DRIVING HOME FROM LONG WAY IN. LAKE COUNTY ILLINIOS. SHIFT IN GEAR AND JUMP OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING AND POWER N STEERING AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN COULD OF BEEN AN BAD ACCIDENT THEN CAR STUCK IN ONE GEAR AND COMPLETELY WON'T MOVE. AT ALL ESPECIALLY IN WINTER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED, IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE SEAT BELT THAT CAUSED THE SRS WARNING INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

I JUST BOUGHT A HONDA CIVIC 2002 THINKING IT WAS A SAFE RELIABLE CARE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRANSMISSON STARTS GIVING OUT IN THE PATH OF CARS CAUSING MY SAFTEY TO BE A CONCERN I THINK ITS FOR THE BEST OF HONDA DRIVERS THAT THIS CAR GETS RECALLED FOR ITS TRANSMISSION ISSUES I ALMOST DONT EVEN WANT A HONDA ANYMORE
I JUST BOUGHT A 2002 HONDA THINKING IT WAS A SAFE RELIABLE CAR. THEN I FOUND OUT IT IS A FINANCIAL MISTAKE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSON IS GIVING OUT. THIS EXPERINCE IS CHANGING MY VEIW ON HONDAS FOR THE WORST BECAUSE NOW IM HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS AND NOT ENOUGH MONEY TO FIX IT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR ITS TRANSMISSON ISSUES
I KEEP HAVING OIL SEEPAGE -- REPLACED GASKET COVER, MAIN OIL SEAL, OIL PAN, ETC IS THERE A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN ON MY 2002 HONDA CIVIC DX
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG EXPLODED TWICE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAITED UNTIL THE AIR BAGS DEFLATED AND DROVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT, A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE, BUT NO FAILURE CODES COULD BE PRODUCED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WENT TO HONDA DEALER TENAFFLY, NEWJERSEY. FOR FREE AIRBAG REPAIR, THEY MIGHT CHANGE/REPAIR THE AIRBAG BUT STILL THERE IS CHECK ENGINE SIGN OF AIRBAG, PLZ ADVISE HOW TO REMOVE THE SIGN BECAUSE ONLY THE DEALER CAN REMOVE SIGN.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE A HONDA AND IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT AND MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS BOTH SAY THE SAME. TO GET IN CONTACT WITH HONDA AND TO MAKE A COMPLAINT THAT MY CAR IS LOW ON MILES TO BE GIVING ME THIS KIND OF PROBLEMS.I TAKE REALLY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO HAVE THIS KIND OF A PROBLEM ON A WELL TAKEN CAR.
TAKATA RECALL. MY SRS LIGHT HAS BEEN ON MY DASHBOARD SINCE I GOT MY CAR NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY THEY SAID I HAVE AIR BAGS. SO I DID SOME REASURCH AND MY PASSENGER AND DRIVERS AIRBAGS ARE RECALLED AND THERE IS ALSO A RECALL ON MY LO BEAMS ON MY HEADLIGHTS. NO INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GET THE RECALL FIXED ON MY CAR.
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING (MOVING AND AT STOPS). RESTARTS ARE IMMEDIATELY POSSIBLE HOWEVER PROBLEM REOCCURS AND LEAVES MOTORISTS POTENTIALLY STRANDED AND IMPEDING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE HAS 175000 MILES AND HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. ENGINE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENT WITH THE PROBLEM AND HAS INDICATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS FAILED, CODE P0420. HOWEVER THE ENGINE LIGHT CLEARS WITH DRIVE AND START CYCLES. ONLINE RESEARCH POINTS MORE DIRECTLY AT A WORN IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN CA, RELOCATED TO AZ IN 2003 AND HAS BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED ARE, TIMING BELT, WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, A/C SYSTEM, ALTERNATOR, IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUGS, SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, FRONT STRUTS AND COILS, FUEL PUMP, CAMSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR. ALL RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLIED WITH.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. CHARLIES MOTOR MALL (465 WESTERN AVE, AUGUSTA, ME 04330, (207) 622-7327) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY HONDA LOST POWER AND WAS REALLY SLUGGISH ON THE HIGHWAY WITH AN 18 WHEELER BEHIND ME.COME TO FIND OUT I HAD TO PUT IN A TRANSMISSION.NOW,LESS THAN A YEAR LATER I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READING PO740 01/01 TCC CIRCUTE MALFUNCTION.PUT IN TOO MUCH MONEY TO FIX SOMETHING ELSE.MY SON WAS COMING BACK FROM COLLEGE WITH AN HOUR LEFT TO GET HOME WHEN LIGHT CAME ON SECOND TIME.
TRANSMISSION GOES INTO GEAR THEN WILL NOT ENGAGE AFTER 30 SECONDS. REVERSED THEN PUT IN DRIVE AND NOW IT WONT ENGAGE
TRANSMISSION NOT GOING INTO GEAR. SLIPPING. LIKE A FALSE NEUTRAL. BOUGHT IT USED, AND HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT YET! OTHER THAN DRIVING IT HOME THE DAY OF PURCHASE. IT BROKE DOWN BEFORE I GOT IT HOME!! POURED MONEY INTO ENGINE REPAIRS. BUT TRANNY STILL SLIPPING. DIDNT REALIZE THIS IS VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE CARS, UNTIL WE BEGAN RESEARCHING REPAIR INFO! I WAS STUCK, IN THE DARK, ON A BUSY HIGHWAY...FOR HOURS, TRYING TO GET MY "NEW CAR" HOME. OF COURSE, THERE WAS NO WARRANTY. SO, IM BROKE AND STILL ON FOOT! VERY DISAPPOINTING. THIS SHOULD DEFINITLY BE A RECALL ISSUE. WITH NATIONWIDE COMPLAINTS OF EARLY AND MULTIPLE TRANNY FAILURES IN 7TH GENERATION CIVICS...WHY IS HONDA NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT?? PEOPLE LIKE ME CAN NOT AFFORD TRANNY REPLACEMENT COSTS. PLUS, TOO MANY REPORTS OF THE REPLACED TRANNYS FAILING AS WELL. THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FROM CHANGED OUT THE TRANSMISSION TWICE ALREADY. THIS ONE WAS NOT OLD..BY FAR!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 211,000.
CUTS OFF WHEN STOPPED IDLING,BUT WILL CRANK BACK UP
TAKATA RECALL- THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION ON THE EXPRESSWAY. IT SUSTAINED MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE, HOWEVER THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE MAJOR AIRBAG RECALL. THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED OCTOBER 2015.
SRS LIGHT WONT COME OFF. DEALER WONT FIX.

FIRST WEEK I RAN INTO THE BACK OF A SAFETY POLICE OFFICE WHILE ON CAMPUS AT TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE WE DID THE INITIAL INSURANCE REPORT BUT SHE CLAIM SHE WASN'T HURT , I COULDN'T STOP AND WHEN I HIT HER REAR END I GOT WHIPLASHED , THIS WAS MY FIRST CAR I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS , THE MAN JUST SOLD I TO ME WITH NO WARNINGS MONTHS LATER START RECEIVING MAIL ABOUT A RECALL I SQUEDULED BUT THEY NEVER CAME AND GOT THE CAR SO YEARS LATER I JUST SOLD IT TO PICK AND PULL CAUSE IT WAS IN OPERABILITY. FUEL PUMP HOUSING FOUND CRACKED AND ACTIVELY LEAKING FUEL WHEN PUMP RUNS. DISCOVERED FOLLOWING STRONG FUMES INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND OUTSIDE THE CABIN. CRACKS IN FUEL PUMP HOUSING APPEAR TO BE FATIGUE CRACKS. OEM P/N 17045-S5A-A00 OR 17045-S5A-A31
SRS LIGHT CAME ON. HAVE HAD DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG REPLACED. SRS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V320000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V370000 (AIR BAGS) WERE PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,800.
HAD AN ACCIDENT ON THE WAY TO WORK. HIT A CAR STRAIGHT ON IN THE BACK. I WAS IN MOTION. MY FRONT END WAS TOTALLY SMASHED IN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND NO ONE WAS IN THAT SEAT AND MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. I AM NOW SUFFERING SUBSTANTIAL PAIN AND BRUISES ACROSS MY CHEST, RIGHT BREAST AND ACROSS MY ENTIRE LOWER ABDOMEN. YES, THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE OR EVEN FATAL, BUT I'M BLESSED TO HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM THIS. I LOVE MY HONDA AND BEEN A HONDA OWNER SINCE ABOUT 2003. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA BUT I HAVE MY DOUBTS NOW. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN AGAIN CAN I TRUST THAT THE NEXT CAR WILL DO THE JOB THAT IT WAS MEANT TO DO AS FAR AS THE AIR BAG IS CONCERNED I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TWICE TO HAVE IT SERVICED FOR THE TAKATA RECALLS. I ALSO WILL ADD THAT I GET MY SERVICE DONE ON A REGULAR BASIS WITH AN ACTUAL HONDA DEALER EVEN THOUGH MY CARE IS A 2002. CHECK THE RECORDS IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN, THE RECALLS WERE FOR DEFECTED INFLATION, NOT BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T DEPLOY AT ALL. MY QUESTION IS WHY DID MY AIRBAG NOT DO THE JOB THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO?

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN AIR BAG RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE IN 2018 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V320000 (AIR BAG)) BY THE MANCHESTER HONDA (860-645-3100, LOCATED AT 24 ADAMS ST, MANCHESTER, CT 06042). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN FOLLOW-UP RECALL NOTICE ABOUT DRIVER'S AIR BAG WAS RECEIVED AFTER THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. *BF *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE LOW BEAM EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS GO DARK LEAVING THE HIGH BEAMS OPERABLE. I CONTACTED HONDA ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND AM BEING TOLD THAT IT WAS FIXED BACK IN 2004 AND IN THE SAME BREATH ALSO I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. THEN I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A DIAGNOSES DONE WHEN THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS OR SO BUT AS IT IS THE HIGH BEAMS WERE OPERABLE AND I DIDN'T BOTHER TOO MUCH UNTIL NOW. I WAS GOING FOR AN INSPECTION AND AS THE VEHICLE IS BEING TESTED FOR INSPECTION THE LOW BEAMS WOULD GO ON AND OFF AND NOT STAY LIT AS DESIGNED FAILING INSPECTION. AFTER THIS IS WHEN I CONTACTED HONDA KNOWING THERE WAS SOME SORT OF RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. SO NOW WHAT DO I DO?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINED THE CONTACT, BUT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT ROTATOR CUFF, STERNUM, AND NECK AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE AIR BAGS WERE REPLACED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD AN ENGINEERING REPORT, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, ALONG WITH COPIES OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
TAKATA RECALL
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND WAS ENTERING A MAJOR INTERSECTION WHEN THE RPMS REVED UP TO APPROXIMATELY 4000 AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AND THIS ALL HAPPENED WITH A SUDDEN JERK. I THEN PUSHED MY GEAR SHIFTIER (CAR IS AUTOMATIC) INTO NEUTRAL THEN BACK INTO DRIVE WHILE TRYING TO AVOID CARS IN THE INTERSECTION. THE CAR FINALLY ENGAGED AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A NEARBY GAS STATION. I HAD TO SIT IN THE GAS STATION WITH THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES BEFORE I COULD DRIVE HOME. ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING AND ALMOST REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS PRETTY SURE IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND COULDN'T CALL THE MECHANIC TILL THE NEXT MORNING BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNDAY EVENING AND SHOPS WERE NOT OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT IN THE NEXT MORNING TO A MECHANIC WHO OF WHICH EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WHILE TEST DRIVING MY VEHICLE UNFORTUNATELY WITH MY VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION IS ENCASED AND HE GAVE ME THE NUMBER FOR A HONDA TRANSMISSION SHOP. UPON SPEAKING TO THE HONDA SPECIALIST HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA'S AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT FOR THE CAR TO BE SALVAGEABLE. WHEN ASKED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST I WAS TOLD 2550 PLUS STATE TAXES. UPON CALLING HONDA I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN COVERING THE COST EVEN THOUGH ITS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THEIR VEHICLES AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR MY KIDS. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED.
TAKATA RECALL REPLACED TRANSMISSION $3,000 2014. RADIATOR 2015.. TEMP RISING SHUT OFF 2 TIMES ON FREEWAY SAME DAY $283. TOWING FEE ON AAA PLUS INS. . BLOWN GASKET. APRIL 2016. DONE. SITTING IN GARAGE. LOOKING FOR TOYOTA PRIUS, I SEE THEY ALSO HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS. WHAT SHALL I DO? CAN'T FIND YOUR HONDA HYBRID, I KNOW THEY HAVE THEM. YES WAS IN MOTION ON THE HWY.
HONDA HAS NO RECORD OF MY CAR FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. IT IS A CIVIC SI, 2002. THE CAR WAS DISCONTINUED IN 2005. I NEED TO KNOW IF MY CAR IS IN THE RECALL. I AM GETTING NO NOTICES AND NO HELP FROM HONDA.

ACCORDING TO CREDIT CARD RECEIPT, I PICKED UP VEHICLE FROM SERVICE STATION ON 12/19/2015. TO SUMMARIZE, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS SAID TO BE PART OF THE RECALL AND WAS THEREFORE REPLACED. THE DRIVER AIRBAG WAS SAID TO NOT BE PART OF THE RECALL AND THE ORIGINAL WAS REINSTALLED INTO THE VEHICLE. ON 3/10/2016, AN SUV DROVE OUT FROM A SIDE STREET WITH STOP SIGN AND OUR VEHICLES COLLIDED. THE SUV WAS STRUCK ON ITS LEFT SIDE TOWARD THE FRONT END AND MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE FRONT END TOWARD THE RIGHT SIDE. MY VEHICLE'S PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATED BUT MY VEHICLE'S DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. PHOTOS ATTACHED. MY HEAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD TWICE DURING THE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT. THOUGH MY CONCUSSION SYMPTOMS HAVE IMPROVED A GREAT DEAL, I CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE SYMPTOMS.

TAKATA INFLATORS- THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION ON THE EXPRESSWAY. IT SUSTAINED MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE, HOWEVER THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE MAJOR AIRBAG RECALL. THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED OCTOBER 2015.
4 CARS WERE DEAD STOPPED ON THE HWY 50. MY HUSBAND'S HONDA CIVIC WAS STRUCK FIRST BY A FORD EXPLORER - GOING AT LEAST 50 PLUS MILES ACCORDING THE CHP......UPDATED 12/08/15 *BF EVERYONE'S AIRBAGS WENT OFF EXCEPT OURS, CAR WAS TOTALLY CRUNCHED FRONT AND BACK AND AIRBAG SENSORS WERE EVEN SMASHED. ACCORDING TO A MECHANIC THAT LOOKED AT THE CAR, THE BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. MEL RAPTON (IN SACRAMENTO, CA) WORKED ON THE CAR AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT TIMES BECAUSE MY SRS KEPT COMING ON. TAKATA RECALL: I ROLLED MY CAR ON MY WAY TO WORK IN AUGUST OF 2015. I HAD GOTTEN A LETTER 2 WEEKS PRIOR OF AN AIRBAG RECALL. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS BUT DUE TO HIGH VOLUME I WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST. MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND MY DRIVER'S SEATBELT DIDN'T LOCK. I SUFFERED A FRACTURE TO THE BASE OF MY SKULL AND A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. I COULDN'T WORK AT ALL FOR 9 MONTHS AND COULD ONLY WORK 10-15 HOURS A WEEK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THAT. A WEEK AFTER THE CAR ACCIDENT I WAS FIRED FROM MY JOB WITHOUT SEVERANCE PAY AND I CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY TOLD ME TO KEEP CHECKING FOR CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS. I WAS DRIVING ON A BACKROAD GOING 40 MPH AND I HIT SOME LOSE GRAVEL. I OVER REACTED AND TURNED THE WHEEL CAUSING ME TO MAKE A U TURN. I HIT MY BREAKS HARD TO STOP AND MAKE SURE MY SEATBELT WOULD LOCK. THE MOMENTUM OF STOPPING CAUSED MY HONDA TO ROLL. SINCE THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY MY FACE REPEATEDLY HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND BECAUSE MY SEATBELT DIDN'T LOCK MY HEAD SMASHED THE ROOF OF THE HONDA REPEATEDLY.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA SAYING "...HAVE YOUR VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S FRONT AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED, AT NO COST TO YOU." THIS IS PART OF NHTSA RECALL 14V-351 I GO TO THE DEALER - KEN HARVEY'S DUBLIN HONDA AND THEY SAY THEY WILL INSPECT THE AIR BAG AND IF IT IS NOT A TANAKA INFLATOR, THEN IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED. I SHOW THEM THE RECALL NOTICE SAYING IT WOULD BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE REP SAID THAT PER HONDA, THEY ONLY INSPECT AND IF IT IS NOT A TANAKA, THEN IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED. EITHER AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR AND OR THE NHTSA SHOULD CLARIFY THIS RECALL NOTICE. HONDA KNOWS EXACTLY WHICH CAR I HAVE AND SHOULD KNOW WHICH INFLATOR I HAVE. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS THEY WILL REPLACE IT, BUT THEY NOW CLAIM IT IS NOT A TANAKA INFLATOR AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT.

SO THIS YEAR INSPECTION IN PEP BOYS (STORE ID # 1072), I WAS ASKED TO REPLACE THE TWO, BY MONROE PART # 71433/71434, $204.39 PER UNIT.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SYMPTOMS THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. DEALER DETERMINED TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED, BASED ON DTC CODES: P0700 A/T SYSTEM P0730 INCORRECT GEAR RATIO DEALER SAYS TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF (WITH A USED TRANSMISSION WITH 89,000 MILES ON IT A A SIX MONTH/6000 MILE WARRANTY) $2,700 INSTALLED. I DECLINED. CAR SEEMS TO BE RUNNING FINE BUT ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON, CAUSING MA VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION FAILURE AND I NOW HAVE 60 DAYS TO REPAIR IT OR TAKE IT OFF THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM WITH HONDA TRANSMISSIONS SEEMS TO BE ENDEMIC, BUT A SECRET. OTHERS HAVE FARED MUCH WORSE WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURES ON THE ROAD.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG WAS REPLACED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
