TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING GOING GROCERY SHOPPING WHEN I NOTICED MY VEHICLES STABILITY CONTROL BEGAN TO ACTIVATE AT RANDOM TIMES AND NO RAIN/SNOW WAS PRESENT ON THE GROUND. I TURNED THE IGNITION OF AND ON TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BUT ONLY NOTICE THE SAME THING WAS REPEATEDLY HAPPING.
STEERING SYSTEM "STICKS" AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT REQUIRES SOME FORCE TO CORRECT FOR THIS WHICH CAN CAUSE AN OVER-CORRECTION IN STEERING AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED UNSAFE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON IT. FOUND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FROM THE 'ACCORDXCLUB.COM" AUTO CLUB: "THE DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND BROUGHT IN HONDA'S FIELD ENGINEER SINCE THIS WAS THE SECOND CASE OF THIS STEERING ISSUE THEY HAD SEEN RECENTLY. THE TECH'S NOTES ON MY INVOICE STATE "STEERING GEAR BOX BINDING / REPLACED GEAR BOX". IT WAS A SINGLE PART REPLACEMENT -- 53620-TWA-A28. AT $2,100 FOR THE PART, NOT INCLUDING LABOR, I PITY ANYONE THAT ENDS UP WITH THIS PROBLEM OUT OF WARRANTY! " SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE NUMEROUS OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE FAILURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MILLENNIUM HONDA (286 N FRANKLIN ST, HEMPSTEAD, NY 11550, (516) 481-2800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A BRAKING FAILURE THAT DRAINED THE SYSTEM'S POWER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY TO STOP THE SYSTEM DRAINAGE; HOWEVER, THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM WAS STILL DISABLED AND HAD NOT BEEN REACTIVATED BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAD NOT CALLED THE CONTACT BACK YET WITH THE STATUS OF THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
2018 HONDA ACCORD 2.0T TOURING WITH 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, MILEAGE < 1000. TRANSMISSION HAS ROUGH SHIFTING FROM 2ND INTO 3RD GEAR AT LOW RPMS/SPEED (2,000 RPM / < 14MPH) FEELING LIKE A MANUAL SHIFT CAR POPPING THE CLUTCH. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN CAR IS COLD OR WARMED UP, CAR IS IN THE NORTHEAST WITH COLD OR HOT WEATHER. I NOTICED THAT THE RPMS DON'T DROP WHEN IT HAPPENS WHICH CREATES THE SLAM INTO GEAR FEELING JUDDER. UNDER SLIGHTLY HARDER BUT NORMAL ACCEIERATION THE CAR SHIFTS (LIKE A MANUAL CAR ) AS IF DOUBLE CLUTCHING FROM 2-3RD FEELING LIKE ITS SKIPPING A GEAR BUT ITS VERY QUICK AS YOU HEAR THE ENGINE REVS BLIP BETWEEN SHIFTS. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO OBSERVED THE SAME ROUGH SHIFTING AND TOLD BY DEALER IT DOES SHIFT LIKE THIS COMPARED TO OTHER ACCORD VEHICLES. DEALER INDICATED THEY WOULD ONLY OBSERVE THE CONDITION SINCE HONDA HAS NO OFFICIAL TSA OUT YET. I SHOWED HIM THE ACURA VIDEO FOR THE SAME ENGINE/TRANS A CLUTCH FIX BREAK-IN THAT'S WAS USED TO HELP SOLVE SOME REPORTED ROUGH SHIFTING AND HONDA DEALER WOULD NOT USE IT GIVEN ACURA USE CASE. I AM ON 7,000 MILES BUT UNDER 1YR OWNERSHIP AND THE SAME ROUGH SHIFT CONDITION EXIST BUT LESS SEVERE. SOME INTERNET REPORTS STATE ROUGH SHIFTING GOES AWAY ABOVE 7K MILES AS THE TRANSMISSION BREAKS-IN AND THE SOFTWARE LEARNS THE DRIVING BEHAVIOR BUT IT REALLY HAS NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE. HARD ACCELERATION GOING ABOVE 4500 RPM THE CAR SHIFTS QUITE NORMALLY AND SMOOTHLY AND DOES NOT EXHIBIT THE LOW SPEED ROUGH SHIFTING IN ANY OF THE NORMAL OR SPORT MODES OF THE CAR THUS SURMISING THERE'S SOME FORM OF OPERATIONAL FAILURE OCCURRING BY UNINTENTIONAL DESIGN IN SOFTWARE OR MECHANICAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN THE CONTACT LIFTED HIS FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE BOTTOM OF HIS FOOT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA CITY LONG ISLAND (LOCATED AT 3859 HEMPSTEAD TURNPIKE, LEVITTOWN, NY 11756, (516) 717-4762) WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED, BUT NOT TEST DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
THERE ARE NUMEROUS FACTORY PAINT DEFECTS INCLUDING ON THE REAR DOOR, TRUCK LID, AND ROOF. THE PAINT QUALITY IS VERY POOR. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAVE CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA, THEY ARE BOTH UNRESPONSIVE TO MY DEMANDS TO MAKE REPAIRS. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE 3-YEAR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. *TR

ENGINE OIL SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. THIS IS THE SAME 1.5L TURBO GDI ENGINE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED ALREADY IN THE CIVIC AND CRV.
I GOT MY HONDA ACCORD SPORT ON NOVEMBER 30 2018 WITH 8 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THAT THERE WAS NO HEAT IN THE CAR. I ALSO NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE IN THE DASH WAS NOT REACHING 'ENGINE TEMPERATURE. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER HONDA OF NEW ROCHELLE, COMPLAINING OF NO HEAT WHILE IDLING. I WAS TOLD TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE WITH MY SEATBELTS AND BRAKES ON TO TRICK IT' THAT SEEMED TO WORK. A WEEK LATER IT STARTED TO GET TO ENGINE TEMPERATURE WHILE IDLING WITHOUT TRICKING IT. A WEEK LATER WHILE IDLING THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF NEVER TO START AGAIN. THE VALVES WERE DAMAGED. HONDA REPLACED THE ENGINE THAT ONLY HAD 800 MILES. NOW THEY WANT TO GIVE ME BACK THE CAR WHEN I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING INHERENTLY DEFECTIVE WITH THE ENGINE DESIGN.

HONDA OF NEW ROCHELLE (25 E MAIN ST, NEW ROCHELLE, NY 10801, (888) 905-3762) SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT "TRICK" THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING ON HER SEAT BELT AND SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. THE HEAT STARTED TO WORK; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED BACK ONE MONTH LATER AND STATED THAT THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE REPORTS THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED HER STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND RESEARCHED THE LEMON LAWS. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER BY LETTER THAT SHE WANTED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER'S GENERAL MANAGER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE DEALER'S LOT. THE GENERAL MANAGER THREATENED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE PLACED BY THE ROAD WHERE IT WOULD GET TICKETED. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE PLATES AND LEFT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 818.
MY WIFE WAS BACKING UP USING THE CARS BACK UP CAMERA THE VIEW SHOWED THE DIRECTION LINES BUT NO OBSTRUCTIONS. WITH NO WARNING SHE HIT A PARKED CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH. THE CAR AT NO TIME WAS VISIBLE IN THE CAMERA MONITOR.
COLLISION DETECTION SYSTEM FAILED, WORKS FINE AFTER RESTART. ISSUE OCCURS EVERY 70 MILES AND REQUIRES A RESTART TO FIX.
MY CAR HAS CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FROM BOTH SIDES ON THE WIPER BLADES TRAILS. IT HAS NOT BEEN HIT BY A ROCK. I NOTICED IT ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHEN I WAS USING THE WIPERS ON RAINY DAYS. I WAS TOLD BY THE GLASS REPAIR SHOPS THAT IT WAS CAUSED DUE TO THE HEATED WIPERS WHILE IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN TO WORK THE CRACKS APPEARED TO TRAVEL LONGER ON THE WINDSHIELD.
THE SENSOR FOR THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM IS LOCATED WHERE IT IS VERY VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE AND IT STOPS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WHEN IT COLLECTS EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF SNOW. OTHER VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE SENSORS ANYWHERE NEAR THIS VULNERABLE. THIS SYSTEM IS PROMOTED AS ADDING TO THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE, BUT BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN AND LOCATION ON THE 2018/2019 ACCORD IT IS VERY VULNERABLE TO FAILURE. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO BASICALLY SAID THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM SINCE THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE LOCATION OF THE SENSOR. I THINK THEY WILL IN TIME. THIS SENSOR WAS DAMAGED ON MY NEW ACCORD WHILE DRIVING DOWN AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN ARKANSAS AFTER OWNING THE CAR TWO WEEKS AND A DAY. SINCE IT IS DAMAGE, THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE COST TO REPAIR THE SENSOR. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THIS SENSOR.
INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WHICH ALSO DISPLAYS REAR VIEW CAMERA RANDOMLY RESTARTS.
ACCORD FRONT CHROME GRILL IS BUBBLING UP. NOTICED IT AFTER 1 DAY OF PURCHASE. CAR WAS IS MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I HAVE NOTICED THE BUBBLING. OTHER OWNERS HAVE NOTICED THE SAME THING AND HAVE HAD THE PART REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER, THEY REFUSED TO CHANGE THE PART UNDER WARRANTY.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance System erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The failure occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000 plus multiple events. Phamton, needless automate breaking for no reason!
MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A STRESS CRACK ON THE LOWER MID DRIVER SIDE THAT STARTED AT THE PILLAR AND SPREAD TO THE CENTER. TOOK TO THREE DIFFERENT SHOPS AND ALL STATED IT WAS A STRESS CRACK. OTHER ACCORDS OF THE SAME YEAR ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM HAS COMPLETELY FAILED TWICE ON MY MONTH OLD 2018 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THIS FAILS, THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ALSO DEACTIVATED. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVE.
While using Adaptive Cruise Control the Collision Mitigation Braking System turns off with no rhyme or reason. This happens often ... 5 to 10 times per month depending upon how many miles I use the car that month. The speed of the car doesn't matter. When the CMBS turns off, the ACC also does not function. The only way to reset is to restart the car. This has happened ever since I purchased the car (new in 2018) but happens more often as time passes. I've reported this to the dealer twice. The first time I was told that the camera lens are probably dirty. (I've thoroughly cleaned the lens to no avail.) The second time the dealer updated the software. That did not solve the problem. The car has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. Warning lamps and messages appear when the CMBS goes out.
AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF MY ACCORD ON DEC 7, 2018 I NOTICED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WEREN'T ON EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER DOOR WAS OPEN. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD JUST TURNED THE SWITCH OFF. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I MADE SURE THE DOOR SWITCH WAS IN THE "DOOR" POSITION AND THE REAR LIGHT SWITCH WAS IN THE MIDDLE. THE OVERHEAD LIGHT, REAR LIGHTS STILL WOULD NOT COME ON AFTER OPENING THE DOOR. THERE WAS ALSO NO VANITY MIRROR OR TRUNK LIGHTS. A FEW DAYS LATER THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS BEGAN COMING ON BY THEMSELVES AND FADE OUT AFTER 15 SECONDS. IT DID IT WHILE THE DOORS WERE OPEN OR CLOSED AND SOMETIMES WHILE STARTING THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON DEC 13 AND THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE LIGHTS WERE ON SOME KIND OF TIMER. REALLY? IT APPLIED POWER TO THE LIGHTS AT A SET INTERVAL. FOR A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE INTERVAL THE LIGHTS WORKED PERFECTLY, THEN SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT WORK AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT INTERVAL. THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED A NEW LIGHTING MODULE. THE MODULE WAS INSTALLED ON DEC 20 AND THE LIGHTS DID THE SAME THING. THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE BATTERY, WIRING, FUSES, BULBS, OR LIGHT MODULE. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT'S CONTROLLING THE TIMING. THE LIGHTS SHOULDN'T BE ON ANY TIMER. THE ENGINEERS AT AMERICAN HONDA WERE STUMPED. I NOW HAVE TO BRING IT BACK NEXT WEEK SO THE TECHNICIANS AT THE DEALERSHIP CAN TALK WITH THE ENGINEERS IN JAPAN THAT DESIGNED THE CAR. ON THE SURFACE THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIMPLE PROBLEM BUT IN ACTUALITY IT'S INCREDIBLY COMPLEX. LIKE HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OR COMPUTER. THERE ARE 2 MORE TIMES TO FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT CAN BE CALLED A LEMON. OTHER THAN THE ODD LIGHTING PROBLEM MY CAR HAS PERFORMED PERFECTLY.
The car brakes when there is no one in front on me on the highway. It was occurred many times.
UPON COMPLETION OF THE DRIVING THE CAR, I WILL PUT THE CAR INTO THE GARAGE. AFTER 10-20 MINUTES HAS PASSED, I WALK OUT TO THE GARAGE AND THE WHOLE GARAGE SMELLS LIKE UNBURNT FUEL. ON OCCASION IF THE TIME BETWEEN DRIVES IS SHORT, THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE CAR WILL ALSO SMELL LIKE FUEL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES SO FAR, WITH NO LUCK HELPING. TODAY WILL BE THE 5TH TIME IN THE FIRST 20000 MILES. I PUT IT AS LAST WEEK BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MADE ME SEND IT BACK TO DEALER YET AGAIN, BUT THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR MONTHS.
AS I WAS PULLING OUT THE GARAGE FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HEADING TOWARDS THE HIGHWAY TO SAN FRANCISCO THE MILES PER HOUR IS 30 ENTERING AND THEN 65 MPH WHEN YOU GET ON HIGHWAY. THE DASH BOARD INDICATES THE WRONG MILES FOR SPEED IT SAID 100 MPH. IT STAYED LIKE THAT FOR MORE THAN 5 MINS. I ALREADY HAD A PREVIOUS SITUATION WITH THIS VEHICLE WHERE THE BRAKING SYSTEMS ENGAGED AS I WAS ON HIGHWAY IN 05/13/2018, AND ALMOST CAUSED MY LIFE AND OTHERS BEHIND ME, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE FROM BEING REAR ENDED AND OVER 18K WORTH OF DAMAGE BUT HONDA DEALER KEEP SAYING NOTHING WAS FOUND FAULTY! I HAD THEM TURN 'OFF' ALL SAFETY MODES CAUSE I'M AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BUT IT KEEPS COMING BACK 'ON'. IT YANKED ME SEVERAL TIMES WHEN NO OTHER CAR IS AROUND ME. THE BRAKING LIGHT APPEARED SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY SINCE I GOT IT BACK, AND IT'S LIKE THEY DON'T BELIEVE YOU. NOW AFTER ALL THIS I'M STUCK WITH A FAULTY CAR I'M REALLY THINKING ABOUT GETTING A LAWYER ON THIS. AND MY SPEAKERS SEEM NOT TO BE RIGHT EITHER THE SOUNDING IS VERY LOW COMPARED TO WHEN I GOT IT. ONLY 2000 MILES AND THIS CAR BEEN A PAIN . PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY! AND DID I MENTION THAT MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T WORK FROM FIRST INCIDENT I REPORTED. AFTER CAR WAS CRUSHED IN FROM BEING HIT FROM BEHIND . NOPE THEY FAILED TOO.
LAST SERVICE CHECK, APPROX 1 WEEK, SHOWED BATTERY PARTIALLY DISCHARGED (MARKED AS "FAILED" AND "REPLACE" ON THE SERVICE REPORT. NO APPARENT REASON. TODAY, AFTER A RAINY DAY AND NOT USING THE CAR THE DAY BEFORE, FOUND THE CAR LOCKED AS ALWAYS BUT ALL FOUR WINDOWS WERE DOWN. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. THE FIRST TIME WAS 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN A NEIGHBOR CALLED TO TELL ME THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN. THE CAR WAS LOCKED THEN AS WELL, IT WAS ALSO AFTER A RAINY DAY. IN BOTH OCCURRENCES, THERE WAS NO WATER IN THE VEHICLE OR ON THE SEATS.
THE SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION IS VIOLENT AND FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED THIS HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY IN COLDER TEMPERATURES THIS HAPPENS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP OR A ROLLING STOP.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND OFF .DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH REMOTE OR MANUAL. ONLY DRIVER'S DOOR WITH THE REMOTE. ALSO AUTO LOCK/UNLOCK DIDN'T WORK IN PARK AND DRIVE. STARTED THE CAR AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHED WARNINGS OF: LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM PROBLEM. SEE YOUR DEALER., ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM. SEE YOUR DEALER. AUTO HIGH BEAM PROBLEM. SEE YOUR DEALER. AUTOMATIC LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM PROBLEM. SEE YOUR DEALER. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR A HALF HOUR. DOORS UNLOCKED WITH REMOTE WITH NO PROBLEM. STARTED CAR AND ALL WAS BACK TO NORMAL. TOOK THE CAR TO MY HONDA DEALER TO ADVISE THEM OF THIS ISSUE AND SHOWED THEM A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH NO EXPLANATION OF WHY OR REMEDY. MY CAR HAS ONLY 6,388 MILES, PURCHASED 5/23/2018. PRETTY SCARY AND NOT HAPPY THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH A NEW CAR.
I LIVE IN ROCHESTER NY AND EVEN WITH VERY LIGHT SNOW THAT IS NOT EVEN COLLECTING ON THE ROADWAY I GET AN URGENT NOTIFICATION THAT CRASH AVOIDANCE AND ANY RADAR BASED SAFETY SYSTEMS ARE COMPROMISED AND NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. THIS IS DUE TO THE RADAR UNIT BEING INTERFERED WITH SNOW COLLECTION AS IT IS IN THE SHAPE OF A SQUARE CUP AND IT COLLECTS SNOW LIKE A SCOOP. THERE IS NO HEATING ELEMENT ON THE UNIT AT ALL TO KEEP IT CLEAR OF SNOW AND IT'S LOCATION IS SUCH THAT IT IS RENDERED TOTALLY USELESS IN ANY SNOW WHAT SO EVER. BMW, MERCEDES AND AUDI ALL EITHER HAVE HIDDEN THEIR UNITS BEHIND ITEMS THAT ARE HEATED FOR NORTHERN CLIMATES OR THE RADAR UNIT ITSELF IS GENTLY HEATED BELOW A PARTICULAR TEMPERATURE TO AVOID LOOSING ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT ACCEPTABLE IN A MODERN CAR AND I WOULD ASK NHTSA TO LOOK INTO WITH HONDA RECALLING ALL NORTHERN CARS TO CHANGE THE RADAR UNIT TO A HEATED VERSION OR TO RELOCATE IT BEHIND AN EMBLEM OR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T COLLECT SNOW LIKE A SCOOP. IT IS A VERY POOR DESIGN AND IMPACTS ALL DISTANCE AND CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS PRESENT ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A 2.0 TOURING EDITION WITH EVERY AVAILABLE OPTION SO IT IS NOT FOR A LACK OF SPENDING MONEY FOR SAFETY THAT'S FOR SURE. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND ARE TELLING PEOPLE IT'S MADE THAT WAY AND FRANKLY THE SENSOR SHOULD BE HEATED IN NORTHERN CLIMATES. NICE!
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON 11/21/2018 AND I HEARD A VERY LOUD SOUND. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, "WHAT WAS THAT?" I LOOKED UP AND SAW MY SUNROOF SHATTERED AND BROKEN PIECES OF GLASS IN MY PASSENGER'S SEAT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS INCIDENT. I DID NOT SEE ANY FLYING OBJECTS AND I THOUGHT IT WAS THE STRANGEST THING. I PULLED THE SUNROOF SHADE TO CLOSE-OUT THE NOISE AND DROVE HOME. I'M TRYING TO RATIONALIZE THIS EVENT AND I AM STILL UNABLE TO MAKE SENSE OF IT. I DECIDED TO SEARCH THE INTERNET AND IT APPEARS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. NEW HONDA ACCORD 2.0T WITH 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY ROUGH AND SLOW FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED ON HONDA ACCORD OWNER FORUMS AND ACURA RDX OWNER FORUMS (THE TWO VEHICLES SHARE THE SAME ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE NORMALLY SHIFTS HARD FROM 2ND TO 3RD, BUT OCCASIONALLY IT IS VERY SLOW TO ENGAGED 3RD GEAR AND THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR. IT'S VERY STRANGE HOW IT FEELS. IT CAN CAUSE THERE TO BE A HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND FEELS LIKE IT'S DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO LEITH HONDA OF RALEIGH WHO ADVISED THERE'S NO TSB OR CAMPAIGN FROM HONDA TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THERE IS HOWEVER A VIDEO THAT ACURA HAS POSTED FOR THEIR SERVICE TECHNICIANS ADVISING THEM TO FOLLOW A "CLUTCH BREAK IN PROCEDURE" TO RESOLVE THE ROUGH SHIFTING.

RE: NHTSA RECALL 18V-629 DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE DISPLAY AUDIO UNIT, AS REQUIRED BY THE RECALL. THE REPROGRAMMING FAILED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, IN FACT, IT MADE IT WORSE.. THE DISPLAY NOW STARTS AND REBOOTS AT RANDOM WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN, INCLUDING WHEN IT IS IN REVERSE. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS OWN 2018 HONDA ACCORD. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC HONDA ISSUED WARNING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM : JA02922. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE ONLINE. MECHANIC SAID DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO TEST DRIVE AND DO A FORCE OR PHASE MATCHING. IS THIS CAR SAFE TO DRIVE? DO FACTORY TIRES NEED REPLACEMENT? WE HAVE 5000 MILES ON IT AND ARE DRIVING ACROSS COUNTRY TO MOVE FROM AL TO CO...VERY STRESSFUL.
When turning and there is a slip in the Vehicle Stability Assist, it results in shut off and warning of multiple features, including: adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, brake system, electric power steering, vehicle power steering, collision mitigation braking system, and road departure mitigation. The issue has happened randomly (~8 times now, the most recent being 6/15/24), the first being less than one year after I bought the car new in 2018. It turns off after I turn off and start the car again. I have spoken to the dealer and reached out to the warranty provider, but because the car does not display the error message when I go there, the dealer refuses to look at the car. My guess is that it may be an issue with an ECU or the differential, as it results in the failure of many systems.

SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN JULY AND ESPECIALLY OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST TWO MONTHS THE CAR HAS BEEN EXHIBITING ERRORS WITH THE CPU (HONDA SENSING) SYSTEM ON BOARD. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO SEEMS TO EXHIBIT ISSUES WHICH I HAVE TAKEN UP WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON TWO OCCASIONS WHERE IT APPEARS TO SHIFT HARD UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION AND EVEN UNDER PASSING POWER. ALSO, UPON ACCELERATING, THE CAR WILL SEEM TO BOG DOWN LIKE IT HAS A AIR INTAKE ISSUE(SENSATION FEELING) IT DOES IT FROM STOP AND GO AT TIMES AND ALSO WHEN AT SPEED. THESE ISSUES COULD HAVE PROVEN VERY DANGEROUS IN BOTH SITUATIONS IF VEHICLES WERE NEXT TO ME OR BEHIND ME AND THESE ISSUES WITH A BRAND NEW CAR ARE NOT MAKING ME FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR. OIL IS SEEPING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I DO NOT KNOW THE NAME OF THIS COMPONENT. INITIALLY AND SHORTLY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR NOVEMBER 2018, THERE WAS THE SMELL OF OIL/GAS AROUND THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR. I DO NOT NOTICE IT NOW. I CHECK THE DIPSTICK OIL LEVEL ROUTINELY AND HAD TWO DEALERSHIPS CHECK THE OIL LEVEL; ONE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE OIL. HOWEVER, THE CURRENT OIL LEVEL ON THE DIP STICK INDICATES THAT IT IS OVER-FULL AND THERE IS A SLIGHT SMELL OF GASOLINE ON THE DIPSTICK. THE OIL SEEMS VERY THIN (NOT VISCOUS) AND RUNS QUICKLY OFF OF THE DIPSTICK.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and the Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the contact stated that upon parking and turning off the vehicle, the doors failed to unlock. The contact stated that he was unable to unlock the doors by pressing the door lock switch or the key fob. The contact stated that his wife and himself remained locked in the vehicle for 30-45 minutes while the inside vehicle temperature rose to approximately 115 degrees F. The contact notified his friend who pulled the driver’s side door several times from the outside and the door opened. Both the contact and his wife exited the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was traded in. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO SEE THE MANAGER BEFORE RECALL CHECK UP. FOR 20 MINUTES LATER, HE SAID MY CAR IS NOT FOR THE RECALL. THERE AS RE SEVERAL CUSTOMERS ARE THE SAME SITUATIONS LIKE ME. HE PRINTED OUT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. I HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS THAT. I HAVE A RECALL LETTER BUT THEY ARE SAYING THAT MY CAR IS NOT RECALL. WHEN I COME TO SEE NHTSA WEBSITE TO CHECK MY VINYL NUMBER, IT SHOWS 0 BUT SHOWS 11.3.2018 UPDATED INFORMATION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS IF THEY JUST UPDATED THE SYSTEM WITHOUT REALLY CHECKING THE CAR AT ALL. WHAT DID THEY UPDATE THE SYSTEM WHILE REFUSING MY RECALL SERVICE? I SAW OTHERS HAD THE SAME SITUATION. FUEL DILUTION IN MOTOR OIL. BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, CHECKED DIPSTICK, OIL LEVEL IS UP PAST THE UPPER LINE AND SMELLS OF GAS. SENT A SAMPLE OF MOTOR OIL FOR TESTING AND CAME BACK HIGH FOR FUEL % IN OIL. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR WITH ONLY 1700 MILES! THE CAR IS DRIVEN AN AVERAGE OF 40 MILES A DAY, SO SHORT TRIPS IS NOT A FACTOR. CHANGED OIL USING HONDA FILTER AND MOBIL 1 0W-20 TO SPEC, AND AFTER 500 MILES, OIL LEVEL IS UP AND SMELLS OF GAS AGAIN. ATTACHED IS THE USED OIL ANALYSIS AT 1700 MILES.

STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE AND RISING OIL LEVEL. CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 200 MILES ON IT! THIS IS NOT WHAT I HAD EXPECTED FROM A HONDA.
WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 25 MILES IN A DAY MY STEERING WHEEL WILL STIFFEN UP AND THEN IT WILL RELEASE WITH A JERKING LIKE MOTION ( ALMOST SIMILAR TO A RACK AND PINION ISSUE IN AN OLDER VEHICLE). IT PROGRESSES THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTINUE THE TRIP. HONDA HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS AND SAID IT'S THE WAY THE SUSPENSION IS SET UP, HOWEVER IT SHOULDN'T BE STIFFENING UP AND JERKING AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. HONDA IS CURRENTLY IN POSSESSION OF THE ACCORD TRYING TO DETERMINE IF THERE'S ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 17 DAYS AS OF THIS POSTING. WITH ALL THAT SAID, I KEEP ALL THE DRIVING SUPPORT FEATURES DISABLED. THIS STEERING ISSUE HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS DURING THE TIME OF MAINTAINING A CERTAIN SPEED FROM 25+ MPH. IT'S QUITE SCARY TO DRIVE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE 2ND ISSUE I'VE REPOSTED SINCE PURCHASING THE ACCORD IS I ALSO HAVE TO KEEP THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM TURNED OFF WHEN AS SOON AS I REMEMBER TO DISABLE IT AFTER EACH STARTUP AS I'VE HAD SUDDEN STOPS BY THE CAR AT A NEARBY RAILROAD TRACK AND A HIGHWAY SIGN THAT GOES ACROSS A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN TEXAS WHICH I WAS GOING 45MPH. DUE TO THE FACT IT THINKS THERE'S SOMETHING IN FRONT OF ME AND STOPS THE CAR. I'VE HAD WHIPLASH TWICE FROM THE CMBS SYSTEM ALERTING THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE HAULT. THE CAR HAS A SENSOR FOR BREAKING. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE CAR BREAKING SYSTEM COMES ON MAKING THE VEHICLE COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. DURING SEVERAL OF THESE DANGEROUS BREAKING EVENTS NO VEHICLES OR OBJECTS WERE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN RARE ENDED BECAUSE OF THE BREAKING. I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVEN S SHADOW FROM A TREE CAN TRIGGER THE SENSOR TO MAKE THE BREAKING SYSTEM TURN ON MAKING THE CAR COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THIS FEATURE COMPLETELY OFF. WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF IT RESETS ONCE YOU TURN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED.
