THE DASHBOARD (INTERIOR DISPLAY) LIGHTING HAS ENTIRELY GONE OUT OR IS ONLY PARTIALLY WORKING.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, DEALER SAID THE AIR BAG SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NOT SAFELY DEPLOY IN CAS OF AN ACCIDENT.
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD CRACKED. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THE HONDA CIVIC. THE COST OF REPAIR WILL BE OVER $600.00 PROVIDED THAT THIS DID NOT DAMAGE THE OXYGEN SENSOR. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN THE COST WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL $100.00 TO $200.00 MORE. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURENCE, I FELT THAT IT MAY WARRANT FURTHER REPORTING TO YOUR ORGANIZATION.*AK
AFTER HIGHWAY DRIVING 2.5 HOURS, SMOKE APPEARED FROM UNDER HOOD AND CAR MISFIRED REPEATEDLY. AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM NON-FUNCTIONAL; HALL HONDA ATTRIBUTES TO COOLING FAN FAILURE BUT IS RELUCTANT TO REPAIR UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY CLAIMING PROBLEM IS RELATED TO PREVIOUS ACCIDENT DAMAGE THREE YEARS AGO ALTHOUGH ANOTHER MANAGER FROM SAME DEALERSHIP DISAGREES. *AK
WHILE MAKING A TURN PIN THAT HOLDS THE PULLEY FELL OFF, CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
DEALER DIDNOT DISCLOSE ACCIDENT DAMAGE PRIOR TO SAIL MAY HAVE CAUSED AIR BAG FAILURE BY IMPROPER REPAIR FROM MAJOR ACCDENT BEFORE MY PURCHASE

CONSUMER WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISON WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING INJURIES (ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT). *JB
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING AUTO COLLISON, INJURIES TO CONSUMERS. *JB
BAD POWER WINDOW REGULATOR AND RUN CHANNEL PREVENTED WINDOWS FROM OPERATING CORRECTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AS WELL AS THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW.*AK
AFTER VEHICLE WARMS TO OPERATING TEMP. AND THE RPMS ARE BETWEEN 2000 AND 3000. THE VEHICLE BOGS DOWN, RELEASING THE THROTTLE OR PUSHING IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE IDLE IS NORMAL. IF THE THROTTLE IS PUSHED DOWN AND THE RPMS RISE, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE CAN BOG DOWN AND THEN STRAIGHTEN OUT THE SPEED WILL RESUME TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH NO RHYME OR REASON ASSOCIATED WITH IT. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE ASKED COUNTLESS NUMBER OF PEOPLE. INTERNET SEARCH HAD SHOWN THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER AS TO THE CAUSE OR THE RELIEF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR AND I NOTICED IT THE FIRST TIME I DROVE IT. I BOUGHT IS USED AND IT HAD NO WARRANTY. VEHICLE NEEDED EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND TIRES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. NOTHING ELSE WAS MENTIONED. I FEEL THIS IS A HAZARD, AS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND IT HAS OCCURRED IN PARKING LOTS, AS WELL AS ON THE OPEN ROAD. I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE ONLY WITH THE HONDA 1.6 LITER SOHC VTEC 16Y8 ENGINE. THIS IS THE ENGINE THAT I HAVE IN MY CIVIC EX. *NLM
AIR BAG LIGHT SENSOR WAS REMAINING ON. VEHICLE HIT A DOG AT 50 MPH, AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT INFLATING. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
SRS LIGHT ON COMPUTER MALFUNCTION HEARD SAME PROBLEM FROM MANY OWNERS OF SAME VEHICLE. *AK
INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED, CAUSING SECOND DEGREE BURNS NEAR WRIST, POSSIBLY DUE TO GUN POWDER IN THE AIRBAG. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE HIT A GUARDRAIL HEAD-ON THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 40 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. *AK *ML
I FOUGHT FOR 2 YEARS ABOUT A BAD CTV TRANSMISSION IN A 1997 HONDA CIVIC HX WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. I WAS IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP AT MY EXPENSE ON A CONTINUAL BASIS. THEY FINALLY AGREED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AFTER MANY VISITS AND MUCH MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET FOR RENTAL CARS AND UNNECESSARY SERVICES THAT NEVER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. HONDA DID AGREE TO GIVE ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 7 YEARS OR 75,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION IN JULY 2001. I DID NOT WANT A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION OR A CTV TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE, BUT I WAS GIVEN NO CHOICE. IN MAY 2002 I STARTED REPORTING PROBLEMS WITH THIS REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION -- LESS THEN A YEAR AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED. LIKE THE FIRST TRANSMISSION, THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, THE DEALERS COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I JUST HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT GOT SO BAD THERE WAS NO WAY THEY COULD MISS THE PROBLEM -- JUST LIKE WITH THE FIRST TRANSMISSION. WELL, FINALLY AS OF AUGUST 1, 2003, THEY CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE PROBLEM AND THAT SEVERAL PARTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IN THE MEANTIME, WHILE WAITING FOR THE PARTS, I'M STUCK DRIVING A CAR OVER 100 MILES A DAY TO COMMUTE TO WORK. ULTIMATELY THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD. PERIOD! IT'S A BAD DESIGN OR I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TWO OF THE SAME TRANSMISSION TYPE FAILING IN THE SAME CAR. WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THIS CAR TO PURCHASE THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THIS CTV TRANSMISSION WAS SO GREAT THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE IN ALL OF THE HONDA ACCORDS STARTING THE NEXT MODEL YEAR. THAT NEVER HAPPENED, I WONDER WHY! I FEEL VERY STRONGLY AFTER READING MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE NHTSA THIS MODEL YEAR TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE UNDER DEFECT INVESTIGATION. IT WON'T TAKE MUCH TO SHOW THAT THE DESIGN ITSELF IS DEFECTIVE AND HONDA HAS HUNG OWNERS OUT TO DRY AND REFUSES TO ADMIT THEIR ERROR.
FAILED INSPECTION @ 21,000 MILES BALD TREADS UNSAFE- SUPPOSE TO BE A 50,000 MILE TIRE( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 1856514 )
APPARENT CRANKSHAFT/PULLEY BAD. UPON REMOVING PULLEY, BOLT, KEY AND CRANKSHAFT FOUND WORN, STRIPPED AND CHEWED UP. ALSO POSSIBLE TIMING GEAR PROBLEM.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT, THE DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT A RECALL ITEM .THE GAS PEDAL IS VERY ROUGH AND HARD TO PUSH DOWN FEELS LIKE IT IS CATCHING ON SOMETHING THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. *AK
FENDER LINER REPLACED 8 MONTHS AGO DUE TO ACCIDENT. WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, PART OF FENDER LINER CAME APART AND GOT STUCK ON FRONT LEFT TIRE, CAUSING CAR TO ALMOST GO OFF ROAD. CONTACTED HONDA BODYSHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN HONDA PROBLEM. NOT THEIR FAULT, AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. CONTACTED HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR WAS BOUGHT, AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING. *AK

WHILE DRIVIN VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCLERATED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN VEHICLE. OCCUPANT HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. ONLY ONE OCCURRENCE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
YOUR WEBSITE INDICATES THAT THERE WAS A CAMPAIGN FOR THIS ITEM, I PAID FOR THE REPAIR, AND UPON CONTACTING BOTH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE WORK WAS PERFORMED, AND HONDA, WAS TOLD THAT IT ONLY APPLIED TO '96 MODELS...IS THIS ACCURATE? SHOULD I BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS REPAIR? NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN SUMMARY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK (IN 5:00 PM RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC) ATTEMPTED TO USE THE SUNVISOR. THE SUNVISOR BROKE OFF AND DEBRIS WAS TEMPORARILY LODGED IN LEFT EYE. *AK
I REPORTED THE FRONT FLOOR MATS PROBLEMS WITH MOTORCARS ON 12/28/99 AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECH THAT THE MATS WERE NOT ORIGNAL HONDA MATS. I WROTE TO TROY OHIO, CUSTOMER RELATIONS CONCERNING THE VEHICLES FRONT FLOOR MATS AND INFORMED THEM THAT THEY WERE THE ONE THAT CAME WITH THE LEASE VEHICLE WHEN I ENTERED INTO THE LEASE AGREEMENT ON 10/09/99. WHY WOULD A VEHICLE BE "CERTIFIED" AND LEASED AS SAFE WHEN THE DRIVERS' MAT SLIDES UNDER THE ACCELARATOR AND CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER NOT TO BE ABLE TO ACCELARATE AND BREAK PROPERLY? THE NUMBERS ON THE FLOOR MATS ARE 4647-228 18816 GB-2 97/98 AND THE CARPET MATS ARE THE SAME COLOR AND GRADE OF CARPET AS THE INTERIOR CARPET IN THE VEHICLE. HONDA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO ORDER MATS. IF THE MATS ARE NOT HONDA ORIGINALS, WHY DIDN'T THE DEALER WHO "CERTIFIED" THE VEHICLE INSTALL A POSITIVE FLOOR MAT RETENTION SYSTEM CONSISTING OF A GROMMET IN THE FLOOR MAT AND A PIN BRACKET IN THE AUTO FOR SAFETY? MY LAST COMMENTS ARE QUESTIONS: IN CHECKING THE VIN NUMBER HAS THIS VEHICLE BEEN SERVICED FOR THE 3 RECALL ALERTS? NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 991002000 - FUEL:THROTTLE LINKAGES AND CONTROL. HEADLIGHTS HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT OPERATE ON LOW BEAMS. ONLY ON HIGHBEAMS AND EVEN AFTER FACTORY REPLACEMENT. BLINKERS DO NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY AND SEEM TO CHANGE TIMING PATTERN WHEN REAR BLUBS ARE CHANGED FOR A SHORT TIME. ONE BLINKS AT A DIFFERENT TIME THAN THE OTHER EXCEPT WHEN THE FLASHERS ARE ON. IT BLINKS FASTER IN IDLE AT AT STOP LIGHT BUT AS SOON AS YOU ACCELERATE IT SLOWS DOWN. THESE ARE THE AMBER SIDE HEADLIGHTS BUT ON HIGHBEAMS AMBER DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY. MY VIN HOWEVER DOES NOT SHOW UP ON HE RECALL. HOW CAN I GET THIS REPAIRED? I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE 1999 AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION EXCEPT WHEN MY MILEAGE MAINTENANCE IS DUE. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAG ISSUE AS WELL BUT HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW TO GET IT CHECKED AND IF NEEDED REPLACEMENT BAGS AND LIGHTS PUT IN. THE SRS LIGHT COMES ON AND DOES NOT GO OFF, THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURED DEALER REPLACED THE SRS CONTROL UNIT UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND DEALER STATES IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT COVER, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING THE SAME THING PREVIOUSLY.*JB
DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS ALIGNMENT, WHICH IT WASN'T. ROTORS CAUSED SHIMMY, STILL UNDER WARRANTY, JUST PURCHASED. REPLACED PADS & ROTORS. HAD TO REPLACE PADS 30K MI. LATER. HANSEL HONDA STATED TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN WE HAD THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT PROBLEM, THAT IT WAS A FAULTY ENGINE MODULE. THE CAR HAS HAD TWO START PROBLEMS FOR WHICH HANSEL HONDA STATED IT MAY BE DUE TO THE MODULE BUT WAS STILL BACK ORDERED. WITH THE SECOND START PROBLEM, ONE OF THE SERVICE STAFF STATED IT MAY BE THE MODULE PROBLEM BUT STATED THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THE PART. THE OTHER SERVICE PERSON THAT VERY SAME DAY, STATED IT PROBABLY WASN'T THE MODULE AND THAT THE PART WAS STILL ON BACKORDER DUE TO HIGH INCIDENCE AND REQUESTS OTHER THAN HANSEL HONDA FOR REPLACEMENT MODULE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. HE STATED THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE WHETHER THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE STARTING WAS DUE TO THE MODULE OR NOT, BUT THAT THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE FOR NOW. HANSEL HONDA STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS A PROBLEM NOT THEM AND STILL COULDN'T DETERMINE WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I ASKED THEM IF SO MANY HONDAS HAD BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALERS, WHY THEY HAVEN'T BEEN RECALLED. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. AS MENTIONED EARLIER, IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE THE PART WAS INITIALLY ORDERED. *AK

THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND APPARENTLY BURST CAUSING SEVERE EYE INJURY A TWELVE YEAR OLD CHILD (MY SON) WHO WAS WAERING HIS SEAT BELT. FROM THE INITIAL DIAGNOSIS OF THE AMBULANCE CREW TO HIS CHIEF CORNEA & OTHER EYE SPECIALIST - ALL OF THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG. WE WERE STRUCK FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE BY A SPEEDING VEHICLE AT AN INTERSECTION IN SAGINAW MICHIGAN. BECAUSE OF THE INTENSIVE INJURIES TO MY SON, HIS CARE WAS TRANSFERED TO THE KELLOGG CENTER, THE REGIONAL EYE TRAUMA & CARE EXPERTS IN MICHIGAN. ACCORDING TO CHRIS SURGEONS - HE SUSTAINED THE MOST MASSIVE INJURIES (VOID OF A FATALITY) SURGEONS HAS SEEN AT THE REGIONAL CENTER. EVERY MAJOR PART OFO HIS EYE WAS DAMAGED, THE CORNEA- BURNED, THE IRIS TORN IN SEVERAL PLACES, THE LEND DISLOCATED & ERUPTED (IT HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED), RETINA SCARRING, OCCULAR BONE FRACTURES, LOST HIS UPPER TEAR DUCT, TORN, SEPERATED EYE LID, AND SEVERAL OTHERS INJURIES INTERNAL TO THE EYE AND THE FACIAL AREA AROUND HIS LEFT EYE, THE LEFT EYE WAS THE ONLY EYE DAMAGED. MY SON IS STILL UNDERGOING SURGERIES, AND OTHER RESTORATIVE MEDICAL PROCEDURES TO RESTORE HIS VISION & HIS APEARANCE. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE HONDA CORPORATION TO NO AVAIL. I ALSO CONTACTED THE U.S. DEPT OF TRANSP SAFETY TO REPORT THE ACCIDENT SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT - I WAS SENT A FORM AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. I AM FILING THIS REPORT AS AN ASSURED WAY OF HAVING THIS CASE INVESTIGATED, NOTED OR LOOKED INTO, THIS MUCH DAMAGE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE TO MY CHILD. HIS PHYSICIANS AGREE TO THIS GIVEN THEIR HISTORY OF TREATING AIR BAG INJURIES. THUS, ONE COULD CONCLUDE THE AIR BAD MALFUNCTIONED. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED SCORES OF ARTICLES ABOUT THE DANGERS OF AIR BAGS - IT BOTHERS ME THAT THE PUBLIC IS MADE AWARE OF THIER DANGERS TO INFANTS BUT NOT AS THEY RELATE TO YOUNG CHILDREN. I SEEK SOME FOLLOW-UP T O THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR DISPLAYED A MADE IN AMERICA STICKER ON THE BACK. I DON'T THINK THAT MATTERS BUT I HAVE OWNED HOND
THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE HAD NOTICED THAT THE OUTPUT OF THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD BEEN DIMINISHING OVER SEVERAL WEEKS. THEN ONE DAY, A LOUD AND RATTLING SOUND CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. SEVERAL PEOPLE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD BRIEFLY FOR THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE WITH NO SUCCESS. LATER IN THE DAY THE OWNER OF THE CAR PARKED IT IN HIS GARAGE AND BEGIN TO INVERSTIGATE THE PROBLEM. WITH THE MOTOR ON AND THE HOOD UP, THE OWNER COULD SEE NO CLEAR SOURCE OF THE NOISE. HE RETURNED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT AT WHICH TIME A LOUD EXPLOSION OCCURED ACCOMPANIED BY A CLOUD OF REFRIGERANT. A LATER INVESTIGATION REVEALED A LARGE OPENING IN THE FORWARD FACE OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR THAT HAD BEEN THE RESULT OF AN EXPLOSION. ONE LARGE PIECE REMAINED IN THE CAVITY WHILE SEVERAL OTHER PIECES WERE STREWN ON THE FLOOR. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO OBTAINED PERMISSION TO REPLACE THE A/C SYSTEM UNDER WARRANTY. THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS INJURY TO ANYONE PEERING UNDER THE HOOD AT THE TIME OF THIS EXPLOSION IS OBVIOUS. THE DEALER WAS QUICK TO HAVE THE SYSTEM REPLACED WITH NO DELAYS. *AK

VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED REAR ENDED THE HONDA CIVIC, CAUSING IT TO HAVE A FRONTAL IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN THIS CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
EMISSIONS CONTROL UNIT FAILED IN JULY 1999. UNIT IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM (OBD). HONDA DEALER NOTED PROBLEM IN JULY 1999, AFTER I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR TESTING, BECAUSE THE "ENGINE PROBLEM" LIGHT STAYED ON FOR A FEW DAYS. DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE ORDERED PART, WHICH IS ON BACK ORDER. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AMERICAN HONDA, TO FIND OUT WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. I HAVE NOT MET WITH ANY SUCCESS. DIFFICULT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. PROMISES TO RETURN MY CALLS ARE NEVER KEPT. CAR DOES NOT DRIVE PROPERLY. IDLES VERY ROUGH...DRIVES SLUGGISH. AFTER VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE TO SPEEDS OVER 100 MPH. WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, DRIVER PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE PULLING OVER TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
