2019 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T and 2.0T oil dilution issues. Fuel leaks in to the oil system and anytime the oil is changed it smells like gasoline. I have to change the oil every 3k to 5k miles in order to keep my oil clean and without engine fuel dilution.
Driving auto and suddenly word BRAKE appears across screen. This is 3time has appeared. Auto will attempt to stop on its own, pulls to right each time. Scheduled 6/17 at dealer. I was in car alone
While driving at 70 mph on freeway, driver experienced a sudden loss of power/rapid deceleration with no throttle response and no acceleration. Vehicle drivetrain seemed to be disengaged. TCM Gauge control error indicated on dash, also indicated on dash: ACC Adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation breaking system problem, road departure mitigation system problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking function was inadvertently activated; however, there were no other vehicles around. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not yet taken to an independent mechanic or local dealer for diagnosis or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
I am filing this complaint because I just took in my 2019 honda accord to the honda service department so they can look at the issue with the sensor lights that are going off in my car. I thought it was a simple malfunction with the sensors but they came back telling me that there is a misfire issue with the engine causing the sensor lights to engage and all going off at the same time. My car only has 37000 miles on it and its less than 3 years old. I've taken the car to a 3rd party mechanic for regular maintenance work and its up to date on oil changes and all other maintenance that is required for the car. The Honda folks submitted for the warranty to cover the repairs of $4800 to replace the head gasket replacement along with the machining of the engine head. I have not gotten into an accident now have I used my car to race anyone that would cause the car to warp to that point. I think this is a defect and the Honda warranty folks are just using the excuse that I was using a 3rd party mechanic to fix this issue to avoid having to pay for the repairs. I cannot afford this repair $4800. I still have to make car payments as well as the insurance on the car for something fairly new. Can you help in any way with this?
When I was driving during a storm on June 24, 2022, the numerous warning readings flashed on my dashboard. My car begin to slow down until it completely stalled. I was able to restart the car and drive it off the main road and it stalled again. AAA tolled my car to Performance Honda. I have a 2019 Honda Accord EX purchased July 17, 2019 with 35014 miles. Honda explained that the engine had lost oil and the engine was completely inoperable.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes warning light was flashing on the instrument panel before the vehicle independently stopped abruptly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
There have been two incidents where my 2019 Honda Accord braked extremely hard and it was out of my control. The first incident was while I was exiting a highway on a rainy night at approximately 30mph, I had cars behind me that had to brake extremely hard due to my braking system which could have caused a rear end collision. The second incident was while I was driving approximately 50mph on a small two lane highway, I had other cars behind that had to swerve to avoid a collision once again. My car also detects many crack repairs on the highway as lane lines and attempts to depart the actual lane. I have to force the steering wheel to stay in the accurate lane. Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe driving my own car.
AEB was applied three times without need since I have owned the car (purchased used in May 2022). All three times were not warranted and I was nearly rear ended once. First time occurred while merging onto a highway. The AEB system appeared to confuse the concrete dividing wall (which ends at the merge point) and braked unexpectedly. I was nearly rear ended. Second instance occurred while traveling at highway speed on a two lane freeway. I was in the left lane and a vehicle in the right lane began to slowly approach the dividing line (never crossed) and the AEB system activated. Third instance occurred when changing lanes on a two lane highway (right lane to left lane). Car braked suddenly for no reason. It appeared to confuse a large black patch (fresh road repair) in the middle of the road with an obstruction. No other cars were present.
Door lock actuator of 1 door out of 4 is gets stuck between open and close positions (brainfart) mode and won't respond to center lock/unlock. It won't unlock with the fob from outside or respond to door unlock button from inside. If I am inside the car, I have to brush my hand against the physical lock latch simultaneously with pressing the unlock switch. I am afraid in case of an accident, the door may not open as normal. Apparently this is a common problem as I have searched many HONDA online forums.
As i am driving over 50 mph in traffic my 2019 honda accord will automatically brake in the middle of traaffic almost causing accidents. The mitigation system will fail and prompt on the cluster electric parking brake problem, electrical power steering problem, RDM Problem, CMBS Problem, Adaptive cruise control problem this so called safety features are being a safety PROBLEM
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a beeping noise would emit from the vehicle as the vehicle would independently brake without incident. The vehicle would resume normal driving after the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be serviced or diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
My Honda Accord has randomly started breaking by itself. I was not pressing the brake just the gas as I was driving and it wouldn’t go as I pressed the gas again . The dash flicked off and came back on and it allowed me to go as I pressed the gas . This could result in a bad accident if it happens on the freeway at 60+ mph. I’m very nervous to drive this car as I have 2 children in it often as well. Please make other 2019 Honda Accord owners known as well as this could happen to them too.
I was driving on part of the highway when the car suddenly braked on its own. Cruise control was not on. I was not close to any other vehicles in front of me. I was not close to any structures in front of me.
Car applied brakes on highway for no reason. Was almost rear ended as a result.
Hi. Just looking for information on how to go about with my car. A few months ago, i was driving within my city in the residential area, and while i was driving, my car quickly, like for 3 seconds, just lost power, there was no warning lights or anything that came on, it just felt like i accidentally touched the brakes real quick while driving, but i didn't. Fast forward to Friday. I was driving home from work on the Interstate. There was a big rig gas carrier truck next to me, and all of a sudden with my foot still on the gas my car felt like it was loosing power as if i was putting my foot on the brake, it was at least for 30 seconds as if it was about to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway, im grateful there was no car behind me, because i really probably would have died getting hit from behind and probably hitting the gas tanker.. But when it did slow down my car swerved and I almost hit the big rig gas carrier truck, but i had to swerve back over into my lane, and about time i got back into my lane the power in the car picked back up (like nothing happened) and i was able to drive home but i just drove slow because i was scared. I almost died, it was scary, and now im afraid to drive my car. I shouldn't be having this problem my car is only 3 years old. I just got this car a few years ago brand new and still paying for it, and I'm trying to see how i can go about this, is it fixable? I have not taken it in to a dealer yet, but from looking it up on line there is a lawsuit going on from hondas in my year of this happening, that the Honda dealers don't know whats going on yet either.
Today, April 23, at around 12 pm, I was driving through my neighborhood, on a straight line at about 25 mhp with clear view no obstacles in sight keeping my foot on the gas pedal, when suddenly the car applied the emergency breaking, with flashing indication on the dashboard that said BREAK. It was a very rough yank. It's something I would expect at a near collision situation. But there wasn't anything ahead of my car in hundreds of feet. I believe the automatic emergency breaking misfired. I am very concerned about driving with it engaged now, so I have to turn it off every time I start my car. There is no way to turn it off permanently.
When I make a turn left or right even the slightest turn on the road and no matter the speed the Traction Control lights up And immediately at the same time the breaks are applied automatically by the car itself, making my car slow down thus putting me in danger of being hit by the car(s) behind me. Then, all the warning lights start to appear on the dashboard. And they stay on for about 30 - 40 mins then they disappear but themselves. Stopping the car and turning it back on doesn't make them disappear. I've taken the car to the deanship and they said it was the alignment of the tires and that they fixed it but as soon as I drove off the dealership it happened again. I happens every single time I drive. I'm afraid to take the freeway because the self breaking system is so abrupt that it's a miracle that I've not been hit by another yet. I've had this issue since at least 25th of January of this year 2022. For a car to apply breaks by itself because I'm making a slight turn is dangerous and it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or worse. I was scared today because I was going 27miles an hour on a regular street when the car applied breaks by itself and the car behind me honked at me. But I never even touched the break paddle. Please take this issue seriously, it's very dangerous to drive like this.
Rear brakes have been changed out 3x since 2019 car only have 60k miles . Vehicle have been worked on by Honda there’s nothing they can do but replace the brakes and charge me since it’s an “Wear and Tear” component.
On March 22, 2022, while at a stop light the brake pedal started going towards floor. As I was driving, the brake light system came on and went off a couple of times. I called the dealership and the car was taken in on Saturday, March 26th, 2022. When they moved the car, they told me the brakes felt squishy. On Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, I received a call from dealership. I was told the car didn't throw any codes and Honda would not let them fix the brake booster. I was then told, my Accord had a test booster put on it by Honda. I was never notified of this before purchasing car. Had I been told, I would not have bought car. I was told this is normal for the brake system to do, per Honda of North America. If this is normal, how come it started 2 weeks ago and not 3 years ago?? There is something wrong with the brakes on this car and I would like the booster to be replaced. I've been in contact with Stirling Honda in Longview WA who tried to get Honda to approve booster replacement. I've also been in contact with Honda of Burlington, WA as they called to see if I was going to return car or buy it(I'm leasing). Honda of Burlington has been less than helpful. Been told, Honda will not replace and there's nothing wrong with the car. Brake pedal should not be going to floor. When I start car, brake pedal will go to approximately 1" from floor. I've also had issues with car braking on Freeway...there isn't a car in front of me. I have a picture of brake pedal going to floor while my car is parked in my driveway. It is on my cell phone and am not able to attach to this complaint. Can email if needed.
On March 21st, 2022, I was driving between 35-40mph in clear conditions. I had adaptive cruise control, and lane mitigation on. My vehicle flashed “BRAKE” on the instrument cluster and HUD. The vehicle slammed on the brakes. The braking force was strong enough to lurch me forward and in the process of the vehicle braking, my steering wheel veered to the left and I almost hit a divided barrier. There were no cars in front of me or any obstructions in the way that would have activated the emergency braking. This is the second time in a year my car has done this, but the first time that the braking changed the vehicle’s direction.
I continue to have intermittent instances of "phantom braking" during highway driving when there is no vehicle near me in front. I am driving at 70 mph when the car suddenly slows and the red BRAKE warning flashes on my dashboard. It does not happen often, but once is all it takes for an accident. I have reported this to my Honda dealer over the few years I have had the car. I reported this to you a couple of years ago and am reporting it again after reading recently that your are investigating my model for the problem.
When my 2019 Honda Accord Sport makes high speed changes, the brakes will automatically start aggressive braking enough to cause a rear end collision. Driving on the interstate and no cars in front of me and then suddenly the braking system aggressively brakes the car. Very dangerous.
The ADAS lights indacstor turn on the freeway while driving, the brake system ligth came on and the car start braking while driving several times The problem happend 5 times on 4 weeks, i took the car to the dealer they replace the brake switch but the problem still coming up days after, now the brake ligths are always on even when nobody is pressing the brake pedal.
I would like to add a comment on the "phantom braking" as I have experienced it with my car several times. I am glad to see a formal investigation has been launched. I think a way to try and replicate this issue is to attempt to pass another vehicle (that is in the adjacent lane) BUT ensuring you are doing this on a curved road way. ...At some point the Accord gets "confused" when it looks liked it is "lined up" behind the other vehicle in the adjacent lane. It is real.. Please find a solution and bring this to a resolution. Feel free to contact me for further explanation. I cannot recall the exact date this incident has happened to me; hence I am putting in today's date.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the automatic braking system was applied inadvertently and the vehicle stopped. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,500. The VIN was not available.
Several times for no reason the AEP (Automatic Emergency Braking) light on my 2019 Honda Accord came on and the car started to stop. These events occurred in January-February 2022.
Vehicle will brake suddenly even if nothing in front. it has done this several times on the highway and feel this could be an accident hazard as it could brake suddenly and cause someone to rear collide the vehicle.
Tachometer issues.
Driving on the highway at speed. Started to accelerate to pass. After a very brief moment of acceleration, it stopped accelerating. Engine light started flashing on the dashboard. Due to loss of propulsion, myself and one passenger were almost rear ended. I then engaged emergency flashers. Had to navigate multiple semi trucks on my right to coast to the shoulder. Once stopped on the shoulder of the highway, I turned off power to the vehicle, waited a couple minutes and re-started the vehicle. Vehicle started, engine light was no longer on. Drove away. Took vehicle to a Honda dealership the next morning. They kept the vehicle for a week and could not replicate the issue or find anything wrong upon inspection.
For more than the past two years I have been experiencing unexpected braking while driving my 19 Accord. There have been probably 20-30 random incidents....generally when I am changing lanes..I think? The braking lasts for 2-3 seconds and then all returns to normal. This has happened when other cars are near and when there is no other car ahead or behind. On at least a couple occasions I received a nasty horn from the car behind me due to my unexpected braking and more than once an uncomplimentary comment from my wife about my driving skill. Several times I feared being rear ended. I explained this braking action as my failure to use the turn signal when changing lanes. Upon reconsidering and after reading the recent NHTSA alert, this is a sensor/software problem in the ESC/Emergency Braking system. Please give this issue your prompt attention. I am the retired engineering manager of the braking system subsidiary of HONDA MOTORS.
My son was driving and car stalled and wouldn’t accelerate . Engine light came on. He shut the car off and restarted. Thank god it happened in a rural road. No issues after restarting. Two days later engine light came on along with a Christmas tree of everything else. Took it to a friend who put it on his snap-on code reader. He said take it too dealership. Find out it’s a fault head gasket. They want 3700 to fix. The car has 87000 miles on it. I have never seen a head gasket go bad on normal everyday cars. I thought Honda was reliable. I thought wrong.
Concern was reported to dealership 2x. Sudden breaking on freeway at 55+ mph. Since June 2019, this has happened approx. 5 times. Most recently, Feb 2022, night driving approx. 55 mph on freeway suddenly rectangle breaking alert & sound on dash with car self breaking. There was a car 3 lengths behind and luckily didn't cause an accident. Each time, grateful there was no accident. 3 of the 5 times it was at night and 2 times during the day. 4 of 5 was 55mph and 1 time <45 (non-freeway) I believe the camera is getting confused with the lines/grooves on the pavement. This is dangerous.
This is a follow up for NHTSA complaint 11452424. After the engine light came on along with other warning lights, like a Christmas tree and taking the vehicle to a Honda dealership with a almost 3700.00 repair bill for a vehicle with with under 88,000 miles. The dealership said the vehicle needed a head gasket. The problem is the dealership did not provide the error code numbers. They just gave a price due too coolant going into cylinder number 3. I asked the service rep for a break down the for repairs, which he said was provided. The only thing provided was coolant leaking into cylinder 3 with no codes that the dealership found with the engine light on. I filed a complaint with Honda to off set the repair cost. Mind you we are talking about a head gasket. Honda denied the claim and referred to lack of maintenance. When I told the representative I do my maintenance. He said it was because the dealership wasn’t making money. Who in their right mind would pay 144.00 an hour maintenance when they can’t be up front and provide codes that were thrown on engine light for repair bill. I think NHTSA needs to investigate Honda’s technical service bulletins regarding cylinder misfires in 1,2,3 and 4. I am quite skeptical that a dealership can not list error codes on a repair estimate that they aren’t hiding something. My family will never purchase another Honda and I will share this Story with everyone I know. Something is being hidden if the dealership doesn’t provide error codes. I have never seen this in my 30 plus years of driving.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH with activated cruise control, the vehicle independently came to a complete stop as a brake warning light flashed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact was hit from behind by another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact suffered whiplash as a result of the crash; however, no medical attention was given at the scene. The contact spoke with a doctor and received a prescription for her neck pain. A police report was filed at the scene. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home from the scene but later had the vehicle towed to an independent body shop. The contact notified the manufacturer about the failure; the manufacturer denied that the failure was caused by a mechanical failure and believed the failure was caused by a driver error. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000
While driving at approximately 40 mph, the automatic emergency braking system engaged and brought the vehicle speed to under 20 mph on a busy road. This issue occurs repeatedly on the same road and location. The road opens up to four lanes and goes uphill at the point where the braking activates. I have had this issue occur in multiple other instances, with several near rear end collisions.
The automatic break system activated for a fraction of a second several times, the breaking system alerted in the dashboard. The vehicle has not been addressed. It cause a scary reaction of driver.
Car braked for no reason. There was no car in front of me that would require AEB to activate. Don’t know reason why.
This vehicle has a safety issue when it comes to snow on the ground and driving on a hill/incline. I was driving my vehicle through snow in the Ohio/WV region and when I tried to drive up a hill with snow on the ground the vehicle stopped. The vehicle would not accelerate and it seemed the engine just shut off. So I put the car in neutral and pushed the gas and I was correct the engine had no RPMs. This caused a huge safety issue to myself and the people driving near me. As I had ZERO control over the vehicle on an incline. The cars coming toward me and the ones behind me had ZERO issues with their vehicles going up this hillside. I tried three times to shut car off and back on so it would give me a few seconds of acceleration, allowing me to get up the hill a few more feet before shutting off again and possibly causing an accident. When I took it to my Honda dealer they stated computer showed no issues with the vehicle. And they have not heard of the engine shutting down or not having RPMs with snow on the ground. They recommended that I have tracking control off next time allowing me full control vs. the computer of the car however, I DID have it off. Once they heard that statement they informed me I have no other options. Honda did tell me when driving in snow other messages can go off and the car is still SAFE to drive. Which it needs to be as this area has tons of snow. However, that is not the case if the car just shuts off. Prior to the issue, the car kept beeping non stop with warning of break system & adaptive cruise control. My sensors were wiped off prior to the car shutting off. Yet again you can't keep a sensor spotless driving on a highway with snow. Two of the warning lights that showed on my dashboard were not listed in the manual. I am now afraid to drive my vehicle with any snow coming down. I have been a Honda owner since the 90's and I no longer trust this brand.
Vehicle has suddenly stopped with nothing in front of it on several occasions. One time someone almost rear ended me.
At approximately 16:08 EST on Jan 1, 2022 I was traveling westbound on I-76 at mile marker 146.9 WB (40°02'03.0"N 78°29'50.0"W) in the center lane on a straight section of road at approximately 70mph. Car mileage was 21264 at the time of the crash. The weather at the time of the crash was light rain and with temperature approximately 50F. The car suddenly and for no apparent reason began skidding / fishtailing. I tried steering to regain control of the vehicle and applying the brakes to slow down, but the car continued fishtailing. I did not feel the anti lock brakes engage at any point during the skid. I went into the left lane, and struck the center concrete barrier, causing the airbags to deploy and the car to come to rest in the left lane. 3 symptoms appeared the day of the crash which had never happened before: 1) Several hours before the crash, the vehicle began handling strangely. It felt like there was either steering or brake input from the land keeping assist / adaptive cruise control / traction control systems which was "fighting" me and causing the vehicle to swerve slightly. These handling anomalies occurred randomly about 10 times immediately before the crash. 2) About 2 hours before the crash, the check engine light began flashing and there was a loss of engine power. I pulled over and restarted the car, which seemed to resolve the check engine light / power loss. 3) At one point the adaptive cruise control turned itself off and gave a message about traction conditions. To my knowledge the problem has not been confirmed or reproduced, and the vehicle has not yet been inspected by Honda, my insurer, or anyone else. As of Jan 6, the vehicle is currently in a yard near Altoona PA awaiting assessment, and is available for inspection upon request. I informed Honda about the crash on Jan 6, 2022. They gave me a case number and said to work through my insurer on next steps. Honda service bulletin 21-052 may be relevant to this incident.
Multiple times while driving my car the automatic braking system activated with no reason, brakes were momentarily engaged. It has happened at speeds of 10-75 mph. I and any drivers near me were absolutely put in danger. I took it to the dealer when I first experienced it in 2020 and 2021 they were not able to reproduce it and told me there was nothing I could do. Every time this happens especially when I am on the freeway it is VERY disturbing and causes me a great deal of anxiety. There is no way to get this to stop. I have attempted to deactivate anything related to the automatic braking feature and it still engages. The orange flashing brake messages come up randomly. Im very afraid I am going to get into an accident. My family has seen enough tragedy and I don't want to add to that.
Upon accelerating on a highway, the malfunction indicator light came on and the car lost power. Without drive power it was very dangerous to maneuver to exit the freeway. The dealership recognized that this was due to issues with the intercooler and PGM-FI software for this vehicle and is spelled out in a technical service bulletin (Honda 21-052). However, even though the car is under the original warranty, they want to charge over $250 for the repair.
On 11/30/21, I was driving approximatley at 25 mph when my car suddenly came to a complete stop for no apparent reason. My foot was on the accelerator, an orange warning on the dash flashed and my head and neck snapped. This is the third incident this year. Other incidents were 11/18/21 and 2/6/21. Both were reported to NHTSA. Complaint number for 11/18/21 is 11442365. The Complaint number for 2/6/21 is 11395658. I do plan to take the car to the dealer again for diagnostic tests even though the tests performed on 2/10/21 showed "no system failure was detected at this moment". I fully expect to be told the same thing regarding this incident.
Twice in the last 4 weeks ( 11/18/21 and 11/30/21) my 2019 Honda Accord came to complete and sudden stop for no apparent reason. My foot was on the gas, my speed was approximately 25mph, an orange warning light on the dash was activated very briefly. Cars behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. Going from 25 mph to Zero, caused my neck to snap forward and back and forward again which was very painful. The mileage on my car was approximately 6,650. This exact problem first occurred on 2/6/21. Subsequently, I took the car to the dealershipd where they performed and scanned the vehicle and no codes or error messages were found. Ran air fuel system test etc. and they advised me that no system failure was detected. I reported the incident to NHTSA on approxamately 2/10/21. My Complaint Number for the 2/6/21 incident is 11395658.
On at least 2 occasions the AEB was triggered when there was no object or vehicles present in the lane. The first observed incident occurred while on a highway onramp, the road in front was empty when the brakes suddenly engaged violently. The second incident happened on the highway. I was in the left lane, Adaptive Cruise Control was engaged, Lane Keeping Assist was turned off
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the SRS warning light had been illuminated intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a fee would be charged for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I regularly had issues with the automatic braking system. On 11/2/2020 I was driving on the highway and the braking system automatically engaged, causing me to swerve and hit a semi-truck. This resulted in a total loss to the vehicle and ongoing back pain.
While driving the vehicle will just suddenly stop on its own there will be nothing in front of the vehicle. This has started to become a serious problem it first start happing last year but now is happening more often. When taking to the shop they find nothing wrong with the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages. I have not had any other problems with the vehicle.
Randomly my vehicles LKAS, ACC, blind spot monitoring will go out with a message to visit dealer. Also my exterior headlight controls won't work, turn signal stops working, backup camera stops working, rear trunk control, rear defroster. All steering wheel controls stop working as well. This can last for a couple days or as short as a few minutes. Every time I have taken it to the dealer the problem has 'fixed' itself and they can not find any errors. I have two videos I can share showing the errors. I did do a screen shot of the errors from the video and uploaded.
