THE CAR DRIP WEATHER TRIM ARE COMING OUT, NEEDS REPLACEMENT WHICH COST SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH, I HAVE OBSERVED THIS IN MANY CARS OF EIGHT GENERATION HONDA CIVIC, INCLUDING MY CAR. IT NEEDS INVESTIGATION AND DECIDE, BECAUSE OF LOSING THIS TRIM., CAR INSIDE IS LEAKING IN RAIN, THE SEAL IS NOT PROPER. THIS WILL BE SAFETY CONCERN OVERTIME.

THE BLOCK CRACKED CAUSING A ANTIFREEZE LEAK. HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON 08 CIVICS AN EXTRA 10 YEARS FROM ORIGINAL WARRANTY WHICH WOULD ALLOW MY CIVIC TO STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY ONLY PERTAINED TO FIRST OWNERS. I SUSPECT MY PROBLEM OCCURRED ON WEDNESDAY 4/21/2021 AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. IT HAS NEVER OVERHEATED SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT.
2008 HONDA CIVIC LX SEAT BELT BUCKLE HAS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT WILL NOT DEPLOY AIRBAG DUE TO FAULTY MICRO SWITCH. HONDA HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON MODEL YEARS PRIOR TO MINE. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT. J CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME MY MODEL YEAR WARRANTY IS 15 YEARS 150K. THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR YEARS. I ASSUMED IT WAS FINE TILL A LOCAL OIL CHANGE PLACE TOLD ME IT WASN'T!
MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND I BELIEVE IT'S A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IT WON'T TURN ON NO MATTER IF SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT OR NOT
WE HAD A CAR ACCIDENT ON CHRISTMAS DUE TO ICE ON THE ROAD AND ENDED UP HITTING 2 TELEPHONE POLES! NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL! WE HIT THE POLES HEAD ON! I HAVE HAD THE AIRBAGS FIXED FROM THE RECALL AND NEVER BEEN IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT TO HAVE TO HAVE AIRBAGS FIXED SO THERE WAS NO REASON THEM TO NOY DEPLOY!
ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED WHILE I STARTED DRIVING IT TODAY AND CAR OVERHEATED, TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS 2YEARS OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD ASKED BEFORE IF IT WAS IN THE RECALL AND THEY SAID IF IT WASNT CRACKED IT WOULDNT BE UNDER WARRANTY
I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 7 MONTH AGO AND REPLACED BRAKES, ROTORS, A TIRE, REPAIRED A BROKEN LUGNUT, AND NOW THE ENGINE HAS OVERHEATED AND BLOWN AND IS EVIDENTLY NOT COVERED UNDER THE PREVIOUS WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS PAST EXPIRATION (YEAR AND MILEAGE). PUTTING A USED ENGINE INTO THE VEHICLE IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND MY DEALERSHIP IS NOT WILLING TO PUT A NEW ONE IN. WHEN IT BEGAN OVERHEATING, I HAD JUST PULLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY (AVERAGE SPEED OF ABOUT 50) AND NOTICED THAT MY HEAT WASN'T WORKING (WHICH WAS WEIRD SINCE I HAD REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT ALREADY A FEW WEEKS PRIOR) AND THEN THE CAR READ AS HOT AS POSSIBLE. WHEN I SAFELY PULLED OVER, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND IT WAS TOWED TO A RELIABLE MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS THE COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK, BUT WAS NOT PART OF THE WARRANTY ANYMORE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR SERVICE ON THE WATER PUMP AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
HONDA EXTENDED A WARRANTY FOR 2006-2008 CIVICS TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE ENGINE BLOCKS. I HAVE A 2008 CIVIC THAT HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE SO I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE UNTIL NOW. THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR REPLACEMENT WARRANTY, NOR DID THE DEALERSHIP SAY ANYTHING TO ME WHEN I HAD MY CAR SERVICED THERE SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR SINCE 2015. WHY WOULD THEY NOT SAY SOMETHING? NOW I'M LEFT WITH A CAR THAT IS USELESS AND I BET THE DEALERSHIP I HAVE PURCHASED MORE THAN 5 CARS FROM WILL TAKE IT AS A TRADE IN. IT WAS IN MOTION PARKED TO GO IN THE STORE AND CAME OUT TO ALL OF MY ANTIFREEZE ON THE PAVEMENT. HAD TO LIMP IT SOME SO IT WOULDN'T CAUSE MORE DAMAGE.
BRAKESI.COM 301 MAIN ST, SUITE#19, SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94105 DBA "CALLAHAN BRAKE PARTS" SOLD ON AMAZON.COM THIS SUPPLIER HAS SOLD AND IS SELLING UNSAFE REBUILT BRAKE CALIPERS. THERE ARE SEVERAL RUBBER SEALS IN BRAKE CALIPERS. IF A RUBBER PART FAILS, WATER WILL ENTER CRITICAL PARTS CAUSING THEM TO RUST AND SEIZE. THIS MAY RESULT IN UNSAFE BRAKE OPERATION OR BRAKE FAILURE. ON OUR CAR THIS CAUSED A BRAKE CALIPER TO SEIZE CAUSING UNEVEN BRAKING. AN INSPECTION FOUND ALL THE RUBBER PARTS IN THE AFFECTED CALIPERS HAD DISINTEGRATED. THE CALIPERS WERE APPROXIMATELY 22 MONTHS OLD. CLEARLY INFERIOR RUBBER MATERIAL WAS USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THESE PRODUCTS.
GAS TANK LEAKS WHEN FILLED, DRIVING OR SITTING. SEAL ON TANK TO FILLER NECK. GAVE NO CODE ON THE EMISSION SYSTEM AND PASSED SMOKE TEST AT REPAIR SHOP. CONTACTED HONDA HEADQUARTERS. VIN NUMBER NOT LISTED ON FUEL TANK WARRANTY EXTENSION 11-0689. EXTENSION ON CIVIC 2006 TO 2011.

GOOD AFTERNOON, MY 2008 CIVIC (137,500 MILES) OVERHEATED WHILE ON HIGHWAY & AFTER PULLING OVER & CHECKING COOLANT SPILL TANK SAW IT WAS EMPTY. NEXT DAY REFILLED RADIATOR WITH COOLANT & AFTER STARTING CAR NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING ON GROUND AT FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE. I COULD NOT LOCATE LEAK. DROVE TO NEAREST HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT & AT SERVICE (VIA PRESSURE TEST OF ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM) A CRACK IN ENGINE BLOCK BETWEEN CYL. 1 & 2 WAS LOCATED. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECH THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF ENGINE BLOCK CRACK/ DEFECT & INSTEAD OF ISSUING A SERVICE RECALL WHAT THEY DID WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION OF 10 YEARS. HOWEVER, THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED 2 YEARS AGO. SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AMERICAN HONDA CORP. FOR GOODWILL ASSISTANCE TO TRY & HELP WITH REPAIRS BUT AMERICAN HONDA REJECTED/ DECLINED THE REQUEST & HAS LEFT ME WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I AM NOT ABLE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE NO CAR FOR WORK, FOR MY MOM/ DAD DOCTOR VISITS/ FOR SUPERMARKET/ FOR LIFE. COSTS OF REPAIR ARE ARE ABOVE $5,000. I WAS THE 2ND OWNER OF MY 2008 CIVIC & WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY HONDA OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION OR OF A POSSIBLE RECALL NOTIFICATION OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. ALLOWED TO DO A "WARRANTY EXTENSION" TO RESOLVE A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE CRACKS & ONLY WHEN YOU NOTICE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING, THESE VEHICLES CAN HAVE AN ENGINE FAILURE/ STALL WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF CRASH. VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT WITH A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. DEALERSHIP REFERRED ME TO HONDA CORPORATION REGARDING WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT ON ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA CORP DENIED ME ASSISTANCE BECAUSE VEHICLE AGE IS PAST THEIR 10 YEAR EXTENSION PERIOD. I'M SECOND OWNER ON THIS VEHICLE AND DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WAS A POTENTIAL ENGINE MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR (FIRST OWNER DID NOT DISCLOSE THIS). ESTIMATED KBB VALUE WAS $4500-5000 WHICH NOW IS A NEAR TOTAL LOSS AND SALVAGE VALUE. COST FOR REPAIR IS EQUAL OR HIGHER THAN RETAIL VALUE. VEHICLE HAS WELL DOCUMENTED SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE RECORD. SEEMS UNFAIR FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT TO PLACE ALL THE COST ON THE OWNER WHEN THERE IS NO OWNER CAUSE FOR THIS PROBLEM.

ON MARCH 5TH 2020 WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE ON MY 2008 CIVIC JUST DIED ON ME, UPON DOING RESEARCH I SAW THAT HONDA HAD A EXTENDED WARRANTY I CALLED ON MARCH 9TH 2020 TO SEE IF MY CAR WAS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD THAT I WAS 2 YEARS LATE & IT WAS ONLY SENT TO THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE CAR WHICH MADE NO SENSE...THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE & I AM OUT OF MONEY BECAUSE HONDA DOESN'T WANT TO ADDRESS ISSUES CORRECTLY...

THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS AND NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MANUFACTURER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE DEALER WOODHOUSE FORD AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. WELL HONDA HAD A ENGINE BLOCK RECALL THAT I WASENT AWARE 10-048 OF AND NOW MY ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT COOLANT LEAKED ALL OVER THE PLACE AND NOW HONDA SAYS THEY WONT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE WARRANTY THAT I WAS NOT AWARE OF WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR .

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND FOUND THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE ENGINE BLOCK FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER FOR THE WARRANTED REPAIR, WHICH WAS FOR TWO YEARS. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 10080302. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PARAGON HONDA (5702 NORTHERN BOULEVARD, WOODSIDE, NY 11377, (877) 343-9132) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,230.
MY HONDA CIVIC EXPERIENCED SEVERE REAR TIRE WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGES ABOUT 10 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE (AS A NEW VEHICLE). IN OCTOBER 2009, THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS AS DESCRIBED IN HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001, WHICH HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED BY SB 13-047 (ATTACHED). THE ARM REPLACEMENT WAS INTENDED TO RETURN THE TIRE CAMBER ANGLE TO ZERO (SEE ALIGNMENT CRITERIA IN LAST PAGE OF TSB) SO THE THE WHEEL WOULD BE PERPENDICULAR TO THE ROAD, AND NO LONGER CAUSE WEAR AT THE INSIDE EDGES. AT A RECENT INSPECTION, THE TIRES WERE AGAIN FOUND TO BE WORN AT THE INSIDE EDGES: THERE WAS ABOUT 1/4 INCH OF TREAD ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE, BUT THE CORDS WERE SHOWING ON THE INSIDE EDGES. I VALIDATED THAT THE DEALER HAD ACTUALLY INSTALLED NEW CONTROL ARMS (THEY ARE MARKED WITH A "C" AS DESCRIBED IN THE BULLETIN). USING A LEVEL, I DETERMINED THAT THE TOP EDGE OF THE WHEEL WAS LEANING INWARD ABOUT 9/16" INCH, SO IT IS APPARENT THAT THE REPLACEMENT ARMS DO NOT CORRECT THE CAMBER ANGLE PROBLEM. IT IS TRUE THAT THE TIRE WEAR RATE HAS BEEN REDUCED BY THE REPLACEMENT ARMS. HOWEVER, SINCE THE INSIDE EDGE WEAR IS NOT OBVIOUS WITHOUT CRAWLING UNDER THE CAR, THIS CONDITION COULD LEAD TO TIRE FAILURE. I CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING AFTERMARKET CONTROL ARMS THAT HAVE A LENGTH ADJUSTMENT, WHICH ALLOWS THE CORRECT CAMBER TO BE ACHIEVED DURING ALIGNMENT. AS SHOWN ON PAGE 1 OF THE SB, THE HONDA ARM HAS NO LENGTH ADJUSTMENT.
KNOWN CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK ISSUE BY AUTO MAKER ON SOME 2006-2009 MODELS
I got into an accident and my air bags never deployed.
AT 85,000 MILES, MY ENGINE BLOCKED CRACKED IN ONE OF THE 4 SPOTS IDENTIFIED BY HONDA ENGINEERS IN THEIR OWN SERVICE BULLETIN (10-048). MY CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE-KEPT AND RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED IN TERMS OF SERVICE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. MY PRIMARY ISSUE (AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER) IS THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM.

MY CAR WENT FROM NORMAL TEMP TO EXTREMELY OVERHEATING IN ABOUT THREE MINUTES OF IDLING. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM OFF AND ON OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS, INCLUDING WHILE DRIVING, AND HAVE HAD TO ADD COOLANT ABOUT FIVE TIMES IN THE LAST FOR YEARS. THE MECHANIC COULD NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM UNTIL TODAY. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. THE ENGINE BLOCK RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED, AND SHE DEFINITELY INCLUDED THE RADIATOR SINCE FATHER'S CHERRY WHERE THE PROBLEM STARTS.

Having a lot of problems, coolant leaking, when in park. Power steering, engine idles when in park and at a stop light.When passing on the brake the car idles so have to push really hard on brake. Passenger air bag light never turns on. Ac blows hot air then cold then hot again. The car makes a really loud noise from the engine and wants to go even in neutral or if my foot is on the brake. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAIN AND SHOULD HAVE LAST LONGER. I SEARCH THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT TIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA CIVIC FROM 2006 AND 2009 AND THERE WAS A TSB 10-048 FROM HONDA. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SECOND-HAND I DID NOT RECEIVE THE INFORMATION FROM HONDA ABOUT THE ENGINE DEFECT. THEY OFFERED A 10-YEAR WARRENTY BUT I HAVE EXCEED THIS BY 15 MONTHS.

MY CAR WILL NOT OPEN WHICH CAUSES A HUGE CONCERN BECAUSE IF I GO OUT, THEN I HAVE TO LEAVE A DOOR UNLOCKED BECAUSE IT'S NOT GUARANTEED THAT I CAN GET INTO MY CAR AGAIN AND PEOPLE COULD POTIENTIALLY THINK THAT I AM TRYING TO BREAK INTO MY OWN CAR. IT FINALLY WORKED AND I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT DYING COMPLETELY BUT NOW MY LOCKS WON'T UNLOCK UNLESS IT'S EARLY IN THE MORNING.

I SAY IT'S ELECTRICIAN PROBLEM

THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP, ONE OIL RING, AND A PLASTIC HOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED LAST YEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

ON 3/6/19 I WAS DRIVING HOME ON I-95 NORTH WHEN, WITHOUT WARNING, MY CIVIC REDLINED AND OVERHEATED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO ROCKINGHAM HONDA IN ROCKINGHAM, NH AND THE MECHANIC, DAN, DIAGNOSED MY CAR WITH A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT '06-'09 HONDAS HAD FAULTY ENGINES KNOWINGLY INSTALLED WHICH RESULTED IN HONDA OF AMERICA ISSUING A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 10 YEARS FOR THIS CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK ERROR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 8/14/15 COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE FAULTY ENGINE, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, OR THE COST IT WOULD BE TO ME. I CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA ON 3/7/19 TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE WARRANTY AND THE COMPLIMENTARY REPLACEMENT/REPAIRS FOR THEIR POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND DOES NOT APPLY TO ME SINCE I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR. TURNS OUT HONDA ONLY SENT OUT ONE NOTICE OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND IT WENT TO THE FIRST OWNERS OF THE HONDAS WHO PURCHASED THE CARS OFF A DEALERSHIP LOT. SECONDHAND OWNERS, LIKE ME, HAD NO CHANCE OF EVEN KNOWING THERE WAS A RECALL OR OPPORTUNITY TO GET THIS "TIME BOMB" OF A REPAIR FIXED UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE. AFTER A MONTH OF HAVING NO CAR AND COMMUNICATING WITH HONDA OF AMERICA AND THE MECHANIC, ROCKINGHAM HONDA QUOTED THE REPAIR TO COST $5,600 (WHICH IS TWICE THE AMOUNT OF WHAT KELLEY BLUE BOOK VALUES THE CAR TO BE WORTH). HONDA OF AMERICA SAID THAT SINCE I HAVE NO RECORD OF GETTING THE CAR SERVICED AT ANY OF THEIR LOCATIONS THAT IT'S "NOT THEY'RE PROBLEM" THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE OFFER. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT '06-'09 USED HONDAS, ARE DRIVING A WITH A FAULTY ENGINE, COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE DANGER AND DAMAGES THEY ARE ABOUT TO INCUR DUE TO HONDA'S INABILITY TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEIR PRODUCT.
On March 4th, 2019 I totaled my car during rush hour on I-44 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I hit the back of an F-150 pickup which resulted in totaling my car. My front bumper was pushed in and the hood of my car was bent in half. None of my airbags activated. My car was towed to Service King located in Moore, Oklahoma where the damage was assessed and reported to State Farm Auto the car was totaled. I didn't know where to report the airbags until I saw a story on our local news about NHTSA to investigate 30 million vehicles for defective air bag inflators. That is the purpose of this message. Several months before my accident, I took my car into Eskridge Honda in Oklahoma City due to an airbag recall. They checked and replaced the front passenger airbag saying the rest of the airbags were fine.
