BACK ON 3/30/13, I HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, AND MY TPS LIGHT WAS ON, AS IT TYPICALLY CAME ON FOR TIRE PRESSURE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT PREVIOUSLY, AS WE WOULD ALWAYS JUST ADD AIR AS NEEDED. HOWEVER, THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOWER THAN USUAL. SO WE HAVE BEEN MONITORING IT MORE CLOSELY. I LIVE IN NEW ENGLAND AND PUT 4 SNOW TIRES ON AROUND NOVEMBER AND REMOVE THEM AROUND APRIL. I PURCHASED THE 2009 HONDA CIVIC AS A LEFT OVER IN JAN 27, 2010. I PURCHASED 4 BLIZZAK SNOW TIRE IN 1/10, 2 TIRES IN 4/12, 2 MORE BLIZZAK SNOW TIRES IN 11/13, AS THEY WERE WORN, 2 MORE TIRES IN 4/14 AND WILL BE PURCHASING 2 MORE BLIZZAK SNOWS THIS WINTER. I ONLY HAVE 45,244 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. RECENTLY, I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE REQUIRING THE REAR TIRES TO BE PATCHED. ON 5/22/14, THE TPS LIGHT WAS ON, SO I WENT TO THE GARAGE ON MY WAY TO WORK TO GET SOME AIR. ON 5/23/14, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON SO I STOPPED AGAIN, THEY LOOKED AT THE TIRES AND FOUND I HAD A LEAK, REQUIRING A PATCH. IN AUGUST, THE SAME ISSUE. THE LIGHT CAME ON, FILLED WITH AIR, ONLY IT DIDN'T COME BACK ON UNTIL 5 DAYS LATER. STOPPED AT THE GARAGE CLOSER TO MY OFFICE AND I NEEDED 2 PATCHES IN BOTH REAR TIRES. ONE OF WHICH WAS PATCHED 6 MONTHS AGO. THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON AGAIN LAST WEEK AND WHILE I WAS FILLING UP WITH AIR (THE PSI WAS 27 IN BOTH REARS AS THEY SHOULD BE 32), THERE WAS ANOTHER HONDA CIVIC BEHIND ME WITH THE SAME ISSUE. NEEDING AIRS AND ALREADY HAD A PATCHED TIRE. THIS IS GETTING REALLY EXPENSIVE, AS WELL AS RIDICULOUS! MY FATHER HAS A HEART CONDITION AND I DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT FAULTY TIRES IF IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE IS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE THAT HAS BEEN CONSISTENT SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2013. THE NOISE HAPPENS WHEN CORNERING OR TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS.
PAINT JOB AND CLEAR COAT PEELING ON TRUNK, HOOD AND TOP OF CAR. *TR

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCE ONGOING LOWER BACK, HIP AND KNEE PAIN FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS. I HAVE DIFFICULTY WALKING AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THEY DID NOT INFLATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
FACTORY BRAKES ARE DEFECTIVE, WEARING OUT THE ROTOR WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR
ROAD NOISE BECOMING LOUDER AND LOUDER ALONG WITH VIBRATIONS BEING TRANSMITTED INTO THE CABIN. CHECKING THE REAR TIRES, THE INNER 1 1/2" OF TREAD IS MUCH MORE WORN AND UNEVENLY SO THAN THE BALANCE OF THE TREAD. SAME PROBLEM AS I HAD ON A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED IN JUNE 2012 WITH 23834 MILES. IN NOVEMBER 2012 AT 33035 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE LEFT FRONT ROTOR NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. I FIGURED THE BRAKES HAD NEVER BEEN REPLACED SINCE I EXPECT APPROXIMATELY 30000 MILES OF USAGE FROM FRONT BRAKES. IN JULY 2013 AT 46216 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AGAIN. TO MY FRUSTRATION THE DEALERSHIP SAID NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BRAKES ON A SMALL LIGHT CAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS PRIOR CARS THAT HAD BREAKS LAST LONGER THAN 13000 MILES. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON FORUMS AND EVEN A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND IF NECESSARY A RECALL ISSUED SINCE EARLY BRAKE FAILURE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR IN TOWN WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL IN MY VIEW. IT WOULD NOT STAY UP. IT SPLIT INTO TWO PIECES THAT WOULD NOT GO BACK TOGETHER. I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO GET 2 NEW REAR TIRES BECAUSE THE CAR KEEPS EATING UP THE REAR TIRES FOR SOME STRANGE REASON. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS VISOR AND A POSSIBLE RECALL AT THAT TIME IN NOVEMBER. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THEY COULDN'T REPAIR MY DEFECTIVE VISOR FOR FREE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY RIGHT FRONT SEAL WAS BAD, FRONT BRAKES WERE BAD, AND MY RIGHT REAR SHOCK WAS BAD AND THAT IT WOULD BE ABOUT 1000 TO FIX EVERYTHING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE ENGINE MOUNT WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED ON ANY RECALLS AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS. CLEAR COAT FINISH IS DEGRADING AND LEAVING BARE METAL SHOWING, *TR
SUN VISOR ON PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR HANGS DOWN. IT WILL NOT STAY UP IN THE UNUSED POSITION. THIS IS THE SECOND HONDA I HAVE HAD WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA OF AMERICA SAYS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY WILL NOT REPLACE OR REPAIR THE PART. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE VISOR BLOCKS VISIBILITY TO THE RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS PART? THANK YOU. *TR
PAINT ON HOOD IS FADING IN THREE SPOTS. CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED AND KEPT OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH CLEARCOAT. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING TO THE POSTED SPEED OF 55 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE SUDDENLY CHANGED LANE AND PULLED IN FRONT OF MY CAR. I HIT THE BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND THE BRAKES COULD NOT BE APPLIED. I HAD TO PUMP 2 OR 3 TIMES AND TRIED DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF FORCE. I BARELY ESCAPED ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM BECOMES MUCH WORSE IN COLD WEATHER AND ON SNOW AND ICE. I ENCOUNTERED STIFF BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEM AT LEAST 100 TIMES BETWEEN DECEMBER 2012 & MARCH 2013 ON RT 83 BETWEEN OAKBROOK AND WILLOWBROOK (SUBURBS OF CHICAGO, IL). THE TRAFFIC AT RUSH HOUR CAN BE STOP AND GO, AND BRAKES NEED TO BE APPLIED AT LEAST DOZENS OF TIME IN A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 7 MILES. I USED ALL OF MY SAFE DRIVING SKILLS, AND STARTED KEEPING MUCH GREATER DISTANCE FROM THE CARS AHEAD. IT WAS SCARY. THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. AT ABOUT 25,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS & HAVE ROTORS MACHINED AT A HONDA DEALER. THE NEXT DAY, IN JULY 2014, ON A CLEAR DAY AND DRY ROAD SURFACE, WITH THE NORMAL BRAKING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT STOP, BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE COMING WINTER. I HAVE NEVER BEEN INFORMED BY HONDA TO BRING IN MY CAR FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER BOUGHT THIS CAR IN CALIFORNIA IN JUNE 2009 (I WAS A CO-BORROWER). SHE DROVE ABOUT 12000 MILES IN 3 YEARS. MY DAUGHTER ALSO HAD ENCOUNTERED THIS STIFF BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEM, RIGHT FROM DAY ONE. IN JUNE 2012, THE CAR WAS SHIPPED BY TRUCK TO MY PLACE, AND I BECAME THE OWNER/DRIVER OF THE CAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON HWY AT ABUT 65 MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL ,I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL TO REDUCE SPEED TO EXIT, BUT THE BRAKE DIDN'T WORK AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DIDN'T DISENGAGE, COULDN'T EXIT AND KEPT ON GOING AND KEPT ON HITTING ON THE CRUISE BUTTON TILL IT FINALLY DISENGAGE AND WAS ABLE TO EXIT. THE CRUISE BUTTON STOPPED WORKING SINCE THEN. *TR
THE SUN VISORS ON THE CAR ARE BUILT POORLY AND THE PLASTIC WILL SPLIT, CAUSING THE SUN VISOR TO FAIL. AFTER FAILURE, THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT RETURN TO THE FOLDED POSITION, OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW AS IT STICKS OUT INTO THE CAR, REDUCING VISIBILITY. BOTH AMERICAN HONDA AS WELL AS LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIPS ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FLAW IN THE VEHICLES BUT THEY ARE CURRENTLY RESISTING MY ATTEMPTS TO HAVE MY CAR'S SUN VISORS REPLACED FOR FREE DUE TO DESIGN FLAW. THEY CLAIM THAT MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THE LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST AMERICAN HONDA LAST YEAR HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT DOES NOT COVER MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED AS IT IS REOCCURRING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. HONDA ACKNOWLEDGES THAT NOT ALL OWNERS WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS WIDESPREAD BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN PLACED BECAUSE THEY ARE OFTEN JUST FIXED ON A CASE BY CASE PROBLEM BUT EVEN REPLACEMENTS OFTEN FAIL AS NO CHANGE TO THE PRODUCT'S FAULTY DESIGN HAS BEEN MADE. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING A 2009 HONDA CIVIC (PURCHASED NEW ALL REPAIRS/SERVICING SINCE PURCHASE MADE BY THE DEALER AT READING PIAZZA HONDA) WITH MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 8:45 PM MAY-16-2012, NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME IN HER FRONT OR REAR VIEW WHEN SUDDENLY SHE REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY REVVED UP TO HIGH RPM'S, WHERE SHE STATES THAT SHE LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER THE 2009 HONDA CIVIC, SHE TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS SOON AS SHE REALIZED THE STEERING CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING,HOWEVER; THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK EITHER. HER VEHICLE CAREENED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD HITTING THE MEDIAN DIVIDER THEN THE CAR CAREENED TO THE RIGHT HITTING THE GUARD RAIL AT WHICH POINT THE SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THE MOTOR SHUT OFF. THANKFULLY THEY ARE BOTH ALIVE. MY DAUGHTER STATED THAT SHE FELT SOMEONE WAS PUSHING THE VEHICLE FROM BEHIND SUDDENLY. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TO THIS UNEXPLAINED SCENARIO MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER REPORTED TO ME, THE 2 LANE ROAD WAS DEVOID OF ANY VEHICLES AT THAT TIME AND AS SHE STATED THIS TO ME, THE ENGINE REVVED HIGH, SHE HAD NO ABILITY TO STEER AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK WHEN SHE APPLIED THEM. I BROUGHT A HONDA CIVIC 2009 IN 2012,APRIL 12. THE HONDA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SOLD WITH A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO BRING CAR UP TO DATE FOR 36000 MILES/3 YR. HONDA DID NOT OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THESE PURPOSES. THEY CALLED A YEAR LATER TO SEE IF WE WOULD THEN EXTEND THE VEHICLE TO 120 MILES. WE HAD ALREADY PURCHASED AN ADDITIONAL WARRANTY CALLED ASSURANCE PAY TO PAYLINK APPROX 112.00 MO. WE WERE ONE PAYMENT TO THE LAST AND HONDA FINALLY CALLED , WE PURCHASED THEIR WARRANTY TOO. THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN AUTOMATIC FROM THE SALE DATE. DOOR LOCKS AND IGNITION/CYLINDER WORK AND OTHER REPAIRS SUCH AS BREAK WORK HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON VEHICLE SINCE. I AM REPORTING UNFAIR SELLING PRACTICES. DETAILS AND REPAIR WORK WILL BE SUBMITTED UPON REQUEST. THUS VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUES UPON PURCHASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED FROM THE REAR AND WAS PUSHED FORWARD INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED FROM THE CRASH. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER SUFFERED NECK INJURIES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48,800. SM.
UNEVEN WEAR ON THE BRAKES TO THE POINT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR HAD VERY LOUD NOISE. STILL HAVE ORIGINAL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WITH PROPER TREAD; CAR MAINTENANCE MAINTAINED. PAID $165.00 FOR NEW BENDIX BRAKES (HIGH QUALITY) AND ROTOR REPAIR. ONCE NOISE STARTED, BRAKE PAD WENT QUICKLY!!! THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ONLY 12,000 MILES LATER (JULY 2013). LEFT OUTER BRAKE PAD AT 10% WHILE INNER PAD OF LEFT TIRE AT 85%. RIGHT TIRE, BOTH PADS AT 90%. STILL SAME ORIGINAL TIRES WITH A LOT OF TREAD, CAR MAINTENANCE MAINTAINED. VERY LITTLE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE CAR AT ALL FOR OTHER AREAS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND FELT A SEVERE VIBRATION ACCOMPANIED BY A WHINING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THIS CAR AT DAVID MCDAVID HONDA OF IRVING (TEXAS) IN 2012, I NOTICED THERE WAS PAINT OR CLEAR COAT PEELING ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. I DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY THINK MUCH OF IT, THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A ONE-OFF PROBLEM, AND ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAINT IT BEFORE I PICKED IT UP-- THEY DID. BEING A FULL-TIME STUDENT AND WORKING FULL TIME, I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT THE CLEAR COAT WAS STARTING TO PEEL FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR AND THEN FORWARD. WHEN I DID NOTICE THE CLEAR COAT I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT REPAINTED AND IT WAS NOT A PRIORITY. WHEN IT GOT EVEN WORSE, I STARTED DOING MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A PAINT REAL FOR HONDAS FOR SEVERAL MODELS ACROSS A RANGE OF YEARS. MINE FELL INTO THAT RANGE. I WENT TO DAVID MCDAVID TO ASK THEM TO REPAINT IT AND HONOR THE WARRANTY, BUT THEY REFUSED SINCE I WAS 3 MONTHS OUT OF THE WARRANTY! WHAT SUCKS IS THAT I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN THE MAIL LETTING ME KNOW THERE WAS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THAT. AND EVEN WORSE, THE DEALERSHIP KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND REFUSED TO HELP. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET THE PAINT JOB WAS THROUGH MY DEALERSHIP. SO NOW I AM STUCK AND MY CAR LOOKS LIKE CRAP. I WAS CURRENTLY IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC 2 DOOR COUPE. THE ACCIDENT ACCRUED DUE TO WET ROAD CONDITIONS, WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND 360 ON A HIGHWAY AND SLAM INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND ROLL OVER 4 TIMES. AS I WAS INJURED THANK GOD IT WAS NOT LIFE THREATENING, AS IT COULD OF BEEN. I WAS SURPRISED AFTER THE ACCIDENT THAT NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE SENSORS ON THE CARS BUT EVERY ANGLE OF THE CAR HAD SOME TYPE OF IMPACT, SO, WHY ONLY TWO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND BACK WINDOW WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR AND OF COURSE I WAS THE DRIVER IN THE DRIVER SEAT. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WAITING FOR THE GREEN LIGHT TO TURN TO THE LEFT. WHEN THE GREEN LIGHT APPEARED, I ACCELERATED AT A SPEED OF 15 WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE I HEARD A BOOM SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I HONESTLY DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR TO ME THAT I BOUGHT A 2009 CAR FOR IT TO HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN WAUKESHA WIS. ON 11-28-2008. ONE YR. AFTER PURCHASE WE NOTICED THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE, WHEN BACKING UP, BRAKING. THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE DRIVER WOULD NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH GREATER FORCE, AND THEN SHIFT AUTO. TRANS INTO NEUTRAL. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER 3 SEPARATE TIMES, AND THEY INDICATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. ON ONE OCCASION PER THEIR SUGGESTION WE PURCHASED THE RUBBER ALL WEATHER HONDA FLOOR MATS AT A COST OF $110.00. I DOUBTED THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IN NOVEMBER 2011 THE SAME PROBLEM WAS EXPERIENCED A FOURTH TIME IN A PARKING LOT. WHILE WAITING IN A PARKING LOT THE ENGINE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY, AND MORE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP OF THE CONTINUING PROBLEM. ON 11-29-2011 WE LEFT THE CIVIC AT THE DEALER, AND WAYNE NICKLAS THE (AHM) WOULD ALSO EXAMINE THE CAR WITH A MECHANIC. THE MILEAGE WAS 26,526. MR. NICKLAS MET WITH US. HE EXPLAINED HOW THEY CHECKED THE TIRE DEPTH, PRESSURE, AND THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE CAR. I THEN ASKED FOR SPECIFICS ABOUT THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION, AND HE INDICATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO MR. NICKLAS, THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL ENGINE CODE, AND IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR LONG ENOUGH FOR THE COMPUTER TO RECORD IT. HE DENIED OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS REPORTED WITH CIVICS. WE FOUND SIMILAR CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FILED ON WEB SITES WITH CIVICS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS. IT WAS SUGGESTED WE TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. WE FELT UNSAFE IN CONTINUING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE HONDA DEALER LEFT US HANGING, AND OFFERED US NO FURTHER HELP WITH TRADING IN THE VEHICLE. WE INCURRED A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS WHEN WE TRADED IN THE CIVIC AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. RESEARCH FOUND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE BY ANY MEANS. *TR
I NOTICED A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE SO I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE SEVERELY CUPPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ALSO RECOMMENDED A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS STILL COVERED UNDER ITS 3 YEAR 36000 MILE WARRANTY, I HAD TO PAY $366 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE REAR TIRES REPLACED AND THE ALIGNMENT DONE. WHEN I VIEWED THE ALIGNMENT REPORT ALL ADJUSTMENTS WERE WITHIN SPECIFIED RANGE PRIOR TO ANY ADJUSTMENT BEING MADE. I BELIEVE THERE IS EITHER A PROBLEM WITH THE GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A TIRES THAT WERE PUT ON THIS CAR AT THE FACTORY OR THERE IS SOME OTHER UNDERLYING REAR SUSPENSION ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. *TR
IN 2011, MY DRIVER SIDE VISOR CRACKED/SPLIT AND WAS HANGING HALFWAY, AFFECTING MY VIEW. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED AT NO CHARGE OCTOBER 24 2011. NOT EVEN A WEEK AGO, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE NEW DRIVER SIDE VISOR. I CALLED HONDA, TOOK IT TO THEM TODAY (08/15/2013). THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 95 DOLLARS!!!! REALLY?!!! THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THESE VISORS. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND PLENTY OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. I CALLED THE HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. THE VISOR I GOT REPLACE ONLY HAD A 12,000 MILE OR ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. THESE VISORS ARE OBVIOUSLY MADE WITH CHEAP PLASTIC THAT IS NOT MADE TO LAST. SO I HAVE TO SPEND ALMOST 100 DOLLARS EVERY YEAR AND A HALF IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHILE I AM DRIVING? THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND THEY SHOULD REPLACE ALL VISORS AT THEIR COST. MAYBE IT MIGHT FORCE THEM TO PROVIDE VISORS THAT ARE SAFE AND WILL LAST. MY VEHICLE WAS AT MY MECHANICS FOR AN OIL CHANGE. PART OF THEIR SERVICE IS TO CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE. A TIRE WAS A LITTLE LOW. UPON PLACING THE AIR CHUCK ON THE VALVE STEM, THE VALVE STEM EXPLODED. POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND THE PERSON WHO WOULD BE ADDING AIR WAS LUCKILY AVOIDED. HONDA HAD IN JULY 09 (SAME MONTH WE PURCHASED THIS CAR) ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING USING ONLY A SHALLOW AIR CHUCK ON CIVICS AS THEY MIGHT EXPLODE. HONDA AND THE DEALERSHIP BOTH REFUSED TO REPAIR AT NO CHARGE. CLAIMING THAT THE MECHANIC WAS AT FAULT. NOTE THAT THE MECHANIC WHO WAS OPERATING THE PROPER AIR CHUCK AT MY REPAIR SHOP IS HONDA CERTIFIED AND ONLY USED A SHALLOW AIR CHUCK. HONDA HAS A PRINTED BROCHURE IN THEIR SHOW ROOM THAT EXPLICTLY STATES THAT A DRIVER MUST GO TO A DEALERSHIP OR ANYWHERE THAT AIR IS AVAILABLE AND FILL TO THE PROPER PRESSURE WHEN THE TPMS LIGHT COMES ON. MOST AIR FILL PLACES AT GAS STATIONS HAVE THE LONG HANDLE VERSION OF THE AIR CHUCK, WHICH IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED! NOT ONLY DID HONDA REFUSE TO REPAIR AT NO CHARGE, THEY ALSO CHARGED US FOR A FRONT END ANALYSIS. $175.00 BECAUSE OF A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE OR TO GO ABOVE 50 MPH AFTER THAT BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL OF A ROCK OR SOME OTHER OBJECT HITTING THE VALVE STEM. WE HAD MANY TRIPS WHERE WE HAD TO USE MY 1990 JEEP INSTEAD OF THE HONDA AT EXTRA EXPENSE. WE RECENTLY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO GET RID OF THE HONDA AND PURCHASED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA LIMITED. I WAS CHARGED $100 FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES THAT DID NOT FIND ANY OTHER FAULT BESIDES A 'LEAKING FILTER'. THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY ASKED ME TO BRING THE CAR IN, CHANGE THE FILTER, AND CONTINUE THIS CYCLE UNTIL IT DOESN'T LEAK ANYMORE. THE FIRST INCIDENCE TOOK 4 VISITS. I JUST HAD ANOTHER SCHEDULED SERVICE AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, AND THE CAR IS LEAKING OIL HEAVILY IN MY DRIVEWAY AGAIN. MY CAR WAS NOT LEAKING OIL WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE. THE OIL IS COVERING MY SUSPENSION AND VARIOUS UNDERBODY COMPONENTS. *TR
ON 8/15/11, VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A HONDA CHICAGO FOR LOF & ROTATE. DROPPED OFF, CAME BACK, DROVE VEHICLE FOUND LOUD ROARING NOISE. TIRES WERE ROTATED THEN DISCOVERED THE TIRE THAT CAME OFF R/R WAS CUPPED. VEHICLE HAS 15K MILES, BARELY DRIVEN BY MY MOM THAT'S IN HER 60S, DOESN'T TRAVEL THE EXPRESSWAYS. HONDA CHICAGO WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING SO I MADE A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA CARE; WAS TOLD BRING IT BACK TO HONDA. HONDA CHICAGO SAID, "SIR, NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION AND MAY POSSIBLY NEED AN ALIGNMENT." I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR THERE WAS NO COMPLAINT OF PULLING/DRIFTING. DEALER AND HONDA CARE ARE USELESS, NOTHING WAS DONE SO I PAID FOR A NEW TIRE SOMEWHERE ELSE. LAST WEEK, VEHICLE BACK AT HONDA ELMHURST AND THEN TO HONDA DES PLAINES FOR A 2ND OPINION FOR SAMETHING. BOTH DEALERS STATED NOTHING WRONG BUT THE FRONT TIRES CURRENTLY HAVE 3/32S, L/R 2/32S AND R/R 6/32S. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T EVEN OFFER TIRES TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 18K MILES ON IT, A TICKING NOISE THAT COMES FOR THE VEHICLE WHEN IT'S IDLING IN REVERSE AND THE MYSTERIOUS R/R TIRE CONCERN. I CONTACTED HONDA CARE TODAY SPOKE WITH A CLAIM REP AND REQUESTED TO HAVE A HONDA REGIONAL REP OR SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE DEALERSHIP'S MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE SINCE IT'S BEEN TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS. I ALSO REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE R/R TIRE THAT WAS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD, "WE'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING AT THIS TIME AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN ELMHURST, IL AND TO HAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER GET INVOLVED." THE CLAIM REP ALSO STATED THAT HE SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THAT SAME DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM THAT, WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE CAR, AMERICAN HONDA AGREED TO PAY FOR TWO OF THE TIRES AND THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO PAY FOR ONE, AFTER WE CALLED COMPLAINING OF THE PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS HOWEVER, AS THERE IS NO BETTER VERSION TO REPLACE THEM WITH. BECAUSE OF THAT, THE PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED. THE NEW TIRES WILL ALSO WEAR UNEVENLY. UNLESS WE WERE TO PUT NEW TIRES ON EVERY SINGLE YEAR, IF NOT SOONER, WE WILL BE DRIVING ON DANGEROUS TIRES. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE WARRANTY IS UP? WILL DRIVERS PAY FOR FOUR NEW TIRES PER YEAR, OR BE UNSAFE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR HONDA'S DEFECT? THE SAD THING IS WE DIDN'T LEARN THE FIRST TIME. WE OWNED A 2007 CIVIC WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA CHANGED THE CONTROL ARMS AND PAID FOR TWO OF THE TIRES AFTER 20,000 MILES, THEN WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AT 35,000 MILES, WE TRADED THE CAR IN FOR THE 2009 MODEL, HOPING THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN SOLVED IN THE NEWER MODEL. I OWN A 2009 HONDA CIVIC LX-S. IT NOW HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT AND THE REAR TIRES ARE COMPLETELY BALD. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA CIVIC'S. HONDA HAS A TSB ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TSB SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR CONTROL ARMS AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSES THE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE TIRES. I CONTACTED A COUPLE OF DEALERS ABOUT GETTING MY CAR FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND AND DON'T WANT TO DO WHAT THE TSB SAYS THEY NEED TO DO. IF THERE ARE THIS MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR THEN THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE A TIRE BLOWS AND CAUSES A WRECK AND SOMEONE GETS HURT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO PARK AND IT MOVED FORWARD AND ALMOST STALLED. I HAD STEP ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP FROM MOVING FORWARD ANYMORE. OWNER STARTED NOTICING UNEVEN (CUPPING) OF BOTH REAR TIRE APROX 10K AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE (VEHICLE MILEAGE APROX 38000. KEPT DRIVING VEHICLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL 5K MILES, NOTICED 2 REAR TIRES WERE BALDING. TOOK VEHICLE TO AUTO SHOP, WAS INFORMED STRUTS AND SHOCKS WERE IN GOOD CONDITION. ALIGNMENT NOT THE PROBLEM EITHER. HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS APPLIED SOFTWARE UPDATES TO MY VEHICLE TO ADDRESS THIS TWICE, BUT THOSE SIMPLY TRADE MILEAGE FOR BATTERY LIFE, DEGRADING THE VALUE OF A HYBRID. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE PARK AND DRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PARK LIGHT WAS STEADY, WHILE THE DRIVE LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF. THE CONSUMER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY DETERMINED A RODENT HAD DAMAGED A CABLE. ALSO, THE TRUNK FAILED TO OPEN ON COMMAND, THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DETAILED WHICH CAUSED THE PROTECTIVE GASKET TO LOSE ITS PROTECTIVE LUBRICANT.
