAY CREATE DEPOSITS ON THE OIL CONTROL RINGS THAT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION." STARTED HEARING REAR BRAKE SQUEAKING. MENTIONED TO DEALER WHEN GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED AT 20,493 MILES. I WAS GIVEN AN EXCUSE THAT THIS COULD BE DUE TO MY DRIVING HABITS. THE FRONT BRAKES SHOULD GO FIRST, SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN APPROVED TO COVER $150 OF THE REPAIR WHICH I DO NOT FEEL IS ADEQUATE. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEER DESIGN ERROR ON THE 2008, 2009 AND SOME 2010 HONDA ACCORDS. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM DUE TO THEIR OWN ERROR. My Honda vehicle’s engine grinds or rattles at cold start-up. Honda dealerships or manufacturer (Honda) are not cooperating and not able to fix it with the reason that my vehicle is out of warranty. I have complained several times since several years however Honda / Honda dealerships have been under playing and rejecting my complaints. This is clearly a manufacturing defect. Please do something about it.
I AM FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE AS MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND I WAS COMING OFF A RAMP BUT DRIVING IN THE SPEED LIMIT...THAT IS THE KEY. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES-BUT THE "BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING"A RELIABLE MECHANIC DID NOT DETECT ANYTHING-BUT I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOW WORKING FINE. THE MECHANIC AT THE FIRST PLACE SAID NOTHING WAS DETECTED-THERE WERE NO SIGNS VISUAL OR ELECTRONIC ( ON THE DASHBOARD)OF ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND DAMAGED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HOW WAS I TO HAVE KNOWN? THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THIS ON THE DASH AND NO SIGN OF ANYTHING. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE WAY I HANDLED THIS SITUATION. THEY ARE CHARGING ME A PRETTY PENNY AND I FEEL I HAVE A LEMON. REAR TIRES OVERHEATED TO THE POINT THAT IT WOULD BURN A HAND THAT TOUCHED IT ON 6-11-2012 (MILEAGE 46,384). SMELLED OF BURNING RUBBER. HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT REAR BRAKE CALIPER, BRAKE PAD, AND ROTOR. ON 4-18-2013 (MILEAGE 65,922) THE SAME PROBLEM ON RIGHT REAR. THIS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR. ON 6-13-2014 (MILEAGE 93,310) THE SAME OVERHEATING OCCURRED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS. THE LATEST OCCURRENCE WAS ON 3-16-2015 (MILEAGE 112,411). WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS EXAMINED IN TWO DAYS SO DO NOT YET KNOW THE DIAGNOSIS. I WAS STOPPED ON SIDE RESIDENTIAL STREET PREPARING TO TURN RIGHT ONTO MAJOR THOROUGHFARE. STARTED TO TURN RIGHT AND CAR SHOT FORWARD AS IF THE CAR WAS POSSESSED-- STRAIGHT AHEAD AND THEN VEERING LEFT. TOOK FOOT OFF GAS BUT STILL CONTINUED AT HIGH SPEED. I STRUGGLED WITH STEERING,WHICH SEEMED TO BE MORE STIFF AND NOT RESPONSIVE, FEARING I WOULD CRASH FIRST INTO THE STORES, TREES, LIGHT POLES DIRECTLY IN FRONT, THEN AS I WENT WITH THE DIRECTION IT SEEMED TO BE PULLING, AND VEERING BACK LEFT THEN RIGHT, PULLED IT BACK TO THE RIGHT ENOUGH TO GET INTO RIGHT CURBSIDE LANE. I DON'T THINK THE BRAKES RESPONDED EITHER. FINALLY SOMEHOW CONTROLLED IT ENOUGH TO PULL INTO GAS STATION, WHERE I PARKED BUT DID NOT TURN OFF THE MOTOR. I WAS AFRAID TO MOVE IT ANY MORE. CALLED AAA AND HONDA TO REPORT AND ASK WHAT TO DO. I WAS SO LUCKY THAT FOR ONCE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND NO ONE GOT HURT. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAD NO POLICE COMING AFTER ME OR SOME DRIVER WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN CURIOUS AS TO WHY I SEEMED TO BE DRIVING ERRATICALLY AND SCREAMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT SUCH HIGH SPEED. FLOOR MATS WERE NOT TOUCHING THE PEDAL. CURIOUS SIDE NOTE: AFTER I MADE TWO CALLS TO AAA AND HONDA, THE PHONE WOULD NO LONGER RESPOND. DOING THE DIAGNOSTICS, IT SAID IT HAD FULL FIVE BARS OF STRENGTH BUT KEPT GETTING "CALL FAILED" WHEN I TRIED TO CALL THEM BACK TO CHECK TOW TRUCK PROGRESS. THE HISTORY OF THOSE TWO CALLS ALSO SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN WIPED OFF MY PHONE. TOW TRUCK COULD NOT CALL ME BACK AND GOT REPORT THAT MY PHONE WAS "BUSY". FINALLY WHILE WE WERE WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK, MY HUSBAND TOOK OUT THE BATTERY COMPLETELY, REINSERTED AND IT REPROGRAMMED ITSELF. REPAIR COSTS > $385 FOR NEW PADS AND RESURFACING OF THE ROTORS THAT ARE EXPECTED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND HONDA REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED HIM TO DRIVE AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 MILES BEFORE DETERMINING IF THE FAILURE HAD BEEN CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000.
