NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2006 Honda Civic. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact's daughter owns a 2006 Honda Civic equipped with Kumho Tires, Tire Line: Kumho ECSTA XII, Tire Size: 205/55/R16, DOT Number: 15MA0-1AH0-2424. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the rear driver’s side tire and the rear passenger’s side tire were bald and had no treadwear. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The tires were not replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
cracked engine block leaking coolant. Honda says it's not covered after the extended warranty expired. The issue starts happening in many vehicles after 100K miles and my car started seeing the issue at 135K miles . Dealer will not help, Honda of America won't help. this needs to turn into a recall please. Honda must reimburse or have the crack fixed.
- What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My 2006 Honda Civic engine overheated. Upon diagnosis it was found that radiator coolant had leaked out due to cracks in the engine block (short block). Engine malfunction. - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My teenage son drives this car and initially he did not notice coolant leak. Engine can stop working while driving on a freeway (seized engine) which is a very serious safety risk. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, local Honda dealer confirmed the problem and pointed me to a service bulletin 10-048 from American Honda [XXX] ) that noted this exact manufacturing defect. American Honda had provided extended warranty to allay customer fears at the time but without a recall. - Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was inspected by a Honda dealer, Tracy Honda at California. It was also inspected by another local auto shop and had the same finding. I am attaching those documents. - Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning signs. The issue was first observed on [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I.M.A reads a d check engine

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact was informed by a driver that her brake lights were not operating as needed. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, but the brake lights were repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted, and the brake lights failed to operate as designed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I have a 2006 Honda Civic GX compressed natural gas vehicle. The problem with the vehicle is the compressed natural gas cylinder that holds the fuel. The cylinders are only certified for a period of time 15 or 20 years. After that the cylinders are considered expired and must be replaced. Once they are expired, they cannot be recertified. The problem I encountered is a complete lack of knowledge of proper maintenance procedures even by Honda dealers that are certified to work on natural gas vehicles (NGV). See Honda Service Bulletin 06-015 1998-2015 Civic GX All and US Dept of Energy, Alternative Fuels Data Center - CNG Fuel System and Tank Maintenance. From the time I bought the vehicle in 2006 until 2024 I regularly took it to a certified Honda NGV service dealer. At no time did they perform any required NGV safety checks. My issue is that there may be many of these vehicles on the roads still that pose a real safety risk to the owner and public if the NGV fuel systems have not been properly maintained. I brought this safety issue up to the Honda dealer and Honda Motor Company and both declined to take any measures to alert current NGV owners or Honda certified NGV service dealers. If expired cylinders are still in service, they are at risk of exploding and causing significant damage and injury.
The contact owned a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the husband was idling behind a bus, a second vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear end of the vehicle. The impact of the rear-end crash pushed the vehicle into the rear of the bus causing severe damage to the vehicle's front end. During the crash, the air bags did not deploy and the seatbelts on both the driver's and front passenger's side had malfunctioned and did not properly secure the occupants. The driver sustained bruising of the chest and torso. The front passenger sustained a head injury. No medical treatment was immediately required. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to a local service center. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 170,000.
I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL.
Following completion of reporting Walnut Municipal Code (WMC) 3.40.010 violations at the end of my night, I walked out and found that my car was again vandalized in retaliation for filing a complaint related to the violation of Walnut Municipal Code 3.40.010. Such vandalism is intended to further disengage the workforce by causing expenses that are extreme, and such vandalism can occur as repeatedly as the nuisance of such noise violations involving such misuse of non-emergency one way communication speakers as radio devices to emit noise in the form of statements describing oneself as an enforcement or city professional, aside from some type of affiliation with a financial institution advisor, if not regulator of such related agency. In this case the vandalism involved not allowing turning off the red tail lights of my vehicle. The usual occurrence is kill switching the vehicle as if it is stolen, activating the alarm to prevent my usage, not unlocking the vehicle with the key, remotely disengaging the key from the alarm, and then engaging when an authority external to the dealer decides to stop precluding its use. Such actions targeting preclusion are usually alleviated after several additional inspections are made and planned activities have passed, eg a social event or deadline. Thank you for your attention. Continuous monitoring, including on the road, to create hazard. The following incidents are more about activities directly related to remaining qualified for a job and maintaining oneself in a state that is acceptable to employers. Reporter Name [XXX] HONDA Civic/CRX 2006Gray, CA[XXX] mySantaAna Work Order #[XXX] Traffic Engineering-Signal Issue Speed of Traffic Lights sped up and skipped through yellow to cause crossing at red or stopping within a foot of the crosswalk. Intersection has cameras around traffic lights. Timing was off enough to question, ie actually watching a stopwatch to know that it sped through yellow and ended green early from my view point was clearly seen. I will investigate further. Traffic patterns didn’t support such action and pedestrian activity just for that crossing was heavy while the other directions were not. Seemed suspicious but such timing had little effect on where my car stopped anyways. It was suspicious that there weren’t pedestrians traveling north and south on 17th or at the opposite side of the intersection, but that the side was on had at least 8 people immediately crossing. When I turned left onto Azusa Avenue to drive towards Amar Rd., two cars sped up in front of me. As both separated into each lane in front of me to drive side by side, the car on the left that drove in front of me, let out a significant amount of black smoke that began immediately after he merged into the far left lane in front of me after I turned left onto Azusa at The Heights traffic light intersection and ended immediately before the left turn p INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
My car ran fine when started but the a few minutes later, it goes into limp mode where I cannot accelerate. Then it stalls out and now it won't restart. I do not know exactly what the problem is but my check engine light, IMA and red battery light comes on when it happened. As of now, my car is not even starting. This almost caused an accident because I was driving on the freeway when it randomly decided to go into this limp mode
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that upon checking the fluids in the vehicle, she noticed that coolant had leaked onto the ground. Upon inspecting under the hood of the vehicle, the contact then noticed that coolant was located at the bottom of the engine and a small crack in the coolant reservoir. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 208,000.
Car wont shift an jerks when u drive
Engine overheats due to a crack in the engine block causing the coolant to leak.Overheated engine smokes and has the potential for fire. I did my research and spoke to handful of certified mechanics, the solution is as I understand is to replace the engine. there was a recall notice sent September 2014 to address this issue which I did not receive nor I had a problem at the time of notice. Could someone please look into this for us, it would greatly help me and my family to be safe on the road while driving this vehicle. Thank you,
On Friday 8/12/22 at about 12PM, the drivers side airbag on my Honda Civic inadvertently deployed while driving west on Hwy 28 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (coords 46.310194, -85.627542). I was driving the speed limit (65 mph). The car did not collide with any object. I noticed the airbag light had come on before the incident, however, there were no service centers or Honda dealers within at least a hundred miles. My safety was put at risk by the sudden and unexpected deployment of the airbag. My left wrist and elbow were injured by the deployment along with laceration on my wrist. I have an appointment at the local Honda Dealer (Thelen Honda - Bay City, MI) on 9/2/22 at 9:30am to have the vehicle/airbag system inspected. Unfortunately, there are no earlier openings for service. A claim has been filed with my car insurance. They have not inspected the damage at this time and probably won't because they informed me my policy won't cover the damage.
I am a loyal 35 year honda Car owner I own a 2006 Civic ex 1.8 Coupe I take every care and keep maint. up to date and even have done a 100k service at it's now low 38,000 miles as of july 2022 I have the fear that this vehicle because of such low miles will go bad because of honda faulty porrus engine blocks they know it was and is still a major problem. Problem with my car is not feeling safe to drive long distance in fear of engine block suddenly leaks and overheats engine. honda refuses to recall all 2006-2008 civics. So why own such a nice perfectly upkept honda that my family' feels unsafe to drive across country, PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL ALL ENGINES FROM 2006-2008 CIVICS COME ON WE HAVE BEEN LOYAL AND BUYING YOUR PRODUCTS NOW DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL A MOTOR THAT IF HONDA HADNT CHEAPED OUT AND MDE BLOCKS SO THIN THEY FAIL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. UNSAFE AND PROFIT SHOULDNT BE THE NUMBER ONE GOAL. HOW ABOUT FIX THE PROBLEM SO WE DONT HAVE TO SHELL OUT $5K FOR A CAR WITH 38K
Car lost power while trying to make a left turn across traffic. IMA battery charge dropped and no assist was delivered. Oncoming car was able to stop in time, but barely. This has now happened on a number of occasions. Car lost power while climbing a hill in a residential neighborhood (15 MPH) and barely made it to the top. Car lost power while climbing a short steep driveway and could not ascend; had to roll backwards and "force charge" the IMA battery in low gear for 10 minutes, after which I was able to climb the driveway easily. Decided to replace the IMA battery due to obvious malfunction although no codes were being thrown. Problem improved significantly but once again experienced lack of power on steep, low-speed hills and in our driveway. Battery software seems schizophrenic, deciding to charge itself rather than assist when power is needed, such as hills or merging into or across traffic, even when there seems to be ample battery reserve (for example, after swapping out the IMA battery it refused to provide assist on the hill with approximately 40% remaining -- 4 bars -- but will gladly provide assist at 50% + battery charge. Sometimes battery does not charge while braking downhill even though charge is needed. Unpredictable. The sudden loss of power whenever the IMA Assist decides that it *isn't* going to help is extremely dangerous. Honda is aware of this problem but has not offered any solutions outside of 150k / 15 year warranty on the IMA battery, which has lapsed on our 2006. Reluctant to let my young adult daughter drive this car as loss of power while merging or crossing lanes of traffic could result in a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the vehicle experienced shaking with all four tires bouncing. Additionally, the vehicle made abnormal noises and both of the rear tires kept losing air. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 07V399000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
*****BOTH KEY TRANSPONDERS WERE RESPONSIVE TO THE CAR TODAY, IE GREEN KEY LIGHT LIT WHEN BOTH KEYS WERE INSERTED AND TURNED TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE ALLOWING THE CAR RADIO AND WINDOWS TO BE CONTROLLED, UNLIKE OTHER DAYS WHERE FRAUD OCCURRED SO THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE BOTH AND ONLY ONE OR THE OTHER***** Unidentified party, most likely remotely, Stole control of my vehicle through manipulating non factory installed equipment that was installed after market and using factory installed equipment in a manner not openly discussed with the purchaser and owner. If it’s the police again or the manufacturer/ dealership or any court, has never disclosed or notified ownership or responsibility of such activities for now ten years. Spoke to manager again to inform that vehicle was again manipulated in retaliation to returning the gym when no open discussion occurred or report was received about not continuing a relationship between 24 Hour Fitness and myself as a member. Female onsite manager received reports that vehicle would not turn on again due to security alarm restriction, not mechanical failures, and that such activity was ongoing activity in furtherance of other abuses related to visiting that gym, such as vehicle and locker searches, which although not communicated to the manager, never resulted in further contact by the police or any authority regarding its occurrence.
The car developed a crack in the engine block resulting in coolant leaks. This is unsafe and produces a toxic smell. The car is only at 119,000 miles and Honda will not cover it because it is 10 years past the warranty date. This warranty needs to be extended further. 119,000 miles is not a good quality Honda product.
I am being targeted as a DRIVER since 2010 for driving programs that automatically adjust the weight needed to effectively press the brake and gas pedals of any vehicle. 4/8/2022 3:34 PM PST, such activities occurred when merging onto traffic on the 57 N freeway from Imperial Hwy on ramp. To confirm that such occurred and that it was not due to overwhelming the engine during driving in high heat conditions, e.g. 97 degrees. On past occasions, this has involved accelerating, although minimal, when I have pushed the gas pedal at E. Cameron Ave. and S. Pima Ave. cross walk, to cause embarrassment, harassment, reports, and use of my emergency brake because children were crossing following a crosswalk guard. This incident was reported during 2010-2012. Such activity was suspected beforehand but too difficult to conclude that such was the case w/o incidents like the one just aforementioned. Since 2010, the radio has played alternative broadcasts, especially during activities as the one mentioned above to cause alarm, stress or for the purpose of involving someone else, such as Maria Auxiliadora Hernandez, formerly Solis and now Flores, of knowing exactly what was said or what I was saying to myself w/o anyone around at any time. Such activities appear to be implemented as her work rather than the actual work she is supposed to complete for the company that she holds herself out as working for, e.g. the woman at the donut shop counter is supposed to be engaging in donut shop related activities, but instead begins to harass other employees and clients regarding what was emitted through the radio or what they were doing at the time of the broadcast, instead of completing activities related to staffing a donut shop. Such activities were used to control the extent of her work and her work environment in lieu of what she is contracted to complete. Cover up seems to be testing driving practices when its supposedly apparent that I am on my way to work in lieu of home
VIN is not actual vehicle in complaint; complaint is related to issue no. 11460208, where cars leased from Enterprise Auto Rental [ (next to Ontario Honda)- 4/7/2022 unnecessary lane departure warning and keeping assistance that resembled shoving in front of Quest Diagnostics at 6102 Orbis Way Ste 510, Eastvale, CA 92880 ], and Hertz Auto Rental (next to West Covina Honda; not Hertz in Texas) issue radio broadcasts to deter use of vehicle through radio broadcasts to cause impression that driver should not be driving vehicle, but w/ other continuous activities, such as through rentals from Uhaul City of Industry (17959 E Valley Blvd, City Of Industry, CA 91744). Its always alternative broadcast or a voice actually emitted, similar to CHP, that acts like I'm being pulled over. On 8/18/2017, sister intentionally drove in manner that I found unsafe or aggressive to show me that broadcast would still not be directed to her and only to me throughout rental period. Apparent to others since beforehand although no tickets or accidents existed that such discrimination would occur based on verbal statements. Such activities also lead to very repulsive customer service from businesses that seem to be required to be open during time leading to COVID-19 but where staff appears to lead against that decision, i.e. you walk into store you've never been to, but know of their customer service based on chain, and instead of being greeted, you walk by more than one store representative that you have never met before that treats you rudely, aside from even cashier, instead of no interaction with minimal interaction only reflecting trained protocol. This resembles Maria Auxiliadora Hernandez, formerly Solis and now Flores, when engaging in cooperative activity. I was never Covid-19 positive, and issue didnt improve after obtaining compulsory vaccinations. I would state that such recordings and people are intended to be intimidating although they mainly seem to be nuisance to me.
Initial Official Manufacturer Franchise New Vehicle Dealer Sponsored After Market Security Alarm, KARRS System; Official Manufacturer Factory Alarm; and GPS Navigation Radio System. Alarm was successfully set off several times within the time frames selected to protect the sleep and rest of the community, violating City of Walnut, CA municipal order 3.40.030 Certain noise prohibited. Alarm was also set to lock out driver after work (355 S Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789) after 11 PM PST, and then again down the road at Vons (350 N Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789), at 11:30 PM PST on the same evening, and on several occasions to be left stranded at 24 Hour Fitness Parking lots at 1600 S Azusa Ave, City of Industry, CA 91748-1674 and 18730 Amar Rd, Walnut, CA 91789-4168, and allow theft to occur at in retaliation for visiting 24 hour 21560 Valley Blvd, City of Industry, CA 91789-5241 and parking there. Put at risk others that were not on business who helped in assisting in shutting off battery to start car to be able to move it back home to get it restarted to take it back to the dealer; could've been criminalized for unlicensed activity. No. Only AAA. Usually drains battery. Yes. West Covina Honda R.O. 734681, aside from others; and Ontario Honda Tag 360212. There weren't any messages prior to the failure. Car went into similar mode that exists when one or more of the alarms are active. Both alarms were uninstalled, aside from the immobilizer and key component. At W.C. Honda, the green key light illuminated during R.O. Ontario Honda didn't provide details regarding inspection other than no issues found. Confidentiality not high; observers constantly get details and mock when possible w/o detection or punishment, inclusion non deterrent. Always seems to be protecting harasser/ criminal activity. Such activities make obvious that dealer service repair is similar to a closed examination campus, i.e. cannot always reproduce problem.
My fuel tank all of a sudden started leaking. It all started as a gradual issue. Very random and unusual. I always get this car serviced. Honda denies any part of the defect and was informed car does not qualify any warranty at 93k miles. Tank had cracked and this is unusual for a lightly driven car. First signs were gas fumes all over the garage. Consumer had a local shop check the car there were no leaks. Consumer had 0.5 of the tank filled.
KEY FOR THIS MAKE IS NOT RECOGNIZED. HONDA SAID IT IS A "INMOBILIZATION SYSTEM ISSUE. KEY FLASHES ON DASHBOARD AND IT WONT START (KEY PROGRAMMED). THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR. I'M CONCERNED IT CAN STOP AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
Honda Civic, 2006, engine block cracked and car overheated due to coolant loss without alerting driver to safety concerns, putting him/herself in jeopardy, along with other drivers/passengers. Overheating causes engines to stop operating which is extremely dangerous and costly. Driver ascertained that something wasn’t right at lower speeds (residence/business district). A faint whining was coming from the dashboard. This would likely not have been heard driving at faster speeds, and/or with the radio on. Once parked the operator smelled and saw smoke emanating from the vehicle hood and noticed leaking under the car. There was no prior warning sign. According to recent communication with Honda America by the operator, this engine block failure is a known issue and a result of a casting problem during manufacturing. A voluntary warranty extension was made in 2014 for 2006 - 2008 (extended to 2009) for Honda Civics for 10 years from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, many drivers, who were/are unaware of the warranty extension/issue, and for whom hadn’t detected/or had a problem prior are unknowingly driving ticking time bombs around. This warranty extension has since expired. Honda has not made an official recall and is not keeping drivers informed about the prevailing issue, which is unknowingly putting drivers at risk. Based on sales data for North America there were roughly 1.2 million Honda Civics sold between 2006 and 2009, many of which are still on the road today. For a refurbished engine (not new), plus labor it is estimated to cost between $1,500 - $2,000 for repairs. This doesn’t take into account the cost of human or vehicle harm. Video evidence of leaking at mechanics/smoking vehicle can be provided. Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V346000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The accessory serpentine belt produced by gates triggers misfires faults. The part is available for inspection. The misfires escalated to a point where the MIL lamp flashed and the vehicle derated while operating on a roadway. Had to emergency stop. After key off/on the vehicle acted normally. I was able to be confirm the misfire with datalogging. Gates has not responded to my communication effort. The vehicle had no issue previous to the belt change. It was running the OEM belt and was only replaced due to maintenance interval. After the misfire was confirmed with data monitoring a new OEM belt was installed and the misfire was confirmed to be gone.
13 December, 2021 VIN: [XXX] Background: 30 June, 2015 - Took Our 2006 Honda Civic 4 door sedan (LX) in for service (odometer reading 75,801) in order to address coolant leaks. This was a drive from NY to Boston. In Boston, I was driving about 45MPH, 1 mile before the last exit from HWY. Suddenly, the car is out of control, probably the brake system, making the car turning around until it hits the divider on the rear right side of the car. Both right-side passenger airbags were activated, but none inflated as expected. Luckily, we didn't hit any other cars. Three people in the car were safe, except I have muscle pain near the neck and shoulder.
I have the common issue the 2006 Civic. My engine block cracked. There was already a class action lawsuit on this matter but of course it only went 10 years. Honda was in the wrong here. Why was this not a recall? I'm super frustrated. Car is available for inspection. It is at the Honda dealership right. Now.
ENGINE BLOCK IS LEAKING COOLANT. RIGHT REAR TIRE IS WEARING OFF.
THE BLOCK ON MY R18A1 HAS A HOLE, THEREFORE WE PATCH IT WITH JB WELD TO SEAL THE PROBLEM, BUT ITS STILL LEAKING.
ENGINE BLOCK IS DEFECTIVE. HONDA HAS A 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE BLOCKS THAT START LEAKING COOLANT. MY CAR IS A 2006 AND THE WARRANTY WAS GOOD TO 2016. I AM DISAPPOINTED HONDA WILL NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE. ATTACHED BELOW ARE PICTURES OF THE KNOWN LOCATION OF THE ENGINE BLOCK CASTING FAILURES.
THE ENGINE BLOCK HAS A CRACK LEAKING COOLANT. MY 16 YEAR SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR. CAR JUST SHUTDOWN HE ALMOST GOT HIT BY OTHER CAR. IT HAS BEEN A RECALL BUT THE DEALER SAID IT BEEN OVER 10 YEARS SO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT.
PAINT HAS PEELED FROM THE WHOLE CAR. HONDA CREATED A RECALL AND NEVER INFORMED ME. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE DURING THE RECALL AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED IT. ONCE I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL I CONTACTED THEM BUT THEY SAID IT WAS TOO LATE. HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER INFORMED AND THEY SAID NOTHING DURING DEALER VISITS. I HAVE HEARD THEY DON'T WANT TO NOTIFY PEOPLE BECAUSE THE FIX IS VERY EXPENSIVE AS IT IS DONE OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP BY PRIVATE COMPANIES THEY PARTNER WITH. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THEIR RECALL.

CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING. AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FLUID LOSS. A LARGE PUDDLE WAS OBSERVED UNDER THE CAR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THERE WAS A EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS PAST THIS WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT THIS KIND OF ISSUE SHOULD NOT HAVE A CAP ON WHEN THE WARRANTY SHOULD END. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR AND MY CAR CUT OFF AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON , I CALLED AND SCHEDULED AND APPOINTMENT AND TOWED MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP . MAURA HONDA CITRUS HEIGHTS , THEY FIXED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG , AND NOW MY CAR HAS ALL KIND OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS .*DT*JB
THE IMA SYSTEM KEEPS KICKING ON AFTER DRIVING IT WHEN YOU COME TO A FULL STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK AND CAUSING THE CAR TO STAY IN PARK AND NOT ABLE TO GET IT IN GEAR. WAIT A LITTLE OVER 30 MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN AND IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO PUT IT IN GEAR AND DRIVE. I HAVE DONE THE RECALL HOWEVER IT IS STILL DOING THE SAMETHING.
GAS TANK STRAPS RUSTED AND THE FUEL TANK FELL ONTO THE GROUND WEARING A HOLE AND EXPELLED ITS FUEL CONTENT.
THIS 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAS LESS THAN 70K MILES ON IT. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2020, MY FAMILY DROVE ABOUT 8 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED A SMELL OF ANTI-FREEZE. WHEN WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION, WE CHECKED THE ENGINE AND SAW FLUID LEAKING ON THE ENGINE BLOCK. THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH SO WE DROVE ANOTHER 8 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY TO TAKE THE CAR BACK HOME. WHEN WE PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE, COOLANT COMPLETELY EMPTIED ONTO THE GARAGE FLOOR FROM A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. WHILE WE FEEL THANKFUL WE WERE ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE IN THE ENGINE HAD WE BEEN DRIVING A LONGER DISTANCE. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET, 2006 HONDA CIVICS HAVE RECOGNIZED ISSUES WITH CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS. THE COMMON FAILURE IN THESE ENGINES SHOULD WARRANT SOME TYPE OF RECALL AS THESE CARS SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED ON THE ROADWAYS. THE FAILURE IN THE ENGINE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND AS MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY, THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ENGINE SEIZING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS IS INCREDIBLY HIGH AND POSES A SIGNIFICANT RISK TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROADWAYS. I'M URGING NHTSA TO TAKE THE PROPER ACTIONS SO HONDA WILL REMEDY THIS SITUATION AND PREVENT POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURES RELATED TO THE FAULTY ENGINE BLOCKS IN THESE HONDA CIVICS.
