TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 50, 60, OR 73 MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATED IN THE FRONT AND REAR ENDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE; THE VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WASN'T CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A PROPER ALIGNMENT SHOULD CORRECT THE FAILURE AND HAS DECLINED TO FURTHER ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED; THEREFORE HE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL REPAIR TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE UPPER RIGHT MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE MOUNT COLLAPSED AND WAS SITTING ON THE FRAME CAUSING VIBRATION AND RESONANCE. UPDATED EVOQ 02/15/12 UPDATED 02/17/12 THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS NOTICED CONSIDERABLE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT VIBRATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE STEERING WAS FIRM. UPDATED 03/09/12
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAD REST IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CAUSES NECK PAIN. SHE IS ONLY 5'1 AND THE HEAD REST DOES NOT ACCOMMODATE HER HEIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN; HOWEVER, SHE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE FULL AFFECT UNTIL AFTER SHE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE HOME. THE HEAD REST IS TILTED FORWARD AND CONE SHAPED. HONDA STATED THAT THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN THREE COMPLAINTS FOR THIS FEATURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SHAPE OF THE HEAD REST WAS TO PREVENT WHIPLASH IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO UPGRADE OR ADJUST THE HEAD REST FOR SAFETY PURPOSES DUE TO LIABILITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK OR MAKE ANY REPAIRS WHATSOEVER. THE ONLY DEAL THAT THE DEALER OFFERED WAS TO GIVE HER AN UPGRADE OF THE CIVIC FOR $10,000 MORE OF WHAT HER VEHICLE WAS WORTH. THEY THEN OFFERED HER A 2008 HONDA ACCORD THAT WAS $6,500 MORE DUE TO THE ADDENDUM. THE DEALER FINALLY OFFERED HER A 2007 DEMO VEHICLE FOR $3,000 MORE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT HER INTELLIGENCE WAS BEING INSULTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 250. UPDATED 01-29-08. *KB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN ICY CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONSTANTLY SLIDE AS IF IT WERE DRIVING BACKWARDS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000. DEC 18, 2007 DRIVING 2008 HONDA CIVIC LX APPROX 73 MPH ON INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. PASSENGER UNBUCKLED SEAT BELT TO REACH FOR ITEM IN BACK SEAT. SEAT BELT DISCONNECT BEEP SOUND, AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN ACCELERATING UNTIL CRUISE CONTROL MANUALLY CANCELED AS RESULT. AFTER PASSENGER REBUCKLED, WE ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE FOLLOWING SAME STEPS--WITH SAME RESULTS. THEREAFTER, TRIED TO REPLICATE TWO OR THREE TIMES, BUT UNABLE TO REPLICATE--I.E., NO ACCELERATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK COVER LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT WHENEVER THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS OPEN AND CLOSE THE FUEL TANK CAP. THE FAILURE RECURRED MANY TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON MANY OCCASIONS AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PERFORM THE SAME REMEDY HERSELF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PROGRESSED UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LEAKED OIL AND COOLANT. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ONCE DUE TO WATER LEAKS AND THE HORN WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,009.
MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC SI DRIVE-BY-WIRE THROTTLE KEEPS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THIS HAS CAUSED TWO NEAR CRASHES IN THE FIRST WEEK THAT I OWNED THE VEHICLE. I NOW KEEP THE CAR PARKED IN THE GARAGE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FOR THE THOUSANDS OF CIVIC SI OWNERS. THE HONDA CIVIC SI'S SHOULD BE RECALLED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START DUE TO A DEFECTIVE FUEL VALVE. THE CONTACT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE FUEL VALVE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SMELL. LATER, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,323.
LIKE MANY OF THE TIRE WEAR COMPLAINTS FOR THIS VEHICLE, REAR TIRES DEVELOPED IRREGULAR FLAT SPOTS, AND REAR TIRES WERE VERY NOISY. TALKED WITH KEN IN TORRANCE, CA (AMERICAN HONDA) BUT HONDA REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY. AFTER TWO SETS OF TIRES IN 33,000 MILES, KEN AGREED TO PAY 50% OF NEXT TIRE PURCHASE. IF THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, THEN WHY WOULD KEN AGREE TO PAY HALF OF NEXT TIRE PURCHASE?
HONDA CIVIC 2008: DRIVER SIDE'S SUN VISOR FAILURE IN 7/21/07, 10/6/08, 8/10/09, & 7/5/10. PASSENGER SIDE'S SUN VISOR FAILURE IN 4/27/09 AND 8/2/10. SUN VISOR FAILURES INTERFERES WITH VISIBILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING AN UNUSUAL GRINDING NOISE. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE CRYSTALLIZED. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE BRAKE PADS AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WOULD NOT RECUR; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN TWO DAYS. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ON HER VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN TWO YEARS. THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,258 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
2008 HONDA CIVIC HAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE AIR CONDENSER. *NJ THE CONSUMER HAD A PROTECTIVE MESH SCREEN INSTALLED BEHIND THE GRILLE TO KEEP THE CONDENSER FROM BEING DAMAGED BY ROAD DEBRIS. *JB
BAD PAINT CRACKING CLEAR COAT.
PAINT IS DETERIORATING AND THE METAL WILL SOON BE EXPOSED TO RUST.
