THE 2018 ACCORDS HAVE A SYSTEM CALLED "BRAKE HOLD" WHICH IS INTENDED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHILE A VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT, SAY, A STOP-LIGHT. THE INTENT SEEMS TO BE TO ALLOW THE DRIVER TO HAVE THEIR FOOT ON THE GAS, INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM FREQUENTLY HAS AN ISSUE WHERE IT ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO CREEP. THIS, GENERALLY, SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN COLDER TEMPERATURES. ANOTHER, PATTERN OF BEHAVIOR IS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO A SLOW ROLL, THEN STOPPED (USING THE BRAKE PEDAL) AND AS SOON AS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASE, THE BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM FAILS TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN THE STOPPED POSITION. AFTER A SIGNIFICANT DELAY, THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS ENGAGED, BUT THE VEHICLES HAD, AT THAT POINT, LURCHED FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES, IF NOT OVER A FOOT. THIS INDICATES (JUST AS WITH THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM DELAYS, DISCUSSED IN OTHER COMPLAINTS) THAT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE WITH THE TIMING OF THE CONTROL SYSTEM UTILIZED IN THE BRAKE HOLD, THE SENSOR(S) OR BOTH, WHERE THE SYSTEM FAILS TO DETECT THE CONDITIONS IN REAL TIME AND REACTS IN A DELAYED MANNER. AGAIN, AS WITH OTHER ISSUES ON THE LATER HONDA MODELS, HONDA HAS FAILED TO PERFORM COMPREHENSIVE TROUBLESHOOTING OF THE ISSUE (EVEN AFTER ME TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AS INDICATED BY HONDA. THIS IS A COMPLAINT FOR A SEPARATELY OCCURRING INSTANCE.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance feature engaged without incident with the brakes warning light flashing on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the BCM software and multiple unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to THE local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing an unknown software program updated. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact ignored the warning lights and continued driving the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a second dealer; Lawley Honda (3200 E Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, (520) 333-6353) where the vehicle was diagnosed with needing an unknown computer wire to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, two days later she continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Consumer would like to withdrawal complaint.
THE BRAKE ROTORS CORRODE PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2018 AND THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED IN NOVEMBER 2019 WITH 18,000 MILES OF USE. THE REPLACEMENT ROTORS - GENUINE HONDA INSTALLED BY DEALER - ARE CORRODING AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. MILEAGE IS NOW 23,000. THE VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, THE VEHICLE WARNS POTENTIAL COLLISION AND TRIES TO BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE AND PUSH A LITTLE, THE WARNING GOES AWAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE AT 50 OR 60 MPH THE CAR WARNS AND TRIES TO BRAKE HARD. GOD KNOWS WHEN THE CAR BRAKES ONE DAY REALLY HARD AND CAUSES ACCIDENT FOR A FAULTY SENSOR. THERE'S ALWAYS NOTHING AHEAD WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING COMES. WHEN THE WARNING COMES, THERE'S ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AHEAD, SIMPLY EMPTY ROAD AHEAD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR.
MY CAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL GATE TRUNK LED LIGHT DAMAGED.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN SIGNAL LEFT AND I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP AND THE WAS A CAR TURN INTO MY STREET THE OPPOSITE LANE THOUGH AND HE TURNED MY CAR SLAM STOP UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING MY PASSI G TO JERK AND I HARD STRAIN OUR NECKS! WHIP LASH OVER NOTHING SO DANGEROUS! ALSO ONE TIME ENTERING THE HIGHWAY I SLOW OR WAS COMING TO A STOP FOR NOTHING! SWNSOR IS OFF!
MY 2018 HONDA ACCORD HAS A HUMMING/DRONING NOISE THAT BASED ON MY RESEARCH IS COMING FROM THE ANTI NOISE SYSTEM (ANS). THIS IS A COMMON AND ANNOYING PROBLEM AMONGST ACCORD OWNERS. PLEASE HELP...LOVE THE CAR OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTS FLASHING. CAR STOPS ACCELERATING I LIMP OVER TO THE MEDIAN. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. THE CAR HAS A SOLID CHECK ENGINE ON ALONG WITH ALL THE ASSISTING LIGHTS ON. THE CAR ACCELERATES LIKE NORMAL AND WHEN I GET HOME I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND EVERYTHING CLEARS ONCE I RECONNECT. IN ANOTHER INSTANCE I GO TO TURN MY CAR ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON BUT THE VEHICLE WON'T GO PAST 1500 RPMS AND IT'S BASICALLY IN LIMP MODE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN TO GO ALONG WITH ROAD DEPARTURE SYSTEM, VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM, TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING, BRAKE SYSTEM, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, HILL START ASSIST, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL , COLLISION MITIGATION AND EMISSION SYSTEM WARNINGS ALL LIGHT UP. I DID THE SAME THING DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND AGAIN THEY ALL GO AWAY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH. AT LEAST 9 TIMES WHERE ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ONCE WHEN I'M TRAVELING AS EXPLAINED AND 2 TIMES WHERE IT GOES INTO LIMP MODE FROM THE START. TOOK VEHICLE TO A FRIEND AND GOT A P0303 CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. HAVING DONE RESEARCH OF THE CODE NOTICED THAT 2012-2018 HONDA'S HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES ADDRESSED BY A BULLETIN AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THOSE VEHICLES. MY CAR HAS 70K AND IT'S CURRENTLY OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THANK YOU.
THE HOOD ON THE 2018 HONDA ACCORD VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (NOT A LITTLE, BUT SIGNIFICANTLY). TWO SEPARATE BODY SPECIALISTS TRIED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENT WHICH RESULTED IN SLIGHTLY BETTER FIT, BUT STILL, THE HOOD VIBRATES (AGAIN, NOT A LITTLE, BUT AN UNSETTLING AMOUNT) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HONDA ALREADY HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PILOT MODEL'S HOOD: HTTPS://HONDA.OEMDTC.COM /711/HOOD-FLUTTER-OR-VIBRATION-AT-HIGHWAY-SPEEDS-2016-2019-HONDA-PILOT-2017-2019-RIDGELINE AND NOW, 2018+ OWNERS ARE STARTING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE HOOD STABILITY AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS WELL. WHEN I HAD INITIALLY RAISED THE ISSUE WITH AMERICAN HONDA, THEY IGNORED IT (AND, AS THEY ALWAYS DO, TOLD ME TO GO TO THE DEALER). SINCE THEN, HONDA HAS DONE NOTHING TO TRULY ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. AN INVESTIGATION (AND A POSSIBLE RECALL) SHOULD BE INITIATED.
PASSENGER REAR BRAKE PAD ON CALIPER SIDE IS WORN TO WEAR INDICATOR. ALL OTHER PADS FRONT AND REAR ARE NORMAL. CALIPER APPEARS TO BE FAULTY AS IT WAS LOCKED INTO POSITION AGAINST ROTOR AND ONLY THAT PAD WAS WORN

THE INFOTAINMENT UNIT IN THE 2018 HONDA ACCORD EARLY ON EXHIBITED A NUMBER OF ISSUES, ONE OF THEM BEING, POOR CONNECTIVITY VIA BLUETOOTH. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING WRONG BATTERY STATUS FOR THE CONNECTED DEVICE.

WHEN I DRIVE IT SMELLS COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS SMELL LIKE CARBON MONOXIDE SMELL WEIRD... SMELL REALLY DANGEROUS
My brakes are very sensitive. Every time you brake it brakes hard. When I brake at 50 mph the steering wheel and brakes vibrate. I never had a car with this problem and I have had Honda's my whole life and never had this problem. I don't know if its because of the new electronic braking system but it sucks. This will be my last time buying a Honda due to this horrible braking problem. Every time I notify Honda service they tell me that's how the braking system is. Well its HORRIBLE. Got me looking like I am break checking somebody and making me seem like I can't brake or drive good. Honda really needs to fix this problem.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, WHEN IT ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS RELATING THIS FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V771000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION, VISIBILITY/WIPER, VISIBILITY, EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF COLUMBIA (4333 SUNSET BLVD, LEXINGTON, SC 29072) WHERE THE RECALL WAS SERVICED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,200.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
PURCHASED IN MAY 2019. CURRENTLY < 50,000 MILES. ALL SERVICE PERFORMED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO BEGAN TO NOTICE GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, THOUGH IT WAS COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE/OTHER VEHICLES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON LAST WEEK. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, WAS TOLD THE FUEL INJECTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, CYLINDER 3 ISSUE. LAST RESORT WAS TO DO A FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING SERVICE, HAD THAT DONE. TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. I AM NOT CONVINCED THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS THAT REQUIRED A RECALL FOR MANY 2018 ACCORDS WITH 2.0T ENGINES ARE NOT ALSO IMPACTING 1.5T ENGINES.
WHILE DRIVING, ON THREE ACCOUNTS MY HONDS ACCORD INDEPENDENTLY APPLIED BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON GAS PETAL. THE CAR SLOWED JERKED AND STOPPED. IT REGAINED SPEED AFTER I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OR BACK OR IN BACK OF THE CAR.NO WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. OUR AND OTHERS SAFTY WAS AT RISK WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH NO INPUT FROM DRIVER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED TWICE BY WESTBROOK HONDA WHERE IT WAS BOUHGT NEW. THEY INSTALLED NEW BRAKES ON THE CAR WITH 20 THOUSAND MILES DRIVEN SAYING THIS WAS NORMAL. NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN SUGGESTED OTHER THAN THERE WERE LEAVES IN THE WAY OF THE CAMERA. THEY DROVE THE CAR WITH NO ISSUE AND TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM .
THE CMBS (COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM) HAD ANOTHER FAILURE. THIS IS DUE TO THE RADAR SENSOR BEING BLOCKED AND THEN OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE HAVING CASCADING FAILURES. LAST WINTER, THE RADAR SENSOR HAD FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY AND I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY, SUPPOSEDLY, PERFORMED SOME SORT OF AN ADJUSTMENT. DURING A PHONE CALL WITH A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE, THE REPRESENTATIVE CLAIMED THAT "THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN." HOWEVER, WHAT HAPPENS NOW IS I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE CLAIMING THAT THERE IS A FAILURE IN THE CMBS SYSTEM, EVERY TIME THE RADAR SENSOR IS BLOCKED, DIRECTING ME TO "TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER." HENCE, SHE LIED. FURTHERMORE, THE FAILURES INDICATE HONDA'S FAILURE IN PRODUCING A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT IS RELIABLE IN A WIDE RANGE OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. HONDA CEO RECENTLY CLAIMED THAT HONDA WILL BE PRODUCING LEVEL 3 AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES. THAT IS HORRIFYING, CONSIDERING HONDA CAN'T EVEN MAKE A CMBS AND A RADAR SENSOR THAT DOES NOT FAIL CONSTANTLY. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE HONDA RECALL ALL THE MODELS WHICH USE THE RADAR SENSOR AND THE CMBS THAT IS SIMILAR TO THE ONE IN THE 2018 ACCORD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT. PLEASE.

The 2018 Accords have a system called "Brake Hold" which is intended to engage the braking system while a vehicle is stopped at, say, a stop-light. The intent seems to be to allow the driver to have their foot on the gas, instead of the brake pedal. The Brake Hold system frequently has an issue where it allows the vehicle to creep. This, generally, seems to happen in colder temperatures. Another, pattern of behavior is when the vehicle has been brought to a slow roll, then stopped (using the brake pedal) and as soon as the brake pedal is release, the Brake Hold system fails to hold the vehicle in the stopped position. After a significant delay, the Brake System is engaged, but the vehicles had, at that point, lurched forward several inches, if not over a foot. This indicates (just as with the Collision Mitigation System delays, discussed in other complaints) that there is a significant issue with the timing of the control system utilized in the Brake Hold, the sensor(s) or both, where the system fails to detect the conditions in real time and reacts in a delayed manner. Again, as with other issues on the later Honda models, Honda has failed to perform comprehensive troubleshooting of the issue (even after me taking the vehicle to the dealer as indicated by Honda. This is a complaint for a separately occurring instance of this issue.
ON TWO OCCASIONS WHEN PARKED AND IN ACCESSORY MODE FOR A FEW MINUTES ALL DASHBOARD AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING WILDLY AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING APPEARED. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. AFTER EXITING THE CAR AND RETURNING LATER, THE CAR STARTED AS NORMAL.
FOR SECOND TIME ALL SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AFTER STARTING ENGINE INCLUDING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. THIS OCCURRED ONCE BEFORE AND TOOK TO DEALER FOR A RESET.
The hood on the 2018 Honda Accord vibrates at highway speeds (not a little, but significantly). Two separate body specialists tried to make adjustment which resulted in slightly better but, but still, the hood vibrates (again, not a little, but an unsettling amount) at highway speeds. When I had initially raised the issue with American Honda, they ignored it (and, as they always do, told me to go to the dealer). Since then, Honda has done nothing to truly address the problem. An investigation (and a possible recall) should be initiated.
WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A CITY STREET USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, MY ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL TURNED OFF SUDDENLY. THERE ARE NO OBSTRUCTIONS TO MY HONDA SENSORS NOR WERE THERE ANY INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS.
I HAVE CHANGED TWO BATTERIES SINCE I BOUGHT IT FIRST BATTERY THAT IT CAME WITH COMPLETELY DIED AND COULDN'T EVEN GET A JUMP. CHANGED IT AND NOW I HAVE TO KEEP GETTING JUMP EVERYDAY. MY WINDSHIELD HAS ALSO CRACKED TWICE FROM PASSENGER SIDE TO DRIVER SIDE. NO PUNCTURE MARK INDICATING SOMETHING HIT IT.
EARLY ON, AFTER BUYING THE 2018 HONDA ACCORD IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT THE HOOD ON THE VEHICLE VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THEN UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR HAD BEEN HIT BY HAIL STORM. THE HOOD HAD TO BE REPLACED (AT LEAST, ACCORDING TO THE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK). THE REPLACEMENT WAS PURCHASED FROM A HONDA DEALER AND PERTAINED TO BE OEM PART. RIGHT AWAY IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE HOOD DOES NOT FIT CORRECTLY (WITHOUT ANY OBVIOUS WAY TO ADJUST THE FIT). A SECOND OEM HOOD WAS ORDERED WITH THE SAME LACK OF TOLERANCES. FOLLOWING THE INSTALLATION AND RE-PAINTING OF THE HOOD, TWO SEPARATE BODY SPECIALISTS TRIED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENT WHICH RESULTED IN SLIGHTLY BETTER FIT, BUT STILL, THE HOOD (JUST AS THE ORIGINAL) VIBRATES (NOT A LITTLE, BUT AN UNSETTLING AMOUNT) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ON 10/29/2020, WHILE CHANGING LANES, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY CUT THE POWER AND SLAMMED THE BRAKES, WHILE FLASHING "BRAKE" ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THERE WERE NO VEHICLE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY IN THE LANE IN TO WHICH THE CHANGE WAS PERFORMED. THE RADAR SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE HAS PREVIOUSLY CAUSE A NUMBER OF ISSUES AND THIS WAS AN EXTREME CASE OF THE CMBS (COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKE SYSTEM) REACTING IMPROPERLY. THE VEHICLE DECELERATION WAS ABRUPT TO THE POINT OF POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE INCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE NEW LANE IMPACTING THE VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. HONDA'S REPRESENTATIVES HAD SWORN LAST WINTER, WHEN THE RADAR SENSOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED TO THE POINT OF CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT CASCADED TO SEVERAL OF THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT "ISSUES WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN." THAT WAS A LIE. CURRENTLY, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA RELATED TO THE SAFETY SYSTEM IN THE CR-V MODELS: HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/NEWS/2020/HONDA-CR-V-SENSING-LAWSUIT-SUVS-SUDDENLY-STOP.SHTML CONSIDERING THAT THE SIMILAR RADAR SENSORS ARE USED IN THE PILOT, ODYSSEY, ACCORD AND THE CR-VS, AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL SHOULD BE LAUNCHED FOR THE MAJORITY OF HONDA MODEL PRODUCED SINCE 2016. AGAIN, THE SYSTEM HAS MALFUNCTIONED A NUMBER OF TIMES, WITH HONDA FAILING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE PROPERLY UPON SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND VISITS TO A DEALER.
INTERMITTENLY (I.E. EVERY SO MANY HUNDREDS OF MILES), THE VEHICLE HAS EXTREMELY VIOLENT SHIFTS AT LOW SPEEDS (2-20 MILES), WHERE UPON SHIFTS IT ALMOST FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RE-ENDED. HONDA HAS NOT PROPERLY INVESTIGATED ISSUE AS THEIR USUAL M.O. IS TO SEND THE CUSTOMER TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS FOR "TROUBLESHOOTING" WHICH, OF COURSE, IS NOT SUFFICIENT TIME-SPAN FOR THE ISSUE TO MANIFEST ITSELF. AS WITH A NUMBER OF OTHER ISSUES IN THE 2016-2020 HONDA MODELS, HONDA HAS NOT PROPERLY INVESTIGATED THIS ISSUE AND IT IS ANOTHER POTENTIAL FORESHADOWING OF A MASS FAILURE JUST AS HONDA HAD WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THE 2000-2017 TIME SPAN. The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. In this case, there was "phantom braking", whereby the car abruptly applied breaks without an abstruction in fron of the vehicle. I have filed several complaints with NHTSA and, yes, "have taken the vehicle to the dealer" more than once for issues with the CMBS, to no avail. Not only that, but since then, there has been a class action lawsuit against Honda for the related issue(s). Yet, NHTSA still has not issued a recall on all the CRVs, Accords, Pilots and Odysseys which all use similar version of this system.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME DRIVING AND HAD THE VEHICLE AUTOMATIC BRAKES COME ON AND STOP IT SELF. EACH TIME 1 MONTH APART. AUGUST 24TH 2020 TOOK INTO MISLIN HONDA IN MODESTO BECAUSE REAR BRAKES WERE ALSO MAKING NOISE. FOUND OUT RIGHT REAR INNER PAD WAS COMPLETELY WORN. MENTIONED ALSO THE AUTO BREAKING ISSUE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A DUE TO THE KNOWN BRAKE CALIPER ISSUE. CALIPER AND BRAKE PAD WERE REPLACED AND WAS TOLD SENSORS WERE RESET AND SHOULD FIX AUTO BRAKING PROBLEM. RETURNED A MONTH LATER BECAUSE OF REAR BRAKE NOISE AGAIN WAS TOLD BRAKES WERE LUBED AND ROTORS RESURFACED. TONIGHT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING GOING 40MPH NO CARS IN SIGHT VEHICLE BRAKE MESSAGE CAME ON AND BRAKES SLAMMED ON CAUSING OUR DOG TO GO FLYING INSIDE OF CAR. CAR IS AT 35950 MILES 2018 AND CLOSE TO BEING OUT OF WARRANTY FEELS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE

IN SOME INSTANCES, IT SEEMS THAT THE VENTILATION SYSTEM IS POTENTIALLY PULLING NOXIOUS FUMES IN FROM THE ENGINE BAY AND IN OTHERS, THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MOISTURE RETENTION WHEN AC IS RUN. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO FORCE FOUL SMELLING AIR IN TO THE CAB. HONDA HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY TROUBLESHOOT THE ISSUE (I.E. RETAIN THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN A FEW HOURS AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM OR SOMETHING ELSE).
IT SEEMS THAT MY REMOTE STARTER IS CAUSING ERRORS. OCCASIONALLY WHEN I USE IT DURING COLD WEATHER. I TRY TO START REMOTELY AND IT STARTS FOR A SECOND AND THEN CUTS OFF. I GET IN AND NOTICE SEVERAL MAINTENANCE ALARMS TELLING ME TO SEE A DEALER WHEN I START THE NORMAL WAY. ALL SAFETY FEATURES SEEM TO BE DISABLED BUT STILL DRIVEABLE.THE ONLY WAY TO ERASE THESE CODES IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THEN I CAN GO SEVERAL TIMES WITH OUT IT HAPPENING AGAIN. I TOOK TO DEALERS AND THEY FOUND NO ISSUES, I TOLD THEM TO JUST REPLACE THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THAT WASNT RECOMMENDED. I THOUGHT IT HELPED, BUT THEN THE ISSUED OCCURRED AGAIN A WEEK LATER. IT IS SCHEDULED TO BE LOOK AT BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP.
COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM' (CMBS'), FAILED. DURING DRIVING ALL OF SUDDEN AMBER LIGHTS OF COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM' (CMBS'), WERE TURNED ON AND DISABLE THE ASSISTANCE SAFETY TECHNOLOGY FEATURES THAT HELP PREVENT COLLISIONS USING VEHICLE SENSORS.
AT 49,000 MILES I'M ON MY SECOND SET OF TIRES AND NEEDING A NEW SET. MY SERVICEMAN RECOMMENDED I ADD A CAMBER KIT TO MY CAR IN THE REAR (REAR WHEELS) OR I'LL HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING MY TIRES. THIS IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVE MY TIRES CHECKED AND ROTATED EVERY OIL CHANGE.
CAR LOST COMPLETE ENGINE POWER AND WAS IN TRAFFIC, IN MOTION AND LUCKILY COULD COAST INTO PARKING LOT. HONDA IS CLAIMING A MODIFIED ECU AND IS DISPUTING WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED CAR SINCE NEW AND HAVE NEVER MODIFIED ANYTHING ON THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED BY ME AND ONLY HAS 48,914 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. A HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED IT SO FAR AS HAVING A BROKEN SPARK PLUG TIP AND THE PISTON IS NOT MOVING UP AND DOWN -CYLINDER 1.

2018 HONDA ACCORD WITH 10 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A VERY VIOLENT UPSHIFT AT LOW SPEEDS (TAKING OFF FROM THE PARKING LOT). THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND, OF COURSE, A DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AS THEY ONLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR, MAYBE, AN HOUR, WHILE THE ISSUE OCCURS EVERY SO MANY HUNDREDS OF MILES (CAN'T QUITE PIN DOWN THE EXACT INTERVAL).
The lane departure warning activated when centered in a lane with clearly marked lines on the road and the steering wheel started pulling me out of the lane on a major highway. Within 5 seconds of the initial warning a follow up warning saying "Road Departure" appears and the car initiated automatic breaking in the middle of a highway. There are not other cars around me at the time of the incident, but this could have caused a major accident as my car slammed on the breaks at 55 MPH. At no time did the car leave the lane despite the warnings. I reported this to the dealership and was told they would look into this if it happened again.
The vehicle gave me a warning for the emergency breaking and began to aggressively brake for no reason. This has happened to me three separate times. Case 1: There were no cars in front of me, a few cars behind but not too close. The vehicle slammed on the breaks from ~50mph to ~25mph aggressively. Thankfully I was not hit, only received a few angry honks from other drivers. Case 2: Driving on the highway at 60-65mph, vehicle slowed down to 30-35mph or so, i was afraid i was going to end up in the hospital if i caused a wreck. Cars were around in other lanes and nobody was in front of me in the 2nd lane. I got off the highway to take a few deep breaths, called the Honda Dealership in Ferndale, Michigan. Dropped my car off a few times to get it looked at, the service department was "unable to duplicate the event" and sent me on my way. I work in front camera modules/windshields releasing at another automotive company so i have experience with this item. I asked for my case to be forwarded to an engineer at honda to help explain the situation and to be connected to them, no luck. Case 3 similar to case 1, but a busier road. Distance was kept from vehicle in front, but my vehicle still decided to "break-check" the car behind me. This was a close one. Now, I typically drive the vehicle with the auto braking feature off (it may not be completely off but i turned it off from the steering wheel menu options). I own a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L 2.0t. All these cases happened around 28,000miles-40,000miles (two of three cases under warranty, vehicle was taken in 2-3 times during warranty and the last time the dearlership didn't even consider trying to find out the issue once they saw my history of already bringing it in). The front camera module camera void on the windshield was clean and clear 3of3 times, the grille had some dirt/residue 1of3 times which is what the dealership blamed it on. I have received no support for my claims, hence I am reporting it here. Disappointed...
GRINDING OF REAR BRAKES WHEN DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED 1 OF 4 REAR INNER BRAKE PADS WAS WORN. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS IN 2020 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. DEALER TREATED SYMPTOM BY REPLACING WORN PAD
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle lost motive power, shuttered, and jerked making it difficult to steer the vehicle. A warning message appeared on the screen stating “power steering disabled”. The contact was able to merge the vehicle to the side of the road, restart the vehicle, and the message disappeared however, the failure recurred several times. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
I WAS DRIVING THE OTHER NIGHT AT 9PM. DRY CONDITIONS AND ABOUT 65 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I HAD PULLED UP TO A STOP SIGN AND AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP BY CAR STARTED SENDING ME WARNING NOTICES. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. I WAS TOLD I PROBABLY HAD BUGS ON ONE OF THE FRONT SENSORS ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER A GOOD CLEANING OF THISE AREAS THIS STILL DIDN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE HONDA IS KNOWN FOR IT'S SAFETY BUT THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S NOT THE CASE ANYMORE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRESS FRACTURE IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT OCCURRED WITHOUT AN IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED BY CROWN HONDA OF SOUTHPOINT (1001 SOUTHPOINT AUTOPARK BLVD, DURHAM, NC 27713; (984) 300-4924). THE CONTACT STATED THAT FIVE DAYS AFTER THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED, THE NEW WINDSHIELD HAD A STRESS FRACTURE AS WELL. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE SAME DEALER, WHO INQUIRED IF THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN SPORT MODE AT THE TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN SPORT MODE THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT THE SECOND INCIDENT. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL CRACKING SOUND. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD STARTED TO FRACTURE FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO IMPACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,135.
The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.
Rough downshifting and upshifting in low gears. Will slam into gears 2-3 often seems as though at slower speeds and cause driver and passengers to lurch forward. Will cause very rough acceleration at times and causes a danger in traffic given the speed becomes unpredictable. Transmission does not know what gear to be in. The ATF type 2.0 fluid change following dealer procedure after complaint has done nothing to change this lurching. This is putting me and other drivers at risk because I cannot control my speed when transmission is slamming in between gears. No warning lamps, undetected by cars TCU.
