I HAVE A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. HEARD HORRIBLE NOISE COMING FROM TIRES. HAD THEM ROTATED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX PROBLEM. IT JUST GOT LOUDER SO I TOOK IT INTO FOR DIAGNOSTICS. WAS ADVISED I HAD CUPPED TIRES AND NEEDED 4 NEW TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT. I REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND HAD ALIGNMENT DONE. ON THE ALIGNMENT REPORT WAS ADVISED THAT THE RIGHT REAR CAMBER AND RIGHT FRONT CAMBER WERE OUT OF SPECS, AS WELL AS THE REAR LEFT CAMBER IS JUST IN SPEC. PHONED HONDA TOLD THEM OF ISSUE, WAS ADVISED THEY DO NOT REPAIR SUCH A THING AND THAT DRIVING ON CUPPED TIRES IS FINE. I CALLED HONDA , SPOKE TO WAS ADVISED IT WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE AND THAT WOULD DO A TOE AT MY EXPENSE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED HOW MUCH OF AN ISSUE THIS IS, IN FACT A CLASS ACTION SUIT HAS BEEN FILED IN THE STATES. I WAS ALSO ADVISED BY THAT THE CUPPING RESULTED FROM THE ROADS IN WHICH I LIVE, WHICH I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE AS I LIVE 5 MINUTES FROM THEPLANT IN . I WAS ADVISED BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE NEW TIRES WILL ALSO CUP UNLESS THIS ISSUE IS DEALT WITH. HONDA CLAIMS TO BE ABOUT SAFETY YET AFTER RESEARCH I HAVE LEARNED THAT DRIVING ON CUPPED TIRES IS DANGEROUS AS THE TIRES LOSE GRIP. PLEASE HELP ME I CAN'T AFFORD NEW TIRES EVERY YEAR OR A $1,000.00 REPAIR BILL ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. BRAKE BOOSTER, BOOSTER HOSE/CHECK VALVE FAILURES. NINETEEN OCCURRENCES OF HARD BRAKE PEDAL AND LOW PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON 2009 HONDA CIVIC 4 DOOR SEDAN. THE 1ST HONDA 2009 CIVIC SEDAN HAD THE SAME BRAKE ISSUES AS THE 2ND ONE THAT I OWN NOW. I HAD AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 7, 2011, THE CAR DID NOT BRAKE NORMALLY. MY PROBLEMS WITH THE CURRENT CAR STARTED ON MAY 19, 2010. I PURCHASED THE CAR ON APRIL 27, 2010. I CONTINUALLY HAVE A HARD BRAKE PEDAL ON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES ON THE FIRST 3 OR 4 APPLICATIONS OF THE BRAKES AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. THE DEALER CONTINUALLY CLAIMS THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON TEST DRIVES. AN INDEPENDENT HONDA GARAGE INSPECTED THE BRAKES 1 WEEK AGO AND DID THE HONDA BOOSTER BRAKE TEST PROCEDURE, THEY FOUND THAT THE BOOSTER HOSE/CHECK VALVE ASSY FAILED THE TEST. IT TOOK THEM 45 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE INSPECTION WITH THE TEST. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE SAME AFTERNOON AND THEY ONLY SPENT 19 MINUTES ON THE CLOCK, HAVING THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS. THE DEALER STILL CLAIMED THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AGAIN. I DROVE THE CAR THE 2 BLOCKS TOO MY TRUCK AND THE APPLICATIONS OF THE BRAKES WERE ALL HARD PEDAL, REQUIRING HARDER PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL TO STOP THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR DID THE SAME THING COMING DOWN THE HILL TO THE FREEWAY. THE BRAKES SEEM TO RECOVER AFTER THE 4TH APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES. I HAVE CONTINUALLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT. THEY REPLACED THE BOOSTER HOSE/CHECK VALVE ON THE 1ST CAR AND THEN JUST AS I WAS REACHING THE END OF THE WARRANTY, THEY REPLACED THE BOOSTER ON THE CAR. BY THAT TIME I WAS DONE WITH THE CAR AND TRADED IT IN ON ANOTHER ONE, SAME MODEL, SAME YEAR. I FIGURED IT COULDN'T HAPPEN WITH ANOTHER ONE. SAME THING HAPPENED 3 WEEKS LATER ON THIS ONE AND SO FAR 19 INSTANCES HAVE BEEN LOGGED WITH DATES, TIME AND LOCATIONS. THIS INFO IS IN THE POLICE REPORT AND A CERTIFIED LETTER OF COMPLAINT SENT TO THE DEALER. *TR
MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE, CAUSING IT TO FALL DOWN IN MY LINE OF VISION. IT WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON HAPPENING IN THE HONDA CIVIC AND AT THIS POINT, NEEDS TO BE FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL WITH A RECALL AND REAL FIX, OTHER THAN SIMPLY REPLACEMENT WITH ANOTHER VISOR THAT IS ALSO GOING TO BREAK! IT ALSO APPEARS FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE THAT THE PROBLEM IS CHEAP PLASTIC AND HEAT. YES, CARS GET HOT IN THE SUMMER, PARTICULARLY IF YOU LOCK THEM UP AS YOU SHOULD! HONDA CLAIMS IT'S NOT A "HAZARD" BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU IT IS!! I WAS LUCKY B/C MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT NO DOUBT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN (AND IT WILL) IT WON'T STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FAILED AFTER 18 MOS AND I HAVE SIGNIFICANT DIFFICULTY ROTATING TO KEEP SUN OUT OF MY EYES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON FAULT RECORDED BY OTHER HONDA CIVIC OWNERS. *TR
2009 HONDA CIVIC. AIR CONDITIONER STARTED TO BLOW OUT WARM AIR. THIS WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I LIVE IN THE UPPER MIDWEST AND THE ISSUE OCCURRED SOON AFTER THE WEATHER WARMED UP. I TOOK IT TO BOYLAND HONDA IN MILWAUKEE, WI WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND THE AIR WORKED FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER. ONE YEAR LATER I HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ONCE AGAIN BLOWING OUT WARM AIR. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO HONDA OF KENOSHA. I DON'T TRUST THAT BOYLAND ACTUALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM SO WOULD LIKE TO TRY ANOTHER DEALER. I ONLY HAVE 12,999 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. MY WIFE HAS A CR-V (OUR 2ND) AND I HAVE THE CIVIC (ALSO OUR 2ND) I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GOOD LUCK, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE LIKE THESE. *TR
PREMATURE WEAR OF REAR TIRES. ROTATED TIES AFTER 20K MILES AND NOTED SIGNIFICANT ROAD NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES NOW MOUNTED IN THE FRONT. DEALER INDICATED THE CAUSE WAS IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR CAUSED 'CUPPING' OF THE TIRES WHEN THEY WERE MOUNTED IN THE BACK. I EXPERIENCED EVEN WORSE TIRE WEAR WITH MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC. HONDA ISSUED A TSB TO REPAIR THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS IN THAT MODEL. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT HONDA ENGINEERS WOULD HAVE RECTIFIED THIS PROBLEM IN NEWER MODELS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. BROKEN BELT WITH ONLY 20K MILES MAKES THE TIRE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BLOW-OUT AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DEALER SAYS BRIDGESTONE ATTRIBUTES IT TO DRIVER STRIKING A HARD OBJECT. SO SAD, THIS IS THE FIRST BROKEN BELT I'VE HAD IN MY 40 YEARS OF DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT APPLIED BOTH THE FOOT AND EMERGENCY BRAKES, AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FRONT END. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL SHOULD THE FAILURE RECUR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800. MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC LX IS HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA CIVIC IN JULY 2009 - MANUFACTURED 11/2008. ROTATED TIRES EVERY 5K MI. AT 25K MI - JUNE 2010, INFORMED THAT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH 40K MI RATED TIRES, ALIGNMENT PERFORMED AND IN DEC 2010 AND REAR TIRE WERE BALD - 15K MI TOT, 10 K ON REAR AND 5 K ON FRONT. REPLACE THESE - ALL 4 - WITH 60 K MI RATED TIRES AND AFTER 5 K MI REAR TIRE WERE SEVERELY CUPPED. REPLACED REAR TIRES WITH THE CURRENT FRONT TIRES AND 2 NEW TIRES FOR THE FRONT, ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. RAN THIS SET FOR ANOTHER 5K MI AND AGAIN THE REAR TIRES WERE SEVERELY CUPPED - 10 K TOTAL 5K ON FRONT AND 5 K ON REAR. IF THERE IS ANY PRECIPITATION ON THE ROADWAY WHAT SO EVER, THE REAR END TENDS TO LOSE TRACTION. THE MECHANIC (NON-DEALER) ASKED IF I CARRY ALOT OF WEIGHT AROUND IN THE TRUNK AND I SAID "NO, 90% OF THE TIME I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR". HE DID SAY THAT HE HAD SEEN OTHER MAKES OF CAR THAT WOULD "CHEW-UP" TIRES QUICKLY. I WENT HOME AND DID A SEARCH ON THE WEB FOR "EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR HONDA CIVIC" AND CAME UP WITH A BUNCH HITS THAT SAID THERE WAS A TSB FOR A CONTROL ARM. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ASKED IF THEY HAVE EVER HEARD ANYONE ELSE COMPLAIN OF EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON A CIVIC AND THEY SAID "NO". SO I TOLD THEM THAT I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR CONTROL ARMS ON THE WEB AND THEY STARTED RESEARCHING 2009 CIVIC TSBS AND SAID THAT THERE WERE NONE. I SAID THAT IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THERE ARE TSBS FOR 2007 AND 2008 MODELS BUT NOTHING FOR 2009 MODELS. DEALER SAID SINCE THERE IS NO TSB FOR THE 2009 AND SINCE THERE ARE 50K MI ON THE CAR THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED - THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY DID OFFER TO DO AN ALIGNMENT FOR $75, I SAID "NO THANKS I'LL RESOLVE THIS BY ANOTHER MEANS" AND LEFT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER BUT ONLY WARM AIR WOULD BLOW THROUGH THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE CONDENSER UNDER THE VEHICLE WAS DENTED AND PUNCTURED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE HOSES WERE DISCONNECTED AND LEAKING FLUIDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. 2009 HONDA CIVIC 22,472 MILES MOSTLY FREEWAY MILES. GRINDING NOISE FROM FRONT BRAKES, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, THEY SAID I NEEDED NEW PADS AND TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED. INBOARD PAD (PISTON SIDE OF CALIPER) WAS WORN TO WEAR INDICATOR, OUTBOARD PAD STILL WITH APPROX. 90% PAD LIFE LEFT ALTHOUGH THERE IS A GROOVE IN THE ROTOR. TOLD DEALER THAT THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE WEAR AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT BUT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. A QUICK SEARCH OF COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE AFFIRMS THAT THIS IS INDEED A COMMON COMPLAINT AND INDICATIVE OF A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW ON HONDA'S PART. *TR
2009 HONDA CIVIC GX HAS AN INTERMITTENT COLD START / HARD START / NO START PROBLEM. IT CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 30 SECONDS TO EIGHT MINUTES TO GET THE CAR TO STARTED. ON A FEW OCCASIONS I GAVE UP TRYING TO START THE CAR AND DROVE MY TRUCK INSTEAD. ORIGINALLY THE PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING ABOUT ONCE A WEEK TO ONCE A MONTH. I HAVE HAD THE CAR DIE WHILE DRIVING AND WOULDN'T RESTART. SINCE JAN 25TH 2012 MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE HONDA DEALER FOR A TOTAL OF NEARLY 12 WEEKS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS HAD MY CAR FOR THE LAST 9 WEEKS STRAIGHT AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE STARTING PROBLEMS. CURRENTLY IT WILL NOT START ABOUT 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME. WHILE MY CAR IS FUELED BY CNG (COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS) I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS 2008, 2009, 2010 AND 2011 HONDA'S WITH HARD START / COLD START COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEMS MY CAR. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE CARS AND MINE IS MINE IS FUELED BY CNG WHILE THE REST OF THE HONDA CIVICS ARE ALL GASOLINE POWERED. THE TEMPERATURE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO START THE CAR WAS 44 DEGREES THOUGH THE OVERNIGHT LOW WAS ABOUT 35 DEGREES. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH THE ABS LOCKED UPON ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WAS ALSO THE ILLUMINATION OF THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR.THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I PURCHASED A 2009 CIVIC IN AUGUST OF 2009. MY CAR IS NOW IN THE SHOP WITH LESS THAN 24K MILES ON THE CAR IN NEED OF NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUES IT SEEMS THAT MANY '08 AND '09 HONDA OWNERS, ESPECIALLY CIVIC OWNERS, ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL AS A DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE QUALITY OF MANUFACTURING. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS "A NORMAL PROBLEM" AND NOT MUCH CONCERN WAS GIVEN OVER THE SAFETY OF BAD BRAKES AT SUCH AN EARLY AGE OF A CAR. *TR
AFTER PUTTING 19,111 HIGHWAY MILEAGE ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC DX, I WAS TOLD BY MY HONDA DEALER THAT I NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKES. I DID AS I WAS TOLD, AND PURCHASED MY BRAKES FOR $226.39. THIS REPAIR WAS DONE IN AUGUST OF 2010. 8 MONTHS LATER AT 34,189 MILES, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKES AGAIN. I WAS FURIOUS AND UPSET, BECAUSE I RECENTLY GOT MY BRAKES REPLACED. I MADE A COMPLAIN TO THE STORE MANAGER, AND HE WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I ENDED UP PAYING ANOTHER $229 TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKES. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT MY FRONT ROTORS WERE WORN OUT AS A RESULT OF MY BAD BRAKE PADS. I DID SOME RESEARCH TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR FRONT HONDA CIVIC BRAKES, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH 2009 - 2011 HONDA CIVICS. I AM AFRAID OF THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLES, AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, THAT HONDA IS NOT WILLING TO RECTIFY. *TR
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP OR ROUGH PATCH ON THE ROAD, THE BRAKES FAIL ALMOST ENTIRELY. AS A REACTIONARY MEASURE, I USUALLY RELEASE AND RE-APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEN IT WORKS BUT THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE I APPLY THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I CAN WITHOUT LETTING UP BECAUSE I'M ABOUT TO READ END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. IN TOTAL SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR BRAND NEW, I'D SAY THIS HAPPEND OVER 30 TIMES SINCE SEPTEMBER 2009. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED AND WAS CAUSING BOTH REAR TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THERE WERE SEVERAL BUMPS FOUND IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS OF THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE TIRES WOULD NEED ROTATING EVERY TWO TO THREE THOUSANDS MILES. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE TO REPAIR THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,500. FRONT RIGHT MOTOR MOUNT IS BROKE, WAS VIBRATION WHEN YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE. NOW IT HAS A VIBRATION ALL THE TIME.
I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE OF MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC WHEN THE CAR'S ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED TO 4000RPM. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT 4000RPM. THE ENTIRE INCIDENT LASTED ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL IDLING SPEED AND I CONTINUED ON MY WAY. THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS ABOUT 11,000 MILES, IS CURRENTLY AT A HONDA DEALER FOR EVALUATION. *TR
THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF MY HONDA CIVIC IS PEELING OFF. THIS FIRST HAPPENED FAIRLY EARLY ON AFTER I PURCHASED BY VEHICLE. A RUBBING, GRINDING, METAL ON METAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT BRAKES AFTER A LITTLE OVER 19, 916 MILES. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP PERFORM AN INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE PADS HAVE WORN DOWN TO THE POINT WHERE METAL-TO-METAL CONTACT IS OCCURRING, MY VEHICLE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP SAFELY, AND DAMAGE MAY OCCUR WHERE THE BRAKE ROTORS OR DRUMS NEED TO BE REPLACED.
I OWN A 2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE HYBRID SYSTEM RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING (LEAVING ONLY THE UNDERPOWERED GASOLINE ENGINE AS THE MEANS TO POWER THE CAR). THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE ISSUE IN DECEMBER. THEY PERFORMED AN IRREVERSIBLE SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH HAS, AS A RESULT, MADE THE HYBRID SYSTEM WORK ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER STATES THERE IS NO WAY TO REVERSE THIS CHANGE. AS A RESULT, THE HYBRID BATTERY/MOTOR ASSIST WILL SUDDENLY STOP WORKING DURING AN ACCELERATION (FOR INSTANCE MERGING ON THE FREEWAY) WITH A DRAMATIC LOSS OF POWER. STEPPING MORE ON THE ACCELERATOR INCREASES RPMS TO 4-5,000 BUT DOES NOT RESULT IN ANY SIGNIFICANT POWER TO THE CAR. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER, THEY STATE THEY HAVE HAD MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BUT DO NOT HAVE A FIX. I FEEL THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN GIVEN THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF WHEN THE POWER LOSS OCCURS, AND USUALLY OCCURS WHEN A DRIVER MOST NEEDS POWER. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN 1 YEAR I NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY BEGAN TO SUDDENLY DROP IT'S STATE OF CHARGE (SOC) DURING THE FIRST FEW MILES OF DRIVING AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. ON SUSTAINED TRIPS THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY DROP ITS CHARGE ABOUT EVERY 20 MINUTES. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES IT'S STATE OF CHARGE (SOC) THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF ACCELERATION. IF THE SUDDEN LOSS OF SOC OCCURS AT A TIME WHEN YOU ARE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, YOU FIND YOURSELF BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITH THE SOC READING 75% OR HIGHER, ONLY TO FIND THAT "AT THAT EXACT MOMENT", THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO DUMP ITS CHARGE. ON SEVERAL OF THOSE OCCASIONS I WAS NEARLY RUN INTO BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HONDA REPLACED THE BATTERY IN MARCH 2010 AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY, BUT AFTER 6 MONTHS WITH THE NEW BATTERY, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. HONDA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE SECOND BATTERY, INSISTING THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING NORMALLY. *TR
I OWN A 2009 HONDA CIVIC 4-DR SEDAN THAT HAS A PROBLEM WITH ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATING ON THE WHEEL IN AS LITTLE AS A 2 INCH SNOWFALL CONDITION. THIS ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATION CAUSES THE FRONT WHEELS TO BE OUT-OF-BALANCE AND RESULT IN VIBRATIONS THAT MAKE THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE IN SPEEDS GREATER THAT 50 MPH. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS 20,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE NOW USED IT DURING TWO WINTERS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD TO PULL THE WHEELS OFF TO REMOVE THE ACCUMULATED SNOW AND ICE FROM THE INNER WALLS OF THE WHEEL IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT SAFELY AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFELY ISSUE WITH THE WHEEL DESIGN FOR THIS VEHICLE. IT ONLY APPEARS TO AFFECT THE FRONT WHEEL LOCATIONS, NOT THE REAR WHEELS. *TR

THE INSIDE PISTON ON THE DRIVER CALIPER IS NOT RECOVERING AFTER BRAKE IS APPLIED THEREFORE CAUSING PAD TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THE TURN, THE CAR WAS PLACED BACK INTO DRIVE FROM NEUTRAL AND IT BEGAN TO DRIVE ITSELF. AS THE CAR ACCELERATED FASTER AND FASTER THE DRIVER TRIED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES MANY TIMES WITHOUT THE PEDAL EVEN BUDGING OR THE CAR SLOWING DOWN IN THE SLIGHTEST WAY. WHEN WE TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT LOCKED UP IN A STRAIGHT AWAY POSITION, CAUSING THE CAR TO HIT AT LEAST TWO LARGE CURBED MEDIANS AND GO AIRBORNE EACH TIME. DRIVER AND I BRACED OURSELVES AS THE BUILDING CAME CLOSER. WE THEN HIT THE THIRD AND FINAL CURB, THE CAR WENT AIRBORNE AGAIN SLAMMING INTO THE BUILDING AT ABOUT SIX FEET HIGH ON THE WALL. ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, THE PASSENGER WINDOW SHATTERED AND WINDSHIELD CRACKED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRASH I PROCEEDED TO PLACE THE CAR INTO PARK WHEN THE SHIFTER ITSELF CAME OUT. THE CAR WAS STILL TRYING TO DRIVE ITSELF THROUGH THE BUILDING WHEN WE CRASHED. THE CIVIC WAS CONSIDERED TOTALED AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS FURTHER INVESTIGATING WHY THIS HAPPENED. *TR

THE VEHICLE AS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

THIS HAPPENS ABOUT TWICE A WEEK AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE I SOMETIMES GET INTO STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. THIS MEANS THAT I COULD BE BRAKING AND THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE, POSSIBLY HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF MINE. *TR
