FOAM/CUSHION IS GONE FROM HEADREST, AND A METAL PIECE IS STICKING OUT. THIS COULD CAUSE HEAD INJURIES IN EVENT OF A CRASH. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
IF A HARD TAKE OFF IS MADE THE STEERING WHEEL ALONG WITH THE CAR ABRUPTLY PULLS RIGHT. I'VE TOOK MY VEHICLE WHICH IS A 1996 HONDA CIVIC EX TO A CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME MY ALIGNMENT WAS IN SPECIFICATIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND IN MY OPINION THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND EITHER CAUSE OR HAVE AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE DID NOT YIELD AND HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH DRIVER SIDE CORNER. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURIES TO CONSUMER. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY. *AK
CIVIC HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS AND WHEN I LOOKED OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT WINDOW IT WAS ON FIRE. THE FAILURE SEEMED TO START IN THE DASH WIRING SOMEWHERE. THE FIRE STARTED THERE AS THE MOST DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FRONT PORTION OF THE CAR AND THE DASH WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS NOT DAMAGED, THE REAR SEAT WAS DAMAGED BUT NOT DESTROYED BY FIRE COMPLETELY, AND THE TRUNK WAS UNTOUCHED. FRONT WINDOW BLEW OUT AND THE SAFETY GLASS (MORE LIKELY THE PLASTIC FILM IN BETWEEN GLASS SHEETS) MELTED, BOTH FRONT DOOR WINDOWS BLEW OUTWARDS, AND MOONROOF GLASS SHATTERED. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THEY PUT IT OUT. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. IT WAS JUNKED. NO INSURANCE CLAIM WAS FILED ON IT BECAUSE IT WAS PAID OFF AND WE WERE ONLY CARRYING LIABILITY ON IT.*AK
I THINK SRS SHOULD HAVE WARRANTY, WAS RESET BUT LIGHT CAME BACK ON. *AK
VEHICLE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY AND EXPERIENCING VIBRATION. THE BELTS WERE ADJUSTED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE MADE A HORRIFIC SOUND. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE HARMONIC BALANCE SCREW HAD COME OUT AND DAMAGED THE BALANCER WITH POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CRANKSHAFT. THE BALANCER WAS REPLACED. CONSUMER, STILL CONCERNED ABOUT THE DEFECT, BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHARGED FOR CLEANING THE FUEL INJECTORS, HAVING A VALVE ADJUSTMENT AND FOR REPLACEMENT OF SPARK PLUGS. A MONTH LATER THE PROBLEM REOCCURED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. CONSUMER STATES WITH THE NEW ENGINE, THE VEHICLE DRIVES BETTER THAN IT EVER HAS. *JG
CAR SUDDENLYU DIED WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. *AK
BOTH SEAT BACKS COLLAPSED WHEN OUR HONDA WAS REAR-ENDED. WE (MY WIFE AND I) WERE STOPPED IN A TRAFFIC JAM (DUE TO AN ACCIDENT AHEAD) ON A DOWNTOWN FREEWAY (I-20 IN MONROE, LA). WE WERE REAR-ENDED AND KNOCKED INTO THE LEFT LANE WHERE WE TRAVELLED DOWN THE LANE FOR SEVERAL CAR LENGTHS, THEN HIT THE GUARD RAIL AND A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE (BY THAT TIME, AT A SLOW SPEED). THE SEAT BACKS OF BOTH SEATS COLLAPSED AND WE WERE LAID BACK. I WAS DRIVING AND PULLED UP WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, ALTHOUGH WE WERE IN A SKID. THE HEAD REST OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT ALSO BROKE AWAY FROM THE SEAT BACK. MY WIFE AND I SUFFERED ONLY SOFT TISSUE DAMAGE IN OUR NECKS AND LOWER BACKS (STRAINS AND BRUISES), BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THE SEAT BACKS SHOULD HAVE COLLAPSED THE WAY THEY DID. THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR WAS IN TACT AND THE REAR CRUMPLE ZONES WORKED GREAT.*AK
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY ON FRIDAY 7/06/2001 WHEN WE FIRST STARTED TO HEAR A SOUND COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE CAR. THE SOUND WORSENED AS WE WENT FASTER. WE WERE DRIVING HOME THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY AND DECIDED TO GET THE SOUND CHECKED OUT AS IT CONTINUED TO GET LOUDER EACH DAY. WE MANAGED TO GET IT TO THE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TREAD WAS COMING LOOSE FROM THE TIRE. THE VERY NEXT MORNING THE TIRE WENT FLAT. WHEN IT WAS REMOVED, THE TREAD CAME COMPLETELY OFF. I CONSIDER OURSELVES FORTUNATE IN LIGHT OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST TO THE EXPLORER OWNERS WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED REGARDING THIS TYPE OF TIRE AND IF THERE IS AN AVENUE TO GET THE REMAINING TIRES REPLACED AT THE COST OF THE MANUFACTUER. SRS LIGHT FLASHING, CHANGED THE LIGHT, NOW THE COMPUTER NOT WORKING.
SRS COMPONENT FAILURE. AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON - TOLD SENSOR UNIT NEEDS REPLACING. AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY UNLESS REPLACED. COST APPROXIMATELY $500. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 85000 MILES.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DEALER 4-5 TIMES TO REPAIR THROTTLE.VEHICLE HESITATES AT ANY SPEED WITH NO WARNING. WHEN THROTTLE GETS STUCK CONSUMER HAS TO PRESS DOWN ON THROTTLE. THEN EASE UP, AND REAPPLY TO ACCELERATE. DEALER HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT. RECALL 99I002000 DOESN'T AFFECT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE DUE TO VIN. *AK
HEATER CORE WENT OUT, AND MELTED DOWN RADIATOR, AND POSSIBLY ENGINE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS WILLING TO FIX PROBLEM AT OWNER'S EXPENSE.
ACCORDING TO USER MANUAL, SRS SYSTEM SHOULD BE FREE OF TROUBLE FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS, BUT THIS CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD,THE ORIGINAL PRODUCT HAS DEFECTS.. *AK
HARMONIC BALANCER BOLT HAS BROKEN IN HALF AND CAUSED ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN; DEALER/MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMERTHAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL, AND WAS OUT OF ITS WARRANTY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK

DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE POWER WINDOWS HAVE NUMEROUSLLY FALLEN OFF THEIR TRACKING ASSEMBLIES. THE WINDOWS THEMSELVES HAVE FALLEN OFF THERE HOLDING DEVICES, CAUSING THEM TO FALL WITHIN THE FRAMES OF BOTH DOORS; THEY HAVE NOT BROKEN...YET!!!!. THE WEATHER STRIPPING AND INTERIOR MOLDINGS OF BOTH DOORS HAVE BEEN RUINED DUE TO THE INCIDENTS THAT HAVE OCCURED; BOTH WINDOWS FALL OFF AT VARING SPEEDS BETWEEN 30-75 MPH, MAINLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 55 OR OVER. THESE EVENTS HAVE HAPPENED, APPROXIMATELY 4-6 TIMES.*AK
WHILE PARKING THE CAR AT AN APARTMENT COMPLEX, I SLOWLY PULLED THE CAR INTO A SPOT. THE CAR FOLLOWING SAW MY BRAKE LIGHTS. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THERE WAS A STRANGE NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE OVERDRIVE AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD INTO A REINFORCED CONCRETE WALL. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME BUT I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR, THE WALL STOPPED US FROM MOVING. MY MOTHER WAS A PASSENGER AND SAID THAT I SHOUTED" WHAT IS HAPPENING?" WE SUSTAINED INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT AND HAVE BEEN OUT OF WORK.
TRANSMISSION BLEWOUT. HONDA MADE THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FOR ONLY ONE YEAR. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FOR VEHICLE. ONLY HONDA COULD REPAIR THIS COMPONENT FOR $ 4000.00. *AK *SLC

AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER CLEARED CODE, AND SAID NO DEFECT WAS FOUND. CONSUMER STATED THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 30 -40 MPH AND REAR ENDED A 1986, CHEVROLET S10, THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. OWNER NOT SURE IF THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOTALLED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CAR WOULD NOT START. TOLD BY AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE ENGINE WAS FLOODED. THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 2 DAYS WITHOUT AN ATTEMPTED START SO I DON'T KNOW HOW THE ENGINE COULD BE FLOODED. WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ACTION TO BE TAKEN TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.*AK

MY CAR HAS A NEW TIMING BELT, A NEW IGNITION CONTROL MODULE " IGNITOR" NEW PLUGS, AND FUEL IS GETTING TO THE ENGINE AND FIRE IS GOING TO PLUGS BUT MY CAR STILL WILL NOT START. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THERE IS A SENSOR THAT WILL WILL CAUSE THE CAR NOT TO START.? I HAVE JUST BECOME AWARE OF THE THROTTLE PROBLEM AND IT WAS A RECALL BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE. IS THIS THE PROBLEM? AT THE BOTTTOM PULLEY OF THE TIMING BELT THERE IS A SENSOR, WILL THAT CAUSE MY CAR NOT TO START. WHILE DRIVING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AT 5MPH AND BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. *AK
DAUGHTER COMING HOME FROM WORK WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. WOKE UP, AND HIT THE GUARDRAIL. VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER AND SPUN, WINDING UP NOSE DOWN IN A DITCH. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
TURNED CAR OFF. CAR BEGAN TO HONK WILDLY, INTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED, DOOR LOCKED AND UNLOCKED, AND RADIO IS WITHOUT POWER. HAD TO PULL UNDER HOOD HORN FUSE TO STOP POWERING THE ELECTRICAL SHORT. THIS FUSE POWERS HORN AND BRAKE LIGHTS. FUSE MUST REMAIN PULLED TO KEEP HORN FROM SOUNDING. PREVIOUSLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRIC WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS. THESE WERE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. LATEST PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED BEFORE BUT DID NOT INCLUDE DOOR LOCKS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS. AFRAID UNDER DASH ELECTRICAL SHORT WILL CAUSE ACCIDENT (AUTO-DEPLOY AIRBAGS, ETC. WHILE DRIVING). *AK
WITH ONLY 32,808 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, I AM REPLACING BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR OXYGEN SENSORS. THIS REPAIR CARRIES A PRICE TAG OF OVER $500. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AS THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 1996. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM, BUT WHEN I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL AND VISITED THE HONDA DEALER IN MY AREA, I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK BETWEEN THE MILEAGE RANGE OF 50,000 TO 75,000 MILES. *AK
WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, FRONT BRAKES WOULD CHATTER WHEN DRIVING 55MPH THE BRAKES WOULD PULSATE. AT LOW SPEED THEY WOULD NOT FEEL THE PULSATING. BEEN TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR BRAKES. ROTORS & PADS HAD BEEN CHANGED. SO FAR, ONLY HAPPENED 3 TIMES. *AK
ENGINE SHUTS DOWN THEN WHEN RESTARTED, IT KNCOKS LOUDLY. *AK
REARENDED A STOPPED VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING APPROX 20-25 MPH. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON 10-14-99. ABOUT 6-7 MONTHS LATER, BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH SRS LIGHT STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING. AROUND 7/15/2000, SRS LIGHT BEGAN TO CONSISTENTLY STAY ON WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE SRS CONTROL UNIT AT A COST TO ME OF $450.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON A WET ROAD APPLIED THE BRAKES, VEHICLE COULDN'T STOP ON TIME, AND REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER OF AIR BAG DEPLOYED.*AK
WHEN ROLLING THE WINDOW UP THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE WITHIN THE WINDOW. CONSUMER ALREADY HAD THE WINDOW REPAIRED, AND THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. *AK
