Went over railroad tracks just like any other car and the airbag blew for no reason. The front of the car was not hit.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side air bag inadvertently deployed, shattering the windshield. No injury was sustained. There was no impact to the vehicle that could have caused the passenger's side air bag to deploy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.
The center console under the radio is not equipped to hold anything like a phone or something of similar size. When accelerating, the phone or item will become unsecured and fall. In this particular incident, it caused my phone to slide backwards and undo my seatbelt while driving. A car was about to rear end me as this was happening. This is not the first time this has happened. This could be incredibly dangerous and cause a restrained driver to suddenly become unrestrained and before an accident. The center console is not large enough or secure enough to hold a phone or similar item. This is also where they would place a wireless charging pad so it is intended for your phone to sit in the center console under the radio.

I was stopped at a left turn in section, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass, when an Honda CR-V rear ended me, causing me to hit my head on the steering wheel. The CR-V’s airbags did deploy, but mine did not(have photos and videos of crash).

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IMMEDIATELY FROM 60 MPH, BUT COULD NOT STOP IN TIME. A COLLISION OCCURRED WITH THE STOPPED CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE CAR WAS EXTREMELY DAMAGED, TO THE POINT OF NOT STARTING, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
AIRBAG SYSTEM (SRS) PROBLEM INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AT 101,597 MILES. GOT INTO CAR AND STARTED IT, THEN LIGHT CAME ON.
SINCE PURCHASING MY 2016 CIVIC NEW, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE FRONT LOWER UNDER-END OF THE CAR BEING TOO LOW. IT CONSTANTLY SCRAPES WHEN I GO OVER SPEED BUMPS OR SMALL CURBS. ON 7/27/20, I WAS PARKING AT A RESTAURANT AND SLIGHT DROVE UP ON A SMALL CURB, I STOPPED AND BACKED UP AND PARKED. ABOUT 15 SECONDS LATER AS I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT MY CAR, SUDDENTLY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED HITTING ME IN THE FACE, SHOULDER AND CHEST. I WAS DAZED, FORTUNATELY, TWO CO-WORKERS WHO WERE FOLLOWING ME TO THE RESTAURANT, SAW THAT I NEEDED HELP AND OPENED THE DOOR TO HELP ME GET OUT. I HAVE HAD A HEADACHE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS - MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT IS PROBABLY A SLIGHT CONCUSSION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HONDA HAS HAD ANY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY REPAIRS PAID. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR ME TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE UNDER MY INSURANCE BECAUSE I HAVE A $1,000 DEDUCTIBLE AND THEY ARE LIKELY TO RAISE MY PREMIUMS. THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT. LET ME KNOW

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HALL HONDA VIRGINIA BEACH (LOCATED AT 3516 VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452, (877) 475-0724), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CASE WOULD BE OPENED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,256.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND HIT A POT HOLE ON A 2 LINE HIGHWAY, THEN THE TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING ALL THE SIDE AIRBAGS AND STEERING WHEEL AIR AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THE CAR DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ELSE NOR WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION ACCIDENT.
WE WERE AT A COMPLETE STOP AT THE OUTER CITY STREET SIGNALING TO MAKE A LEFT AND A CAR HIT US FROM BEHIND WITHOUT BREAKING AT 60 -70 SPEED AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE IS SMASHED IN AND NOT ONE AIRBAG WENT OFF. THERE WERE TWO ADULTS (DRIVER & PASSENGER) AND TWO CHILDREN (BACKSEAT).
When a phone is placed in the designated spot on the center console under the radio, it will fly backward upon acceleration. It has caused my phone to fly backward and unstrap my seatbelt while pulling onto a busy highway. I am not the only person this has happened to. This is a design flaw. The area beneath the radio where you are supposed to place your phone is not secure enough to hold an average size phone and poses a serious risk as the center console is taller than the driver's seat. It has undone my seatbelt on more than one occasion. I would likely have been ejected from the car if someone would havce hit me while this this occurred. Please recall these vehicles to fix this design flaw. It is extremely dangerous.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO APPLY AS EXPECTED. THIS RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION THAT FORTUNATELY DIDN'T HAVE ANY FATALITIES. THE AIRBAGS ALSO DIDN'T DEPLOY DURING THE COLLISION. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, BUT INSTEAD OF A RESPONSE BACK AND PRESSURE COMING BACK FROM THE BRAKING SYSTEM, THE BRAKING PEDAL FELT LOOSE AND THE CAR INSTEAD OF COMING TO A STOP, CONTINUED TO SLOWLY DECELERATE. I'VE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND MY EXPECTATION WAS THAT THE CAR SHOULD HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP INSTEAD OF JUST SLOWING DOWN WITHIN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR IN FRONT. THERE WERE ALSO NO SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT. I SUSPECT THE BRAKES FAILED AND HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY IN TRYING TO GET THIS LOOKED INTO BY SOMEONE THAT CAN COME UP WITH A REPORT ON THE STATUS OF THE BRAKES. UNFORTUNATELY NOBODY CARED SO FAR, SO AS A LAST RESOURCE I'M REACHING OUT TO NHTSA FOR POSSIBLE GUIDANCE OR EVEN A BRAKING SYSTEM CAR INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT IMPACT COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED MINOR PAIN, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TAKATA RECALL
"TAKATA RECALL" I BOUGHT VEHICLE IN LATE SEP 2016. DEALER SAID RECALL WAS DONE. HAD MINOR ACCIDENT NOV. 2017, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY?? OFFICER AT SCENE THOUGHT THAT TO BE UNUSUAL.
ON MAY 09, 2017 I WAS REAR ENDED WHILE SITTING STILL BY A CAR TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT AND MY FACE WAS PROJECTED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. DURING THE IMPACT MY SEATBELT DIDN'T SEEM TO ACTIVATE AND NOT ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED YET BUT I WOULD GUESS IT TO BE TOTALED DUE TO THE FRONT AND REAR IMPACT DAMAGE. EVERYONE I'VE SPOKE TO INCLUDING THE POLICE OFFICER AND WRECKER SERVICE WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I FEEL VERY LUCKY BUT DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE AND IT'S SAFETY FEATURES.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED POSTAL MAIL ABOUT A RECALL PENDING ON MY VEHICLE THAT WAS TO BE COMPLETED IN FALL 2016. IT IS NOW JANUARY/WINTER 2017 AND THERE HAS BEEN NO UPDATE.
