THE SEALS AROUND THE DOORS, WEATHER STRIPPING IS COMING LOSE, SEATS ARE FALLING APART, THE RADIO AND NAVIGATION SCREEN WILL GO BLACK AND REBOOT ITSELF. THE COLLISION CONTROL SYSTEM WILL GET YOU KILLED IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL. I WAS GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, HAD MY TURN SIGNAL ON. AS I'M MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 50 MPH, THE CAR THINKS I'VE FALLEN ASLEEP OR SOMETHING. THE CAR FORCIBLY TAKES ME BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND DOWNSHIFTS THE CAR WHILE BRAKING? SCARED ME TO DEATH. I WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A TURN SIGNAL ON. LUCKILY IT WAS 3AM OR I COULD'VE BEEN SMASHED. ALSO, THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL FLASH AT TIMES, NO ONE IS IN FRONT OF YOU. OR IT FLASHES LIKE YOU'RE ABOUT TO HIT SOMEONE BUT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING BUT FLASH. ALSO, IF YOU DRIVE ANY LENGTH, IT SYSTEM WILL STATE THAT THE DRIVER HAS LOW ATTENTION SPAN. NOT SURE WHY, IT'S NOT LIKE I'M WEAVING. I THINK THE CAR NEEDS TO FEEL SOME MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING OR IT THINKS YOU'RE NODDING OFF. THE CAR SALESMAN WARNED ME THAT THE NEW BELLS AND WHISTLES, TECHNOLOGY, COULD HAVE ISSUES BECAUSE THE TECH IS NEW BUT NOTHING SPECIFIC. TRY TO SELL ME 3800 IN WARRANTY TO COVER TECH. THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE AT THE TIME. NOW, I'M THINKING THAT HE KNEW SPECIFICS AND DIDN'T SHARE.
THE PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE STARTED THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT IN NOVEMBER 2018. I HAVE FOUR DOCUMENTED CASES WITH THE DEALERSHIP. AS WELL AS 7 VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENT TAKEN PLACE WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE TACHOMETER AND ENTIRE DASHBOARD, INCLUDING ENTERTAINMENT CENTER, SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHILE USING THE GPS. THE SYSTEM REBOOTS ITSELF WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. HONDA CORPORATE IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAD NOT PROVIDED A FIX FOR THE ISSUE TO DATE, DESPITE REPRESENTATIONS THAT SUCH FIXES WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY FALL OF LAST YEAR. I ALSO HAVE VOICEMAIL FROM THE SERVICE AND PARTS DIRECTOR OF THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTING FAULT AND NO FIXES FOR THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE I CAN SHARE. FOR "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?", I HAVE PUT THE APPROXIMATE LAST TIME THIS ISSUE AROSE. THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING AND HAS BEEN SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2018. ONLY THE REAR BRAKE PADS HAVE COMPLETELY DEPLETED WITHOUT ANY OF THE OTHER ONES BEING CLOSE TO DEPLETING. ROTOR IS NOW GRINDING ON METAL BACKING PLATE OF PAD. CAR HAS BEEN IN NORMAL USE FOR 70,000 MI.
The hood on the 2018 Honda Accord vibrates at highway speeds (not a little, but significantly). Two separate body specialists tried to make adjustment which resulted in slightly better but, but still, the hood vibrates (again, not a little, but an unsettling amount) at highway speeds. SOMETIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR WILL STALL MOMENTARILY, JOLTING ME UNTIL IT RECOVERS AND NORMAL SPEED IS RESUMED. RECOVERY IS A FEW SECONDS BUT THE STALL IS SIGNIFICANT.
When the engine is shut down, there is a squeak (have not been able to pinpoint the source). However, prior history on the vehicle considered, wanted to make a record. The vehicle has always had a burning smell to it and, at one point, a dealer's mechanic did replace the head gasket, claiming that was the source of the burning smell. However, the burning smell still persists and I've been wondering if something more serious is going on (as one mechanic did say, there is a possibility of the turbo burning oil due to some defect). Hence, the squeak is suspicious due to that.
2018 HONDA ACCORD. SAT IN DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT, NORMAL WEATHER, REAR WINDOW FINE AT 7PM AND AT 7AM IT WAS SHATTERED. NO VISIBLE REASON AS TO WHY IT WOULD HAVE SHATTERED. WINDOW HAD TINT ON IT SO WINDOW STAYED INTACT. EDGES ALL AROUND WERE BREAKING AWAY.
ON AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE THE AUTOMATIC BRAKE SYSTEM KICKS ON AND WILL VIOLENTLY STOP THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. EACH TIME THERE HAS BEEN NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME OR EVEN NEAR ME THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO OCCUR. ADDITIONALLY, EACH TIME I WAS NOT GOING ANY FASTER THAN 45-50 MILE PER HOUR. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE CAR BEHIND ME NEARLY REAR-ENDED ME BUT AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY QUICKLY SHIFTING OVER TO THE NEXT LANE. THIS ACTION OF COURSE CAUSED A POTENTIAL ROAD RAGE EXCHANGE BECAUSE THE DRIVER HAD NO IDEA MY CAR HAD MALFUNCTIONED.
THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED EXCESSIVE GAS/OIL SMELL HALFWAY THROUGH THE OIL CHANGE CYCLE EVEN WHEN THE MAINTENANCE MINDER SHOWS 70% OIL LIFE. THE SMELL OCCURS WHEN DRIVING IN THE MIDWEST AND CAUSES THE GARAGE TO SMELL LIKE AN OIL/GAS MIXTURE. OIL DILUTION HAS BEGUN OCCURRING EVEN WHEN PROVIDED ENOUGH TIME TO WARM UP.
CAR ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, NO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEMS SHUTS DOWN. THIS HAS OCCURRED DURING BOTH DAY AND NIGHT TIME AND HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES. THE RADAR PANEL WAS NOT OBSTRUCTED. THE CMBS CAN ONLY BE RESET BY STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SUPPORT WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE CONTACTED AT LEAST TWO DEALER SERVICE CENTERS WITH THIS PROBLEM, NO RESOLUTION. THEY SAY THEY NEED TO SEE THE ERROR CODE - PROBLEM IS, THE WARNING RESETS WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER CUSTOMERS ON THE CAR COMPLAINTS WEBSITE. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON 06 FEB 2020. THE CMBS HAS SHUT DOWN AT DIFFERENT MILEAGES, BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE CARS WARRANTY.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON 14 SOUTH MY SPEED WAS 55 TO 60 I HEAR LOTS SOUND AND CAR WAS NOT IN MY CONTROL I FEEL MY REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL CAME OUT AND I ALMOST DIE RIM WAS BROKE DURING DRIVE
The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Honda CEO recently claimed that Honda will be producing Level 3 autonomous vehicles. That is horrifying, considering Honda can't even make a CMBS and a Radar Sensor that does not fail constantly. Please, please, please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.
THIS CAR ALMOST KILLED ME ON HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING 70 MILES/H IT DECIDED TO TAP BREAKS BY ITSELF(SLOW DOWN) THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT RESPOND IT WAS NOT ANY CAR IN FRONT OF ME.I TOOK IT TO A DEALER THEY RESTARTED THE SYSTEM SAID EVERYTHING IT'S FINE NOW BUT DID NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM THE SAME DAY I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH IT.I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IN IT.
ACCORD ACCELERATES TO SURGE AT RANDOM - IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES. TWO TIMES WHEN WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, ONE TIME ON THE STREET, AND ONE TIME WAS WHEN WE WERE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT! WE HAD TO BRAKE VERY, VERY HARD, AND USE OUR EMERGENCY BRAKE! WE ARE LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS IN THE CROSS-WALK WHEN THIS OCCURRED. AS YOU SEE IN THE ATTACHED RECEIPT, THE PROBLEM IS THE TAPE USED WHEN OUR ACCORD WAS BUILT. THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ONCE PER MONTH AT THEIR LOCATION WHERE CARS ARE BROUGHT IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE WIRES ARE FAULTY BECAUSE RODENTS ARE ATTRACTED TO CHEW ON THE CARS WIRES SPECIFICALLY. WHEN WE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AND HAS MADE RAT TAPE TO ADDRESS IT, BUT THAT HONDA IS WAITING TO HIT A CERTAIN NUMBER NUMBERS OF COMPLAINTS SO THAT IT IS ENOUGH TO MEET ITS THRESHOLD BEFORE ISSUING A FULL RECALL.
There are a lot of boxes it would not let me check. Started 2020. For no apparent reason the car will just lose all power and all the warning lights will go on. Some times it will just automatically break. Luckily the times it's happened I was city driving but had I been on freeway when it happened may have been dealt for myself and others. Car continues to have same problem, with losing power,all warning lights and breaks. If the 10amp fuse is out it does it. As you can see I've taken numerous times and paid lots of money. I was only aware of 2 recalls and would like to know about the others. I have a lot more to say.
THE PAINT IS COMING OFF IN SPOTS AND IS SHOWING RUST. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND CLEANED REGULARLY. THE SPOTS ARE ON THE BACK TRUNK, BACK BUMPER, SIDES BY THE BACK DOORS, BY THE WHEEL WELLS IN FRONT AND BACK.
INSIDE OF CAR STARTED RUSTING TOLD DEALERSHIP STARTING IN FEB 2020 JUST KNOW CHECKING CAR ARE TRYING TO SAY THAT WE SUBMERGED CAR IN WATER AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT THEY SAID IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE
I am leasing a 2018 Honda Accord Touring with dark blue paint. Approximately 1 year after leasing I began to notice the paint chipping off in the roof gutter rails in a few spots near the rear window. The paint chipping has begun to progressively worse and I notified the Honda dealership in Signal Hill, CA during a service visit. They gave me information to take it to their preferred body shop to fix and informed me that there have been a few problems with Accords paint peeling from 2018. I have gotten an estimate and am awaiting a response from Honda on whether they will cover the repair which is estimated at $1600 as they will have to strip the entire roof to fix. I would like this noted as this is a manufacturing defect. I live in Southern California and the car is inside when parked.
The A/C blows only cold air all the way to 72F. Others online are experiencing similar issues
THE CAR HAD A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL IN CABIN WHEN STARTING ON VARIOUS OCCASSIONS. THE CAR ALSO TEMPORARILY STALLED AND LOST POWER WHEN COMING TO A CORNER TURNING AND ALSO THREE TIMES WHEN COMING OFF THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS WARMED UP AND IN CALIFORNIA DURING THE WARM WEATHER. DEALER NOTED FUEL SMELL IN OIL AND INCREASED OIL LEVEL. HAD OIL CHANGED AND WAS TOLD A FIX WAS COMING SOON. TOOK CAR IN TO DEALER MONTHS LATER FOR A RECALL, A BCM RECALL AND AGAIN I TOLD THEM THAT THE OIL SMELLED OF FUEL AFTER 500 MILES SINCE OIL CHANGE. WAITING FOR MANAGER TO CALL ME BACK WITH UPDATE ON FIX. IT IS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD 1.5 LITR TURBO. 26,000 MILES ON MOTOR. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE DEALER IN JANUARY 2020.

I WENT ON A 200 MILE TRIP YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY SPEED 60-80 MPH I FELT LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL WAS KINDA STICKY WHEN I WAS TRYING TO DO MINOR CORRECTIONS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. AND WHEN I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT WAS LIKE FREE PLAY AND CAR WAS SWERVING LEFT OR RIGHT. I HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH ME IT FELT LIKE I PUT HER LIFE IN DANGER. IT ONLY HAPPENED FOR FIRST TIME. USUALLY I DRIVE THIS CAR IN CITY WILL TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK. ALL IN ALL IT'S VERY SERIOUS AND SCARY ISSUE. I WON'T BE SURPRISED IF THERE HAVE BEEN SOME CRASHES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE ENTERING VEHICLE THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD FRACTURED AT THE TRIM LINE INTO THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO AN IMPACT. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000 THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IN JANUARY ,I MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED ON ME AND STOP RUNNING. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE, AND I FELT LIKE I PUT MYSELF AND 2 OTHER PASSENGERS IN DANGER. I TOOK IT INTO MY DEALER COGGIN HONDA IN FORT PIERCE FLORIDA TO BE CHECKED. THEY FOUND NO OBVIOUS REASON FOR THIS STALL. SOMETIME LATER, I READ ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP THAT DESCRIBED MY EVENT EXACTLY AS I HAD EXPERIENCED IT. WHEN I CHECKED THE RECALL, MY VIN # [XXX] IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER AND YOUR PUBLIC RELATIONS THAT SAID THEY CAN NOT REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE ITS NOT ON THE LIST. I HAVE SAFELY DRIVEN HONDAS FOR MANY YEARS BUT WITH THIS SITUATION I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HESITATE TO TRADE IT IN FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DRIVE. CAN YOU HELP ME AND GIVE MY DEALER PERMISSION TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THIS FUEL PUMP AT YOUR EXPENSE AS IT SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST ? ON HIGHWAY, STEERING WHEEL LIGHTLY "LOCKS INTO A NOTCH". GENTLY APPLYING PRESSURE GRADUALLY WILL BREAK IT LOOSE, BUT CAUSES THE CAR TO LIGHTLY SWERVE WHEN IT DOES (NOTICEABLE TO PASSENGERS). THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FOLLOW A LEFT OR RIGHT CURVE OR WHEN KEEPING THE CAR IN THE LANE ON A STRAIGHTAWAY. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH LESS APPARENT WHEN LKAS IS ENGAGED. PROBLEM APPEARED ON 2018 ACCORD AT APPROX 10,000 MILES. PROBLEM APPEARED SUDDENLY AND WAS NOT PRECEEDED BY ANYTHING OUT THE ORDINARY. PROBLEM SO FAR OCCURED 2 DAYS CONSECUTIVELY. PROBLEM SHOWS UP AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH AND AFTER CAR HAS BEEN AT THAT SPEED FOR OVER APPROX 3 MINUTES. AT SPEEDS UNDER 40 MPH THE PROBLEM DOES NOT EXIST.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle lost power and became inoperable. The contact pulled over to the side of the road for one to two minutes and returned independently. The contact stated that during the second failure, while depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle failed to respond and slowed down independently and the vehicle lost power for the second time. The contact stated that during the third failure, the vehicle lost power, and the contact pulled over to the side of the road the vehicle became inoperable for fifteen minutes and returned independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer found no failure with the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was unable to confirm when the part was available. The failure mileage was 68,392.
A/C STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR INTERMITTENTLY AT ABOUT 45K. BUT NOTICED A/C WASN'T AS COLD. WHEN SHOWED TO DEALER, ADVISOR RAN A/C AND SAID ITS OK. AT 60K MILES , NO A/C, JUST WARM AIR. TOOK IT TO A/C STORE , THEY FOUND LEAK AND TOLD US MOST OF THE NEW HONDAS WITH THE NEW A/C SYSTEMS ARE HAVING LEAKS BECAUSE OF THE NEW FREON CAUSING ISSUES. HONDA REFUSES TO FIX IT UNDER RECALL.
CAR HAS ALMOST 15,000 MILES. IT HAS DEVELOPED A STRANGE STICKING ISSUE IN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS LIGHTLY HOLDING ONTO THE WHEEL AS I'M SLIGHTLY TURNING AND THEN SUDDENLY LET'S GO. THIS CAUSES ME TO OVERCORRECT TO STAY IN THE LANE AND IT BECOMES A FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAR IN BETWEEN LANES. IT IS MOST APPARENT WHEN EXITING FREEWAY RAMPS AND CHANGING LANES, ALTHOUGH IT'S ALSO APPARENT ON THE FREEWAY WHEN SMALL CORRECTIONS ARE NEEDED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN BETWEEN LANES. THE OTHER SYMPTOM IS THAT THE CAR HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT REQUIRES CONSTANT LIGHT CORRECTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE CAR SWAYS BETWEEN THE LINES ON THE FREEWAY LANE. THIS IS INCREDIBLY TIRESOME ON A LONG DRIVE AND IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE PAST 2,000-3,000 MILES. DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG AND THAT IT'S THE LANE KEEP ASSIST DOING IT'S JOB. IT'S NOT DOING IT'S JOB IF I CAN'T CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND MAKES HIGHWAY TRACKING UNPREDICTABLE. I HAVE TURNED EVERY ASSIST OFF AND IT STILL DOES IT. AS A COMPARISON, MY WIFE HAS A 2017 EX ACCORD WITH 28,000 MILES AND IT DOESN'T EXHIBIT ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS THAT MY 2018 DOES. BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF SUPPORT AND KNOWLEDGE BY THE DEALER, WE FEEL OUR ONLY CHOICE IS TO TRADE THIS CAR IN AS THIS IS NOT ONLY AN ANNOYANCE, BUT A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED/STATIONARY ON SEMI-FLAT A SCHOOL PARKING LOT. WHEN I LOOKED BACK THE VEHICLES MOVED. SEEMS THE PARKING GEAR DID NOT FULLY ENGAGED. REGARDLESS VEHICLE WAS NOT IN NEUTRAL OR DRIVE AND IT STILL MOVED FORWARD WITH NO ONE ON IT, NO KEYS INSIDE AND ENGINE OFF. VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. LUCKILY NO ONE GOT HURT. SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION/CVT SYSTEM MAY BE AT FAULT, BUT UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.
ON JANUARY 4TH WHILE TRAVELING HOME MY ACCORD WAS SET IN CRUISE CONTROL AND OUT OF THE BLUE HIT THE BRAKES ON IT'S OWN WITH NO ONE AROUND ME. I BRUSHED IT OFF BUT ABOUT 20 MILES OR SO DOWN THE ROAD IT DID IT AGAIN EXCEPT THUS TE WAS NEXT TO A DIESEL AND NOT ONLY DID BRAKE ON ITS ON IT ALSO RESPONDED AS IF I WAS OUT MY LANE AND BEGAN TO TO TURN MY CAR INTO THE DIESEL I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM CRASHING AND THE THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT AND I BEGAN TO GET A MESSAGE THE THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING MECHANISM. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE REMAINDER OF OF MY TRIP BUT I WAS AN HOUR AND HALF AWAY FROM HOME SO TRAVELED ON HOME CHECK MY BRAKES CONSTANTLY. THIS EXPERIENCE HAS MY WIFE AND I RATTLED. I TOOK MY CAR IN ON THE 6TH TO TOPEKA HONDA AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND THAT THE CAR TRIED TO KILL ME AND MY WIFE BY TRYING TO RUN US INTO A DIESEL TRUCK AND HOW IT WAS BRAKING ON ITS OWN AND THE TOOK AND LOOKED AT IT . THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME BACK A STATED"THERE WAS SOME GUNK ON YOUR CENSOR AND THAT CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN AND THEY CLEANED IT OFF IT WAS FINE" BUT IF THE CENSOR IS ON THE FRONT OFF THE CSR AND GUNK MAKES IT NOT WORK SURELY THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE NOR WILL I ALLOW MY WIFE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE.
THE CAR HAS AN ISSUE THAT WHEN YOU DRIVE LONGER DISTANCES IT DEVELOPS A 'STICK-SLIP' FEELING ON THE STEERING, E.G. IT TAKES A LITTLE BIT MORE EFFORT TO OVERCOME THE FORCE IT TAKES TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR CENTERED IN THE LANE. OTHERS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME BEHAVIOR. I DO HAVE A SECOND, IDENTICAL VEHICLE WHICH SHOWS THE SAME BEHAVIOR.
SAME AS OTHER PEOPLE - I JUTS COPIED ANOTHER PERSONS COMPLAINT AS ITS IDENTICAL AND SAME MILEAGE ETC' - THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM' CAR HAS ALMOST 15,000 MILES. IT HAS DEVELOPED A STRANGE STICKING ISSUE IN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS LIGHTLY HOLDING ONTO THE WHEEL AS I?M SLIGHTLY TURNING AND THEN SUDDENLY LET?S GO. THIS CAUSES ME TO OVERCORRECT TO STAY IN THE LANE AND IT BECOMES A FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAR IN BETWEEN LANES. IT IS MOST APPARENT WHEN EXITING FREEWAY RAMPS AND CHANGING LANES, ALTHOUGH IT?S ALSO APPARENT ON THE FREEWAY WHEN SMALL CORRECTIONS ARE NEEDED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN BETWEEN LANES. THE OTHER SYMPTOM IS THAT THE CAR HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE. ENGINE KNOCKS AND HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY UPHILL. OCEAN HONDA IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA HAS CHECKED, DID DRIVE TESTS AND KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS AND ASSURED ME THE KNOCKING AND HESITATION WERE GONE. THEY EVEN INSISTED THEY DID NOT ENCOUNTER ANY KNOCKING NOR HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING AND DRIVING UPHILL. IT ALWAYS DOES BOTH AND NEVER WENT AWAY.
The contact's wife owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle would independently downshift as an orange "brake" warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. They had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they found no fault with the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO NHTSA RECALL 18V-629/MFR ID V2F (REAR CAMERA). AFTER BEING "REPAIRED" ONCE UNDER THIS RECALL, THE REAR CAMERA FAILED A SECOND TIME! THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THEY LEARNED THAT I HAD ALREADY HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE (BY THEM), THEY CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA. HONDA THEN REQUIRED ME TO PAY FOR A BRAND NEW CAMERA FOR MY 2018 ACCORD WHICH WAS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Honda CEO recently claimed that Honda will be producing Level 3 autonomous vehicles. That is horrifying, considering Honda can't even make a CMBS and a Radar Sensor that does not fail constantly. Please, please, please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.
DRIVING AT THE HIGHWAY, CAR SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN FROM 70MPH TO 40-50MPH,THERE WERE ANY CAR IN FRONT OF ME! I HAVE NOTHING ON MY WINDSHIELD! THERE WEREN'T ANY STOP OR TRAFFIC SIGN! SO HONDA STOP SAYING I AM DRIVING RECKLESSLY! FOR FEW SECOND I REGAINED CONTROL OF GAS, I HAVE TO SPEED UP MY CAR SO I DON'T GET REAR END, THEN EVERYTHING HAPPEN AGAIN, CAR DECIDED TO TAP BRAKE BY ITSELF. THIS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIME DURING THE HIGHWAY DRIVING. SCREEN POP UP SAID COLLISION MITIGATION BREAK SYSTEM ERROR. PLEASE CONTACT HONDA DEALERSHIP. AFTER CONTACT DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM SINCE THE ERROR DID NOT SHOW UP DURING THEIR IN HOUSE TESTING. AND YES, ERROR CODE DISAPPEARED AFTER CAR RESTARTED. BUT PROBLEM CONSISTS AFTER LONG DISTANCE DRIVE. I DON'T KNOW I SHOULD DRIVE THIS CAR OR I HAVE PRAY YOU GOD THAT ONE DAY I DON'T GET REAR END BECAUSE HONDA ACCORD DECIDES TO BRAKE ITSELF!
2018 HONDA ACCORD WITH 10 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A VERY VIOLENT UPSHIFT AT LOW SPEEDS (TAKING OFF FROM THE PARKING LOT). THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND, OF COURSE, A DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AS THEY ONLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR, MAYBE, AN HOUR, WHILE THE ISSUE OCCURS EVERY SO MANY HUNDREDS OF MILES (CAN'T QUITE PIN DOWN THE EXACT INTERVAL).
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OVERLY-BRIGHT. IN THE LOW-BEAM POSITION THE HEADLIGHTS ARE A PAINFUL EVEN TO GLANCE AT. WHEN THE CAR GOES OVER A BUMP THE HEADLIGHTS MAKE AN EVEN MORE BRIGHT FLASH. WITH SO MANY CARS LIKE THIS ON THE ROADS THE DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING DANGEROUS AS THE BLINDING HEADLIGHTS CREATE BOTH DISCOMFORT AND DISABILITY GLARE AS WELL AS A SUBSTANTIAL DISTRACTION. THOSE BLINDING LED HEADLIGHTS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Three times now I have been driving with no obstructions in front of me and the Automatic Emergency Braking System has flashed "BRAKE" on the dash and then slammed the brakes on. One of the times, I was on the freeway going approximately 60 mph. Everything on the seat next to me went flying and my seatbelt locked, hurting me (I did not see a doctor as it was not necessary). There were no cars or obstructions in front of me. This could have caused a bad accident had someone been behind me at the time. The other two times, people were able to brake in time so as to not cause an accident. This was terrifying. I took it to our local Honda dealership and they simply said everything looks fine and maybe the sensor was dirty. My car was clean at the time on the freeway, and I don't recall if it was the other two times. I did not have my insurance or police look over the car as there was no accident and no need to contact them. But the actual dealership DID look over the car. It all happened suddenly with no warning and no need. The only "warning lamp" was it flashing "BRAKE" on the dash immediately before it slammed on the brakes each time.
IN DECEMBER 2019, MY CAR AIR CONDITIONER WAS MAKING AN UNUSAL NOISE WHEN BEING TURNED ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN THERE SAID THAT THE AIR CONDENSER WAS LEAKING. HE ADDED THAT IT WOULD BE A >$1000 CHARGE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. AT THAT TIME, BECAUSE THE WEATHER WAS NOT TOO HOT, THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT A BIG ISSUE SO I DID NOT FIX IT THEN. HOWEVER, IN JUNE 2020, THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING WARM AIR AND IT WAS A HOT SUMMER SO I HAD TO PAY >$1000 TO FIX IT BY THE DEALER. I SAW THE RECALL FOR HONDA CIVIC MODEL OF THE SAME YEAR BEING CLAIMED FOR THE SAME ISSUE SO I TALKED TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY WERE SAYING THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO HONDA ACCORD MODELS. HOWEVER, MY BROTHER, WHO HAS THE SAME MODEL OF THE SAME YEAR, HAD THE SAME ISSUE SO HE HAD TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS WELL. I ALSO HAVE SEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR CASES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER OF THE SAME MODEL MANUFACTURED IN THE SAME YEAR. I BELIEVE, JUST LIKE THE CIVIC MODELS, A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IF YOU GOOGLE "HONDA ACCORD AIR CONDITIONER', IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO FIND THE ISSUE. I HOPE MY APPEAL PREVENTS ANY UNFORTUNATE, UNEXPECTED AND STILL UNFAIR COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNERS. THIS IS AN AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM SO IN SUMMER THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. The vehicle's safety system (not sure if it's the camera mounted behind the windshield or something else) will periodically interpret a road speed sign as showing 100mph speed limit. This has happened before and will have happened again (I am filing this complaint after some time has passed). As with a number of other issue with the 2018+ Honda models, Honda's response has been "take it to the dealer" while the dealer's mechanic drives the car for an hour, does not see the issue and then claims that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. HERE IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE SAFETY ISSUES THIS CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND TWO DEALERS WILL NOT FIX UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTEE BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE AND THERE ARE NO STORED ERROR CODES. THIS CAR HAS A LANE DEPARTURE MITIGATION (LDM) SYSTEM THAT HAS FALSELY ACTIVATED MANY TIMES WHILE THE CAR IS CENTERED ON THE DRIVING LANE. THE LDM ACTIVATES BY PROVIDING A WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD AND BY MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL QUICKLY TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT WHICH DISTRACTS THE DRIVER (A SAFETY ISSUE) AND ONCE CAUSED ME TO ALMOST STEER THE CAR INTO A SEMI ON MY RIGHT BY COMPENSATING FOR THE LEFT STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT. THIS CAR ALSO HAS A LANE KEEP ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS) WHICH REPEATEDLY HAS STEERED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. BOTH THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN RECORDED AND PROVIDED TO AHM AND BOTH DEALERS. THESE ISSUES HAPPEN RANDOMLY ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS CAR HAS ISSUES WITH RANDOMLY DISPLAYING AN INCORRECT SPEED LIMIT ON THE DASHBOARD (100 MPH IN A 60 MPH ZONE), FALSELY WARNING "STEERING IS REQUIRED" ON THE DASHBOARD, A "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING WHILE REPOSITIONING THE CAR AND THE ENGINE IS ON, AND THE BRAKE ASSIST/ANTI-COLLISION FALSELY ACTIVATING WHEN NOTHING IS DIRECTLY IN THE PATH OF THE CAR. ALL OF THESE HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATING ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.
THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM HAS THROWN AN ERROR AND STOPPED WORKING 5 TIMES NOW. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON LONG ROAD TRIPS ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 50+ MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED LESS THAN 30 MINUTES AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND SOMETIMES AFTER 2+ HOURS OF DRIVING. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS HAVE RANGED FROM CLOUDY TO FINE (NO SNOW OR RAIN). THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC.
I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND ONCE I HIT ABOUT 10-15 MPH, THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM CAME ON AND SLAMMED THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE A DASH CAMERA VIDEO WHICH SHOWS THE INCIDENT. THIS WAS ON A CLEAR, SUNNY DAY ON A NON-BUSY CITY STREET (OVERPASS).
THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF FUNCTION IN: 1. ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION 2. COLLISION MITIGATION 3. ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL 4. BRAKING SYSTEM THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT SPEED OF 10-40MPH, WITH AIR TEMPERATURE OF 28-32 DEGREES AND SNOWY CONDITIONS. HONDA HAS REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE NUMEROUS, POTENTIALLY SW/HW - RELATED ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN MANIFESTING THEMSELVES IN OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE. WHAT HAPPENED TODAY WAS A NEW SET OF SYMPTOMS, BUT WITH MUCH HIGHER SEVERITY AND NO OBVIOUS PRECEDENT. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO DISABLE THE LANE DEPARTURE AND THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THEIR ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. HOWEVER, IN THIS CASE THE MESSAGES THAT HAVE COME UP (WILL ATTACHE PHOTOS) DEMANDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE ERRORS AND MESSAGE DID NOT GO AWAY UPON MULTIPLE RESTARTS OF THE VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVAL TO THE DEALER, IT WAS INDICATED TO ME THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF SOME OF THE OTHER ISSUES I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING WITH THE VEHICLE AND STILL (MONTHS HENCE) DOES NOT HAVE A FIX, AND THAT HONDA HAS, ESSENTIALLY, BEEN RESORTING TO TESTING THEIR VEHICLE ON THE CUSTOMERS, INSTEAD OF MORE RIGOROUS PRE-RELEASE TESTING, INSTEAD CHOOSING TO USE THE DEALERS AS A QUASI-TEST/R&D DEPARTMENT. THE MULTIPLE SAFETY SYSTEM FAILURE I EXPERIENCED TODAY IS A PRETTY CLEAR INDICATION OF THAT. I HAVE FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH NTHSA RELATED TO THE OTHER ISSUES AND WOULD URGE YOU TO INITIATE A RECALL ON ALL OF THE HONDA ACCORDS (AND POSSIBLY ODYSSEYS AND PILOTS AS THEY SHARE SOME OF THE SUB-SYSTEMS) FOR THE 2018, 2019 AND THE COMING 2020 MODELS.
THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS INDICATED WITH THE STOPPING ABILITY OF THE CAR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONLY 2 MILES AWAY AND WHEN IT WAS INSPECTED I WAS TOLD BOTH PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES WERE DOWN TO METAL WITH NO PADS LEFT. THE DEALER SAID SOMETHING HAD FAILED CAUSING THE CONDITION WHICH WAS REQUIRING MORE PARTS TO BE REPLACED. IF WE WERE FARTHER FROM THE DEALER ( BARBER HONDA BAKERSFIELD) THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE IS MY UNDERSTANDING.
ISSUE WITH STEERING STICKING OR FEELING "NOTCHY" WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MINOR STEERING INPUT TO KEEP VEHICLE GOING STRAIGHT REQUIRES A LOT OF ISSUE, THEN THE STEERING LETS LOOSE JERKING THE CAR ON THE ROAD. STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED IN DECEMBER 2018, BUT THE ISSUE HAS RESURFACED WITH THE REPLACEMENT STEERING RACK.
